Good story line; well written, easy to read.
Family still greiving after loss of a family member while they were children, an ex-wife reappears, & a missing child. Would recommend to others.

A nine-year-old is missing.
Did she run away or was she kidnapped.
Kidnapped is the consensus.
The suspect could be anyone - a single person or a team.
The drama begins with the ring of the doorbell.
Angela and Michael didn’t expect to see his ex-wife, Erica, on their front porch. What Erica had to tell Michael was a shock.
Erica’s daughter is the nine-year-old missing, and she wanted Michael to help her. The reason she wanted Michael to help was an even bigger shock.
We follow the investigation as it gets thicker by the minute and brings in a similar case that might be connected.
The characters all seemed to be guilty, and they all seemed to have secrets with Angela being the only one who had no clue about anything going on.
SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER is filled with Mr. Bell’s signature tension and suspense. His hints and hanging situations at the end of each chapter were strong enough to make you not want to stop reading.
And....I couldn't stop reading as the characters and the search became more complex, more intriguing, and had me scratching my head.
BRAVO, Mr. Bell.
Another suspenseful story line with an ending to ponder and to discuss. 5/5
I received an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

Suspenseful and a good read. The story went in lots of different directions, but tied it up nicely at the end.

Pretty good twists. 3.5 stars

I have read several of David Bell’s books now and they have all been great with the edge of your seat, biting your nails, suspense and thrills.
This new book, Somebody’s Daughter, has a great premise and plot. After all, we are talking about a missing child so there is suspense built in just within that aspect.
But something was missing in this book. When the doorbell rang and he found out who was standing on the other side, I knew what direction this book is going to take. I was not wrong by much and the path of the story he took was a bit too obvious.
Don't get me wrong. The author did include plenty of those key twists to keep us on our toes and keep us connected to the story. But the foreshadowing was not subtle enough and I think that is the difference between this book being a great read and something that just can’t be missed.
David Bell has brought us some great crime fiction suspense stories and this one is a very good story. It is a story that will keep you entertained, keep that heart rate up just a little bit, and keep you wondering what if…

Michael is enjoying a quiet night in with his wife when the doorbell rings, outside stands his dramatic ex-wife who he hasn’t seen in ten years. She explains her reasoning for bothering him as her daughter is missing and that Felicity, her nine-year-old daughter is also his daughter. He has no idea what to believe, but Erica convinces him that it is in his best interest to help her look for Felicity. But can his current wife be able to accept a child from an old relationship? What really happens to Felicity?
This is definitely my favorite from David Bell so far! He drops you right into the action and it is fast paced through the entire novel. The chapters are the perfect length and I loved that the chapters went back and forth between the different characters. The different perspectives really allow you to see everything that is going on and even what’s happening on the police’s end. There are quite a few characters in this novel, but David made it easy to keep track of who is who. Everyone is this family is hiding something and he makes you wonder which one of them is involved, if any of them at all.
This novel has a very tense atmosphere throughout and it is immediately riveting right from page one. There are a lot of twists and turns that keep you guessing to who has Felicity. I didn’t know who had the child until the chapter before you find out, it was a good surprise and there was one twist that was jaw dropping to me! I loved that each chapter left you hanging on what was going on with that specific character, so there was never a good place to end and you just wanted to read the whole thing in one sitting! Overall, an amazing, quick read!
Thank you NetGalley for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Easy to read, intense, twists I never saw coming
Michael and Angela are having fertility issues, but they have a good marriage, a happy life. Until one day, Michael's ex-wife, Erica, shows up and says that her 9 year old daughter, Felicity, is Michael's daughter that resembles his dead sister and that Felicity is missing. No one saw the girl in her park with her mother--so is the mother lying? This books takes place over the course of just one crazy, life-changing night that compels Angela to wonder how well she knows Michael and Michael to wonder if Erica is stable.
The characters were very well drawn, the plot moved quickly and there were twists I never saw coming. This was a captivating, unpredictable, fast-paced psychological thriller.

