This is definitely worth reading! For a first book in the series, I was surprised at the pace and how much it captivated me. I look forward to reading future novels in the series!

This book is very good from the start to finish. The main character Ian Ludlow is on a book tour and after a so, so day in Seattle he goes back to his hotel to rest. Being turned down by Margo the women who is taking him around to different book stores for his promotions, he begins to notice the news and that a passenger jet crashed on Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. This was one of the scenarios he came up with years ago with some other writers for the CIA, back then he was writing for a television show. After calling one of the men from the meeting and finding out that he is dead, and looking up for the others he realizes he is the only still alive. Then again his apartment blew up but he just happened to be in his tub which was an old fashion cast iron. Then after that his brakes on his bike went out on Mulholland drive but a rock and some huge bushes stop him from going over the cliff. Now trying not to panic he gets a hold of Margo and she does not believe him even after a car almost hits them which had no driver. She really doesn’t fully believe him until they are fighting off a hit women in a home that she knew the people were out of town. Now on the run both of them you get a look at how you can be tracked without you even knowing it. This is a story that is fast paced, fun at times, has action and is just a very good book.

True Fiction is the perfect title for this...so twisted yet so plausible that the story sucks you right in. The characters are quirky which is fun. The fantastical storyline is one of those that makes you think twice about things. Enjoyed it so much I had to immediately jump into book 2!

Airport thriller writer becomes enmeshed in airport thriller - how meta is Lee's mind. Doesn't matter, this is a good ride and amusing

While I have found Goldberg's co authoring books generally enjoyable, TRUE FICTION, single authored, seemed rushed. And the plot, which has a former CIA consultant, Ian Ludlow trying to figure out the real story behind a passenger jet crashing on Waikiki. Even 17 years after 9/11--it's too soon to use a terrorist plane crash for a story-line.

I highly recommend Lee Goldberg’s latest book. It’s suspenseful, unpredictable and humorous. All the ingredients for a great summer read… whether you’re lounging by the pool, travelling cross-country or just trying to beat the summer heat

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book. But the further I read, the more I enjoyed the adventure. True Fiction is a wonderful romp with non-stop action. Without giving too much away, I can only say that the characters are appealing and the story is imaginative and even somewhat believable. With a premise that is inventive and dialog that is crisp, it is a book that’s hard to put down for very long.

It would appear that True Fiction is the beginning of a new series. I certainly hope so!

Many thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

When a flight takes off in Honolulu and the pilots lose control, it is flown into the city 911-style by remote control. The idea was straight out of the mind of a best-selling author. His friends, other authors, who had been part of a collaborative effort to imagine threats to the US, have all been killed while he has barely escaped death twice. What’s going on? Author Goldberg uses an imaginative approach to create a face-paced novel of political intrigue.

TransAmerican Flight 976 crashes in Waikiki. Bestselling writer Ian Ludlow is horrified. He knows this was no accident. Several years ago Ian and several other writers were approached by the CIA to create terrorist storylines with the idea of preparing the government for ultimate disaster preparedness. This horrific crash is one of the scenarios Ian created, and was also the plot of one of his novels.

Ian immediately discovers that the other writers that were with him when he was at the author retreat – attended by the CIA – are all dead. He then realizes that two very recent accidents he experienced were not accidents at all. He is next. The CIA is trying to kill him too. While about to flee, Ian, and his author escort, Margo French, are almost the victims of being run down. The chase is on! Now Margo is also collateral damage. They are now on the run of their lives! Assassins are always hot on their trail.

What an incredible page-turner! The action is nonstop. There is humor, enhanced by true unrealism when the writer becomes the hero and foils the CIA! True Fiction is the first in Lee Goldberg's new series. I have to admit reading this prolific author is new to me, although I’ve been seeing his name for years. I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Just finished True Fiction by Lee Goldberg, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the whole notion and premise of the novel was clever. I thought that the author did a good job of going against the norm when it comes to the “classic thriller” novel. While it wasn’t exactly the typical thriller novel, it still did have a good suspense factor and also had good action. I think the two main characters fed off each other well. Overall it is a book I would recommend!

Thanks to Thomas and Mercer and Lee Goldberg for providing me with an advanced reading copy.

Especially plausible in today's political climate of anything for power and greed. Fast paced, written with several viewpoints, Goldberg's 'civilian' characters stay true to themselves while giving the reader some levety throughout. I especially enjoyed Ronnie and his compound and when Striker takes over. They got the job done
