Savage: The Awakening of Lizzie Danton is a dark contemporary romance written by L.A. Fiore. You will get addicted to this after the first chapter.

My heart broke in the beginning with Brochan and Lizzie’s childhoods. I have never been able to understand why parents would do crazy and unspeakable things to a child that they are supposed to protect. Brochan and Lizzie romance was a slow burn. But once it got started, I basically fell in love with Brochan right along with Lizzie. He may have had a bad reputation around this Scotland town but he is such a sweetheart in private. Throughout this story, you were thrown one twist after another. I loved every twist, each one was better than the last.

L.A. Fiore writing has me wanting to take a trip to Scotland, so I can see all the landscapes and towns that were perfectly described in this book. Out of all the books I have read by this author, this one had me feeling every emotion. I highly recommend this book to every book-lover who enjoys a good modern day fairytale.

Savage by L.A. Fiore was a hauntingly dark beautiful love story. After the first few chapters my heart was ripped to shreds.... Both Brochan and Lizzie had terrible upbringings, a past they would rather forget. But rather yet, destined for love, with one another.

“You’re not broken; you’re just bent.” This quote left a big imprint on my heart, Lizzie made Brochan whole again, and also the other way around. They’re not broken, just a little bent.

Savage is a broken fairy tale that by the end, will leave you in tears!

5 forever favorite stars!! I have had some really great reads lately but this is by far my favorite!!

🖤This is the story of two terrible childhoods...

Lizzie~ I was the mistake. Nobody wanted me and damn if all I wanted was someone. It wasn’t until I met my best friend that I finally felt like I had someone. And then a chance at something new in a whole new continent changed my whole world...

Brachon~ I was the child that killed his mother. I was evil. My dad was going to cleanse me of my evil or just kill me. Either way my odds didn’t look good. Until one day this fierce woman started me on a new path and changed my whole world...

💭My thoughts...

I wish I could make this book like 5.5 stars just so I could show this is one of my like all time favorites!! I never had a thing for Scotland but after this book, I want to go soooo bad!! And apparently I now have a thing for a man in a kilt!! My heart belonged to this poor broken man since he was a child. Damn Finlay McIntyre!! That evil disgusting man. Thank goodness there was so much more beautiful that lifted this story and though it only took a woman like Lizzie to find it all. She is a damn gem! As much as I am in love with Brochan, I love Lizzie just as much. Perfection!!

This book drew me in with that beautiful cover and intriguing blurb. There was so much happening in this book that I was entranced. So much emotion ,whether it be happiness, fear, anger, sadness, love, lust, disgust or hope, it made you tingle. I rode that roller coaster with these characters and it was one hell of an amazing ride. This author was amazing at portraying all these wonderful things but she also knew just the right words to keep you anticipating the next page.

**I received this book as an ARC and in return gave my honest review**

SAVAGE … I don’t even know where to begin. Different. Dark. Raw. Brutal. Perfect. Definitely one of my favorite reads in 2017.

L.A. Fiore is slowly but surely becoming one of my go-to authors. There’s just something about her books that captivates, enthralls me and has me addicted and in awe every single time. Her stories are just incredibly beautifully crafted, her characters stunningly bent, but not broken (contrary to what Brochan thinks of himself), and just so perfectly flawed that you cannot help but fall for them … immediately. Add to that the intensity and endless suspense and angst the storyline brings, and it becomes hard to stop reading. Plus, there is this air of mystery, the feel of fairy tales, the fear of witches, monsters and dungeons, the flair of castles and history, and last but not least the setting in Scotland, which make a heady, vibrant and mesmerizing combination. It’s a truly beauty – perfection – from the first to the last page – and that’s not even taking into account how much I loved Scotland before already. But latest after reading this breathtaking love story – which is not a paranormal romance at all, mind you – and after picturing the landscape that is vividly described within the pages, you will want to visit the wild and untamed beauty that are the highlands of Scotland yourself!

Brochan … a broken, broody, closed-off, even cold man, who is feared by the locals – which is no wonder thanks to all the countless, although partly ridiculous, but not at all positive rumors that are surrounding him. Yeah, he definitely had that dark, mysterious and dangerous vibe going for him. Every characteristic of a bent/broken and intense, maybe even slightly scary hero that I just cannot resist.

