This is a sweet and clean story - there is no questionable content in this one at all.

This book is a companion to the Hallmark movie Christmas In Homestead, but it is so much more than just a verbatim re-telling of that story. I have read three out of the four Hallmark movie-to-book adaptations and they were really good, but this one is my absolute favorite of the bunch. I enjoyed the movie, don't get me wrong, but the book so much better because it was able to delve deeper into everyone's inner thoughts and give the story and characters a depth that was missing in the movie. I specifically loved reading Matt's inner thoughts as he navigated the upheaval in his life. He was so much more likable when we could see just why he was so grouchy and just how much he loved his daughter, his sister, and his entire town. His humor and playful sarcasm made me adore him from start to finish, even when he was being a grumpy old man. I also really enjoyed getting a little more info on the secondary stories between Zoe and Ian, and even Gavin and Zoe.

If you enjoy a fun Christmas story where a Hollywood starlet (who isn't obnoxious) meets small town grumpy-pants boy and falls in love kind of story, or if you've seen the movie and want more details on Jessica and Matt, you should read this book. I highly recommend it.

I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this story via NetGalley and the publisher. I was under no obligation to write this review, I did so because this book was fantastic.

I'm a fan of these Hallmark books. The Christmas movies are always sweet, and you know they are clean and family-oriented. The books are no different. It it clean enough that I would be willing to let me teen daughter read it (even if she probably wouldn't want to), sweet enough to restore faith in a season where it's easy to get lost in the stress, and realistic enough to relate to. Overall, a nice, short, easy read that is perfect for the holidays!
