'Unicorn of Many Hats' by Dana Simpson with the 7th book in the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series.

This time around Phoebe's friend Marigold Heavenly Nostrils gets a chance to babysit her friend. Heavenly also wins Phoebe's dad over with her love of classic video games. Phoebe also attends a dragon halloween party and learns about unicorn voting.

There isn't a lot new here and the jokes feel a bit familiar, but that kind of comfort made for a nice read on my part. I like the additions of glossaries in these and the art and humor are fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this series to a young reader.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

As usual, the adventures of Phoebe and Marigold left me smiling. This book is delightful.

The Unicorn of Many Hats is a funny comic book of a girl and her unicorn friend. Dana Simpson has an entire series that would appeal to most girls because most girls love unicorns. In the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series by Dana Simpson, Phoebe and her unicorn go on many adventures that would appeal to young readers. I think that this book would encourage kids to read because of the comic book format and the illustrations. This is the first book that I've read in the Phoebe and Her Unicorn series by Dana Simpson but I am considering finding the other books for my hesitant reader who loves unicorns. I recommend this book for all kids that love unicorns.

After their first graphic novel adventure, Phoebe and Marigold are back for another collection of comics. In this collection Phoebe and Marigold write fan letters and Marigold babysits Phoebe. We learn that shimmering is better than glimmering. Marigold gets into a grooming competition with the cat and Max outnerds Phoebe.

We visit Marigold’s home for the first time. Phoebe and Marigold attend a dragon Halloween party where I learned I need rainbow-flame jack-o’-lanterns in my life. We meet Ralph, a kid in Phoebe’s class who isn’t Max or Dakota. Dakota is still cool and rubbing Phoebe’s face in it and Marigold took a short break from admiring her own reflection to reflect on her friendship with Phoebe.

After absolutely adoring the graphic novel format, adventure and introduction of a wonderful new character, Voltina the dragon, in ‘The Magic Storm’, this collection of comics felt like a let down. Christmas, Halloween and summer seem to be covered in the majority of the collections I’ve read so far and a lot of the themes and jokes are repetitive. The actual target audience may not have a problem with this but I’m eager for material that feels new.

I was especially disappointed that Voltina didn’t make an appearance in this collection, which meant adorably nerdy Max is essentially alone again. Yes, he sort of has Phoebe sometimes but she’s not a good enough friend to even notice he’s being bullied when it’s happening right in front of her face. He deserves better.

Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to read this collection. I am rounding up from 3.5 stars.

My 7 year old absolutely loves these books. She will read them over and over and own the whole set. This one has already been added to our collection.

Unicorn of Many Hats is the seventh volume of comics featuring Phoebe and her best friend, unicorn Marigold Heavenly Nostrils. The stories are sweet and fun, with a Calvin and Hobbes kind of feel. Marigold Heavenly Nostrils 'helps' (mostly) Phoebe navigate a bunch of issues kids are familiar with - like the end of the summer holidays, tricky social and friendship issues at school, and having embarrassing parents. I loved seeing Phoebe's parents in this volume - I think her dad is really funny. I also really enjoy the way Marigold's questions show how ridiculous our world can be - poking fun in particular at the internet and technology.

For anyone joining in with the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge in 2018, this one ticks off a couple of prompts:
4. A comic written and drawn by the same person
15. A one sitting book
18. A comic that isn’t published by Marvel, DC, or Image

Unicorn of Many Hats is available now. Phoebe and her Unicorn comics are suitable for kids, from middle grade or even earlier, and I think they are a lot of fun for grown-ups too. It is also worth noting that I don't think it really matters whether you have read any of the other volumes of this series - I think you could (and should) just pick up any volume and enjoy it.

I hope that the ebook quality of this review copy was not representative of the actual book quality. the images and text were very pixelated and choppy making it difficult to see details of images.

overall text and story were interesting, but i am not sure i would read the series religiously.

My kids love this series. I don't always appreciate the characters attitudes and how they speak to each other.

This is such a cute series for middle graders. It was a fast read and I've recommended to some kids who are reluctant to read books, but want to read.

I do so love Phoebe and Marigold - such magical adventures throughout the monotony of every day life :-)

Phoebe and Marigold are back in another series! Loved these two as usual :) The friendship between Phoebe and Marigold is endearing and their little adventures are always fun!

