One of the first romance authors whose backlist I glommed is Lori Foster. I read one book and was hooked. So writes great male friendships and strong heroines who are more than a match for their heroes. I liked reading about Sahara Silver, the super confident and smart boss of the MIA fighters turned Bodyguards agency. She knows what she wants and goes after it. And even though he hero Brand is resisting we all know that Sahara will get her man in the end. This last book was a fun romantic suspense with an over the top alpha hero and a sassy heroine who is more than his match. A good ending to a fast-paced, sexy series. And the books have great covers!

Fast Burn is part of the Body Armor series, and I really don't think they stand alone, or should be read out of order. The full character set is intertwined throughout the books, and some scenes might be spoiled. Fast Burn is a little uneven and the ending seemed rushed to me. As always, Lori Foster's dialogue is superb, and the balance between action, passion and story is excellent. The character portraits are strong, and the story is entertaining, The rushed ending made me rank it a as the lowest in the series thus far, but I'm still a fan, and looking forward to the next book.

The series goes out on a high note. Fast Burn is the 4th and final book in the Body Armor series. As usual, Lori Foster hits it out of the park with her storytelling. Brand Berry has been courted over and over by Sahara Silver to join her elite Body Armor bodyguard agency. He isn’t sure he wants to give up his MMA career to join her agency, but he is even more confident he doesn’t want to carry on an affair with his boss, which is where he thinks this relationship is headed. She drives him wild, she drives him crazy, she just drives him.

Brand hasn’t had the easiest life, his family is unconventional but loving and he likes being part of the SBC. He has made great friends, had a ton of new opportunities and feels like he is wanted somewhere finally.

Sahara Silver inherited the Body Armor agency from her deceased brother. Not that she believes he is dead, no way in hell. She has made it her mission lately to find out where her brother is and what exactly happened to him. She won’t accept his death short of a body showing up on her doorstep.

Brand has denied his attraction to Sahara for a while, as hard as that is some days, until she becomes dragged in as part of her brother’s mysterious disappearance. When she is kidnapped he jumps into action to make his claim to be by her side known to any and all that dared threaten it. He will protect her at all costs.

Sahara knows Brand will do anything to “save” her and she hates being vulnerable. She has always had to prove she is as capable as any man in her employ. She hates the double standard that women have to endure and sets out to prove not all women are fragile little creatures.

Can Brand and Sahara figure out her brother’s mysterious circumstances before its too late? Can they fight their attraction to one another to focus or will it make them stronger to be full out partners in more ways than one?

Good secondary interactions from all the familiars, Rowdy’s Place, SBC, and of course Leese, Justice and Miles (along with the women that love them). Plus fun new characters like Brand’s Dad who basically has every gun known to man in his basement.

Another strong story from Lori Foster with good twists and turns. It will keep you guessing for the majority of the book (unless you are a good figure outer like me J) but if you are a quick study it still doesn’t disappoint with suspense, excitement and action. I am so bummed this series has ended with this novel but knowing there are more Lori Foster books on the horizon carries me through (just barely haha).

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, good or bad but always honest. My ebook had some missing words and sentences which I have no way of knowing if it was technology error or something that will carry through to the paperback et al versions. Overall this is definitely a book for the forever shelf to re-read over and over again, as I do with most Lori Foster novels. Until we meet again Body Armor!!

Holy Smokes! I think this is one of Lori Foster's steamiest books yet!
Brand is young, cocky and at the top of his game. MMA is what he does and he loves the fight. But there's something holding him back.
When a man isn't sure what his next move should be, he gets a little ouchy. And Brand doesn't like being off his game. Especially when one of the reasons is a sexy woman who knows what she wants and goes after it. She's strong and has a backbone of steel.
I love a strong heroine, but Sahara takes it to a whole other level. Still, she's sweet and kind and loveable.
Sahara knows Brand would be an amazing addition to her "stable" of sexy bodyguards. She also knows she's feeling more than bossly toward the sexy man.
This book kept me turning pages way past my bed time.
Fast Burn is sexy, steamy and full of fast paced action.
Sahara and Brand discover that being different can be a good thing. And the way he makes her let go of the reins, shew, don't burn your fingers as you hold on to your book.
Something I really liked was that Lori brought all the characters from this series together in this book. So nice to catch up with each one.
Don't miss this book. Run with Brand and Sahara as they try to out pace the danger that seems determined to catch her.
I'm curious to see if we may hear more from a bad guy that maybe wasn't so bad in the future.