David Bell has easily made his way into the list of my favorite mystery authors. While I don't think this book is his strongest book, it is still pretty amazing.
Michael Frazier's ex-wife suddenly and unexpectedly shows up at this doorstep one evening, telling him that her daughter has disappeared. He hadn't heard anything about this daughter before, but what's worse, his ex tells him that the daughter is probably his. To top it off, the girl looks an awful lot like Michael's daughter who died in an accident when they were young and when Michael was supposed to look after her. This compels him to join the search for the girl, even if it is late at night and all of it may be a tall tale from an unstable mind.
This is the beginning of the story that rapidly unfolds in ways that nobody could see coming, mostly because everybody involved have hidden things from each other and as it unfolds, the matters get more and more complicated.
I loved the story and the premise, but there are some things that didn't jive entirely with me, primarily how much madness Michael is willing to accept. That being said, I'm still looking forward to David Bell's next book.

MY REVIEW OF “SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER” BY David Bell Berkley July 2018
Kudos to David Bell, Author of “Somebody’s Daughter”for such an intense, captivating, enthralling, riveting, suspenseful and intriguing novel. Did you ever wonder who would ring your doorbell, in the evening, especially when you are not expecting anyone? If it is David Bell, and he starts his story with this beginning you only have to imagine what he has in store for you. I love the way that David Bell provides clues, and vividly describes the characters and locations in his stories. The Genres for this story are Mystery, Suspense, Thriller, and Fiction.
The author describes his colorful cast of characters as complex and complicated. There are deep dark secrets, and any one of the characters can be suspects in this mystery. There are twists and turns.
Michael Frazier and his wife Angela are having a peaceful evening, until the door-bell rings. They are not expecting anyone, and of course once Michael opens the door, things are not going to be the same again. Standing in the door-way, is Michael’s ex-wife Erica.
Erica shocks Michael by telling him that Felicity her daughter is missing, and the police are involved. Michael never knew that Erica had a daughter, and it seems that Erica was married to Michael at that time. Could this be Michael’s daughter as well? Erica shows a picture to Michael of Felicity, that reminds him of his deceased sister Robin.
Michael feels he has to accompany Erica to get some answers to why Felicity is missing and who would take her. Angela has many reservations about this, and yet lets her husband leave with Erica.
There is danger and I felt a high amount of tension, as Michael goes along on Erica’s quest. The more information, and the more characters that Michael meets, seems to put him in jeopardy. Who can be trusted? Even Michael’s family seems to be suspicious.
I enjoyed this fascinating adventure and would highly recommend it to readers that enjoy a suspenseful and intriguing mystery . I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Awhile back I bought several David Bell novels after reading an interview with the author. I had forgotten all about them until I read Somebody's Daughter. At first, I thought it was going to be the same I have a crazy ex plot. Then it became more of a Bermuda Triangle kinda thing. This book is definitely a must read for those that love twists and turns and mind games. Bell's other novels will definitely be bumped up a few notches on my TBR list.
Thank you to #BerkleyPublishers and #NetGalley for the ARC.

David Bell did not disappoint with his latest novel, Somebody’s Daughter. It is a fast-paced psychological thriller that had me captivated from the first page to the last.
Angela and Michael Frazier have just finished dinner when they hear a knock at the door. From that dusky evening till morning light, the reader is taken on a long, fitful, twisting and turning night, trying to find nine year old Felicity, who went missing from Michael’s exe, Erica’s car that morning.
With multiple suspects, fabulous characters and mind bending clues, Bell had me guessing till almost the very end. Bravo!

This was my first David Bell book and it won’t be my last. He is such a good storyteller. This is such a complex psychological thriller with so many twists, there was no way my theories could hold up. I really enjoyed it. The characters were well developed and each of their stories well thought, out but man it was hard to trust or like anyone. That’s when you know the writer did his job and kept the mystery alive.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book.

