REVIEW: 4 STARS
"I'm seeing Josie through unfiltered eyes and I like everything that I'm seeing."

I don't pretend to NOT be a Sawyer Bennett fan. I have read all of her books. I have loved them all. She is just that author for me. In general, she is an easy getaway; a guaranteed good read for me each time. You can go into this review with that knowledge, but please understand.....her words are worthy and I am speaking from the heart when I say this was such a good read. I enjoyed this one very much!

For being the tenth book in a series about Hockey Players, you would think this machoism would be boring by now, right? Played out, easily, right?! Well....no. Not this time. For my favorite sports series, Sawyer Bennett has made each book individually captivating, yet perfectly suited for an ongoing series. I love this series. Love it. So it's no secret that this book will leave me smiling in my review. One thing I want to point out is the ease in which she transitions from friends to lovers; it was effortless. I couldn't help but smile the entire time I was reading this story, all while they were letting their guard down and falling for each other. I loved this part of it!

This one was a little sweeter, a little softer hitting than the others, though. But, don't get me wrong. Reed was ALL man and divinely sexy, but I loved that his insecurities were actually recognized and REAL. Was he a manwhore? Well, yes....he's a freaking hockey player that just won his second championship. Did we see these man-whorish ways....again, yes. We have to set up the story, right? But, a rehab’d playboy? Sounds cliché, doesn’t it? Well, leave it it SB to make this story a little more in depth; a little deeper when it comes to the heart! Because she did one helluva job on it too. I loved seeing this change in him; his own realizations that she is worth more than just a one night stand. I cannot tell you how much I loved reading that side to his story.

How do you change your image from playboy to a worthy man in a relationship? How do you convince her she's the one to change you? When it's so cliché, how exactly do you convince her? I realize this trope can be cliché, but the way Sawyer Bennett endears us to her characters, it sure makes it easier. Basically, when she makes her characters so relatable and makes us fall in love with the real man that they are, not just the outward appearances he chooses to share publicly, but the real him, we fall in love harder, faster, and deeper. Pun intended?

Ahem....and the setup for Marek's story was ON POINT!!! Make sure to add this one to your TBR or PREORDER it.

"No particular cadence. no metaphorical rhyme or physical reason why it feels so good. It's just. . . love."

I read and reviewed this book back in December and forgot to post my review here!!

Absolute perfection! This story was so good! Reed has to be the sweetest book boyfriend I've seen in long time. He started out a little rough, with all the Barbies, but, damn, he sure did redeem himself.

I can't wait for the next book!

This series is just so so good!!!
Once again , Sawyer Bennett delivered a story that got me hooked from the start!!
The Hockey season is over and the boys just won THE cup. It’s time to relax and enjoy life! Reed so does that by banging every Barbie he meets!! Things changed when he met his sexy neighbour Josie. The banter and friendship between them made me laugh out loud but more importantly made my heart melt.

”As long as we keep this light and fun with an emphasis on the friendship—well, an emphasis on the benefits—this should work out fine.”

They decide to be friends ... with benefits but for how long before someone gets hurt? Or before someone wants more?

“How in the hell had Reed gone from banging every Barbie doll in the free world to bestowing the ultimate in romantic gestures?”

Reed😍😍 loved it!

If there is one series that I wish could go on forever, this is it. I am absolutely head over heels in love with the Carolina Cold Fury men and their leading ladies. From the start, with Alex, to my all-time favorite Ryker, and now to book #10 with Reed… I can honestly say that I have truly enjoyed every single installment. Now with being said, I know the #10 next a book in a series can seem daunting, however each Carolina Cold Fury can be read as a complete standalone and you will not feel like you missed out. Well, other than the urge to go back and meet the other hottie hockey players that make up the Cold Fury.

Reed is the latest installment and my latest Cold Fury crush. I was hooked from the first few pages… starts off with humor and sets the tone for the rest of the book. Reed and Josie have an unconventional start because a bed is rocking but they aren’t sharing it… LOL! What could have been an awkward first meeting actually turns out to be the start of a great friendship between Reed and Josie. I enjoyed the friends to lovers aspect… seeing their friendship come to life through the words on the pages was sweet and full of funny banter. Then seeing that friendship develop into one HOT, and I mean HOT, friends with benefits, to even more….I loved it. These two couldn’t be more perfect for each other, despite their very different careers.