5 Stars!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, kidnapping, steam, and heartbreak.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading them first:
Under Pressure (Body Armor, #1)
Hard Justice (Body Armor #2)
Close Contact (Body Armor #3)

This is Sahara and Brand's story. The chemistry between Brand and Sahara is explosive but Brand is fighting it with everything he has. He knows she wants him, but she also wants him to work for her. She has put the business first no matter what. She lost her brother and it is really all she has now. He is not a man that will be put second. She spends her time running the business and searching for clues to what exactly happened to her brother. When she is kidnapped for her efforts she knows she is in trouble. Brand is furious when she is kidnapped and steps up right away to help find her and bring her back. She needs him, and he will do anything to get her back. This is not the time to be getting personal, but can they fight against it? The danger that surrounds them does not want to let them go. Can he protect and get her out or are they about to both be lost?

This story also pulled in some of the men from the Ultimate Series. Always nice to get a few updates on some characters we love and miss. I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

My Review: Yay, we finally get Sahara's story!! She's a take-charge, take-no-prisoners sort of woman, and it shows. She's been my favorite secondary character throughout the whole series, and I fell in love with her even more during her own story. And considering how strong of a personality she has, I knew she'd need an equally strong man to match her.. and Brand is so very much that man. I can't believe this is the final book in the Body Armor series, but way to end things with a bang!

I think this might be my favorite of the series, but.. I still love, love, love Justice. So maybe this is a very close second. This story is so dynamic - plenty of suspense, plenty of hot scenes, and it's a roller coaster of a read. I can't recommend Fast Burn highly enough, or this author highly enough! Lori Foster is the queen of contemporary romance, and she needs to be on your to-read list.. And Fast Burn should move right to the top!

Cover Lovin': Two thumbs up!

Recommendation: I suggest checking out the previous books in the series, but this can work on its own.

Final Rating: FIVE out of FIVE stars (5/5)!! I love Lori Foster - and this is her at her best! Totally worth the read!

Fast Burn is the fourth and final book in Lori Foster's Body Armor series, and it's a series I've been following from the beginning. I was really looking forward to Sahara Silver's story. As the head of the the Body Armor agency ever since her brother, Scott, went missing, she's appeared in all the previous novels as the smart, savvy, strong, sensible and stalwart leader of the former MMA hunks whom she's hired and trained as sexy bodyguards for high-profile clients. Unfortunately, most of what I've admired so much about her character in the past three novels is gone in this one, and for that reason, I can only give Fast Burn a 3-star rating.

The first three books in this series are all about the bodyguards and their female clients. What usually starts out as just a job ends with the bodyguard and his client facing danger and falling in love, which is certainly not unusual in a romantic suspense novel. However, in this novel, it's Sahara Silver whose body needs guarding, yet she resists it at every turn. As the novel opens, she's trying to get successful MMA fighter, Brand Berry, to join Body Armor, not only because he'd be a good fit for the agency, but because she's had the hots for him for some time. But Brand is no pushover and makes it clear that he doesn't want her as his boss. He's attracted to her, and because of that, if he was her employee and pursued a relationship with her it would open a hole can of worms, and besides, he likes being the dominant figure in a relationship, and so he resists any overture she makes--for a while. But Sahara doesn't give up easily on this relationship, nor has she given up on the search for her missing brother, Scott, someone Brand believes is dead, a belief he never verbalizes to Sahara.

