This is the 8th book in the X-Ops series and I highly recommend you read the previous books so that you understand exactly what is happening in this one. This book is about Dr. Zarina Sokolov and Tanner Howland. Zarina was the doctor we saw previously who helped make the Hybrids against her will and Tanner is one of those Hybrids made. There are actually two stories being told here, one is about Tanner and Zarina working on their issues not only together but personally. Another is what is going on in Maine with Tate. There are definitely a lot of sub plots and you have to make sure you pay attention to what you are reading or you will find yourself going back because you missed something subtle.

There were a lot of things happening in this book and parts of it seemed to be all over the place to me. I love that Tanner finally got his full story and he gets his HEA but there were parts of this book that just kinda left me hanging. I really liked seeing the different stories being told but on the other hand I almost felt like there were two different stories trying to be told at once. It threw me off slightly. Still a great read and definitely well worth it. I just wish it focused more on Zarina and Tanner. On the other hand I really can't wait to see what happens after the epilogue!!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Wow, each book just gets better and better in tis series! I was so exited when I saw that Tanner and Zarina were finally going to get their chance for romance. All I can say is that Zarina really had to be patient and stubborn as she waited for Tanner to realize that he could get close to someone.

I love the side stories with Tate and Chase and Tanner and his family. I connected the dots when Tanner ran into Ryan and some other clues led me to what was going on.

The book is filled with intrigue, action, plots, twists, and romance. It really helps if you have read the previous books in the series and there is an ongoing plot line and a large cast of characters that make up the DCO. I loved that Tanner was able to reconnect with his family at the end!

Can't wait for the next book to come out and see where the DCO is going to go forward after the shifters and hybrids were exposed to the world.

X-Ops Exposed by Paige Tyler
8th book in the paranormal thriller series. Best to read in order because of an overall arc.
Military style activities with romance as the central theme with shifter hybrids fighting to stay sane and in control against out of control “bad guys”.

I’ve read all of these and enjoy the nonstop action. This one was more action and less romance. Quite a bit of violence. Because it’s a series, I can live with some open ended questions.
But the end? I have a LOVE / HATE feeling. The hate because it’s a cliff hanger and OMG, what’s going to happen next and how long do I have to wait for the next book. The love...well, you’ll have to read it.

Excerpt simply because I like humor in my reading:
“Zarina gave her a sad smile. “I wish it could be. But, like Spencer, Tanner is constantly worried about hurting me or someone else who’s important to him. That’s why he’s been living here on his own for the past two months. He thinks that’s the only way to keep people safe.”
Lillie let out a sound of frustration. “What is it with guys? Spencer’s has said the exact same thing to me a dozen times. He thinks it’d be better for everyone if he goes to Alaska and lives alone in the wilderness. Are all men born with the same macho crap in their DNA?”
Excerpt from X-Ops Exposed by Paige Tyler.

Four stars

I didn't realize this was 8th in a series so I felt lost in some places but overall an intriguing story.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

Great first read by this author. The story flows nicely. Loved the characters. Paranormal is always a fun and interesting genre.

X-Ops Exposed is the eighth book in the X-Ops Series by Paige Tyler. It delves deeper into new faces in the Department of Covert Affairs team and fleshes out the intra group dynamics. While some of the favorite characters from the DCO team do make cameos in this book, the focus is on illuminating the back stories and focusing on the character development of the lead characters, Lion shifter Tanner Howland and the genetic scientist Dr. Zarina Sokolov

This book fleshes out Dr. Zarina Sokolov, a genetic scientist with the DCO. She works tirelessly to reverse the hybrid serum in order to save the hybrids and turn them human again. She found herself in the middle of a series of disappearances surrounding a survivalist group, disappearances that are darker and more sinister than anyone could know.

Lion hybrid shifter Tanner Howland is a highly powerful hybrid who while protecting his friends and Zarina must learn to control the beast within.
Together, Tanner and Zarina work together to save themselves from the hunters who track them down in the wilderness and when things spiral out of control Tanner's and Zarina's relationship becomes stronger forged in fire.

Also, across the country in Maine Tate Evers teams up with a potential new character trying to solve similar problems and try to root out enemies of the DCO.

This book does justice to its name and is truly spellbinding. Paige Tyler’s expansion of her shifter mythos has given 'X Ops exposed' more nuance and depth while melding humour with paranormal suspense. Her characters have such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

Thanks for NetGalley for the ARC

I have read all her books so far in this series, and this book didn’t disappoint me at all. The love story is intense and hot. I like that you learn about a new couple in every book. I can only hope she writes more about them. She has really done it again.

I was given this ARC in exchange of a honest review.

Tanner and Zarina’s story has been much anticipated throughout the entire series, but for me it was an underwhelming story.