Reed is high on the sweet, swoony, and oh so sexy moments and low on the unnecessary drama. A fantastic read from start to finish. Sawyer Bennett continues to give us fresh stories that capture our heart. She also manages to make the reader already anticipate the next installment… Marek, I need you in my life!

Synopsis:
Hockey season may be over, but in New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett’s new novel, a Carolina Cold Fury heartbreaker is heating things up off the ice and eager to score with the girl next door.

No one skates like Reed Olson. In the off-season, no one plays like him either. After back-to-back championships, Reed craves a different kind of action. Good thing there’s no shortage of women ready for a summer fling with a sports star. Reed has a specific type—blond, busty, not too bright—and a little black book full of options. But when his bed starts rocking, it’s his unexpectedly sexy neighbor who comes knocking. And the brainy beauty is impossible to ignore.

Josie Ives desperately needs something her celebrity neighbor obviously doesn’t: sleep. His headboard banging against the wall is keeping her up at night—not to mention inspiring some very naughty dreams. Reed is everything she imagined: a little too good-looking, with a body that puts Greek gods to shame. But he’s also funny and charming—a tempting combination. Josie’s the opposite of his type, yet the chemistry between them is undeniable. Their friendship certainly has its benefits, and it’s heating up to be so much more.

My Thoughts:
What can I say about a hot hockey player and ER Doc finding love in this friends to lovers’ sports romance? I will tell you that it is a mighty fine read! There isn’t any hockey in this book as Reed is in the off season celebrating the Cold Fury’s Stanley Cup win and it didn’t bother me that it was the off season!

The characters are terrific! I absolutely loved Josie! She is a terrific heroine that challenged Reed. He needed it as he was stuck in a rut dating only the same type of women. Josie witnessed his string of “Barbies” come and go from his townhouse. How they met was an absolute riot. Reed was having very noisy sexy times with his flavor of the day and their activities were so noisy that they kept Josie awake. Working long hours in the ER, Josie needs her rest. She marches over to Reed’s door and to give him a piece of her mind. Thus, the interest in Josie begins for Reed, this spunky little brunette. As their paths cross, he finds he is intrigued with her. He thought she was brilliant, witty and a lot of fun to be around. It had nothing to do with her petite curvy body. Nope. He was usually into tall, stacked blondes. Not short, curvy brunettes. My, my how things change.

I loved the journey of their romance. The easiness of how they fell into friendship. Of course, there was that underlying electrical current. Once they made the turn into a relationship the sparks flew. Reed was a good balance for Josie. He was the spontaneous, fun guy that Josie needed. He brought excitement to her life. He was so sweet, he even bought a puzzle to put together at his house because Josie liked to do puzzles to help her unwind after work. I was so worried when Aiden came back and wanted to win Josie back. I was white knuckling my iPad there for a while.

Even though this is the tenth book in this series, I was captivated by this sweet and sexy story and once I started, I couldn’t put it down. The Cold Fury series never disappoints me, and it never gets old. I love each and every one of these guys and the terrific women that are their perfect fit. I can’t wait for more Cold Fury!

Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors. I one-click everything she writes. I get lost her worlds of suspense, angst, and heat, but REED just didn’t hit the mark for me. It lacked the angst and drama and even spice I’ve come to expect and LOVE from this author.

Reed is absolutely adorable. His vibrancy for life is contagious, and, even as a reader, you can’t help but catch his mood. Josie is also a great heroine: easy going, smart, and witty. Their chemistry is great and light. There really is nothing wrong then as characters or a couple.

Reed’s story is sweet, maybe too sweet. I missed the angst and drama of the Cold Fury books of the past. I needed a bigger, more substantial conflict, something to test this couple. I was, in fact, more drawn to the plot of Marek, and the storyline that Bennett has set up with his appearance in the novel.

Reed was a miss for me, but the writing is still fantastic with lovable characters and light romance. I just found myself putting the book down instead of being consumed as I normally am by her words. I am still, though, looking forward to Marek, as that seems to be promising in the drama department.

LOVED how Reed & Josie met! Their friendship was super cute and I enjoyed watching them develop into more! I can’t wait to continue to learn about this team.

