What do you do when you have have four hell hounds after you? You run like crazy and hope they stop. Not headstrong Nikki who stands her ground and tries to fight them off until three Halflings help her.

Halflings are exactly what they sound like, the offspring of fallen angels and human women. Talk about complicated! They're not allowed in heaven nor do they want to spend eternity in hell, so they opt to stay in the midplane.

No other Halflings know this better than Mace, Will and Vine. Three young angels who are assigned to protect Nikki. The reason is unknown and throughout the novel they try to figure out why.

I'm always one to read angel themed novels, and Halflings is no exception. It had a wonderful combination of mystery and romance that I had to know why Nikki is so special. And the little love triangle and unforgivable sin that Halflings must not do keeps the intensity of their love rising.

This is a great quick read but it lacked answering all the questions that I had in the end. Maybe it will be answered in the next book? I look forward to it.

but I can't help but feel that the book was a bit short! It ended too quick for me - it left me hanging and wanting to know more about ALL the characters, which is good! It ends a good spot where you know that the story will pick up where it exactly left off and storm ahead with more action, love... and lots of angel wings!

The premise of this book was intriguing. I enjoyed the plot as well as the characters in this story. I love an angel story! The romance was also fun.

This was a good book, maybe a little bit slow at times. I liked the premise, and at the time that I read it, I was super obsessed with the whole Angels/Demons trope.

Halflings was definitely an interesting read. I love angel-related stories, so I really did want to fall in love with this one, but alas, it just didn't manage to grab me 100%. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but there were just a few things about it that made it (I don't want to say ordinary) but just rather unremarkable.

I love the story concept itself. It was intriguing and interesting. I like the backstory for each of the characters, but I just had a hard time at first getting into the book. Additionally, since characterization is one of my main draws in a book, I think this might be where I was a bit left behind. Although I liked the characters, I almost felt that they were a little bit too cookie cutter for my taste. It's like there were a handful of stereotypical archetypes they each fit into. You've got a "good guy", a "bad boy" and a "cutey." I liked them all, but it just seemed too much like they were selected off an assembly line, if you know what I mean. The heroine didn't stand out to me either.

The pacing was a bit off for me as well, as there were times I had a hard time pushing my way through the story. All in all, the story was good and I did like it, but it wasn't going to make it into my favorites pile. I definitely recommend others give it a try if you like this type of book, but it just wasn't a fave for me.

I remember requesting this ARC years ago, and it expired before I could read it. So I bought the book when it came out; I read halfway through it. It was terrible. Can't give you all the details--it was 5 years ago--but I vividly remember my displeasure and not being able to finish it.