And neither could Lizzie. She is not deterred by his cold, standoffish demeanor and is vacant, icy blue eyes – no. She keeps on appearing at places she has no right to be at exactly the right time and is not afraid to dig deeper into everything Brochan is hiding. She is not afraid of the dark, and definitely not of Brochan. …and she needs a strong stomach for what she is about to find out about his past. It’s ugly, devastating and disturbing. Definitely excruciatingly painful and the events that created the man – the monster – that Brochan is today. Only she doesn’t see a monster. Despite what he wants her to see, she not only sees below his surface, but also doesn’t expect him to hide the darkness inside him either…

Their romance definitely has an edge and plenty of darkness to it, but it is also a true beauty of a story about the power of love, of healing, of forgiveness and redemption. It’s deep and wickedly sexy and broken and haunting and just … sublime.

I’m not sure what else to say, and before I start running in circles while gushing about how special this story is to me and how I will keep it close to my heart forever, I will just say this:
READ THIS FREAKING BOOK!!!

I devoured Savage: The Awakening of Lizzie Danton by L.A. Fiore. This book had all the feels. Our main characters were dealt with very difficult beginnings, but their journey brought them right where they belonged.

Brochan was an innocent child left in the hands of a man who blamed him for something that was out of his control. My heart just broke for him. Lizzie grew up in a home where she always felt unwanted and unloved. Both were extremely impacted by how they were raised.

Brochan and Lizzie were so lost and broken. I loved Brochan. He considered himself broken, and though he was, he was so much more. Though Lizzie did not grow up in a loving home and was also damaged by her past, even so, she was a caring and loyal person.

I absolutely loved this book. It was darker than other LA Fiore’s books I have read, but was just as powerful and captivating. I also found it had a bit of a fairytale feeling to it that I just loved. It fit this story perfectly, in my opinion. Definitely a book to pick up and get lost in. Emotional, sad and beautiful journey of love, healing and redemption.

Savage is the story of Lizzie and Brochan. The story takes you from the beginning of their lives with horrible childhoods to adulthood. Brochan’s upbringing shaped him into being a killer. He has set out to right the wrongs of the world and take out people that do harm. Lizzie works through her pain by becoming a painter and it fulfills her. These two meet when an aunt that Lizzie didn’t know she had leaves her an estate. This sends her to Scotland and into the arms of Brochan.

I really enjoyed Brochan and Lizzie’s story. Their childhoods were extremely sad. Lizzie’s ended up being quite lonely because she ended up alone and abused in a boarding school. Brochan also suffered horrible abuse but he had the love of the staff that tried to protect him as well as Lizzie’s aunt Brianna.

If you love stories about two lost and lonely souls finding love, then you will love this book. To top it off it is set in the Scottish Highlands. Sexy men in kilts are involved.
The author also did a great job with the secrets and twists towards the end. I didn’t see any of that coming so it was a nice surprise. Well done!

Soon as LA Fiore says she is releasing a new book I get super excited and she has NEVER disappointed me! This is such a beautifully dark and captivating story of two beautifully damaged people. They were broken by those that should love and protect them.

LA Fiore knows how to write a story that has you gripped from the very first page through to the very last. You will be unable to put the book down until you have finished. I was completely blown away with the twists and turns in the storyline. The characters were relatable and you couldn't help but love them.

Lizzie and Brochan really get under your skin, their pain really calls to you. Their pasts and pain really drew them together, they could understand each other without judgements
"We were bound by something stronger than lust and desire, even heartache and pain. We had both survived"

I simply adored Lizzie and Brochan, together they were beautifully strong, they hadn't been broken they had just been bent!

"Be the voice in the dark, Lizzie."
She touched my face. "and the one in the light."

All the descriptions and talk of Scotland and Edinburgh makes me want to go and visit my relatives up there. She has pained so a beautiful vision of Scotland and believe me she isn't exaggerating.