When Sahara is kidnapped by a group of masked men who demand that she pay them the money Scott owes them, she has no idea who they are or why Scott owes them anything. As the founder of Body Armor, Scott obviously made a deal with these thugs and ticked them off. Since he's missing and presumed dead, they go after Sahara instead, believing she knows his whereabouts, and while she's quite resourceful at trying to escape from captivity, in the end, it's Brand and her other bodyguards who rescue her. A second attempt to capture her soon follows and Brand steps up as her protector, but still refuses to become her employee.

While I liked Brand as a strong, protective, alpha male with a definite dominant streak, I found Sahara to be rather annoying. While she's physically brave and resourceful, and sexually more than forward with Brand, she spends a large portion of her time trying to come to terms with her feelings about Brand, and rather than being up-front with him, she vascillates between her sexual attraction to him, her controlling nature, her jealousy when she sees him with another woman at a party, her need to dominate him, and her own self-doubts. Brand, on the other hand, makes his intentions clear all along, and I found myself liking him far more than I liked Sahara, who seemed mature and grounded in the previous novels, but emotionally immature in this one.

Another issue I had with this novel was the other bodyguards--none of them seemed to have any other assignments. Since Body Armor is touted as one of the most successful agencies of its kind, why weren't her other bodyguard employees busy guarding anyone? It seemed they were always available to come to her rescue, which made little sense to this reader. Also, Sahara, who should know better, doesn't do much to stand up for herself, instead, she comes off as rather flighty, ready to head off and meet danger alone without bothering to inform her men about her plans, while they, in equal measure, seem to ignore her orders and directives, and this is especially true of Brand, who, because he's still not her employee, has no problem simply ignoring her orders. Being as well trained as her employees, in her single-minded search for her brother, Sahara seems to throw all caution aside and steps into danger alone. It felt completely out of character for the Sahara we've come to know in previous novels.

Then there are the kidnappers. The chief perpetrator among them wants the money he's owed, but he also wants Sahara, and he's really not all that villainous. His cohorts can only be described as brainless, idiotic thugs, who, although they've been warned that Sahara isn't to be harmed, can't seem to wait to tie her up, tie her down and rape her. I'm not sure where the villain found them, but they aren't very good at their jobs or at obeying his orders, just as Sahara's men aren't very good at obeying hers in this novel.

Finally, there's the denouement, which made little sense to and irritated the heck out of this reader. Having a character so minor and so ill-defined as to practically escape notice entirely in this novel as being behind the multi-layered plot against Scott and Sahara felt a like a major let-down, and, as a reader, I felt cheated out of a fair chance to solve the whodunit part of this romantic suspense novel for myself. Yes, there's an HEA ending of sorts, but seeing Sahara, who's been a strong and controlling character throughout this series become willingly subordinate to someone as dominating as Brand, left me wondering about the future of any relationship these two characters might have.

While Lori Foster is an excellent and highly skilled writer, this novel seemed to be a letdown of a series finale, and I also missed Ms. Foster's signature sense of humor, which was nowhere to be found in this novel. I had high hopes for this novel, but I'm sad to say that it was just an okay read for me.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

