This book has danger, mystery but most of all humor. Kari is working for the FBI as a decoder and she is exceptional at it so she is asked to go undercover with A.L.F.A, a group of military shifters. She just had to pretend to be a girlfriend to get the prince so they can find the missing shifter Bryon Day who is undercover. Well for all her brains Kari is missing her gracefulness and the problems she gets into are crazy and dangerous but the little instances along the way in the search are priceless but she is a lovable character that you will want to see more of if she makes it out alive.

Milly Seems to get better and better with each book I read from her: This series is one that keeps you on the edge of your seats and each set of characters is easy to connect with and love.

Kari Tomlin works for the FBI deciphering top secret documents. When A.L.F.A. needs someone to act as an agent’s girlfriend on a mission to find missing agent Bryon Day, the FBI offers up Kari. Kari is a very clumsy agent that is best left at her desk away from spilling anything or tripping on something. Why the FBI decides to send Kari is mystery to me. The only explanation I had was that her superiors figured she already knew about the shifters from some of the documents she’s decoded. Kari is excited about the opportunity. Her experience as an FBI agent has all been in the office.

I wondered about Kari’s professionalism when she goes on about how hot all the members of A.L.F.A are. It left me wondering just who she was going to end up with because she was pretty much drooling over each agent she met. But when she sees the picture of Bryon Day, she gets all worked up over just the picture. She’s excited about the opportunity to go on this mission, even if her part is only to act as the agent’s girlfriend. I would have expected her to be a little more upset at being chosen for a task that anyone could have taken.

As you can probably tell, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Kari at first. She predictably falls into the worse scenarios she could possibly find. What I did enjoy was the Indiana Jones feel of the escape Kari and Bryon must make through the tunnels of the city. That is a lot of fun when any move the character makes could trigger some horrible event. This is where I started to like Kari a bit more. Her sarcasm incited some laughs, while her brain helped figure out some of the secret triggers to keep them alive.

The romance is swift since Kari already knows about shifters and what it means to be one’s mate. It’s a relief to Bryon when he doesn’t have to make a big reveal and explain it all. I felt that the romance stayed pretty low key since there was so much action going on. There were many spots that caused a good laugh out loud from me. I don’t think I’m going to be able to hear a particular Lady Gaga song again without thinking of this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed the ride Dangerous Mating took me on. With the danger, action and romance you’re kept on your toes and flipping through the pages to see how this couple survives.

DANGEROUS MATING is sort of like the "Goldilocks" of paranormal romances. It's not too dark, serious, and complex but also not super light, fluffy, and silly. It's just right in the middle which is great to have in a genre. The plot is fast-paced and action-packed- filled with moments that keep you constantly on the edge of your seat yet infused with enough levity that things never get too dark.

There were some far-fetched bits in this book that even the fact that this book has shapeshifter in it (so weird stuff is to be expected) it was sort of a stretch to believe. For instance, Kari had an accident when she was younger that suddenly gave her super math and cryptography skills which explained some curiously impossible abilities in the first few pages but the reason for getting the ability was sort of vague and didn't make too much sense for me. I ended up having to just imagine that she always had awesome math skills because the book reason was not convincing enough for me.

Aside from not being 100% behind the origins of Kari's savant-like skills, I enjoyed her adorable geekiness which matched perfectly with Byron's equally adorable geekiness. I loved seeing her try to figure out the 'puzzle traps' as her stumbling and adorableness helped ease the tension of imminent doom they were facing. Their romance was like the kind of story where two characters are stuck in a locked room and get to fall for each other through a shared experience. Except this locked room ends up being a tunnel of death and it was fun to see them grow quickly together as a couple and team through solving puzzles and trying to survive imminent death. I also liked that they each accepted the bond quickly which skipped all of the drama of convincing each other that they are meant to be. That left room for them to solve the puzzle traps and get to know each other while doing so which led to sexy moments and fun banter.

DANGEROUS MATING is a fun death-defying journey with an adorable couple who are equal matches in geekiness and intelligence. I had a fun time reading this book and it worked well as a standalone story without having to read the previous two books in the series.

Dangerous Mating is an utterly fantastic continuation of this wonderfully brilliant series! It has everything you have come to love with nail-biting action, incredibly stunning characters, and unbelievable passion. There is nothing I love more than falling heart first into one of Milly Taiden’s utterly magical worlds overflowing with a once in a lifetime love that rescues, empowers, and transforms the reader in addition to the extraordinary characters we hopelessly fall in love with. I savored each and every word in this tremendously entertaining and fascinating story that tore my heart to sharp shreds and then reformed it into a beautiful thing too incredible for words.

Wolf Shift Byron Day has been working a dangerous mission for over a year when he is taken prisoner. In order to rescue their fellow agent, the Alpha League Federal Agency puts together a most unlikely rescue team consisting of a fellow wolf shifter and an FBI agent. When Kari Tomlin is offered this strange assignment, she accepts in the hopes of doing some actual good for another person. Her small life has left her too confined and isolated then she wanted, so she hopes this will be the first of many new and life-expanding opportunities. What she doesn’t count on is meeting a wolf shifter that turns her life and heart upside down. She willingly risks everything just for the chance to bring him home safely without asking or hoping for anything in return.