Gahhhh I need a minute. I'm trying to catch my breath after the amazingness (new word) I just read. I absolutely loved this story. Brochan and Lizzie were just perfect! His growly alpha demeanor, her sassiness and their chemistry. I could not get enough of their story!

The minute I read this blurb I knew I needed to read this story. I have a sick obsession with fairytales so to have the amazing LA Fiore write a dark fairytale set in Scotland - I was consumed! I loved this story from beginning to end. Lizzie Danton and Brochan McIntyre have similar backgrounds.Without giving away any spoilers, they were both raised in heartbreaking circumstances which shaped them into the people they became. I wanted to give them both a hug as it was crushing to see. But when Lizzie comes to Scotland and meets the dangerous and engimatic Brochan, can he combat the darkness within him in order to come into the light with Lizzie?

Gah I loved this story. It had a Beauty and the Beast feel which is my favorite fairytale EVER! Furthermore, their chemistry and attraction was palpable and exciting to read. All in this was a fantastic book and I can't wait for more from this author in the future! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

Two damaged people brought together by fate. Brochan lives in a huge castle has no emotions and basically has a so called secret life but everyone in town knows what he does they just don’t say it out loud. Lizzie is a artist with a horrible past herself but is there visiting to know about her family. When they meet everything starts to change. Can Brochan trust Lizzie? Will Lizzie finally find her happiness? Drama and intense dark moments in this book keep you on the edge wanting more! Very unique story that I didn’t want to end. 5/5 stars *** I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book ***

I really, really enjoyed this book. It had so many great elements that make it just perfect. There is of course love, mystery, action, angst and well a bit of everything really. I definitely recommend this book and this author.

Holy crap. This is such a heartbreaking story of loss, neglect, tragedy, hope, friendship, and finally, love and total acceptance.

Brochan was raised as no child should be raised. And although he had a couple of protectors they only had so much they could do. Brochan becomes a man that rights wrongs the only way he knows how but in the process doesn't let anyone come close to him other than the ones he already had since childhood.

Lizzie had the opposite of a childhood. Total neglect of both parents and bullying of other children from boarding school has made her a loner and strong. So when an opportunity comes to her to go to Scottland and learn of a family she had no idea she had. While she is there she meets Brochan.

This is a beautifully written book that I could not put down. I loved it. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review. Saying that read this book! #MustRead #OneClick

I am sure I will be in the minority with Savage because while I enjoyed it I didn’t love it. Let me be clear dark romances are some of my favorite to read, the darker the better but I have to be sucked in fairly quickly for me to love them and I wasn’t with Savage. It took me a while to convince myself to continue reading because it dragged on at times. I know we needed Lizzie and Brochan’s past to understand why they are the way they are now but for me the dialog at times just dragged on and didn’t flow.

Both Lizzie and Brochan suffered abuse as children, and unfortunately for Lizzie her mother is hated in the town and they all are judging her because of her mom. After a while though that got old to read about. Lizzie needed to be stronger than she was. I think I had more of a connection to Brochan throughout the story than Lizzie. There were some times of hot scenes but sadly for me it wasn’t enough to keep me invested in the story, and I wanted to be I so wanted to be because it had the elements that I normally love but for me, the execution didn’t work like I had hoped.

SAVAGE by L. A. Fiore is an emotional, intense, dark and at times angsty book. The main characters-- Lizzie Danton & Brochan McIntyre were simply one of the best couple I have ever read about. Their stories were one of the best. Both of them suffered from horrible, traumatic childhoods that shaped them into who they are today. They aren’t perfect but they are perfect in their imperfections and just right for each other.
Lizzie was an artist, a painter. Brochan was an artist as well, in a way. His way is assassin and there is an art to how he kills. Brochan is broken yet he is strong and very intense and so very alpha. I can tell you what is broken inside him, he doesn’t let that bring him down, he does his best to overcome. Lizzie is this beautiful, broken soul and she is so kind and sassy. She and Brochan sizzle together. There is this push/pull factor and it about drove me nuts, in the very best way. Brochan is not someone who sees the glass half full, while Lizzie is. Their story is beautiful with a paranormal angle to it. Lizzie is for change while Brochan is so not at all for that….there are things that happen in this story that I DIDN’T see coming . LA paints a beautiful background of many places in this story, one of them is Scotland. Oh I literally saw myself there, and I loved the secondary cast of characters she introduced. I also enjoyed Lizzie’s BFF. She was amazing. Lizzie and her life really spoke to me. Its like this twist on a modern fairy tale with a paranormal angle with suspense twist as well. There is so much going on but it’s a good kind of going on. I want to tell you all my feelings about this book but I am afraid of giving away spoilers…what I can say is : Passion, Anger, Murder, Betrayal, Mystical, Dreamy, Hopes, and Love, deep Love. You cant go wrong with SAVAGE, it is that good and it will stay with you long after you read it!! LA has done it again!!

