In the Eye of the Storm / Catering to the CEO by Samantha Chase

I quite enjoyed In the Eye of the Storm, but did not finish Catering to the CEO. I just didn't like Adam, which made me not care what happened in this story. I could never fall for a guy like him.

In the Eye of the Storm was a much lighter and happier story, and I even laughed a couple times! I really love forced proximity/stranded together romances, so this one was fun. I really liked Holly and Stephen, and found their interactions to be super entertaining.

I ended up giving this book another attempt, and unfortunately, I did not like it. The writing style was just not to my taste, and it made the book difficult to get through because of it.

I always enjoy a good Samantha Chase romance, and this duo was no exception! The characters in both stories are memorable, and have sweet romance elements. I was a little thrown by having a Stephen in both stories, but I got over it pretty quickly.

I loved the writing in this one! I really enjoyed how Samantha created these characters that were flawed but perfect for each other

My rating and review is for In the EYE of the Storm only. I DNF'd Catering to the CEO. If you are a fan of books where the boss and his assistant fall for each other, you will enjoy this one. I loved the main characters. They had great chemistry and I was rooting for them. It's definitely worth a read.

IN THE EYE OF THE STORM

LOVED Holly and Stephen!

Holly has worked for Stephen for 3 years. Working 14 hour days and most weekends to appease the man she has secretly had a huge crush on for most of the time in his employment. But a middle of the night demand to come and pick up his drunk self, in the middle of one of worst storms - pushes her over the edge.

The last thing Stephen wants to do is lose Holly. But he must make the decision on whether he wants to keep her as his right-hand person at work OR explore whether there is something that he never thought of before - Love.
I really loved these two together. They were so in sync and their banter and ease with each other, even in the awkward times was great.

CATERING TO THE CEO

Adam and Cassie seem like total opposites. Adam is the staunch CEO who doesn’t have time for a personal life and family. Cassie is loved by all and her life revolves not only around her family but her catering business. Not only is Adam one of Cassie’s toughest clients but now he’s going to be a part of her family - with his mom marrying her Dad.

Adam planned on firing Cassie after she stood up to him and refused to give in to his demands but the more time he ends up spending with her, the more he starts to see the parts of Cassie that appeal to him as a man.

I loved Cassie from the start. Adam was a little harder to love. It was as if he was bi-polar, but making him the guy you love one minute and hate the next keeps the storyline moving along.

I enjoyed Cassie and Adam’s journey!

I haven't read a Samantha Chase book that I haven't liked. These two were good! They were a little less clean than I am used to with her work but that was okay. Both stories have to do with big shot bosses and employees of some sort. Usually I don't like this kind of book but Samantha handled it well!

Review: In the Eye of the Storm and Catering to the CEO are two books in one and it took me by surprise since both were full length novels. Both titles were spot on to their story and I enjoyed them both.

In the Eye of the Storm has Holly giving her boss, Stephen, hell when he wakes her at 2 am to give him a ride home. Never mind that he could have called a cab or his driver. After getting Holly out of bed and having her drive through torrential rains she lets him have it with both barrels. Needless to say he’s clueless. He also gets stuck with her at his house for several days due to the storm which has trees down left and right. When they hash it out they realize there’s a big attraction between them which he was oblivious to and she’s had fantasies about. The chemistry is there too when they get out of their own way but will it matter in the end?

There are family and friends, lots of work, travel and deals, sadness, tears, anger, hurt, miscommunication, secrets, romance, loving and ultimately love. The story takes a lot of twists and turns since she’s his personal assistant and they don’t know if they want to blur those lines or keep things status quo. His business and her role in it are front and center and when things spin out of control Holly isn’t very professional. But is that what Stephen needs to open his eyes to what’s in front of him? His friends, especially Derek, don’t always have Stephen’s best interests in mind with their words and actions. Judy, Holly’s sub whenever she’s out, has a backbone at times which isn’t what Stephen wants to see or is it? The description of his huge house for one person was eyeopening and made me feel at home. There is a happily ever after that didn’t seem it would come to fruition and the epilogue gave closure and tied up the loose ends.

Catering to the CEO has Cassie and Adam at odds as soon as the story opens. She’s been a caterer and event planner for his company for two years and they are going head to head when he wants to change the menu for an event and she’s had enough. He’s always pushing her or his employees to get what he wants and sees no reason not to handle things his way until she calls him on it. It’s a love/hate relationship that we see from then on especially when things in his personal life turn his life upside down! Neither wants to back down or give in but given how he treats people and deals with them she assumes she’ll end up on the short end and won’t be working for him anymore.

