I can't even imagine waking up to a life 200 years in the past, but that's just what happened to Emma. A spell thrusts her from 2017 to 1816 in the blind of an eye--can you imagine?

I've often thought the Regency time period would be a wonderful time to live in, but watching Emma navigate the differences between these two time periods was quite eye-opening. Giving up modern conveniences, such as flushing toilets, internet, and smart phones, for corsets, balls, and completely different social norms would be quite an adjustment and it was pure entertainment to watch.

Hartley is determined to marry Emma off to his brother, to keep the family line going, but there are some magical sparks that are undeniable. I laughed so hard at some of the things that came out of Emma's mouth and the way she caught Hartley off guard so often. Their interactions and banter were the best, as she's so excited to enjoy every new thing and he's a crusty grump, with a hard shell around his heart. Sariah Wilson writes such swoony scenes and I loved the kisses, as well as the awesome cast of characters. Aunt Charles was especially delightful!

I was completely captivated by the way everything tied together. In fact, after I finished the book, I had to go back and read the first chapter again. I would be more than happy to read more about this intriguing family.

Content: mild+ romance (swoony kisses and light innuendo)

5 stars

Not sure why I haven’t read this book before now. It has been in my collection for like forever (since 2017). If I could express this book in a few words is was awesome, thrilling, amazing, heart-wrenching and romantic. The way Emma speaks reminds me of Buffy from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Back then her way of speaking was so different that she totally stood out. This was the same for Emma. Loved her snark and sense of humor.

The whole concept of time travel has always fascinated me. Although I have never been the biggest fan of the Regency era, this book just did it for me on so many levels. The will they get together/ won’t they an the fact that she could run away back to her own time period had me hooked from the very beginning.

With all the buzz around Bridgeton and Outlander, this book should satisfy so many of those fans. This is right in their wheelhouse. I am not sure if there are more books in this series, but I would love to see more time travel romances from this author.

Definitely a first class book. Highly recommended.

If you like romance with a dash of paranormal and time travel, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

This isn't a genre I read much, but the premise was intriguing, and it was pulled off cleverly. I'd definitely recommend it, and would love to read more of these characters' adventures.

This was a new author for me, and I have to say that it will not be the last book that I read from this author. I absolutely loved this book! This story was upbeat and very entertaining. It was full of wonderful humor that made me laugh, but it also had a good story that make me connect with the hero and heroine and feel what they were going through. The characters were very interesting and lovable. The story was very well written. I highly recommend this book! Very well done!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.

I’m not sure why or how it took me so long to get down to reading this book but I LOVED it. I adore time travel books and this was no different. My heart was racing throughout most of this book. It was a stunning tale of love in a most unlikely place bordering on forbidden. The passion, the romanticism, the quirkiness was what made this novel so appealing. I like that it was lighthearted but still had substance to it. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoy romantic/time travel books. Also, I very rarely give 5 stars but this book deserved it.

Once Upon a Time Travel was a slow burn at first—but once it got going, it had its own momentum. This is the kind of novel of which I would like to read tons more!!! I had a hard time putting this book down—I could not wait to see what was coming next. This was a wonderful blend of romantic tension, awkward time-period transitions, humor, and just a dash of magic. I loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and the storyline flowed well.
I have always enjoyed the idea of time travel and this did not disappoint.
The main character; Emma finds herself 200 years in the past in the house she is working in as a museum curator. How she copes with the time slip is at times amusing but believeable.
Will be looking for other books by thus author.

When you read this one you just have to go into it ready to just have a good time. I love time travel romances. This is a silly romance with issues, but it can be a fun read if you just let go and enjoy it. My biggest complaint was it drug on a little too long. This is a clean romance in the sense that they don't have any sex scenes but they talk about it plenty and there is lots of make out scene that are just kissing, but have some heat.

ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!

Here's the thing about this author, just keep reading. Of the five books I've read from this author, every single one has been referral worthy. I stayed up all night long to finish this one!

What I love about this author is that the romance is clean but still a page-turner. I laughed out loud starting on the first page. I "Oh, no you didn't!"-ed more times than I thought. At the end, to find it all come full circle, I cried, both because of my love of Love and everything about it and also for my unnatural attachment to fictional characters.

Such a fantastic book and to know it is a story the author had been saving forever just makes it that much more wonderful!

When Emma wakes up in 1816 with her smartphone in her jeans pocket, she doesn’t believe she’s truly traveled in time. She tells herself that she must be dreaming. She amuses herself with silly responses to the questions she is asked by the house staff and the handsome Earl Hartley. Soon Emma is taken to a place where she can rest and reorient her confused mind. She peacefully dozes off expecting to wake from her bizarre dream. When she wakes in the same room in 1816, she quickly realizes she must have truly traveld in time. She must play the part of a lady who belongs in this time period. If she were discovered, where would she go?

The ability to breathe is way overrated. corset tying image
I don’t know what would feel more torturous, the loss of regular breathing from having to wear a corset, or possessing a smartphone I could no longer utilize. Imagine, holding your phone that could instantly find anything you could ever want and yet you’ll never again have service, internet, nor a cord to keep it charged. It’s going to die forever!

