Reece and Cade are both control freaks who are intrigued by one another. Cade is a man-who** and Reece doesn't hide her disdain for it. Cade is her boss at Conquistadors which is the tequila bar he owns with his 2 friends who were all SEALS together. Reece is hired as a waitress, but it is apparent that she knows way more about managing a restaurant than she is letting on. Cade is intrigued but also likes to be in control and losses his mind several times when he thinks Reece oversteps her boundaries.

Reece claims to not want to do anything but waitress and try and move on from whatever happened in New York, but finds herself being drawn into the kitchen to help out their cook who is struggling. She fosters a dog, named Jack, who appears to understand her PTSD symptoms and provides her with comfort and solace. Reece doesn't want to set down roots as her plan is to return to NYC at some point. Her life is easy and she wants to keep it that way.

Cade is feeling restless now that his 2 partners have found the loves of their lives and are moving forward with their personal lives. Cade doesn't feel he wants a commitment with anyone. His childhood was horrific and he bears the scars from that. He knows he shouldn't use women to compensate, but finds himself drawn to it anyway. When Marco and Beck call him out, he reluctantly agrees to tone it down. They also tell him to stay away from Reece because she is an employee.

Both Reece and Cade know they shouldn't get involved, but find themselves willing to cross the line anyway. Cade is intrigued and also gets frustrated with Reece. Reece doesn't want to get attached to anyone or anything so she fights her attraction also. When the two get together, they feel the burn. I liked how Kelly Jamieson shows both of their struggles. The book flowed well, had quite a bit of charm to it and was quite interesting. Cade and Reece were both layered characters and it took a while to find out their whole pasts. I liked how they were both able to connect and accept each other. Overall a good book and worth the time to read it.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

This is a terrific hot-boss romance, with plenty of simmering sexual tension coupled with deep emotional issues and personal tragedies. Reece is running from something in her work-related past, working as a waitress even as she yearns to return to cooking, just not the responsibility of running the kitchen. Cade is the last single partner in the tequila bar he owns with his SEAL buddies, and he has his own hurts and insecurities that keep him from settling down with one woman. They are both strong-willed leaders who frequently butt heads over what's best for the bar/restaurant, but when the secrets start to be reveals, hearts start melting and suddenly everything is a lot clearer, even as it gets more complicated.

The writing is exceptional, grabbing the reader from the very first page and never once letting up. This is one of those "just one more chapter, I promise" stories that you simply can't put down until you're at the beautiful ending. You'll even learn a thing or two (or three) about tequila as you spend the time in this amazing reading experience. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I love this author! I will read anything she writes, she is such a talent. I love sports romances, and she is one of the best, it is not just sex, there is an actual plot and characters you grow to care about. I would give her books as a gift to a friend that loved romance type books.

Loved this book! Reese is working as a waitress at a tequila bar. Even the owners can tell she is working no at a job that she is overqualified for. They just don't realize how over qualified. Reese realizes the cook is over his head in trying to redo the menu & tries to help him behind the bosses back.

Cade is determined not to get serious about anyone. "One & done" is his motto. He doesn't "do" relationships. He's determined not to be hurt again. Reese confuses him. He's interested in her but 3 things hold him back. 1. He can't figure her out. 2. He doesn't date employees. 3. He promised the other partners he'd leave her alone. Why is he drawn to her more & more despite those promises?

Kelly Jamieson writes about gritty characters in real life situations. The anxiety & emotions affecting Reese are the same that could affect anyone today & her reactions are the same. Reese was hurt before & says he won't let his heart get involved again. The other employees & owners at the bar add extra dimension & flavor to the story. The interactions are realistic. Suggestive content, not vanilla.

Cade Hardy likes to be in control but when his newest waitress, Reese Kirkwell, starts to push back at him and his controlling ways it both infuriates and intrigues him. Sparks start to fly and secrets are revealed all while great food is being prepared. I enjoyed this book, my first by Kelly Jamieson, and plan on reading more from her in the future.

It took me a while to start reading Long Shot. I had a backlog of reviews to do before Long Shot. I wish that I had bumped it up sooner because I enjoyed it. I was also surprised by it. Why surprised? I wasn’t expecting the serious side of the book. It took me by surprise. I was not expecting not only the subject but the sensitive way the author wrote about it.