It's time for their tenth anniversary and the last person he expected on his porch was his ex. She says someone has stolen his child. He didn't even know he had one. And the more he learns, the less he's sure about what's true...
Berkley and Net Galley shared this book with me for review (thank you). It will be published July 10th.
He's almost positive it's not his. The dates don't match but he left the birth control to her. Now he and his current wife are trying for one desperately and the ex says his has been kidnapped.
Everyone knows pieces of the total but no one knows the whole story...
As you follow the trail of clues and try to paste the truth together, you find out why those ahead of you haven't done it yet. It's not a sweet tale, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat!

the book was very interesting. Plot was well developed. really enjoyed this book and the characters.

I really enjoyed reading David Bell's novel in 2015 and I was eager to see what 2018 brought with the novelist's first hardcover published. Full of twist and turns, the novel does not disappoint as one night unfolds for over 400 pages. Isn't that crazy?!
The story revolves around that of a young girl's disappearance. It appears that Michael and Angela Frazier are living their perfect life with their perfect house and their squeaky-clean routines until the ex-wife shows up asking for help about her missing daughter. At that point everything Angela thought she knew about Michael goes out the window because this is the first time Angela hears about the existence of the daughter Felicity. We kind of sort of don't know if Michael knew about Felicity either.
'Who is the bad guy here?' is the obvious thread, and quite surpisingly it could have been the sister, the mom, the ex-wife, the music teacher and the ex-wife's ex-boyfriend. Throw in a babysitter or a neighbor and we've got ourselves a twisted tangle of a hot mess. I loved the fast paced writing and how it truly kept me guessing. The part played by the lead detective was also well written-- so many angles and this is how we get that one crazy night spilling into over 400 pages. Oh and there's a dog, too. Every aspect you expect from a thriller is here for our enjoyment - five stars all the way to the bank.
(Review will post on my blog later -- June 21)
If you like Ruth Ware, Gillian Flynn, Mary Kubica then add David Bell to your want-to-read list.
The absolute best part is that David Bell has several other titles for me to investigate. Sad though that my local library owns just one. Get with the program, Rockwall!

This is a fast-paced thriller which takes place within a 24-hour period. There are many twists and turns within the plot.

This started out pretty well and ended interestingly enough however, the middle just seemed to drag for me. I thought there were just too many needless details and time consuming words. The plot was simple but good.

Thank you netgalley, the publicist and David Bell.
This is my first book and surely not my last from this author.
What a page turner where you can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Surprise ending.

First book by David Bell, but not my last! I try to read multiple books at a time, but this was hard to switch from, because it's written in a way that keeps you entwined on each page. Loved the way it's written, the detailed characters, and twists and turns and suspense.
Will highly recommend and rate and review in Chapter Chatter Pub!

I am a huge David Bell fan! I recommend his books to anyone and everyone I can. I am not sure if I set myself up with too high of expectations for this one. I was so excited to get my hands on a copy that I could not resist to just dive right in! As typical Bell fashion, it did keep my interest - that is one thing I love about his writing - his ability to leave you hanging at the end of each chapter, so there is never a good stopping point. You must read in one or very few sittings!

Beautifully written, entertaining, a little quirky and brilliant. Before I say anything else, I want my readers and friends to know that there is not one thing about this book that is anything but great.
The characters have the same sorts of flaws you will find in every family, maybe your own. Too many secrets. Too many misunderstandings. David Bell brings them all to life. Some I loved, some I didn’t. Perfect.
The coolest thing about this story? The characters found out what was happening about the same time I did. I admit that I thought I had the whole thing figured out by about half way through the story. I was wrong, so I looked for different answers, different clues. I came up with alternate theories...several of them. One of them was actually right, but I can’t give myself much credit...the characters found out on the same page where I had my “aha!” moment. Drat. I think I’m pretty good at figuring things out. Much credit to the author.
This is a book, a story, that I believe most people will enjoy. Where is the missing girl? What happened and why? And the biggest question of all...who is her father? Grab a copy today, find out the answers and...
Enjoy!
