This was a great little camping cookbook. We love to camp, but always end up making me same exact things when we go I appreciated that these were simple, but interesting recipes and got some great new ideas.

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. I learned some new recipes from this cookbook, and enjoyed reading it. I like the writing style and the variety of recipes. I want to go camping now.

This was a great cookbook that went past the basic recipes that tend to be in camping books like this. I enjoy cooking so having some more complicated things to try while out in nature is perfect for me

I had big plans for this book since we went camping 2x this year. A little too fancy for my 2 year old's tastes but included some very unique food combinations I would be interested in. A true foodie or chef would appreciate the diversity and flavors. It does require a bit more prep work for some of the recipes. My 2 year old daughter did appreciate the new ideas for s'mores and I appreciated the beautiful guides. Overall, I would try more recipes in a few years when I don't need to constantly supervise my daughter.

Fun cookbook for reference and to flip through! Serves as more of a backyard/nearby cookbook more than taking camping, but still enjoyable to use and look through!

A creative and original cookbook for camping. This book goes beyond simple s'mores and hot dogs on a stick to include more extravagant cookout meals. There are also camping tips for beginners. "The Campout Cookbook" would make a great gift for your favorite outdoors person or someone that wants to start camping.

This is an interesting book but more along the lines of something for people who go glamping than families like mine. I would prefer more simple but delicious food to cook at a campout.

the Campout Cookbook is cute, but a bit too fancy for my type of camping. It has some some good recipes for home cooking, but not really meant for the minimalist camping. Also the drawing are fun and list in the book are informative.

SO MUCH S’MORE!
This spectacular book is so much more than I ever expected! It’s the elegant evening companion to The Picnic, the award-winning cookbook by the same authors. This one boasts 75 delish recipes — all cocktails and hot libations, fire-roasted vegetables, wood-fired skillet pizzas, hearty stews and chilies. Even campfire standards like s’mores done up right with dark chocolate, raspberries and caramel. Can you even imagine? And not to be outdone by the recipes alone are these imaginative extras, per the publisher’s note:

SCARY STORIES
“How to find a suitable campsite and build a campfire specifically for cooking over, and how to keep it going. Stargazing for city slickers. A troubleshooting guide. And the definitive packing list and camp kitchen essentials. Just add a few scary stories for a truly memorable campout.”

GLOWING
Plus that cover that glows like embers. 5/5 Stars ‘though I’d love to grant it so many s’more! 😉

Do you like cooking? Or camping? Ever wondered what you should cook when you camp? MAybe this book could help you, filling you up with all the recipes.

This has some great recipes in it, but there is 100% no way any of them are do-able, actual camping-appropriate recipes. Anyone who takes a melon baller camping needs to check their definitions. The amount of stuff they suggest is truly ridiculous. Plenty of the recipes would be great for summer, grilling, and maybe even picnicking. But camping? Not a chance.

I also found the writing style very off-putting: too cutesy-frou-frou, too fake buddy-buddy. Annoying.

Fun book about ALL things camping. You won't be without a resource with this handy book. The recipes are really just a smallish portion of the book. There is a ton of information! The recipes look pretty gourmet for my family's camping experience but there is a lot of variety and something for everyone.

I loved this book so much! I am a camping fanatic and loved that this book not only gives a nice list of foods you can easily make while camping but also includes basics like how to find the ideal campsite, how to build a campfire that is made for cooking over, and 99 ways to use a thermos! I feel like this book would be a perfect gift for both avid campers and newbies because it doesn't assume the knowledge base of the reader audience and gives enough direction so that anyone can use it. It really goes beyond the cookbook genre and becomes more of a how-to-guide which makes it integral for campers or backpackers even. This is one that I will have to get for my kitchen and to take camping with me.

This cookbook has many good recipes for the outdoor cook. I am a foodie and I like to continue to be a foodie when I am in the woods and this book will help with that. I have also purchased this book for a friend who takes his kids on a long trip in the boundary waters every summer, and he was really excited by the recipes.