Needless to say, Once Upon a Time Travel is the telling of a girl forced to learn to adjust to the time period. It’s more difficult than it sounds. Simple things we are accustomed to saying don’t make sense to the people around her. She doesn’t know the etiquette required for the different classes of people, she hasn’t learned the dances of the time period, and she must remember that she can’t be in the presence of Hartley without her chaperone. It would compromise her and they’d be forced to wed.

According to Emma, Hartley is hot. When he’s told this he is confused by Emma’s reference to the temperature. I enjoyed all of their conversations because of the innocent misunderstandings due to their differences in speech. A lot of what Emma says and does gets blamed on the quirkiness of Americans. Including how differently we dance which sparks a bit of desire in the Earl.

Reading at night gifEmma & Hartley kept me up most of the night
Hartley is desperate to stop thinking about Emma romantically and marry her off to his brother, while Emma is torn between her love for Harley and her desperation to find her way back to 2017. If Hartley could admit to her and himself that he wants Emma to himself, would his love be enough to keep her happy in 1816?

The idea of leaving my life in 2017 for the love of a man in 1816 seems so baffling. This is mostly why I couldn’t stop reading about Emma and Hartley. Don’t get me wrong, I’m madly in love with my own husband. I’m just wondering if I could stand the loss of modern technology and the advancement of women’s rights to be with him. Then again, we are an interracial couple so our story of love would be MUCH different and quite illegal. I’ll stick to 2017! 🙂

This is the first book I've read by this author. It's a bit dull at the beginning, but it's definitely interesting enough to get into. The story is a cute and funny romance.

A swift cute read. I tend to stay away from time travel romances because they always seem so outlandish (despite my love of sci-fi/fantasy.) This novel had the one thing that annoys me about this genre, a strong willed women who somehow doesn’t run into trouble in a completely different time era and falls for someone it the period. The heroine also falls into the “I don’t have anything/anyone waiting for me in the time I am from so it’s okay for me to leave it all behind” trope.

That all being said, I did find myself enjoying it and laughing out loud a lot. The heroine was cute and her interactions with the hero entertaining. My favorite part was the end, however. The author wrapped everything up so perfectly.

This book was highly entertaining to me. I smiled a LOT and I even giggled out loud a few times. I love when books amuse me. Then you add in the ever growing attraction and tension between Emma and Hartley and I was completely hooked. There were a few times I was mentally pulling my hair out and yelling, "Oh, COME ON!" only to be right back to giggling the next minute. So fun.

There is a great cast of characters in this book and I loved the touch of the magical here. I'd love to see this book grow into a series with some back stories about Hartley's sisters.

Sariah Wilson is a go-to author for me. This book is not like her others but it is surely one of her most amusing. This is the perfect book for a romantic escape. It will lighten your day and bring a smile to your face.

Content: some kissing, making out that gets a little steamy but stays clean

Want a twist on your historical romance? Once Upon a Time Travel will definitely hit the spot!

American Emma is in the UK working at historic Hartley Hall. She’s made a great friend in roommate Bex and loves watching Bex swoon over the current Earl of Hartley, Charlie Portwood. When Emma ventures into a forbidden part of Hartley Hall, she finds more than she ever expected. Thrust back in time to the Hartley Hall of 1816, she’s mistaken for an American Miss Blythe sent to wed the Earl’s younger brother. Emma is instantly attracted to one thing in her new time, the Earl of Hartley, Jaxson Portwood.

Through the magic that brought Emma back in time, she strives to find a way back home. She struggles to keep up the rouse of being Miss Blythe, but eventually is able to confide in the Earl’s aunt, Charles. Yes, you read that right, Hartley’s aunt is named Charles.

Wilson creates hilarious and heartfelt situations to bring us a love story lost in time. While Emma’s point of view is told in a first person narrative, Hartley’s is told in third person, an interesting and refreshing choice. I loved the Emma’s fiery disposition and her determination to make the best of her life while she was trapped in 1816. I won’t give away the ending, but we do get a happily ever after Wilson promises.

This was my first experience reading Sariah Wilson’s work and based on this novel, I look forward to reading many more stories of hers in the future.

Emma Damon doesn’t really know what she wants to do in the future, shes drifted into her current position on a scholarship as a historian at Hartley Hall in the heart of London. Emma’s given up on men as she’s yet to meet a man who wants more than a hook up, the only man she is intrigued with appears in a portrait in the off limits Rose Room. One stormy night Emma goes exploring and ends up being transported back to 1816 and into the home of her crush. I really liked this story, you can tell its special to the author. Totally unpredictable and a pleasure to read.

I absolutely loved this book! It had time travel, regency era, hot looking men! I have read from this authors work before and will definitely be reading more from her again! I found myself laughing at Emma's quick wit and Hartley's sense of being a gentleman. I love Happily Ever Afters and I think everyone should have one! Wonder how I would act going from 2017 to 1816 London?
