It can be difficult to believe that we can make a real difference in the world. After all, we're only one person. Rodney D Bullard wants people to know that they actually can make a difference. He shares interesting stories that showcase the ways other people have shown compassion and bravery. All of us were created in God's image with the ability to show compassion and be heroic. I really enjoyed reading the stories that Bullard used. This was an interesting, fun read.

Inspiring words, from an accomplished professional. He advises on how to do some soul-searching to locate the 'hero' deep within you - so that you can leverage that in order to advance yourself and also the community around you.

Having long enjoyed the fare at Chik-fil-A, and having heard of their Christian mission to treat employees fairly and give back to the community, I was intrigued by this book by Rodney Bullard, the Executive Director of their Foundation. As one who has served in the military, worked for NASA, and been a U.S. Attorney and White House Fellow, he has some impressive credentials.

Even more impressive than his credentials, however, is his desire to give back. His passion and excitement are palpable as he describes his desire to invest in others and build up communities around the nation. Some of the directives he mentions I've heard before, but his words carry the power of having lived it out, instead of sounding like "bumper sticker" ideals. He has proved it and lived out his advice. His words are delivered with a surety and a tenderness that draws you in, with no boasting or self-congratulation. Rodney shows through numerous anecdotes how to use the gifts and talents that we all have to start something that will have lasting impact. He provides a road map to clarify how to get started, and how to get to where we want to be. No matter how small we think our skills are, they are indispensable to the our communities and the world.

I left very impressed with Rodney, and with the missional nature of Chik-Fil-A. More than tossing out a bit of money to look good in the press or to the accountants, this is a corporation that really gets it. What a great model and path for companies to follow. Recommended.