My Rating: 5.0 stars *****

Savage by L.A Fiore is a well written, character driven story. It kept me interested right to the end and is well worth the five stars.

Both Brochan and Lizzie were exposed to the dark side of humanity at an early age, but their response, to their childhood were very different. Lizzie is an artist, glass half full and always finding the beauty where often others see only ugly. Brochan is a laird of a breath taking Scottish castle. The small town he lives in rumours his occupation is werewolf or hitman as his dark, aggressive and reclusive nature leads to such conclusions.

I loved how the relationship between these two develops. Lizzie sees the damage in Brochan as similar to her own and understands that pulling him from the dark is impossible. She endeavours to be a voice to keep him company so he is no longer alone. She faces a number of challenges, including Brochan himself.

There are some quite brutal moments in Savage, however the author seems to be able to add humour around it, softening the blow of necessary scenes.

Another highlight for me was the vivid description of the "wild and untamed beauty" of the Scottish landscape, where much of the story is set. I felt as though the imagery created added a wonderful depth to the novel.

This was my first book by L.A Fiore but it will not be my last.

I love this author and the way they write. This book is different from the other book they have written. This book is dark but also has a magical feel to it. I just couldn't put this book down till I'd finished it. This book has lots of twists and turns throughout. The characters were amazing and really well written. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Brochan, Brochan, Brochan how I loved you and all your darkness!
This is only my second book to have read by LA Fiore and i'm now a firm fan of her writing. She has a magical way of enchanting you with her characters and her attention to detail when setting a scene such as the descriptions of Scotland in this book are spellbinding.
This is a dark and tragic tale of greed obsession and lies. It broke my heart for both Brochan and Lizzie for the way they were both treated by their families for nothing other than being born. The darkness that they have both lived in was extreme and I really did sympathise with them both and could easily condone the actions they took to move on with their lives.
I totally loved Brochan's character, his personality was so dark and brooding and so very misunderstood by all but Lizzie and his small group of family. I loved seeing how his character grew and changed as people began to realise that he wasn't just the monster that everyone always thought him to be. The same goes for Lizzie how she showed that she wouldn't go down without a fight after being hurt and bullied all her life. After all that they go through in this book it's a wonder that they held onto their own sanity.
I can't tell you enough how much I loved this book, it's got so much drama and angst running through it that it had me biting my nails down to the quick! This was a devilishly good read and I would totally recommend it to anyone that like dark and gritty stories.
5 brilliant Stars!

Savage (The Awakening of Lizzie Denton) by L. A. Fiore This is a story of two abused people. Each has had to endure thier own personal hell. Can they heal each other while finding love. Brochan has had a hard life. His mother died giving birth to him and his father never got over her death. His father was emotionally, mentally and physically abusive to him, blaming him for his mother's death. If it wasn't for certain people in his life he would be dead. Lizzie had to endure a mother who only had her to trap her rich husband. When he left her mother took her anger out on her. At 10 Lizzie was dropped of at boarding school where she was terrorized by not only the staff but by her fellow students while her mother moved crossed country never to be seen again. Somehow these two people's path crossed when Lizzie end up going to Scotland due to an inheritance. This story had me hooked from the beginning to the end. Brochan was a tough, rough, dark, brooding and sexy as sin. Even though he has turned into a monster, Lizzie seems to bring light into his dark. This was my first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. A dark and twisted love story with a taste of deceit and deception. And I loved it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I give it 5 stars