Long Shot is Cade and Reese’s story. Cade is an ex-Seal who is running a tequila bar with two of his ex-Seal mates. Cade is the brains behind the bar, keeping the books. He is also known for his love of the ladies. Reese was a waitress that was hired the end of Hot Shot. She is running from a tragic event. An event that haunts her in the form of anxiety attacks. It also does not allow herself to become attached to anyone. That all changes when Cade notices Reese and takes an interest in her. He makes her feel things that she doesn’t want to feel. He is also determined to help her deal with her issues.

I liked Reese. I felt awful about her PTSD and the event that caused it. When she told Cade about it, I wanted to cry. That is something no one should live through. I will admit, I thought that she was a witch with a b in the chapters before she revealed what happened. Then I understood why she was acting that way. Again, I wanted to cry. I loved that she fostered dogs. That is the first time I have read about the main character fostering an animal. I loved it.

Cade made me laugh. He was such a player. I mean, he had women coming to the bar in tears because he couldn’t give them what they wanted. Cade also had his demons and man, were they awful. I don’t blame him for doing what he was did when he was younger. While he was a love them and leave them type of guy, he had a very sharp mind at business. He poured everything into the bar.

The romance between Cade and Reese did seem a bit forced. I didn’t see a spark between them until almost the end of the book. That is when Reese had to choose between working for her ex or working for Cade. The relationship didn’t flow for me. If that makes sense.

Now while I say the romance was forced, the sex wasn’t. Cade and Reese had some pretty hot sex. Those scenes were steamy and passionate. I loved how Reese knew what she liked and wasn’t afraid to let Cade know it.

The end of the book was pretty typical of a romance novel. All the plotlines were wrapped up happily. I did enjoy reading the epilogue and hope that the author decides to write more books in this series!!

I would recommend that Long Shot be a 20 and older book. There are graphic sex scenes. There is also language. No violence. I would reread this book and I would recommend it to family and friends.

I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group, Loveswept, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Long Shot.

All opinions stated in this review of Long Shot are mine.

I've liked reading this series and was really excited for Cade's book. He's a total cad when it comes to women, so I knew his story would be a good one. It's fun to see the bad boy fall! Reese has baggage, which when you find out what it is, you're like... *Holy #@*&^!* But I'm glad these two stuck it out. Jack is an awesome dog. These friends did a great job - of not only running the tequila bar, but of finding mates who fit them. Sorry to see that this series is over!

This is the third and I believe final title in the Long shot series. Books are about three navy seal friends who opens a bar/restaurant. In this novel Cade the manwhore notices himself being constantly drawn to the new waitress who seems to not be who she says she is. As time goes by while Reese(the heroine) starts up a friendship with the other heroine from past books(Hayden and Carrie) she becomes more intertwine with his friends. Although Marco and Beck tells him not to get involved with the help a situation arises where Cade rescues Reese from and brings them close and eventually becomes lovers. Some serious subjects are mentioned in this novel PTSD, Alcoholism and abandonment issues. A good send off of the series. Reviews will be on goodreads and amazon.

I loved Cade and Reese’s story. It’s filled with hope, strength, and love.

This is my favorite book of the series. I enjoyed both Cade and Reese so much. They are both such strong, intriguing characters and I loved getting to know them and what was holding them back from moving forward with their lives and seeing into what happened in their pasts.

Cade and Reese both have insecurities and fears to overcome and work through and seeing them help each other break down the barriers and to trust and love is beautiful.

A heartfelt story that left me wanting more.

Long Shot by Kelly Jamieson is a wonderfully written book that takes us on the journey back to life for two people, one broken by a traumatic event in their life & one trying to keep emotional distance from love & life for fear of losing again. Cade & Reese are two emotionally damaged people who interact with life on the outskirts of it. They believe love is not available to them because of things in their past. I love how author Kelly Jamieson always deals with real & intense story lines & this book is no different, in dealing with PTSD, grief, personal loss & love. We see the slow & difficult transformation of both characters as they live life again to the fullest & love till their hearts hurt. I’m sad to see this series end if this is the end but I’m glad I got the opportunity to read it, well done.