It is currently the middle of winter, but reading this book made me wish it was summertime so I could go camping.

With a few fun illustrations, this guide has complied a lot of fun content. Some of my favorite sections were the car games, lighting fires, using dutch ovens, 99 ways to use a thermos, the section on averting camping crisis, camp cookery list, and the packing list.

I looked through the recipes, and they all seeming great options for camping. I am looking forward to trying some on my next camping trip. The Forest Fondue was, in my opinion, the most clever recipe. Of course, the s’more wasn’t forgotten, and there is a chart featuring different types. This book would make a good gift for someone who is going on their first camping trip.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an unbiased review.

This cookbook deserves all of the stars. Whilst it might not service those intense hikers along the Appalachian trail, this book will do well for everyone else - the casual hikers, the family car road trippers, the weekend glampers with dog in tow, etc. And it really goes above and beyond. It helps you plan your trip. It helps you pack your stuff. It helps you take precaution - de-skunkifier recipe for your pooch, even! And the recipes themselves were massively thorough and just plain delightful. There's Gorp and there's S'mores for sure but the book gives you 10 varieties of each. It's a little odd to me that breakfast comes last but that's honestly splitting hairs here on a completely fabulous cookbook. I want to buy a hard copy for myself and that's saying A LOT.

Much more than a cookbook, this is a fantastic resource for a camper at any experience level. This book covers everything from how to pack your cooler, building a fire, and cooking with coals to recipes like cinnamon rolls and egg sandwiches. For those who, like me, aren’t into campfire cooking much past hot dogs and s’mores, there are several trail mix and cocktail recipes to choose from.
I wish I had had this book for my very first camping trip but you can be sure it will be with me on the next one.

I'm just gonna say it. "Party under the stars!!!"

First off, I LOVE how they designed each chapter on the contents page…what FUN!!!

This books starts off with scoping your campsite, basic essentials, smart packing, and much much MORE  short and to the point pre-camping planning! There are some really important packing tips going on this book that I wouldn't leave home to camp without…especially the suggested tools and the WHY's they are suggested!

CAR GAMES…CAMPFIRE GAMES….Yep..it's all in here! They also have some great info about camping with your canine AND little kids!

You just cannot go wrong or mess up your camping experience when you've got a book like this one! (THANK YOU!!!)

As for the recipes….

OMG….EVERYTHING LOOKS SOOOOOOOOO YUMMYYYYYY!!!! I'm seeing Dutch Oven Roast Chicken, Chile Five Ways, Pudgie Pies, Pizza....and they include instructions on how to PRE prepare many of these recipes! There are SO MANY amazing looking recipes that I can't even fit into this review!

What? Not ready for camping in the GREAT outdoors at a real campsite just yet? Find out how to camp in your own backyard…yes-also in this book!

Well…I'm off to practice some camping! (hehe)

I'm going to stop here...although, just a heads up, there are a few extra fun surprise chapters also included in this book for the reader to enjoy that I did not share here! This book is extremely thorough and very inspiring, especially for a beginner camper like me...and I'll admit...this cookbook almost made me cry. YES, real tears...of JOY!!!

An absolute treat - I read it cover to cover! It's funny how quickly we can forget those childhood joys of cooking, relaxing and sharing stories around a campfire, but this brought all kinds of memories roaring back. I can't wait to put these recipes to good use, both at a campout and on my backyard grill. Now, where did I put those marshmallow roasting sticks?!

A lovely book filled with inventive recipes that could be used while camping or adapted for indoor use (which this reviewer intends on doing) and chock full of useful information. Full of information about camping, ways to pass time, tips and tricks for cooking outdoors, and even a skinny dipping method meant to ensure fun and safety. As a frequent cook I appreciate the well written recipes but also the numerous flavor combinations they offer up for different meals that spark the imagination. All around a solid cookbook that I'm excited to use time and time again.
