This book does a good job of helping the reader imagine a different way to be in relationship with food.

Lots of good information, most of which is common sense. Easy to read, lots of case studies, but sometimes felt a little overwhelming with the amount of information presented.

Informative of the reasons why we eat to much and become overweight. There is short testimonies of people that have had issues for years.

Naturally Thin explains how to eat correctly for lifetime weight maintenance. I wanted to read this book because I've always been thin.

Ms. Antonello is a nurse and uses her knowledge and research skills to explain that dieting does not work. Dieting promotes the feast/famine cycle of the body. When people lose weight, their bodies go into famine and want food, which is why people usually gain weight back. She strongly recommends eating real food, eliminating processed foods. If you eat when hungry, eat real food, the body will stop going into feast mode and will tell you when to stop eating because it doesn't think it's about to go into a famine.

As a thin person, I'm not "allowed" to help people with their food. It's true that I haven't ever lost a lot of weight, so I truly don't know how defeating it is to try and try and fail and fail. A few years ago, I did change my diet to be more plant-based and almost completely eliminated processed foods. The body truly knows what to do when good, real food in placed in it. After watching people eat, gain/lose weight, go on weird diets, I always want to suggest they eat real food. People don't want to give up their pleasure foods. I think this is a great resource for anyone who truly wants to be healthy. I believe it works.

As a student who studies nutrition , all I can say after reading this book is - FINALLY! Someone who actually knows what she's talking about!!
To all of you out there who are struggling to lose weight through all kind and sort of idiotic low calories "miracle" diet plans- PLEASE read this book! It might save your mind, your body and , the most important, your health! This book scientifically explains why people get fat , stay fat and struggle so much to get rid of obesity and why most never succeed ! It clearly explains all about the feast - famine phenom and why you need to eat a decent amount of REAL food and not starve yourself in order to lose weight. It's all about chemistry, people.
Jean Antonello offered you a decent amount of knowledge in this book, use it!

This book is very well written with a lot - a LOT - of research. However, I found it went on for far too long and when I was hit with yet more science, I started to switch off and had to force myself to finish it. The other aspect I struggled with was the lack of detail, such as the *names* of the established and existing diets discussed and discarded (rather than just a description). Every other diet or slimming book I've read isn't afraid to name the competition. Perhaps I've become accustomed to television programmes that are more than happy to name and shame. And finally, the case study names came across as made-up and non-existent. I may be wrong, but this is how they came across.
I do feel that naming the diets and having pictures of those people interviewed, with actual facts and figures, would have made this book much more interesting for me. In particular, I'd like to see genuine success stories with real pictures and before-and-after experiences.
Saying all of this, before I started to lose concentration, I did feel I was learning something new and understanding why so many of my own diets and eating regimes have failed.
Very interesting, but could be more concise.

A wonderful book that I rather imagine the diet industry dislikes intensely! The premise is to get back to a natural way of eating, eat when hungry (the first thing to do is actually allow yourself to eat!) and train yourself to need only the right amount of food.  With no fad recipes, no cutting anything out, no making yourself ill trying to work out what is right and wrong with food, don't start starving yourself, make sure you keep hunger at bay - this I will re-read and start to do.

Sensible healthy eating advice that would probably work if I would do it. Which I won't, so there you go! Obviously, my inability to give up beer and sweets isn't the book's fault, so i won't grade it down for that. Although informative, the writing was somewhat dry. I found it a bit hard to stay engaged,

This book is a collection of tips and good ideas for losing weight. I am interested in maintaining my weight loss so it was helpful in that respect also. A few chapters explained methods that were the opposite of what I did to lose weight but I hope readers will understand that everyone's body is different and there are different ways to lose weight and stay at your goal weight.

This was a well-written and very interesting book whose premise made absolute sense to me. As someone who has dieted half her life, this book helped me to understand where we've gone wrong in our quest for quick weight loss. In some ways just another diet book, but well worth taking the time to read.

I very much enjoyed the first part of this book. The author’s compassion and empathy with those who are struggling with their weight and eating shines through. Her advice on healthy diet and general approach to eating are spot on. It is wonderful to read such sensible and all encompassing nutritional advice. My problem with it came when she started to advise taking snacks everywhere and eating before going out for a meal. While I appreciate that this may well assist with weight loss and help to control overeating, it does seem to me to take the joy out of eating socially. Sometimes, I like to be really hungry and fully appreciate a good meal. I would rather go slightly hungry than spoil my appetite by snacking in the car. I do like to eat three good meals and nothing in between. Perhaps that is why the author is beautifully slim and I am not!

Oh my, that’s another hour of my life I’ll never get back (that’s how long I persevered). Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive. Contents could have been condensed into maybe two loosely-scribbled pages. Full with gems like: “Proteins offer valuable lasting satiety as they are generally metabolized more slowly than the plant-based foods.” Avoid fatty and sugary foods...well, that NEVER occurred to me *sarcastic mode off*. Just another highly verbose collection of platitudes.

There are moments in my weight loss journey where I knew what I was doing was wrong but there are so many more moments where I felt like everything I was doing was right. Since going through menopause I feel like I am doing that right now. I'm doing everything I've done in my past and nothing is working. Actually, I'm gaining and am the biggest I've ever been in my entire life at the writing of this review.

Naturally Thin by Jean Antonello was written for people like me; people who want better, want healthier, want this time to be the last time, and want to lose weight the right way.

From the moment I picked up this book I knew this was something different. Within the first few chapters I was saying, "Wow! That's me!" until it became redundant. You can tell from her writing that Ms. Antonello has been there and she knows what she's talking about. She discusses why our bodies are hard-wired to hold onto fat and where many diets have it all wrong. I love all of the stories included in the book from those that have been down this road before and their eventual victory. What they had to do to gain that weight loss freedom is very inspiring and encouraging!

My only complaint is that this book is a tad on the long side and the information, though helpful, can get a little repetitive, but this book is perfect when used as a reference or when you need motivation.

Naturally Thin is highly recommended for anyone who is done with yo-yo dieting, wanting to break the diet cycle, and is willing to put forth the effort to get onto the road to lasting health and weight loss. This book is not a magic pill or a plan that will have you losing 20 pounds in 24 hours, but it will instead help you break free from food addictions, off the diet mentality, and on to lasting weight loss and freedom, if you put what you read to practice.

Antonello presents good information in an easily digestible form (pun intended). I have never been obese, just ten or fifteen pounds overweight, but Anotello's principles apply to everyone. We all have a naturally healthy weight at which our bodies and mind thrives and for most of us, that weight is not what we consider skinny. Following Antonello's suggestions, however, will help you lose weight and drop down to your true healthy weight and learn to love it.

Not really new information but definitely one of the one accessible and better presented books on the subject. Bottom line - diets are bad people and actually make you overweight and unhealthy. Not a great hit for me but this is exactly what some people reading on the subject need.

Very good book on dieting and very easy to read. The author expains how we get fat and stay fat. This really was enlightening. I enjoyed the way the author brings to light many things people have wondered about. Also included is how to read labels, understanding your body, etc. I thought the addition of people who have followed her suggestions are doing. I will recommend this book to people I know. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
