The book starts off with Reagan getting engaged to Boone, and she decides she wants to not get into as many shenanigans, but that doesn’t work! When the sweet sisters next door end up in trouble, she can’t help but want to save the day, and soon enough Aunt Kiki and her momma are in on it, too!

This has definite Stephanie Plum vibes, with Aunt Kiki as a Grandma Mazur, Boone as a more understanding Morelli, and the beautiful Savannah standing in for Trenton. I definitely recommend!

Lethal in Old Lace is the fifth book in the Consignment Shop Mystery series by Duffy Brown.

I really enjoyed this book. It is the first book I’ve read in the series and look forward to going back to read the earlier books.

The characters are quirky and fun and you can‘t go wrong with a setting like Savannah. I want a dog like Bruce Willis!

There were a lot of twists and turns to keep you guessing and plenty of laughs with the crazy antics. I call books like these “brain candy”. It’s a sweet escape from reality for a while.

I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

There are two social functions in Savannah guaranteed to get people talking: weddings and funerals. And just as consignment shop owner Reagan Summerside agrees to marry the hunky Walker Boone, her neighbors, sisters Annie Fritz and Elsie Abbot, step up their business as professional mourners. They are so successful that the Sleepy Pines Retirement Center has hired them as a part of their retirement package. But the celebration over good business is cut short when the residents at Pines suddenly begin dying at an alarming rate. And the sisters are the first suspects.
Reagan has her doubts, however, and begins to look into the strange phenomenon. But then something even stranger happens: a body winds up in the sisters’ pink Caddy. The evidence begins to pile up and the suspicious case of Willie Fishbine, who swindled the sisters out of a fortune and coincidentally died prior to the Pines case, is reopened Not wanting Willie to be buried until they can find the killer responsible for the murders, Reagan must catch the culprit in time to walk down the aisle. Witty, fabulous, and full of charm, Lethal in Old Lace is perfect for fans of Ellery Adams and Jenn McKinlay.

**An idyllic setting, characters I can root for. There were so many fun moments. Aunt Kiki was right in the thick of things as always and helping in a fairly major way with this investigation. I loved that Reagan's mom, the judge, got in on some of the snooping fun this time. I had only read the first in this series but just couldn't resist reading ahead since it was no secret that Reagan and Boone would be getting married, its about darn time. I didn't guess the killer very early, but I did have suspicions all along about that person.

Lethal in Old Lace is the first book that I have read by Duffy Brown. While I have not read the previous books in the Consignment Shop series, I had no problems following the story. I enjoyed this story- there is a lot going on to keep you interested. Now, I need to go back and read the previous books in the series, as well as keep my eyes open for the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book!

Reagan Summerside agrees to marry Walker Boone! But as soon as she accepts his proposal, her neighbors are seeing an uptick in their business as professional mourners. Which wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the fact that residents of the local retirement center seem to be dying at a rather frightening rate and the police are looking at the sisters as their prime suspects.

Before Reagan can say I do, she needs to clear her neighbors’ names and figure out what is going on at Sleepy Pines. Let the fun begin!

While the is the first book in the series for me, apparently this is a series that moved to a new publisher…which is how I found it. I’m glad Duffy Brown moved to Crooked Lane Books, because this book was quite enjoyable. It may have been the first in the series for me, but it surely won’t be the last!

Regan Summerside has got to be one of the funniest women I “know”. (At least it seems like I know her after reading this book series by Ms. Brown.) Every time she opens her mouth something outrageous comes out! She is such a hoot! But, of course, she is the niece of her Auntie Kiki! When her sweet neighbors get accused of murder, Regan and Auntie Kiki get to work to help clear them. Another great Savannah mystery! Fast paced! Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending! Great read! Can’t wait for the next one! This book was gifted to me by the author, with no expectation for a review.

“Lethal in Old Lace” earns 5/5 Tasty Martinis…Murderously Fan!

I heard the ‘buzz,’ so I was eager to read Duffy Brown’s new book in her Consignment Shop Mystery series. It's always a concern starting a book well into a series with so much having happened and characters already well establishment, but “Lethal in Old Lace” did not disappoint. Duffy Brown revisited enough background and referenced character connections to keep me totally engaged. Although finding out how everyone got here from there, puts the others four books at the top of my ‘TBR’ list.

The wedding everyone has been waiting for between Reagan and Walker is just about to be held, but a few dead bodies put quite the damper on the upcoming nuptials. The link to the Sleepy Pines Retirement Center puts “persons of interest” too close to home. Along with a clever mystery with a few twists and turns to challenge your own amateur detective is a rich set of characters, entertaining dialogue, and more than a few giggles. This was a marvelous read capped with thirteen of Aunt Kiki’s Best Martinis. My favorite was the Espresso Martini (Too early for breakfast?) and the perfect Summer on the Veranda Watermelon Martini (Oh, those summer nights!). I highly recommend this book for fans and newbies alike!

Hysterically funny book. Absolutely enjoyed all the shenanigans. Believable, likable characters. Can hardly wait to read more by this author

I really enjoyed this book and the setting of Savannah really added to it. I loved loved the characters and their southern charm. It was interesting to see how Reagan was able to juggle her wedding with figuring out the mystery. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a professional mourner, but can definitely see that as being a southern thing.
I received a copy of this book from the author, the review is my own.

From the publisher—

Not wanting Willie to be buried until they can find the killer responsible for the murders, Reagan must catch the culprit in time to walk down the aisle.