Fast Burn was another great addition to the Body Armor series. The story is captivating from beginning to end , Lori Foster has the ability to write books that are among the best out there. Sierra is relentless in her pursuit to get Brand to sign up with the Body Armor agency but he has other ideas in mind. He wants her body and soul and doesn't want to be her employee. When Sierra's life is put in danger by being kidnapped, Brand stops at nothing to rescue her. Will Brand finally give in and join the Body Armor agency, I guess you will have to read it to find out. It’s been entirely too long since I read a Lori Foster book. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t even bother to read the blurb before adding this book. When I’m in the mood for a steamy contemporary romance with a dash of suspense, Foster always hits the spot. Now here’s my confession…
And I’ll warn the reading order OCD squad to look away right now for fear of your head exploding…
Because this was the first book I read in this series.
*pause for dramatic effect*
What can I say? I love to live dangerously.
But you know what? I had absolutely no trouble getting right into the thick of it and fully invested in the Body Armor series.
If you know me at all, then you already know that I love me a strong and kick-*ass heroine. And Sahara Silver was the epitome of it! Running an elite bodyguard agency, Sahara is no slouch herself. She’s sassy, determined, a wiz with a firearm, and tenacious when it comes to what she wants. And what she wants is the sinfully sexy MMA fighter, Brand, to join her agency. But Brand isn’t one to mix business with pleasure, and he knows that the fiery chemistry between Sahara and him will prevent any business relationship she hopes to have. He won’t sign with her agency, but he will give into her other advances.
I loved the way Sahara is a boss lady at work, but she lets Brand take the control in the bedroom without losing any of her spark. I loved Brand’s sweet, protective, and deliciously sexy nature. And I absolutely loved the two of them together.
The romance takes place in the middle of the mystery of Sahara’s missing brother finally coming to a head. Everyone believes the man dead, but Sahara knows it can’t be true. With plenty of baddies jumping out of the shadows, Brand and Sahara never see a dull moment. And with a sizzling romance tying it all together, Fast Burn was certainly one delicious burn. It was well paced, with great characters, and plenty of steam. It hit the spot just right for me and satisfied my Lori Foster craving.

I have been waiting for Sahara’s story. It was more wonderful than I expected!

Sahara Silver is the new owner of the Body Armor Security firm that once belonged to her brother who is now believed dead. If that wasn’t enough Sahara the kick butt heroine in this story, has her hands full with trying to stay alive as well as keeping her hands to herself. With Brand around this just might prove to be the hardest job she ever did.

Brand Berry is a MMA fighter. A sexy temptation Sahara wanted for her business, but Brand wanted her for far more. Their sexy little play by play has amped up his feelings for Sahara now all he had to do is keep her alive so he can figure out what to do with his new-found feelings.

Sahara and Brand are not short on sparks, from the beginning they have wanted each other. Sahara wanted Brand for far more then personal reason, good god the woman as tenacious as a Pitbull when it was something or in this case someone she wanted. Brand had other plans, the biggest is keeping said lady alive.

Supporting characters are mostly from the first three books in the Body Armor Series. They helped give Sahara and Brand a strong base. Miles, Leese and Justice have always had Sahara’s back and all work for Body Armor Security. Scott (Sahara’s brother) I have issues with, but that is all I can say without spoilers.

The Plot is so intense in and out of the bedroom. Strong character presence, powerful bad guys with a few shockers that made Fast Burn a non-stop read for me. I shouldn’t be shock though, because anything Lori Foster writes is on my auto read list.

While this wasn't my favorite in the Body Armor series, I loved Brand and Sahara. I thought the action kept the story moving and loved that Sahara finally seemed to let herself relax and just be herself with Brand. They really made quite the match. I love that he wasn't willing to compromise and work for her, but the minute anything happens to her he's ready to be part of the team!

What a fast-paced, sexy thriller of a read by Ms Foster. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Looking forward to more of her books.

I have looked forward to Sahara and Brand story after seeing them interact some in the previous. I liked that she is a strong heroine but is ok with letting Brand take charge too. They finally find a great balance that works for them.

An explosive series finale…
Brand and Sahara have been circling each other throughout the series and I was happy to dive into their story – finally! Fast burn, slow burn - it was finally their time and it was as explosive as I’d hoped…
“You’ve got more mixed signals than a virgin on prom night.”
Body Armor had no shortage of alpha males. Beautiful, rugged, and deadly capable, they were exactly the talented bodyguards – and eye candy - Sahara had needed to rebrand her brother’s security firm. Her brother was dead, a truth she refused to believe. She and her new crew were going to find out the truth, one way or another, and the time was now… Brand was a fighter and not interested in Sahara’s offer of employment. Now if she had a different offer, which included her, that would be different…
“Even superheroes need rest every now and then.”
Sahara was an integral part of the series but this story saw her take center stage. Her personality shined and glowed as she took charge in every situation while never losing her empathy and warmth. She defined the word kick-butt as she held her own in even the direst of situations, using her intelligence to keep her cool, never losing her sense of humour. I loved her character and how Brand recognized how special she was…
“Yes, and if you’re wondering what the lure is for me, it’s your attitude, your brass, your brains, your sexy body, your beautiful face, your confidence, your--…”
Together with the characters I knew and loved already, this was a perfect sign off to a great series!