This edition was more of smaller storylines rather than one main plot. In comparison, I enjoyed the main plot lines a lot better than the mini-stories so probably why four helms instead of 5.

A great read regardless – kids and adults alike would love it! Can’t wait for more and always secretly hoping I find a magical unicorn somewhere!

*Thank-you Dana Simpson, Netgalley & Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC.

Unicorn of Many Hats is the seventh book in Dana Simpson’s Phoebe and her Unicorn series of comics. I was very excited to read this book and share it with my oldest daughter because she loves this series.

The premise is fairly simple: Phoebe is an elementary school student, and her best friend is a unicorn named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils. Marigold is mostly invisible, but she does have some interactions with the other characters.

Unicorn of Many Hats tends to follow a similar setup to the other books, wherein the good part of a year is covered, without the characters really aging from one book to another. There are story arcs devoted to starting school, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Many of the familiar secondary characters have returned, including frenemy Dakota, Max, Phoebe’s geeky parents, and even the goblins make an appearance.

My oldest daughter is in the fifth grade, and she loves this series just as much as she loves iconic comics like Peanuts and Calvin and Hobbes. The humor tends to veer toward the geeky, with numerous wry asides. My daughter especially enjoyed the Unicorn Christmas songs.

I would absolutely recommend Unicorn of Many Hats to middle grade readers as well as fans of comics. There aren’t really any story arcs that span multiple volumes, so readers can jump right into the series with this book if they would like. We are already looking forward to the next unicorn book because we love Phoebe and Marigold so much!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.

4.5 stars! I think these books are getting better as the series goes along. Fun stories in this volume - not just Phoebe and Marigold, but also stories with Phoebe's family, Dakota and other kids. This is my favorite graphic novel series for kids!

No more book length plot like the last Phoebe and her unicorn book I read :( The two of you who regularly read my reviews know what a sucker I am for plot. Man, I love plot. Cute little few pages story-lines are all right, but plot: plot is like pancakes, I could eat it all day.

So it's cute. Phoebe and Marigold get up to this-and-that. Dakota is snotty as ever. I think there's a Hallowe'en party? See -- without a nice, rigid, plot-scaffolding, I've already forgotten most of what I read. Sigh. But Tesfa still likes these books, so that's all that matters, and the next time Netgalley has one to review, you can bet I'll be hitting that request button straight away.

Sparkle-filled thanks to Andrews McMeel and NetGalley for a digital ARC of my new favorite graphic novel series.

Phoebe and Marigold continue their adventures framed by some noteworthy events like: Marigold getting the opportunity to babysit Phoebe, Phoebe discussing tribbles with her dad, Marigold trying her best to outsparkle the Christmas tree, Phoebe realizing that a friend is being bullied and more events we can all relate to whether young or old. Highly recommended.

My daughter has enjoyed reading the Phoebe novels. This one was no exception. She looks forward to the next one each time a new one comes out.

I had never even heard of this series before requesting this from Netgalley. I almost scrolled right past it, but I'm always looking for cute books for my Allison, and figured why not.

Holy crap, why has no one told me about the adorableness that is Phoebe and Marigold Heavenly Nostrils before?

The comics are hilariously funny, and so sweet. The humor is perfect for younger ages, but adults can enjoy it just as well. Marigold is snotty and superior, but she's a unicorn, would you expect any less? Phoebe is precocious, but not a brat, like a lot of kids in comics are.

I've already requested the rest of the series from my library's app. I must read the entire series. And I must get these books for Allison, and Christopher, too. He's almost 10, but I think he'll still appreciate them.

Editing to Add: I have just been told that this is the creator of Ozy and Millie. I am absolutely furious that I didn't know she'd created another series, considering how much I love O&M. What the heck.

Unicorn of Many Hats is a book that follows a little girl named Phoebe and her unicorn friend around. It is such a fun and cute read. The author have such a cute humor put into the book that I found myself laughing at the most perfect parts of the book. Everything about the book is really adorable and I love it to pieces. :)

This is a fun read with great illustrations and humor. I really enjoyed the references to technology which would be great conversation starters on the topic.