There’s no place better than Savannah for a consignment shop and the city has the extra attraction of feeling like a small town in the sense that everyone knows who’s who and what’s what. It’s no surprise that shopkeeper Reagan would get involved when Annie and Elsie are suspected of doing away with some of the senior citizens at Sleepy Pines to beef up their most unusual business. With the help of her cohorts, particularly Aunt Kiki and Reagan’s mom, Judge Gloria, the race is on to prove the sisters’ innocence and still get Reagan to the church on time, so to speak.

Once again, humor fills the pages of Reagan’s latest escapade and the case is as wacky as they come. I do recommend a reader new to the series start with the first one and be prepared to be totally charmed by this Southern fiction with a mysterious flair 😉

If you like madcap adventures in your cozy mysteries, this book is for you! Eccentric Southern characters, murder, a 'missing' body, a touch of romance, and a dog named Bruce Willis grace these pages as the consignment shop owner searches for a killer taking out elderly residents from a nursing home.

I originally read the first book in this series, Iced Chiffon, and loved it! Then as happens to a read-a-holic, I amassed the other books in the series but they sit waiting to be read in a pile by my bed. So I was super happy when I heard that this series had found a new home at Crooked Lane Book and that I would get the chance to revisit this series, and the characters of Reagan, Boone, Aunt Kiki, Elsie & Annie Fritz, and let us not forgot BW! I was a little worried that I would be lost from not reading the past couple of books, however this book can totally be read as a standalone book. I LOVED this book. Not surprising at all is the fact that this book is jammed pack full of twist and turns and action that will keep you on your toes as you ride through the journey of Reagan searching out the truth. And let's just chat a quick moment about Regan and Boone...swoon much? I loved the idea of these two in the first book, so I am so glad to see that they are happily moving along towards marital bliss! I love reading the interactions between the two of them. This book is a prime example of why we were all so heartbroken when this series got dropped and why we were all rejoicing when Crooked Lane Books picked it up. Thank you Crooked Lane Books for making this possible, and thank you Duffy Brown for writing another stellar addition to this series. I can't wait until the next one comes out...I am already hearing wedding bells!

I love proposals and this was one for the history books. Possibly because we as fans having been waiting for this and yet, the author just does a wonderful job of making a reader feel included. I also love the antics and humor in this book. I read this book during a dark and dreary day, it was the pick me up I needed.

Lethal in Old Lace by Duffy Brown is part of the Consignment Shop Mystery series. I have not read any of the previous books, but I had no trouble following this one. Reagan Summerside lives in Savannah, owns a consignment shop, and is newly engaged to Walker Boone. Her neighbors, sisters Annie and Elise, are professional mourners working with a local retirement center. When the retirees begin dying faster than expected, Annie and Elise become the prime suspects in the suspicious deaths. Reagan, her mom, and her aunt jump in to clear their names. I love how perfectly southern this book is. I have already added the previous books to my wish list!

Princess Fuzzypants here:
Even though the animal sidekick is a dog, I totally enjoyed this madcap mystery. Set in Savannah, Reagan, her new fiancé, her mother and her whacky auntie are determined to find out who offed two residents of a senior’s home and framed the two slightly dotty next door neighbour ladies. You can practically smell the flowers and feel the South. It makes the reader want to explore this historic city.
It is a good mystery, although I must confess, I did suspect the villain. It was still good fun as there were so many good suspects with so many motives to kill one of the dead. Financial scams and scams of other sorts, romances gone awry, and some of the funniest and most charming characters make this book a treat.
I will have to go back and read some of the previous books in the series where you can hiss at the villains and cheer for the heroes.
I give it five purrs and two paws up.

I love this series and this 5th in the Reagan Summerside and Walker Boone wonderful Consignment Shop Mysteries is a delightful read ! This next in series is nonstop fun and action packed. This series is laugh out loud hilarious. In this next in series. Boone has proposed and Reagan has said yes. While they are celebrating Reagan's aunt arrives to hear the good news and take them to a funeral where a series of hilarious events take place. After Reagan had promised Boone she would stop finding dead bodies and investigating, she becomes adamant to find out more about a murder that took place in her friends car. The murder suspects are many and the hilarity ensues much to the delight of this reader.
I love this book for its well crafted mysteries, the fun supporting characters. and of course the romance. As they plan their big day around finding a murderer more fun and games occur that kept me laughing to the last page. I highly recommend this series. I received a ARC and wrote my honest opinion. I look forward to the next in series.

Reagan and Walker are engaged, he's no longer wanted for murder, and her business is back on track. Everything is wonderful and then she finds a dead body in an alley and in her neighbor's car. Can she just not catch a break? But before she can get back to the car with help, the body disappears.

If you haven't read any of the consignment shop mysteries, you should. The characters are funny, irreverent, and totally Southern. If you have read the first five, you know you won't be disappointed.

The Prizzy Fox Consignment Shop owner Reagan Summerside agrees to marry hunky lawyer Walker Boone. Her Auntie Kiki's neighbors, sisters Annie Fritz and Elsie Abbot, are supplementing their retirement income by being professional mourners. Reagan and Auntie Kiki are asked to help shore up attendance for the funeral of Willie Fishbine. Willie had swindled people with a fake vitamin scam and had been a resident of Sleepy Pines Retirement Home. When another Pines resident, Bonnie Sue. is found dead in the sisters' Caddy by Reagan, she wonders who was framing them for murder. Auntie Kiki decides to go undercover at the Pines while Reagan does her own snooping to clear her friends. This is another hilarious entry in the Consignment Shop mystery series.

I received an eARC via Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.