I love this series. Honestly one of my favorites. Reed did not disappoint me in the slightest. In fact, he may have slipped into second place. This series could continue on forever and I would be okay with it.

“You’re it for me, Reed,” I whisper. “The love I was supposed to wait for.”
There is something about Sawyer Bennett’s writing that I just can’t help but to get lost in her words. I fell in love with the Cold Fury series since day one, I have read every single one of these books and I don’t ever want them to end. I love Josie and Reed’s story so darn much. He’s so charismatic and sexy and so swoons worthy.
“Something I’ve never had before. Something I didn’t think I needed. Now that I’ve had it, it’s something I don’t want to do without.”
I didn’t want this book to because there’s just something about Reed and Josie’s story that draws you in and you get so addicted. The chemistry between these two was off the charts and the back and forth banter between them will leave you wanting more. I love a great friend to lover’s romance and Sawyer Bennett nailed it with Reed and Josie’s story.
Funny, sexy and charming are just a few words I would use to describe this book and I love a book that have a perfect HEA.

Reed is the tenth book in Sawyer Bennett's Cold Fury Series. Surprisingly, I've read most of the Cold Fury series, but I've only reviewed Hawke. Weird. Anyways, I've really enjoyed reading this series. My favorite is Zack, the third book in the series. Each book focuses on a different Cold Fury player and can be read as a standalone.

Reed Olson was looking forward to his summer of no strings sex after winning another Stanley Cup with the Carolina Cold Fury. But after a night of "okay" sex introduces him to his new neighbor, he can't seem to get her off of his mind. Their friendship eventually adds some mutually appreciated benefits.

But when life and outside insecurities arise, will they be able to realize their feelings for each other are real?

The Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series continues with Reed. Can a make who lives for one-night adventures find comfort with just one woman? Can he discover that love is priceless and his heart can be trusted?

Don't miss this hockey romance from an author who delivers heat both off and on the ice.

I absolutely fell for Reed and Josie. They really built up their friendship and when they finally took it to the next level, lord almighty was it hot!

I adored how this book really started from the bottom and gave a realistic, I mean, as realistic as can be for a book, foundation for a great relationship starting from neighbors to friends to lovers.

Josie is someone to admire as she strove for her goals and her career rather than waiting on a man or following her ex around the world when he left. I think that was something you could tell Reed appreciated about her.

Their conversations and rapport had me giggling quite often. I really enjoyed reading this story and I cannot wait for snippets of them in the upcoming books for the Cold Fury.

My favorite men are back!!! I’m always waiting to return back to North Carolina to catch up with them, and Reed was definitely worth the wait!

Reed is enjoying the offseason, usually with a different girl every few days. He has a certain type, blonde, tall, and busty. One night in the midst of enjoying the company of one of his ladies, a woman shows up at his door…not one of his usual ones, but his neighbor, Josie. She is not happy! It seems his party in the bedroom is keeping her awake. She has just come off a long shift as an ER doctor. As she is telling him to put a muzzle on his “Screaming Barbie,” he is most definitely intrigued by her. This is the beginning of a casual friendship between the two, eating pizzas and working on her jigsaw puzzles. As they spend more time together, that line of friendship is blurred when they find it hard to keep their hands off of one another. Will their friends with benefits arrangement turn into something more permanent?

One of my favorite things about this book was the easy friendship between Reed and Josie. They are so comfortable with one another, and I just loved the banter between the two of them, especially when she names his blond women, Screaming Barbie, Carb Barbie, and Ditzy Barbie. He helps her get out of her planning mode, and gets her to be more spontaneous and have fun. She loves Reed for who he is as a man, not the celebrity hockey player.

As they take more steps toward becoming a couple, they begin to question their own self-worth. Josie thinks Reed has a type, and she is not the type of girl he is usually attracted to. Yet, Reed has never really dated, but Josie doesn’t make that connection. As she questions her physical beauty, he doesn’t think he is good enough or smart enough for her. She is so independent and strong, he isn’t sure she really needs him for anything. With all their accomplishments, her an ER doctor and him a talented, successful hockey player, they have the same issues all of us do. Sawyer Bennett is a master at making her characters realistic with normal human flaws that her readers can identify with.