Brand and Sahara!!!!! What a story!!!! The previous stories has been leading up to them and this book doesn’t disappoint. It takes off right from the start with Sahara getting kidnapped. It only gets more interesting and chaotic as it goes along. You have a story that has been on going and an alpha male/female bantering back and forth together with chemistry that is off the charts. I couldn’t put this book down and I was/am sad when it ended because it’s the last of a long intertwining series I loved for years. I can’t wait to see whT she has for us next. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Fast Burn is book 4 in the Body Armor series and in it we get big boss Sahara's story. While you could probably read this book without having read the others and understand it okay, I believe it would be best read after the others and being introduce to the Body Armor crew. I've been looking forward to Sahara's story since book one, super curious to get to know her more and to watch her find her match - and find her match she does - in Brand.

Fast Burn was full of angst, action, and drama, each notion keeping me hooked on the page and anxious to read on. The chemistry and powerful connection between Sahara and Brand builds as the story continues and further drew me in. It was undeniable - even as they attempted to fight it at times. Their interactions were full of feeling, keeping me connected to the characters and understanding more about them.

The story was full of unexpected things and minor twists for me, which is always a good thing when you add that touch of suspense, I don't want to figure it all out half way into the book. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll leave it at we get some answers to the question of Sahara's brother - is he dead or is he alive? And in getting those answers, we are taken on quite a ride.

Fast Burn was a winning combination and gave me the best story for Sahara - one of my favorite characters in the books. I loved how Lori Foster brought this one together and can't wait to see what she delivers next.

I have been waiting for what feels like forever to get Sahara Silver’s story. A significant figure in the Body Armor series, Sahara’s intelligent, beautiful and spunky presence was integral to this series. As the owner of Body Armor, she is always on the lookout for a very specific type of man who she could add to her agency. It’s no secret that Sahara’s brand of bodyguard is usually handsome and strong with excellent skills and she’s been finding just these types of men in the form of ex-MMA fighters. But there is one such man that she can’t seem to woo into joining her, but it’s not for the reasons she thinks.

Brand Berry met Sahara through his friends who chose to join her bodyguard firm when they retired from MMA fighting. His attraction to her is immediate and he’s pretty sure that it’s mutual, but Sahara hides behind the fact that she wants Brand to join her firm. He knows he meets every single one of her criteria for a personal bodyguard, but Brand sees more in Sahara and doesn’t really want to be just one of her bodyguards. He wants more. But Brand has family issues that are clouding his judgement and he’s torn between fighting one more time or leaving the MMA altogether. One thing is for sure, he wants Sahara.

When Sahara is taken by a group of men who thinks she knows more than she does about her missing brother, Brand’s protective instincts come through full force. He may not be one of her elite bodyguards, but that doesn’t stop him from jumping into the fray to lead the force and be the one to find her and keep her safe.

The Body Armor series extends Foster’s previous Love Undercover and Ultimate series’, by bringing us more of the MMA characters we’ve met. Sahara Silver has taken over her brother’s company in the wake of his disappearance. Sahara is convinced that he is still alive and will not even entertain the thought that he died in the boating accident that was reported. Try as she might, she is unable to find even the smallest clue to confirm her suspicions. So, she continues doing what she needs to do so that when her brother returns he can regain his position in the company which is even more successful than when he left it.

