Honor-Bound Lawman was okay. I wish I would have enjoyed it more, but I got tired of the repetitiveness in the story. I also didn't like the heroine or her actions at times.

The romance was fine and I liked the danger in the book. My favorite character was probably Owen, but I also really liked his daughters.

All in all, this was okay. I liked the book, but there were several things that kept me from loving it.

*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

Honor-Bound Lawman is a story of love, faith and dedication. Owen Hamilton is a rancher and family man now since he turned in his badge but can’t stop being drawn back into cases. He protected Laura Booth when she was testifying against her husband and now she needs his help again. Her ex-husband has escaped and he wants her dead. Owen vowed to always protect her and so he feels honor bound to do it again. Can he protect her and his family, along with his heart? He’s been in this predicament before and he’s afraid that being hero is not an easy job.

This was my first story by Danica Favorite and it won’t be the last. I very much liked her writing style and how she created such flawed and complicated character. Then slowly they are developed over the course of the book and you see how both Owen and Laura are conflicted. She sprinkles in inspirational moments to get these characters to drawn on their beliefs and finally let them take that final leap of trusting in another with their heart. I also loved the secondary characters of Owen’s 6-year-old twins, Anna and Emma, and his sister Lena, and helped the story progress forward. Honor-Bound Lawman is an enjoyable read, with heartwarming moments, a slice of danger, and true love for two deserving individuals.

Owen Hamilton can't refuse help to a friend, especially when he made a promise. Even though he isn't a lawman any more he promise Laura Booth to protect her, in exchange for her testimony against her then-husband, James, and Laura kept her end of the bargain. But now James has escaped from prison, and has revenge on his mind.

Laura has moved on with her life since her ex-husband's criminal activity, and she now runs a boarding house for formerly abused women. She has learned a lot about being independent, and running a business. Laura ia surprised when Owen shows up on her doorstep, telling her that James has escaped.

They haven't spoken since the last time James was loose, Laura thought that they had become friends during that time, but they haven't spoken since even though they live a few hundred feet away. Will Owen be able to protect Laura a second time, and will they dare to be more to each than a promise in the past?

Owen is widowed and takes Laura to his ranch, where he lives with his daughters and his sister, Lena. His daughters are a big reason that he chose to settle down, he is a good father, he is firm, yet encourages them to grow to be more independent.

Owen's daughters Emma and Anna are adorable, they have big hearts and are very clever, adopting a rooster, naming him Henry, to save him from the stew pot. And the many adventures they have in The Taming of Henry, add lots of humor to the book.

Lena and Owen are close, and back each other up, Lena sees that Laura might be just what Owen needs, and she encourages it.

Laura is strong and independent, she has overcome a lot in the past few years, and it gives her the confidence to dream of a brighter future. There is great dialog in this book, and I like how this gives Owen and Laura a second chance to know each other again, seeing a different side of each other. Fun and enjoyable read, I loved the characters, and there was plenty of suspense and action along the way!

Honor-Bound Lawman is quite excellent and entertaining regarding romance in the face of danger. Laura has a dangerous past. One she got free from danger or so she thought. There is 2 things keeping her from danger and those are Lawman Owen Hamilton and her FATHER GOD. Does Owen do a good job or is Laura and Owen just too distracted with their feelings to see it coming? If you like lady's in distress and a good man saving her with the help of GOD then this is it.

This was a good story about trust. Owen is a former lawman that has come out of retirement to protest Laura from her ex-husband. They knew each other previously when he protected her while her ex was on trail. He just wants to be a rancher and raise his twin daughters.

Laura had moved on with her life and opened a boardinghouse for women escaping bad situations. She has gained strength and the ability to take care of herself. She doesn’t want to be protected.

They meet together like oil and water. They both have trust issues due to bad situations in their lives. They have to learn to trust in the Lord and allow him to guide them.

This book has both laugh out loud moments and dramatic moments. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

I received a copy from Netgalley to review.

I hope this is a series, I would love to learn more from Lena, just saying.

Owen Hamilton is a handsome daddy of two precious twin girls. When his friend and lawman asks him to help he feels bound to do so, no matter what he truly would like to do. When he must protect the beautiful Laura Booth he is not sure he is really up to this.

Laura Booth has been in the protective custody of Owen before, yet she feels she does not really know him. Will she be able to abide by his wishes again and keep her heart safe?

Owen and Laura both must learn to let go of the past and trust in the future if there is ever to be a future for them. I love the chemistry in this novel, it is full of action, some suspense and romance.

Honor-Bound Lawman (Love Inspired Historical)
by Danica Favorite

An amazing gift for writing! This authors way of setting up and carrying her plot and characters were wonderful. I truly enjoyed a heart warming , touching, love and relationship pathos read. Through out this wonderful warm tale, it has elements of adventure, lasting love, burdens and faith that feels like you can reach out and touch. An amazing reality read in some ways, even if fiction! Thank you for the opportunity of reading a unique and wonderfully written love story with an engaging plot. I was given this book via NetGalley in return for an honest review. My opinion is my own and given voluntarily. Regards, Anna Swedenmom

I have heard from others that I need to read some of Danica Favorite's books. She is also a member of the  10 Minute Novelists group that I belong to. I love supporting other members of my writing group so I picked up a copy of Honor-Bound Lawman. I am sooooo glad I did.

I loved the book, I will check out her other eight books as soon as I get through the books I've committed to reviewing.

Owen and Laura's romance is an evolving relationship. They start off in a victim and protector  relationship. Owen protects her while she waits to testify against her husband, James. With her husband safely behind bars Laura determines to create a new life for herself and Owen turns in his badge and leaves town.

Time passes and Owen and Laura's paths cross again when James escapes from prison. Once again Owen is tasked with protecting Laura. He moves her out of town to his ranch where she meets his twin daughters and his sister.

With the two of them living in the same house they discover that they are indeed attracted to each other. What they decide to do about the attraction is the interesting part of their story.

Though I got mad at Laura a few times for doing stupid things, I can totally understand, given her history, why she reacts the way she does to Owen's instructions. I enjoyed being able to see her thought process when she was trying to justify her defiance of Owen's instructions.

I loved the role Henry played in the story! I won't spoil it for you....you'll just have to find out about Henry for  yourself.

I like a story that shows the struggles the couple has to overcome to reach their 'happily ever after'. This one did not disappoint.

Honor-Bound Lawman definitely surpassed my expectations. Though there were moments where the internal dialogue seemed a bit much, Owen, Laura, Lena and the twins ultimately did not disappoint. Laura’s ex-husband was not as much an integral part of the story as I’d imagined he’s be, but did play enough of a role as a catalyst to prove his necessity. I did find both Owen and Laura frustrating at points, particularly in regards to their stubborn notions and refusal to communicate properly. I would have liked to have known more about why Anna doesn’t typically warm up to people, but that detail will have to wait. While it’s not likely a story I will read again and again, I certainly hope I have the opportunity to read more about Lena later.

This book involves characters who seem a little more mature than some in this Harlequin line. They’re not all that old, but they have been through some things in life, have been married etc.
Danica Favorite is a solid, established writer for Love Inspired Historical now, and she is one of those people who manages to write Christian fiction without shoving the religion in your face - always appreciated. It was one of those books where I forgot it was meant to be Christian (this is a good thing).
I did take a little while to warm up to the hero. He thinks a lot of unkind things about the heroine at the beginning, and I’m not sure why. He kept thinking how annoying she was (she wasn’t), and that he wasn’t going to tell her anything because she was annoying (she wasn’t!).
Other than that, this is a decent entry to a Harlequin line you can usually depend on.