There are some surprises in the book, and they made the book even better. Bennett has again done a phenomenal job of whetting our appetite for the next book which will be about Marek. I can’t wait to see the story he has in store for us. So, for now, I will tell my favorite hockey players and the women they love good-bye until I see them again!

Reed by Sawyer Bennett is part of the Cold Fury Hockey Series. Reed Olson is riding high. His team has won the Stanley Cup again and he is enjoying some time off, but the revolving door of women is getting tiresome. When his neighbor Josie Ives knocks on his door in the middle of the night to see if his current bed-mate, christened "Screaming Barbie" by Josie, could possibly be a little more quiet, Reed is intrigued by her wit and spirit. After more interactions with Josie, Reed realizes that he might be missing something with the hot on the outside, empty on the inside women he's been with and goes about inserting himself into Josie's life.

I liked how Reed's character really cared about Josie, from the get go and then as he becomes her friend its in a very thoughtful, though at times direct way. He is sweet and romantic and really cares about taking care of her. Josie, as an ER doctor is from a very different world than Reed and he is a good compliment for her. By being outside of her work realm he gives her things she almost doesn't know she needs.

Overall I have been very much enjoying the Cold Fury Series. Sawyer Bennett has made each one it's own unique thing, while still maintaining the overall web of characters and Reed was another great addition. Sweet, caring, fun and passionate, I very much recommend.

Loved!

I've gotten a little behind in this series--I have no excuse! Must fix ASAP--but of the half-dozen I've read, Reed and Josie's story definitely ranks up there as one of my favorites. There isn't even any hockey, since it's between seasons (but there is some quality time with the Cup :)) and not a whole lot of drama--Ms. Bennett definitely had multiple opportunities to go the "big misunderstanding" route, but wisely kept it real. What we have instead is a lovely romance between an off-season hockey star and his ER doctor neighbor that made me laugh and then swoon and then laugh again. (And okay, several more swoons, I'll admit.) Watching them go from neighbors to friends to friends with benefits to something neither of them expected going in was just so much fun. Did I mention I loved their story? ;)

Now the next book, Marek , looks to have all of the angsty drama that Reed's story doesn't have, and I can't wait! We get a healthy dose of what's going to be in store for him here, and since he's close friends with Reed, my fingers are crossed that we'll get to see more of Reed and Josie as well. (Anticipatory squeeee!)

4.5 stars--REED is the tenth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult COLD FURY HOCKEY sport, romance series focusing on the members of the professional hockey team the Carolina Cold Fury. This is Carolina Cold Fury hockey player Reed Olson, and ER physician Josie Ives’ story line. REED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person points of view (Josie and Reed) REED is an opposites attract/friends to lovers story line that follows the building relationship between ER physician Josie Ives, and hockey player Reed Olson. Following their second Stanley Cup win the members of the Cold Fury hockey team are due for some R&R, and Reed Olson takes relaxation to the max with a series of one-night stands that are a little too loud for his neighbor’s enjoyment. Enter ER physician Josie Ives, and the woman with whom Reed will fall in love. What ensues is the friends to lovers relationship between Josie and Reed, and the potential fall out as Reed believes Josie can do much better than a high-school educated hockey player with too much time on his hands.

Reed Olson is a bit of a manwh*re whose late night antics are fodder for his friends and the new neighbour next door but something about Josie Ives draws Reed like a moth to a flame that he is willing to explore one way or another. A slow start to their friendship including picture puzzles, picnics, pizza and beer finds Josie falling for Reed Olson, and thinking about giving love a second chance.

The secondary and supporting characters include Reed’s fellow teammates Marek Fabritis and Tanner Craig, as well as the return of Alex and Sutton, and Garrett and Olivia. The camaraderie between teammates is humorous and fun. We are introduced fellow ER physicians Kathy Krantz, Kevin Mills and Josie’s ex boyfriend Dr. Aiden McCune.

REED is a story of friendship, romance, fun and adventure. There are no overt conflicts or over the top dramas that threaten to destroy Reed and Josie’s building relationship except Reed’s lack of confidence as it pertains to falling in love with a woman he believes to be out of his league- their differences may be too large for our hero to overcome. Josie is a strong, feisty female heroine who knows what she wants; Reed is successful hockey player who is willing to take a chance for something more. It is the off-season therefore hockey takes a backseat to the relationship. The premise is sweet and sexy; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are energetic and real. REED is a heart warming and uplifting story.