I was thrilled to finally have Sahara’s story. Her missing brother has been an ongoing element throughout the series but until this book we did not have much information other than the fact that he was missing. Sahara was steadfast in her belief that he was alive and would return to her when he could. In the meantime, she kept the agency running by putting her special spin on the bodyguard offerings.

When Sahara meets Brand through the other ex-MMA fighters she employs, her immediate thought is that she wants him to join her firm. She makes no attempt to hide that or the fact that she finds him attractive. There is a lot of flirting and innuendo, but Brand makes it clear that he’s not interested in becoming a bodyguard and he does his best to show Sahara that his interest is in her, not a new job.

Sahara has been one of my favorite female characters throughout this series. She is smart, beautiful and she knows what she wants and doesn’t take no for an answer. But in her quiet moments, she’s also vulnerable and she misses her brother and is worried about him. She has exhausted all her efforts in trying to figure out what he might have been working on or involved in prior to his disappearance; but she’s sure he’s alive, hiding out until the time he can come forward and explain himself.

Sahara pretty much grew up within the walls of the company her brother built and under his tutelage she learned everything from the ground up. So when he disappears, she steps into his shoes and puts her own stamp on the company and makes it hugely successful. All the while working behind the scenes to find something, anything about her brother. She is unsuccessful until the day she is kidnapped on her way home from work. She’s sure that her being taken has something to do with her brother and she’s determined to find out everything she can.

We see a different side of Sahara after her kidnapping. Always strong and tough, she slowly lets her guard down around Brand when he pretty much moves in and takes it upon himself to be her personal guard. This softer side of Sahara was so nice to see as she also allows herself to be ‘just a girl who likes a boy’ and explore the possibility of a relationship with Brand. With everything going on, she too imposes herself into his life and attempts to help him with his family issues and the decisions he needs to make. Their romance is expected since it’s been simmering for a bit, though they continue to fight it until they find themselves unable to deny it.

Foster drives Sahara’s brother Scott’s mysterious disappearance throughout the course of this series and keeps us interested and invested until this book where she finally reveals the details behind it. Sahara’s kidnapping opens the door to some of these long kept details when she confronts her kidnappers and you begin to realize that she was right and there was definitely foul play. What she learns is only a small part of the very large cover up that travels up the chain to some very powerful people. As the facts are revealed, Sahara remains sure that her brother was a pawn in everything.

Foster ends this series on a high note and all is revealed satisfactorily. Sahara and Brand survive their unique courtship and we also see just a teeny part of theirs and the previous couples futures in the final chapter. I love Foster’s ability to tie in her series from one to the other as she introduces characters who appear on the periphery then become stars of their own stories in separate, new series.

I've never read a Lori Foster book I haven't loved and the Body Armor series fits that bill! I love the strong, dominant but sweet MMA and ex-MMA fighters she creates! Every series featuring the SBC men is just perfect!

I've always wondered about Sahara since reading the first book in this series. I knew she was a strong, independent, take no nonsense woman but I was happy to finally read her story. Yes, she's a female in a typically male-dominated field but she doesn't let that stop her. She is a strong woman and doesn't care who she has to prove it to in order to get the point across. And Brand is her perfect match.

I can't decide if I hope there's more to come from this series or if she will start a new one with glimpses of these characters from the Body Armor agency.

Fast burn is the last book in the Body Armor series. I didn't feel as if this is the last book though. I wanted some sort of epilogue to tie the four books. Most of the readers will have no problem with the ending, but I am always looking forward to an ending chapter that brings all or most of the couples together. We did get to see them during the events of the story, so I guess I should be happy. One other thing that stood out for me was the heroines name. I kept reading it as Sara and not Sahara and I think the reason I did that is because every time I was reading her name I was thinking about the desert and not her. I know it's silly and that didn't affect my view of the book. The story was good and I was a fan of the suspence. The romance was also good, but I was more into finding the bad guys and finding out the truth. I liked the book. The pace was good and steady and the story was written well. I would recommend the book and it can be read as a stand-alone novel, so if you haven't read the previous books, you won't have to before you begin this one.