I was absolutely shocked and delighted to find that Kari is such a wonderful person that I immediately related to. I understand her frustrations at how society has pushed her into a mold that she was never meant to fit into. Her exquisite heart is way too big for her small life, and only a shifter could ever do her long suppressed love and kindness the justice it deserves. Byron melted my heart as he slowly but surely fell in love with this amazing woman. He finally saw what everyone around her missed and dismissed. I was a complete goner once I realized that he planned on spending the rest of his life ensuring that he devoted his everything to cherishing and savoring every part of the woman who risked her life to save his without anything in return.

Taiden is one author that redefines and transcends the heart and soul of the paranormal romance genre. Each book is fresh and bold outlining the steps its takes to enthrall and captivate my heart and mind while allowing my soul to sour to unimaginable heights. Nothing compares to her unimaginable creativity, and I know that the best is yet to come.

ALFA Team member Bryon was undercover during a mission, has gone missing and needs someone to come look for him and see what kind of trouble he’s in. To protect their cover while searching for him they enlist the help of a human female FBI agent, Kari. And you know how fated mates stories go from here…

I continue picking up these books because they deliver something that I sometimes need. Some low key paranormal romance. They’re not over the top, but I also know they won’t be throwing me into a complex world. They’re just kind of simple and sexy. I don’t think I was quite in that mood this time around and I found the story a bit boring and predictable. Again, that’s one of the things you kind of go into knowing you’ll get with books like this and I wish I would’ve been in a better mood for that kind of read.

Kari’s character is adorable in a quirky, geeky way. She’s socially awkward because she’s been much better at figuring out numbers and information than people. I really liked her and it was fun to see her stumbling around in some of the more dangerous circumstances because it broke the tension. At the same time, I kind of wish there would’ve been a little less of that so I could’ve dived into the story more.

Bryon and Kari were cute together and I think the setting for their adventure was an interesting one. I would’ve love to see more of it as well but I think it made for a cool and different backdrop for this installment of the series.

If you like Eve Langlais then I think you would enjoy this series. There’s definitely humor and sexiness along with some special ops finding their fated mates. This was light-hearted fun.

Dangerous Mating is a thrilling, on the edge of your seat excitement that takes you under the caves of Nazi tunnels in Germany, with a crazy villain and a fated mates theme that will pull you under into this sensual love tale...

Dangerous Mating is the third book in the latest series by Milly Taiden. I have had the opportunity to read this author over the past few years and have enjoyed her work. She is very quick to read, her writing is highly engaging, I never want to put her books down and they aren't too overly long which is nice at times. Our important key players in the book are:

Bryon Day, an agent for the A.L.F.A. organization, a hidden military organization, with shifter agents who solve crimes. Bryon, while undercover, finds himself captured and being tortured and drugged with no way out.
Kari Tomlin, is an FBI agent and a specialist in cryptography, and she is asked to go into field work in Germany and she is more than thrilled. Not realizing that her life is about to change.

Dangerous Mating is a story that had me on the edge of my seat and I didn't want to let go. I really had a blast with this book, probably a bit more than I expected. I will say that this book isn't too deep, it's really just fun and carefree despite the hints of danger and suspense that this story is riddled with. It is a story of instant love and fated mates, so if that is not your thing, not sure you would enjoy this book. However, if you are like me, where these tropes aren't a problem then you will get a kick out of these two. Both Bryon and Kari are entertaining, have great senses of humor and act on their instincts. Bryon is a wolf shifter, and his people only mate once and still hasn't found his mate. Kari is human, but she does know about shifters since she had a good friend who was mated with one. Ever since she has admired that type of connection these "mates" have with each other. When she goes undercover and ends up embroiled in a dangerous plot and the man that she is searching for is being drugged and held prisoner. She comes up with a plan to save him only to be on the run, hiding out in tunnels trying to make it to safety before the "demented prince", the villain of the story, finds them. As they crawl through caves, trying to get a way out, they both realize pretty quickly what a connection they have and that they are mates.

What I really loved about this couple is how comfortable they are with each other. So at ease, always teasing each other, playing and boy can they KISS!! I felt like I was on fire. They definitely have some powerful chemistry both sexually and NOT. Which was quite wonderful to see. We see that even though they do have some great chemistry, they also become good friends and it truly brings a great balance to the story. Now I will say that the heroine really was so FUN. Seriously, her personality is one that you would want to be friends with. She may not be a field agent but she can kick ass when she needs to and I loved her spunk. Some of her stunts, I was like she is so crazy and I LOVE her for it. She has such a compassionate heart and will do anything to save innocent women and children being sold on the market.

There isn't much drama except for the plot lines with them being hunted and all. But as far as their relationship goes, it was smooth sailing which was quite refreshing. They just instantly are drawn to each other and they don't fight what they feel for each other, only embrace and accept it for what it is. A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!!

