I tried only one of the patterns so far but it turned out great! I'm not sure it's worth paying money for this book but it's definitely nice to have the patterns for free.

Who doesn’t love a little breezy summer accessory? When I saw this book I just knew that I wanted to check out what it had to offer because of the summer options that I love to work on in the summer. My daughters get out our crochet hooks, look through and pick a pattern, and go for it. Great fun! From bags to hair pretties to clothes… it’s all included.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Nice ideas to create summer accessories by applying colorful crochet. This book can be used by beginners or advanced users. The authors added an annex of beginner tutorials that are easy to follow specially when you're preparing your first crochet.

Summertime Crochet: 30 Tops, Bags, Wraps, Hats, & More for Sunny Days & Balmy Nights by Helgrid van Impelen and Verena Woehlk Appel is a collection of instructions and patterns that take advantage of today's cotton and linen yarns. These yarns are perfect for lighter apparel like tanks, motif tops, and cute hats. Breezy articles that can all be crocheted and are just right for warm-weather style.

Summertime Crochet is a well organized collection of patterns with bright, bold photographs that capture the feel, drape, and possible styles for the featured pieces. The instructions are understandable, with notes about skill level and options to adjust sizing. I really like that the notes about yardage often includes matching or related items from the book. I really likes some of the ideas and patterns, like the espadrilles. However, I found some of the patterns to look much like theses easily found on free pattern websites. I also found a few that had me thinking, just because you can does not mean you should- or maybe I am just old- because crochet bikini pieces make me shudder (and they always have). I do like that the basic instructions for the stitches and terms is included at the end, for some of the beginner crafters than want or need the additional support.

Summertime Crochet is a small collection of patterns for working in cotton and linen yarn. I was not greatly impressed by it, but think that it would be helpful for those that prefer to work in these yarns, and do not want to go looking for the patterns every time they want to make a lightweight hat, shawl, or handbag.

Full of fashionable little projects suitable for any level of crochet. Warm Triangular Shawl with Pizzazz is on my list already!

A nice collection of simple patterns. Bags, hats, scarves, shawls, skirts, and tops can all be found here. They are clearly labeled with the skill level and I feel those are accurate. The sized products have tips for editing them to be your size (the sized instructions appear to be all or mostly size small. Because they are designed to be worn in summer these are mostly easy, open, and fast patterns to work.

Lovely patterns, but more complicated than my abilities allow.

I tested quite a few patterns from this book, and they were pretty easy to follow and worked up quickly.

I often hear both knitters and crocheters talk about how there's little to make during the summer because everything feels "too heavy" or "too warm". This collection of crocheting projects is perfect not only for summertime use, but also for summertime crocheting.

All of the patterns call either for cotton or cotton blend material, so the yarn will have some give after use. The book has patterns for all levels of crocheting, and includes patterns for bags, bikini tops, summer styled hats, and a few other awesome projects. And the colors the designers chose are all bright and eye catching, which makes the book visually appealing as well.

I enjoyed this new entry on the crochet shelf. There are diverse patterns included for everything from garments to accessories and footwear. Each pattern has a clear image, written instructions and materials list, and notes the skill level required for the project. Several patterns note the pattern chart and diagram for finishing can be referenced in the rear of the book. While many projects are geared toward a teen or twenty-something crowd (crochet bikini tops), I found several I would make. The White Waves Airy Chevron Shirt is one of my favorites and a must make.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I love the versatility of this book! The patterns are fun, light and perfect for summer wear or use! There are patterns for vests, shirts, bags, wraps, ponchos, hats, and even shoes!

The patterns are well written and easy to follow. I especially love the bags with the filet crochet patterns. The yarns used are primarily cotton or linen, which is ideal for summer use. The awesome variety of patterns is what will keep this on my reference shelf for fun summer projects.

My only critique of the book is that the patterns for shirt and vest sizes accommodate up to a size large only. I wish there were sizes a bit larger. Overall, though, this is a great book full of fun patterns.

I would recommend this for purchase in our collection. I lead a stitch group that meets twice a month throughout the year. During the summer, it would be great to have this book out for those interested in making something lighter or for the beach. It would also be great to recommend for those looking to make gifts for graduates.

I thought that the colors of yarn used and the designs of the patterns were attractive and matched the beach/summer vibe well.

Summertime Crochet is full of cute projects for the younger crowd (teens through twenties). Each pattern has well-written instructions that are easy to follow. There are also instructions for each of the necessary crochet stitches in the back of the book should you need a refresher.

As a crocheter, I can definitely recommend this book.

Many thanks to Net-Galley and Stackpole Books for allowing me to read and review an e-ARC of this book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley for my unbiased opinion of the book. I really enjoyed this book. There were quite of few on the basic skill level that looks challenging but is very easy and is higher skilled projects also available. The tutorial for stitches in the back of the book was helpful along with the crochet key. I was able to successfully make Cozy Stoll For Windy Days, Maritime Beach Throw and Handy Totes, I look forward to making several more projects this book offers!!

About what you would expect from a typical instructional crochet book. It has everything you needs to create each project with vivid images, clear instructions, and information relevant to the pattern such as skill level and materials needs.

Most of the crochet seems to be geared towards a younger crowd, and for someone who has sensitive skin, some these items would feel awful against my skin. That being said, there is a wide variety project, so there is something for everyone regardless of taste or skill level. A good addition to the library of someone looking to add to their collection and need more than the stereotypical winter wear.

Wow, the patterns included in this book are amazing! Beach bags and beach throws. I don’t know if I would dare with a bikini top but it all looks amazing.

The photography in the book is absolutely gorgeous. That alone will make you want to pick up a crochet hook and get started. The projects are well explained - but with one or two exceptions - not my personal taste.