I have loved this series from the very first book, but felt that this one had less emphasis on the main couple and more on the secondary plot.

Overall, a good story, but not great.

After losing control in a battle at the DCO, Tanner, a hybrid, hides out in the wilds of Washington state so he doesn’t hurt anyone. Especially the genetics doctor he secretly loves, Zarina. Zarina, secretly in love with Tanner, has developed an antiserum to turn him human again. But with some serious side effects. She follows him to Washington. There they get involved with a group of people living off the grid who are being kidnapped. They try to help and end up in danger themselves.

Concurrently, Tate Evers is sent to Maine on a murder case. Tate is currently without a shifter partner. In Maine he ends up unwillingly partnered with a deputy sheriff, Chase. Their dynamic is funny, and I hope we see more of Chase.

Tanner ends up in a life-or-death situation, which leads to a tender moment with Zarina that I loved.

The end is another shocking game-changer for the series. X-Ops continues to twist and turn and surprise its fans!

Another great book in the series. Two people finally have a chance to understand their feelings towards each other, but he wants nothing to do with her; he wants to be away from everyone. Because of what's been done to him he knows he's a danger to all, especially to the woman he desires. She has finally found a way to help him and to reverse what has been done to him, but when she tells him he refuses. She's not taking no for an answer. She refuses to leave him and when he tries to take her back to civilization he instead leads her right smack into danger. They learn of mysterious disappearances from a group of survivalist that include people they both know and before they can find out what's happening more people have been taken. The story is filled with action, danger, and the discovery of love and passion. If you haven't read this series, X-Ops, it's about time you did. Every book is filled with adventure, suspense, thrills, magnificent characters, love and passion. Get it them now at your favorite book site.

Zarina and Tanner’s ongoing saga is just what makes up half of the story; the other half is a rather major sub-plot taking place across the country in Maine as the now-partnerless Tate Evers teams up with a potential new lead (but cool) character trying to solve more of the same problem. I’m admittedly not too fond of the part where Tyler introduces survivalists, but they do play a part in the larger narrative arc, even if the push-pull between Zarina and Tanner doesn’t make much headway as the sub-plot gains in traction.

Fans of the series will love this story. Lots of fighting and loving, and behind-the-scenes machinations to expose the hybrids. The over-arching plot keeps getting deeper. New characters are introduced, but this is Tanner and Zarina’s story. Zarina is fiercely loyal to the point of sacrificing her own safety, Tanner is protective to the point of losing his humanity. Together, they bring out the best in each other.

If you haven’t read the other books in this series, I’m afraid you will not enjoy this story to the fullest. Go back and enjoy the others first. Tyler has crafted a plot that has easily sustained 8 books in the series, so a person to the series will have hours and hours of fun. Each book continues on towards the next without full resolution, but the wise reader understands that the next book in the series will continue the story.

He lived through hell and now Tanner has gone “hermit” on the world to protect those he loves, especially Dr. Zarina Sokolov, the woman he left behind who has a firm grip on his heart. Did he really believe the brilliant scientist wouldn’t’ track him down, even if it meant into the wilderness, unprepared for the wilds of Washington state?

Little did Zarina know she would find herself in the middle of a series of disappearances surrounding a survivalist group, disappearances that are darker and more sinister than anyone could know. Now Tanner must embrace the animal within to keep her safe, but will she be safe from him or will she find a way to sooth the beast within?

Across the country, Tate Evers is caught up in more kidnappings and they all have the same theme, genetic experimentation, murder by wild animal and a twist we couldn’t have seen coming.

How do two separate plots get woven together? Ah, that is the brilliance of Paige Tyler’s writing in action! X-OPS EXPOSED is another intriguing, action-packed tale that introduces a new character or two into the mix, possibly as fodder for more in the series? Expect the sizzle of romance, threats both known and unknown and some warm family time as Tanner learns that no man is an island and quite possibly, the doctor really does know best!