There are lots of family, Cassie’s being close knit and his being just him and his mom and he doesn’t have much room in his life for her, jobs, businesses, lots of planning, illness, food, food and more food, sadness, tears, anger, hurt, happiness, laughter, hard work, loving and ultimately love. There are twists and turns to the story and one minute Cassie and Adam are on the same page and the next they’re not. The descriptions of the beach and Adam’s beach house were vivid and made me feel that I was there. Watching them take one step forward and many more back was heartbreaking and Cassie doesn’t know how many more times she can do it with him running hot one minute and cold the next. There is a happily ever after in the offing and some closure but an epilogue would have been nice.

Chase is one of my favorite authors of contemporary romances. I look forward to reading more of her books.

Samantha Chase is one of my favorite contemporary romance writers. I love that this book contains two of hers stories. They were both fantastic reads that I quickly zipped through.

Two great reads that will remind you that sometimes the one person that drives you absolutely crazy could be the one that completes you in every way.

Samantha Chase does it again by delivering two more great reads. I especially loved Eye of the Storm and how Stephen thought it was okay to call his assistant up at 2 o'clock in the morning to get him from a bar. These two books are a must read. Can't wait to see what Samantha Chase will write next.

4.5 Hearts SJ, Romance Junkies

Samantha Chase writes feel-good romances, and these two office romance novellas are just the thing to bring a smile to your face. They're fun, sexy but not overly, and have the requisite conflict and happily ever after readers want.

In THE EYE OF THE STORM, Holly Abrams has had it with her demanding boss, Stephen. Sure, he's sexy as sin, but he takes her for granted, and she's tired of it. When she finally puts her foot down, Stephen starts seeing her in a different light. Suddenly the sparks are flying, but interfering friends might sabotage what could be a great thing between them.

The second novella, CATERING TO THE CEO, involves two enemies who become lovers. Cassie Jacobs is a caterer and tired of dealing with millionaire CEO Adam Lawrence's snobbery and nit-picky ways. But when their parents become engaged, the pair are forced to mingle. Misunderstandings grow clearer, and Cassie realizes Adam isn't so bad. He's actually quite lovable, that's if he'd let go of the past and allow himself to be happy. This story also dealt with a women's health issue in a way that was very well done, bringing attention to something too many women deal with.

I read the original of these stories and loved them then and love them even more now. Great stories.

I received an arc from Netgalley. A very enjoyable read. Cass and Adam at first have a love hate relationship but when they find out her Dad and his Mom are getting married it becomes a little too close for comfort.

Thrown together in situations and events they find they have more in common than they thought and they can’t deny the attraction. Great read and definitely 4 stars

This is not just one but two highly entertaining, sweetly sexy, action packed and emotional romantic journeys filled with love, laughter and happily ever after... I really enjoyed reading both of these commentary romances both couples where fun to read and had me rooting for them from beginning to end. Read both stories straight through and was completely captured by both.

"Samantha Chase has delivered two of her classic fun and sexy stories in one book. "In The Eye of The Storm" we meet Stephan and Holly, a workaholic and his assistant. Sparks will fly, awareness will be an eye opener for the two of them that leaves the reader laughing and crying at the same time. Not a smooth journey to their awareness of each other, thanks some to Stephan's friend, they do find their way to a HEA.

In "Catering to the CEO", Adam was a man that was hard to like. Rigid and a bit on the nasty side, it seemed nothing pleased him for long. When it didn't please him, he just simply discarded it, including people. Cassie was just the woman that could make a dent to that rigidness, but it didn't come easy for either of them. Their story is fun with many emotions running through the reader as Cassie and Stephan find their HEA.

Classic reading of two great romance stories in one, these fun reads never go out of style. I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for gifting me "In the Eye of the Storm/Catering to the CEO". My opinion is my own. 4.5 Stars!

Two books in one, “In the Eye of the Storm / Catering to the CEO” is about finding love in the workplace. And in this two novellas, Samantha Chase gave two very likely scenarios – the boss from hell. Or, is it? The romance simmers until they boil over. Then voila! The kisses turn steamy… and the rest is their love story.

This book has two stories in it. The first being Holly who gets a call at two in the morning from her boss wanting her to pick him up at a bar. Raining and stormy it is only worse when he is inside her car listening to her vent about not having a life because of him. When getting to his home and having to spend the weekend together turns into what Holly had always wanted. She hopes for the best, but is thrown for a loop once Monday comes around and work is back in order. After two weeks of feeling worse than ever Stephen who does not believe in love or marriage is thrown a curve ball because she is not in work and no one knows where she is. Now he must decide on sanity or business. A good story. The second story is about a caterer Cassie who has millionaire Adam Lawrence running circles around himself and others because she drives him crazy and does not act like everyone else and think that he is the end all be all. The end of this story is very funny and makes up for the moments that this story drags at times. Overall a good book, I liked the first story better than the second, but both are fast reads.
