Thank you for the opportunities to read this book. I have attempted it on a number of occasions but unfortunately I haven’t been able to get into it.

Sadly this was a disappointing book for me, it didn’t ring true and I struggled with the characters. I have really enjoyed Melissa’s other books but this one just did not resonate and I got to 70% and had to give up

I personally found this too difficult to read as a person with an eating disorder. I have rated this as a midrange read as I did not finish it.

I received this novel from NetGalley.

This novel is raw and honest. It doesn't shy away from the nitty gritty of its controversial subjects.

However, this book should come with a trigger warning. Without it, some of the issues shown in the book could do more harm than good...

This book is well written and well executed. It felt a little forced to me though.

This was a heavy subject YA novel- teen with bulimia and a dash of self-harm and alcoholism on the side. It was veryyy teenage and everyone just needed to tone down on the drama and angst- things didn't seem quite realistic enough.
But it was a good read.

Constantly in the spotlight thanks to her politician father's rising star, Olivia Blakely feels the pressure to be perfect. As the youngest girl in her class, she tries hard to keep up and to seem mature to the older boy she's crushing on, even as she catches his eye. But the need to look good on camera and at school soon grows into an all-consuming struggle with bulimia.

This book was a very intense read due to the subject matter. Bulimia has effected so many people I know and I am glad there is book now out there that tackles such a big issue in a respectable manner. I have never suffered from it so I could be wrong but I thought this showed a good representation on how bulimia effects people (like I said I could be wrong).
When reading it I found the writing style at times got to me but I think it was more due to the fact that it was the mind set of Liv that I had trouble getting into. I ended up giving this book 3 out of 5 stars due to the fact I had trouble connecting to the characters in the book and like I stated before the writing style was an issue at times. I would recommend this book for any young adult or even adult to read due to the subject matter.

I'm conflicted about whether this book deserves three or four stars because there were some aspects that I really enjoyed while other areas fell short for me. I like the mental illness rep but I felt like it could definitely almost be a trigger for some people as there were parts that felt like they almost glorified the mental illnesses that were represented in this book... And it was for that reason that I don't want to rate this higher than three stars. I think it's definitely difficult to represent mental illness accurately though.

*thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin (Australia), TEEN / MIRA for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

1 star.
This was just OK. I ended up skimming most of it. I had wanted to read it because it was about a girl with an Eating Disorder. While I found parts of it interesting, most of it was a bit boring. Nothing much really happened. It was pretty accurate description of what Bulimia is like though which is quite important, because for a story to be good, things like this need to be accurate. I really like the cover. The colours are gorgeous. I really hope others like this better than I did.

I honestly had no idea what this book was about before I started, just that it was written by Melissa De La Cruz and that I had to read it.
Olivia is a politician's daughter who struggles with bulimia, self doubt and her parents high expectations. She believes she is a social outcast with only two friends but things soon change when she manages to get herself invited to the party of the year in the hopes of meeting her art idol but instead catches the eye of the hottest guy in school.
Things are going great for Liv for a while but soon things spiral out of control and she finds that the people you need in your life are the ones you pushed away and that loving yourself is more important than anything else.
Trigger warning for anyone reading this book. This book deals with bulimia, self harm, excessive drinking and drug use. If you feel you would have a tough time reading about any of those topics, particularly bulimia, then I would give this a miss as it was quite hard to read at times and the core of this book focuses on it. My heart went out to Liv and I wished I could give her a hug at times.
One of my favourite things about this novel was that it mentions characters from one of my favourite Melissa De La Cruz novels, I loved being able to see little snippets into their lives.
I also really enjoyed reading about Olivia's love of art and wished there was pictures of the art in the book.
Overall this was a good book and definitely worth the read.