X-Ops Exposed by Paige Tyler is the 8th book in her wonderful X-Ops series. When we last left off in the last book, things were about to change for the X-Ops team, with a new management in charge. Tanner Howland, our hero, likes living alone in the forest in Washington State. Tanner is a hybrid Feline shifter, who has problems controlling his beast due to the drugs he had been given that made him a shifter.
Zarina Sokolov, our heroine, is a doctor who has treated Tanner, and other members of the team. She has been trying to find a serum that will reverse the drugs that made the hybrids, and then mental instability. Zarina has fallen in love with Tanner, and now with the serum, she follows him to the forest.
Tanner is not happy when he sees Zarina, though he also loves her, but he is worried that his beast will hurt her; and he is determined to send her packing. Zarina refuses to leave, and tries to convince Tanner to allow her to give him the serum, which he refuses to take, especially since this new drug will make him forget about her.
There is another group of humans and hybrids living in the forest that Tanner will work with, especially when some of their group begins to disappear. Tanner will join with that group to track and find out who is behind the kidnappings. We get to meet some hybrids we had met previously, and other members of this group of people living in the forest who now have their lives in danger.
Despite his attempt to force Zarina to leave, Tanner knows she is needed to help doctor those injured. Slowly their romance heats up, and once they both allow their feelings show, they know there is no turning back. But the question: Will they survive?
There was also a second storyline that Tate (another X-Op member) was sent to determine if a series of murders in a small town were animal related (or were they hybrids gone wild?). The Doctor behind drugging the hybrids was suspected of being part of these murders. The deputy sheriff, Chase, was assigned to work with Tate during his investigation. Chase is unaware of hybrids, and becomes a great partner for Tate.
When Tanner and the other hybrids are captured, Zarina will call Landon (acting chief of X-Ops) to get help. What follows is an intense, fast paced, exciting and dangerous attempt to rescue the men. It was great and fun to see all our former heroes, such as Landon, Ivy, Tate, Clayne Declan, Kendra, Danica, Diaz, and some newbies that I look forward to learning more about (Cam & Chase). It will take the entire team to band together to save and fight this violent bad group, one who is a former friend of Tanner. At this point, Tate (with Chase to help) will be sent to help the team save Tanner and the others.
When things get wild and crazy, lives are on the line and Zarina must act quickly to give the serum to any of the hybrids that are losing control. Will Tanner be one of them, and forget about Zarina?

The last half of the book was very suspenseful, with a few twists, and a thrilling ride to the finish. Paige Tyler, as always, gives us another terrific story, with another wonderful couple, and great secondary characters. X-Ops Exposed is an exciting, fun, suspenseful, fast-paced, action filled and intense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. X-Ops is a great series, and you need to start from the beginning, in order to enjoy all the wonderful characters and the continuing story line.

Lots going on in this latest in the X-Ops world. Two separate stories going on.

On the west coast...Wolf shifter Tanner Howland get embroiled with some preppers in the woods when he runs away due to being overwhelmed with both PTSD and being a hybrid – two conditions he is unable to control. On his heels is Dr Zarina Sokolov who is in love with him and thinks she has a serum that could help him.

On the east coast...DCO operative Tate Evers is sent to Maine to look into a death that looked like it was from a wild animal. While investigating he teams up with Deputy Chase York. Their investigation leads them to one of the Doctors that experimented on the hybrids and also the escaped hybrid daughter of the woman now in charge of the DCO. That's a huge can of worms that still not resolved in this book..

Then the crew from east coast goes west when Tanner and Zarina end up in trouble.. This sets up a complete game changing event that forever changes the DCO and the series.

Next book should be interesting as after that ending nothing will ever be the same from the shifters and their human partners ever again..

I wouldn't recommend this as an entry point into the series for 2 reasons -- 1. Tanner & Zarina's relationship has been developing (at a slow burn) over several books & 2. the series overall plot line to find & stop the crazy geneticists & their backers. While overall the story was satisfying and had plenty of action & good moments, I did have some trouble getting into the book and found it to be a slower read. think this was in part do my reading mood & in part to the story's pace/plotting. There are 2 distinct & separate story lines in the book. Both take up significant page time and do not intersect. For those who've been following the series, this will be another interesting action packed installment and will be happy to see Tanner & Zarina find their HEA.

There is the much anticipated exploration and fruition of the relationship between Tanner & Zarina on the west coast where Tanner ran off to at the end of the last book out of fear of hurting anyone while in a hybrid rage. He thinks it's best to remain isolated from others particularly those he cares about rather than risk doing something he'll regret. After giving him time to mope & come to his senses (which he doesn't naturally) and for her to do more research (which she does successfully), Zarina decides enough is enough & goes west to fight for her man. While there is some fighting/resisting, both quickly realize their feelings and before long admit & start to talk things out (I really appreciated how the author brought out the revelations & also kept the characters true to themselves as they've been written to date and as equals). During this time they've discover that others "living off the grid" in the area are being attacked & turning up missing. They work to discover what is happening and help out. We also get to learn more about Tanner's history.

Meanwhile on the east coast, efforts are under way to search for the missing scientist behind the hybrid experiments and to stop him & his backers. Tate is sent to New England to check out a mysterious & puzzling animal attack death of a genetics doctor that may or may not have been involved in the hybrid program run out of a mental institute in the area (investigated in a prior book) as well as the possible return of the escaped (possibly feral) shifter from the hospital looking for revenge. a significant page time is spent on this subplot with the action switching back and forth between the 2 coasts. although progress is made, and interesting developments occur, resolution is put on hold when Tanner & Zarina need help on the west coast where events are unfolding that will lead the x-ops heading to uncharted paths.