I had not read the first two books in this series but really enjoyed this book. There was quite a bit going on with both POV, which an absolute must for me in a book with POV. I can't stand when that isn't done well, I find it distracting. This book wasn't distracting. Both main characters had some issues from the past and had some struggles with what was going on between them but we weren't riddled with a bunch of expected drama from miscommunication, etc... It was a quick and easy read that flowed well and kept my attention. I am going to go back and read the first 2 books now!

Kelly Jamieson continues her “Last Shot” series with this sweet and sensual tale of womanizing bar owner Cade Hardy and spitfire waitress Reece Kirkwell.

Reece isn’t really a waitress and she isn’t planning on staying in San Diego for the rest of her life, but for the moment she’s content working at a tequila bar and it would be perfect if she could help revamp the bar’s menu and wasn’t affected by her boss’ flings from constantly parading around. The first she can do, revealing the latter would mean admitting feelings can’t risk.

Cade would love nothing more than a booming business, but getting advice from his new waitress regarding their food seems like a stretch. He’s almost certain she’s hiding something, it certainly isn’t her disapproval of his extracurricular activities, and he’s more than intrigued by her. As they get to know each other better, the employee/employer lines are blurred and soon they’re both helping each other face their fears.

Set against the very familiar to me backdrop of sunny San Diego, the story is an appealing composition of two hardworking, good, loving people who slowly realize they’re perfect for each other and fall in love.

The supporting characters are not only Cade’s business partners but also his best friends and family which includes their significant others who’ve been presented in the previous books. They help Cade and Reece navigate the bumps and turns in the highway of love and wonderfully complement the story as well as the vivid descriptions about the subtle differences between Tequilas. The passages about añejo and silver are so rich they transported me to the small quaint town where the spirit is produced.

Long Shot is book #3 of the Last Shot series by Kelly Jamieson who writes stories you can’t help but want to curl up with. It can be read in order or as a standalone contemporary romance. Told from both points of view. Office-romance. Tortured hero and heroine.

Reece moved across the country ready for a change. Becoming a waitress at Conquistadors was exactly how she embraces her new life. Being a waitress is different than an award winning chef and she faces the dilemma of serving abysmal food. Her nerve in her body screams out in outrage as her hands twitch to get back into the kitchen and create culinary masterpieces. Cade has grown bored with the constant revolving door of women that enter his life. They leave him feeling drained when they always return looking for something more he refuses to give them. The only rule he needs to abide by is to not get involved with the staff. However with Reece by his side rules were made to be broken.

This is the 3rd book in this series. It is absolutely a stand alone book, you don't need to read the other 2 to read this book. So in this book you have Reese who moved from New York and is hiding a secret. Cade is one of the 3 owners of a tequilla bar and he is a black and white guy, very numbers orienated and he is a major player. Reese gets hired on as a waitress but she is starting to dabble in cooking and is making the menu better behind the owner's backs. There are sparks between Reese and Cade but since Reese works for Cade they are struggling to figure out what to do with it.
It is a fluffy beach read. Not a lot of substance almost felt like there were two authors that wrote this book. I enjoy Ms. Jamieson's books so I will read more of them.

This book starts up right where book two left off which was great for me seeings as I read them all back to back. By far Cade’s book here was my favorite in this series, he was the least likely to fall and the one who fell the hardest which was fitting. Both characters have their issues in this book from insecurities in theirselves to PTSD and those issues really helped you relate to these two.

I was a little upset that we didn’t get to read the conversation that had happened between Graham and Reese in the end about LA, but that was just because I wanted to see him get shut down. It wasn’t a necessary scene but I would have laughed because that man is too full of himself.

With that said I must say that this author is quickly becoming a favorite of mine to read and I look forward to reading the next book she releases.

This was my first Kelly Jamieson book, but certainly not my last. I'm not sure how I've managed to not hear about her before given how many romance books I read each year, but I'll be certain to go back and read the previous books in this series so that I can get the stories of the other characters who made appearances in this one. That being said, it's not necessary to read the others first and this can be read as a standalone without much confusion.

