This is a really nice guide to London with a historical angle focusing on the Tudor royals. It has just the right amount of historical info, and I think that anyone going to London who has any interest in history would like this guidebook, including students (students love the Tudors).

This is an interesting travel guide to many well known and less well known Tudor Landmarks in London. The author has provided clear directions, photographs and points of interest. As well as a Guide she does include an historical background for each landmark. I liked that she also included what to see depending on how many days you are spending in London. This book will also appeal to locals. Enjoy this guide to London and take it with you on your trip

Book received from NetGalley.

I think most people enjoy the Tudor era of history. This travel guide focuses on what parts of London still have things you can visit that were there when Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were on the English throne. I like that the author put itineraries in the beginning of the book that show what are the must see places if your time in London is short. She also tries to give you the history of what happened in the buildings mentioned, tries to fill in the parts that may be missing and lets you know what is still standing but not open to the public. I will definitely be buying a copy of this before my next trip to the UK, especially since I discovered so many things that I missed in the areas of London that I have already visited.

A wonderful guide book that combines history and the historical significance about the attractions introduced in the book. The title says it all, "Discovering Tudor London" is all about those landmarks that have their past with the Tudors. An enjoyable read from the beginning to the end.

Ms. Grueninger's writing is simple yet succinct, The helpful tips about getting the most out of each attraction help tourists to plan well ahead and would know what to look out for when visiting. I like "Discovering Tudor London" which is more entertaining and educational than most guide books but less heavy with abundance of historical facts.

Similar to many travelling guide books, "Discovering Tudor London" has sections about
1- Houses, Halls, Palaces and Castles
2- Churches and Religious Houses
3- Museums and Galleries
that would help tourist to choose what they want to visit for each category if under time constrain. If I were a Londoner, I would totally take the book as my weekly excursion guide for I adore history until I finish visiting every attractions being introduced in the book. Thanks Netgallery and Trafalgar Square Publishing for giving me a preview copy to review. "Discovering Tudor London" indeed is a gem for traveling and history advocates who are interested in about anything Tudors.

This is a terrific book. Part guidebook, part history of Tudor England, it is formatted consistently in such a way as to enable a foreigner to plan out a trip to London with ease. The author gives several recommended itineraries, based on the number of days the traveler has to devote to touring, and then goes into greater depth about the various castles, churches, and museums. The author provides just enough history to whet the appetite and provides excellent visitor information details, including contact information for all of the venues and recommendations on days and times to visit. The authors enthusiasm for the subject matter shines through and makes me want to book my vacation now!

This is a lovely book for travelers to London and those interested in Tudor history (whether or not they are travelling to London). The author has included maps and itineraries for several trip lengths (3 day, 5 day 7 day and 10 day), and more in-depth information about places and buildings that were significant in Tudor times.

There is a basic timeline of Tudor England, an extensive resource list and complete illustration information. The illustrastions include lovely drawings of London city and landmarks as they appeared in Tudor times, and photographs (taken much later than Tudor times, of course!) Also includes an 'essentials checklist' for the traveler.

There are three sections of landmarks:
Houses, Halls, Palaces and Castles
Churches and Religious Houses
Museums and Galleries

Each location has historical information, the location's significance in the time of the Tudors, and visitor information,

First Line: The past has always called to me.

Summary: Take a tour of London with highlights of the Tudor era. See the sights, hear about the points of interest and get tips for booking tours and tickets.

Highlights: I love Natalie’s Facebook page about the Tudors. I have followed it for years and I was excited to see her new book coming out. I cannot wait to get and use this on my next trip to London. I found many more places to explore and why they are significant.

Lowlights: More pictures!

FYI: Perfect for the Tudor history lover.

When you’re traveling via armchair, why not do something really exciting and travel back in time as well as place. The author takes readers back to the good old (or bad old) days of Tudor London, providing maps, photos and itineraries to see the city as it was before the Eye and the Gherkin. She lists places to visit, along with directions to get there, and tells what the building or place was used for hundreds of years ago as well as photos and information as to how it’s used today. A fun read for travelers and history buffs alike

History buffs visiting London will love this easy-to-read guide to Tudor London. I've been to London (not in a while), and this book explains so much about the locations and sites and how to get to each one and what to look for. It's laid out quite well, and the images are fascinating. It makes me want to go back and follow along over the course of several days, as it gives you options for varied tours of the city and its Tudor-related locations and monuments. That cover is stunning too. A welcome addition to the travel section... though it could find a home in the history section as well!
