Camille pagan is a master of taking a seemingly overdone topic and making it not only seem new, but funny and thoughtprovoking all at once. This novel is no exception, and it is a lovely take on starting over.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union publishing for an advanced read in exchange for this review.

Maggie is 53 years old. Her husband is leaving her and is blaming it on a 30 year old woman he met. This is the story of her trying to figure out her life after the news.

I really loved Maggie. I was so impressed with her strength and how she navigated this hard time. Sure, there were a lot of moments where she fell apart, but it seemed like she always found a way to continue on. I loved all the characters in this book, even her husband Adam. I don't want to give too much of this away, but there were a lot of laughs and quirky moments.

My only criticism is that I wanted more! Some of the story lines felt a little short, and I wanted them expanded so the story would feel deeper.

Overall, a really great book, and Maggie is a fantastic character.

Maggie gets the shock of her life when her husband of over 30 years asks for a divorce. It gets worse when she discovers that the other woman he told her about exists, but they are not and have never been completely 'together'. At a loss Maggie takes the long planned trip to Italy herself and decides its time to create a life of her own. Maggie works hard to create a life that makes her truly happy. A story of finding yourself independent of family.

The story was very thought provoking. It is full of ups and downs and twists and turns. I spent a lot of time thinking about what I would have done in the position. Would I have gone to Rome alone? Quit my job and moved to a new state? The author expertly describes Maggie’s experience. I was happy with her choices at the end and think she’s going to be ok!
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley for an honor review.

I received a copy of this awesome book from NetGalley. I have to thank them for allowing me to read such a good book.

It’s an age-old story: woman meets man, man woos woman, woman spends her best years believing their love is the everlasting kind.
Woman embraces aging with hair dye and ample amounts of wine. Man faces his impending mortality by convincing himself that a younger woman is the answer to his waning energy and flagging libido.

Those two parts at the beginning were perfect. Drew me right in to find out why...
I fell in love with this book. It was so heart touching. Sad in parts, funny in parts and many happy parts too. It had a bit of all the emotions that make for a good book.

I felt so bad for Maggie when her husband of 28 years decided he was no longer happy with her. But she went out and did things. She got a life. She experienced things and tried things she never would have if Adam had not of done what he did. I didn’t like him. I never felt sorry for him. Mid life crisis my butt. I don’t think it is ever ok to do what he did. But he paid and paid dearly. In my humble opinion he got off pretty light. But he did learn a vital lesson.

I loved how her children stood by her but still didn’t turn against their dad. Even though he sure didn’t set a good example of how a married man should behave. Rose was a gem. I cried reading about her, toward the end. It has to be hard to know you are forgetting the ones you love so dearly. I agree with her that it would be so much better if it would just happen real fast. The remembering then forgetting has to be hell on a person.

This was a very good book and really made me stop and think. What would I do in Maggie’s place. Probaby fall to pieces. I don’t know if I could be as strong as she finally got. I was very touched at how she handled things. How she ended up doing things. It was perfect. The ending was perfect. I honestly loved this book. It is a 5 star read...

This is my second book of Pagan's that I have read. Pagan has the ability to bring a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Every.Single.Time

I could relate to the main character in several ways when she references her inattention to herself while she raised her children.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. All Opinions are my Own.

This was my third Camille Pagan book and it did not disappoint. It sucked me in from the very beginning, and left me interested throughout. Some have said it was predictable, but honestly I was unsure who Maggie would end up with in the end, if anyone at all. I enjoyed this quick read a lot and look forward to reading all of Pagan's future novels.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Maggie Harris is fifty-three with two grown children when her husband announces he's been having an affair and wants a divorce. Maggie is blindsided and begins to do whatever she can to make her husband Adam want to save their marriage. She ends up taking their anniversary trip to Rome by herself, which leads her to spending a few months in Ann Arbor away from everything. There she begins to sort out her feelings and begins to find her true self. She develops a relationship with Charlie, a recently divorced man that she really likes. Then, out of the blue, Adam is in crisis and needs her. He wants her back, which is what she has wanted all along. But after all this time, is that really what she wants? What about Charlie? And what about Maggie herself? What's a gal to do? This is another great book by Camille Pagan.

This is a beautiful story of family, love, and heartbreak. Maggie is 53 years old and married with 2 children. She thinks her life is perfect. Out of the blue her husband asks for a divorce as he has been having an affair. Maggie's whole life is destroyed! She realizes she has lost herself always caring for her husband and children and needs to find herself again. I loved Maggie. She is such a strong woman and I found myself cheering for her as she found herself and her strength again. I received an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

What a wonderful novel. A story of inner strength, forgiveness, growth, friendship and love.

Told from the perspective of Maggie, a woman in her mid 40s who had sacrificed herself to be a mother and a wife. While her two children have grown and for the most part flourished, Maggie's husband Adam decides he is unhappy and leaves. Maggie is lost and alone but goes on a journey that makes her find herself again. Maggie is a strong character and I loved the relationship she has with her children.

I related to Maggie because she reminded me of my mother. There were scenes that made me cry and others that made me cheer and laugh.

This novel is a wonderful hybrid of Pagan's precious novels. Funny and tongue in cheek at some parts and dramatic and heart breaking at others

All in all a light read but one that has meaning and significant points that will stay with you. Any mother of grown children or a child who has a mother should read. Love this author and she has hit the mark on many levels with this novel

Releases Feb 27. This is the perfect read to pull you from your winter blues!!

I really enjoyed the writing style of the author and felt like we all a Maggie in our lives and can all picture ourselves becoming a Maggie.

I wanted a little more humor in this book. I know the subject matter isn’t funny but the description made it sound like there would be more humor.

I can’t say I would make all the same choices as Maggie but I feel like her choices were right for her.

I liked the premise of the title and appreciate when a young writer is able to bring characters to the page that are complex/older. I
especially thought Rose was so well characterized.. I really found myself wishing that the book was nonfiction or literary fiction in genre.
I found the main character to be slightly implausible in her actions and what was situationally put before seemed unlikely so that was not a plus, I did have to remind myself that fiction is of the creative imagination and can be just a story. I think the writer is gifted so I am more apt to take the time to be discerning and not write this off as a screenplay type read, that said with the time to discuss

I enjoyed this novel. Finding a readable and smart novel with a protagonist in her 50s was exciting. I felt that the only part of the novel that didn't read as real life was her economic status. It seemed at some times as if money is an issue and then in others that she has never worried about money. Otherwise, I would recommend this novel.

When I started reading WOMAN LAST SEEN IN HER THIRTIES by Camille Pagan, I knew this novel was something special. When I read FOREVER IS THE WORST LONG TIME earlier this year, I was impressed with the author's ability to capture female and male emotions and dialog while crafting a good story. In this novel, she tells the story from Maggie's point of a view, a fifty something mother with grown children who is preparing for her big anniversary. However, when her husband announces he is leaving her in the middle of his own midlife crisis, Maggie finds that she has a crisis happening as well. Who is she without her role as a wife and how does she rediscover who she is? The writing is very fluid with just enough humor and stress to make it believable and engaging. I found this novel to be a very enjoyable and definitely recommend adding Pagan's novels to your reading lists!

I received an advance review copy of this book from NetGalley and the Great Thought's Ninja Review Team. All opinions are my own.