Reece is a waitress at a tequila bar in San Diego. She left her home on the east coast after a traumatic experience and is trying to heal and keep herself from getting panic attacks. She keeps to herself and doesn't really get close to anyone. She doesn't let anyone know what she did before she moved to Cali, so she's a bit of a mystery to Cade, especially when he sees that she knows way more about running a restaurant than a waitress would know.

Cade is a former Navy SEAL and is running the bar with his two business partners/former SEAL team members. He likes to be in charge and doesn't really relax much around others, unless of course it's the ladies, since he seems to be with a new one every few days. He suffered a bad biking accident not too long ago and so he's dealing with his own insecurities.

Cade is intensely attracted to Reece. She pushes his buttons and he finds her intriguing. Reece also thinks the playboy is hot and frustrating with his bossy ways, but since she's just there in California temporarily, so the last thing she wants is to start something with the one-and-done man.

The tragedy that Reece experienced was certainly a surprise. I can't imagine going through what she did and coming out of it as well as she did. Sure, she 'ran away' but it's helped to heal and move forward with her life. It doesn't come easy, but I certainly admire her courage and determination.

Most couples are usually opposites, so I was surprised to see that Reece and Cade are so similar. They both like to be in control, are both strong-willed and stubborn. But it works for them somehow. Their chemistry was insanely hot, so I totally felt the love building between them.

I loved the supporting characters, both the leading men/ladies from previous books in the series and of course the kitchen staff, especially Sid..

The book was predictable in the romance and ending, which was a bit disappointing since the rest of the storyline was interesting (not many chef/cooking-centered books out there). But for the most part, this was a good read and I'd recommend if you want a mostly light-hearted romance read.

Reece has moved to San Diego from NYC and end up waitress at the Conquistadors tequila bar. Her goal is to keep her head down, make no friends and do her job. She can't help but finding herself in the kitchen to help create new recipes for the food. Cade is known for always keeping his cool, heck he was a Navy Seal, something about Reece has him losing it way to often. Cade and Reece slowly start a friendship that leads to more.

The dog and the ocean too cute!! Great ending to the Last shot series. I am sad to see it end, Jamieson did give some great peeks into the past couples we meet along the series.

his isn’t a bad book but it’s not brilliant. I could leave it and go do other things in the house and it would not call to me, keep me riveted reading it. Actually, when I started to review I realized I hadn’t finished it, so did a quick read to finish. It’s not a brilliant plot but its a nice story. I think the reason it didn’t excite me is that there are no strong feelings. The characters have issues about happenings in their past but I didn’t get the sense of passion or angst. The writing is good and the pace is good, but it felt superficial. I know there are other books that this author has written that I have liked, like the Aces Hockey series, but for some reason this series is not working for me.

Reese is working at the Conquistadors Tequila Bar. Her boss is Cade, who deals with the finances and supervises the staff. She’s working as a waitress but is having problems with the food served at the bar. She considers it sub-par, and lets her boss know. The bar cook, Sid, tries but he has no imagination and his offerings are very mediocre. I instantly realized that Reese must be a chef, and of course, she is. She was a coming up chef in New York but something traumatic happened and she had to leave New York and establish herself in San Diego for a while. It’s supposed to be temporary.

Cade is a manwhore, and the woman he had one-night stands with frequently upper at the bar, crying for another chance or for him to accept that they had something special. He always lets them down gently but all this groveling from the women causes scorn in Reese. So now I know that she’s attracted to Cade and the scorn is some kind of jealousy.

When it comes out that Reese is a chef and she starts helping with the menu and the cooking, the sales of the bar start rising. Cade and Reese are working together closely and develop a friendship that develops into lovers. Then we learn about their hangups; Cade had an abusive childhood and Reese had a horrible experience in the restaurant she worked in New York and has PTSD. She has a cute dog called Jack that is a foster and she insists she won’t stay with him, since she’s temporary there. Yeah, right.

The story was predictable and the good thing in the book was the chemistry between Cade and Reese. The sex scenes were skimmed over but the good times between the three friends and their girlfriends were enjoyed. It’s a good book, just not great.

Cade and Reece are two souls who understand the depths of nightmares and what they can do to a person. When Cade recognizes that the bartender who has caught his eye understands PTSD he wants to help, little does he know she is helping him too. The back and forth banter between them was fun to read and the sexual tension was off the charts. Loved it!
