Interesting and beautiful book with simple stitches and lots of choice but very definitely for a niche market.

Beautifully illustrated book. The projects are very detailed but are broken down into easy to follow chunks so any level of experience could tackle them. The instructions are well written and easy to understand. Overall a lovely book. Thank You

Tula Pink does it once again as she offers her wonderful illustrations to craft lovers everywhere, this time though hand embroidery. This beautifully photographed book offers tips and tools for beginner and advanced embroiders alike to achieve the best results for their projects. A basic stich guide provides a colorful reference for many of the stitches used to create the samples in the book. Filled with seventeen whimsical designs, including flora and fauna from some of her most popular and beloved fabric lines, will allow you to channel your creativity through color and texture. A must have for any craft lovers library.

I'm a fan of Tula Pink (her fabrics and her quilting books) so I was happy to see this. It's interesting to have a look inside some of her distinctive patterns and is a nice primer on embroidery as well. It's fresh, modern, unique and fun.

I'm fairly new to the embroidery world and I was very excited to have been given a copy of Tula Pink Coloring with Thread. The patterns that are shown throughout the book are all beautiful and inspiring. Although the designs look complex and advanced, once broken down it shouldn't be too difficult for a novice to complete. The book is separated into two parts; a quick-start tutorial and stitch guide in the beginning of the book, followed by the actual designs. The book also states that it comes with a CD that shows full-sized patterns. My one complaint about the book is that the fabric that they've used to demo designs are, at times, very difficult to see (such as the elephant design.) Nevertheless, I'm still very inspired by the designs and will be incorporating the techniques into my work. I would highly recommend this book for all skill levels.

A beautiful book! The images are stunning in their layout, and the various complexity required to make them. Some images would be good for a beginner, while others require more skill to make. Luckily, there is an extensive stitch guide at the beginning that either teaches or refreshes you on how to make the needed stitches, and a guide for each design on how to use which stitch where. The book comes with a cd of the patterns for easy printing out and transferring. According to the intro, the patterns are based on an interpretation of a colouring book, which I would consider buying just based on the designs already featured. If you're looking for something interesting to embroider and only have a few stitches in your repertoire, these are patterns you can tackle and build your skill as you work your way through the book. Highly recommend!

This book is inventive and has `17 outlines taken from Pink's work, but it's pretty clear that she is not an embroiderer. While the colors and stitches are listed for each of the designs, there are no other instructions. Stitchers who want to duplicate the projects shown will constantly have to refer back to the color pictures to see how the design is done.

Another potential problem in the designs is that they are very detailed, far more than is generally the case for embroidery patterns. Many of these details are drawings representing stitches While this is fine for stitchers who want exact copies of the designs, for those who want to exercise more creativity, you may want the leave out some of the lines.

On the plus side. the designs are inventive and have a unique look. Almost all of them are of animals. Many also have smaller elements that could be taken out and used by themselves. There is an excellent stitch dictionary in the beginning of the book with good instructions and illustrations.

The book comes with a CD of the designs, so you can print them off and transfer them easily.

All in all this is a good book for experienced embroiders, for those who do embroidery on cloth. The designs aren't suitable for reproduction using counted methods as many embroidery books have, nor are they suitable for stitchers just starting out.

While these images are absolutely beautiful, I feel like they would only appeal to crafters that have a certain level of experience. They seem a little intimidating. I loved the introduction to the best fabrics to use and all of the stitches that would be used in the book.

This is a beautiful book filled with Tula Pink images brought to life through embroidery. The title is something I wouldn't mind just displaying on a coffee table because of the beauty and artistry of the designs. As for function, this book does an amazing job of explaining and providing direction for the various stitches used. Even someone new to embroidery could gain confidence to complete one of the design projects. All aspects are covered and the instructions, pictures, and outlines are clear enough to follow. This would make a great addition to the embroidery crafter's library.