You would think after so many books that the Cold Fury series would start to get “old” and go a little stale, but Ms. Bennet has mastered the art of keeping the series fresh. It helps that the series is written in multiple sets featuring groups of interconnected characters, so the true supporting cast that needs to be kept track of is fairly small compared to the whole Cold Fury hockey team.
Reed is the first book in a new set within the series and a character that we haven’t seen or heard too much about before now. We meet him not long into his summer break - where he’s determined to have fun when fate knocks on his door in the form of his neighbor Josie.
Reed and Josie’s story is definitely on the lighter/sweeter side as we watch them go from friends to lovers. It was fun watching Reed grow up and start to see the value in a relationship, even when he didn’t really know it was happening. I also appreciated that while Ms. Bennett set up a classic conflict, she took it in a slightly different direction that was true to the characters and honestly made me like them even more.
There is some set up for the next book, but it’s done seamlessly and in such a way that the reader doesn’t feel like they are leaving Reed and Josie’s story to get there.
Overall, this was a great addition to a fun series and I am looking forward to the next installment.

This was a fab, fun read!

Reed is set for a summer of fun, relaxation, and burning through his little black book. When his latest hookup has his new neighbour banging on his front door, he's somewhat intrigued by the petite, brunette ER doctor. She's the complete opposite to his usual type - so why can't he stop thinking about her?

Josie works all hours in a job that she finds infinitely fulfilling. The gorgeous wallbanger next door amuses her. She knows she's not his type but she's happy being his friend, although the more time she spends with him, the more she'd like to move to the next level.

Loved the dynamic between Reed and Josie! The chemistry between them was sizzling, and I loved how much Reed admired Josie. The progression in their friendship to beyond felt really natural. I loved how Reed encroached on her time and forced her to be spontaneous. I loved how he brought colour to her life, which seemed so rigid and professional, and lacking in fun times.

This was a light-hearted, low-angst romance that was a delightful read!

Reed is the tenth book in the Cold Fury Hockey series by the amazing Sawyer Bennett. As always the writing is fantastic, the story intriguing, the characters sexy and fun. Honestly, I didn't see Reed coming! He was surprisingly wonderful! And he's right up there with Ryker! Van just went down to number three. Sorry. Not Sorry. Reed is a carefree ladies man who loves his Barbie's. Tall, blonde, big boobs and no brains. When he interrupts his neighbor with his extra-curricular activities, she doesn't hesitate to give him a piece of her mind. She's petite, brunette and pretty. Not his usual type, but he still finds himself attracted to her. After a few more chance meetings, Reed wants to be friends with his feisty neighbor. He likes her. She's funny and she's smart and she's a doctor. They find they have a lot in common and they easily fall into a routine of seeing each more often. Dinner, beer and tv. It's the perfect casual friendship. Until Reed decides he wants more. Yes, he wants time with her in his bed, but he also wants more conversation, more fun and just more. He's never been friends with a woman before and he loves it. Josie is just the prefect woman. She doesn't mind just hanging out. She doesn't take forever getting ready and she's not a Barbie. Reed ups the romance and is going to convince Josie to become more than friends. Josie is totally on board with this. I mean, this is Reed. He's tall, sexy, handsome and did I say sexy? Friends to lovers seems to happen seamlessly until Josie's past comes back and shakes Reed's confidence. Can Reed get past his issues and see that Josie is everything he's always wanted? Will Josie fight for Reed and what she wants? I can't even with this book. Reed was just perfection. His sexiness, fun loving attitude and his giant heart. Josie is smart, funny and easy going. They seem to be an unlikely pair, but they fit together perfectly. And they prove that friends to lovers makes it all so much better. I'm not ready to say goodbye to Reed and Josie yet!

"Whatever. You'd fall down in worship if I let you have a crack at this."
"I think we need to make a stop in the neurology department. You need an MRI of the brain or something."

"I should have you move stuff for me more often," I observe as he squats to set a box down on the floor.
"Like what you see, huh?"
"Oh yeah. Like a lot."
"Well, let's get this bad boy hooked up and then I'll do a striptease for you in the bedroom."