The first thing that I have to tell you about Dangerous Mating is that the heroine is an unexpected delight. Kari seems to be an unlikely agent with some quirky and unorthodox ways about her and she seems to be a little on the ‘accident prone’ side but yet at the same time she fits right in and delights readers. All the characters are strong, compelling and grab reader’s attention but Kari’s rescue of Bryon is draws readers in as the couple find themselves on a treacherous path to safety. Their romance is hot and steamy but filled with danger which keeps readers turning each and every page.

The action and suspense keeps readers on the edge of their seats with twists and turns that also keep them guessing. The bad guys are the kind that evoke all kinds of emotions from readers as they root for Kari and Bryon to take them down.

Milly Taiden has brought another world to life with her well written words that paints vivid images and ensure that the readers feel as if they are a part of the story. The A.F.L.A. world is full of suspense, danger, excitement and captivating and sexy characters and I can’t wait to read the next one.

This story is as if someone took a basic romance synopsis and character breakdown from the 60′s and tried to sort of update it for today. Kari is a brilliant cryptologist, my issue with her character is that for some unexplained reason she has no social skills. Even though her interactions with her coworkers, bosses, strangers, and bad guys are totally normal. Being single is one thing, but her lack of friends makes no sense. There is a weak explanation about her coming across as a conspiracy theorist when it comes to food, but as many people as there are that are anti GMO, farm to table, and vegan as there are for the things she brought up in conversation I don’t see why she would be friendless. Also she couldn’t just be smart because she is smart, it had to be the after effect of accidental brain trauma. Finally she is a clutz and has no common sense. She can’t be trusted to walk a straight line or be on her own for 5 minutes without some disaster happening.

The mission she is sent on is important, so why only send one person from ALFA and a cryptologist with no field experience or self defense abilities? They made it clear that while ALFA is it’s own organization several other people in government know about them and shifters, including Kari. They didn’t need a cryptologist, they simply needed a woman. But I am supposed to believe that in the DC area at FBI headquarters she was the only woman anyone could think of to go on a retrieval mission in another country?

Byron is a cookie cutter shifter hero. I liked him well enough, but the insta love was a bit much. There was even a remark he made that he knew everything about her, even though they knew only each other for a matter of hours. You can not use scent to know everything about a person, but whatever.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, and I won’t be anticipating the release of any future books. There are so many other urban fantasy series with shifters that are so much better.

Kari= a very smart yet clumsy woman. Damn is she clumsy, but she is like super smart. And you can tell she was getting tired of her job, maybe it was the loneliness of no friends at the FBI.
After breaking an important code, her life changes. Boy what a difference, she is sent on a mission. But she is just supposed to be a girlfriend to the agent. The agent who would be doing all the work.
Yeah, that doesn't work the way it should. Because, well its Kari!
I did love this story, and all that went with it.
Bryon= as much as he wanted to be the hero, it didn't work for him. Well, not much at the beginning. He wasn't able to do much. But once he was with Kari, well they definitely worked well together. They were able to get the job done, save each other and other people involved.

*I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Bryon is either a very cocky man, or he's very confident, “you forget, I’m an ALFA, baby. No way I’ll ever give up on this, on you, on us.” Bryon sometimes wonders about his woman, "his brows rose high. “You’re gonna blame me for you suddenly going crazy and facing down a plane?” I liked this book, I loved Bryon his woman was saucy, fearless and smart.

Dangerous Mating by Millie Taiden is the 3rd book in her A.L.F.A. series. Though each book revolves around an A.L.F.A. agent and finding his mate, these do read very well as standalones.

Kari Tomlin, our heroine, is an FBI agent, specializing in breaking codes (cryptographer) and when she is asked to join an undercover assignment for A.L.F.A, she is thrilled. Supposedly this is an easy assignment, pretending to be a tourist and girlfriend of an agent, when they go to a small country in Europe to try and find a missing agent. Kari is bored, and this is a chance to travel have some fun. Of course, this is going to be everything but fun.

Bryon Day, a wolf shifter agent and our hero, is presently a prisoner being tortured, because the Prince of the country thinks he is a shifter, something Bryon is trying to hide. After another torturous session, he opens his eyes to see and smell something beautiful….his mate. Bryon sees Kari and tries to understand what she is doing in the dungeon of the castle. Seems while doing tourist activity, Kari stumbles on the castle trying to find a bathroom (yeah it is funny), and instead lands in the mansion with the evil Prince and Bryon. What follows is an exciting adventure, where Kari will help Bryon escape through the maze of the hidden tunnels in the castle. Every step of the way the find themselves in dangerous and death defying situations, as they help each other, the mate bonding between them gets stronger and hotter. In all Milly Taiden stories, you come to expect things to get wild and crazy, as well as being very steamy; this is no different in Dangerous Mating. I did think some of things Kari got into were a bit farfetched, but in those tense moments, the silly fun was a release.
Dangerous Mating was an exciting, fun, action packed story line, with Taiden’s trade mark humor throughout. Kari and Bryon did make a great couple. If you enjoy paranormal romances, with humor and suspense, as well as a hot sexy read, then you should be reading this series.
