From The Farmhouse Kitchen is a collection of fresh, straight from the farm, recipes and tips. It is categorized by season, so that it's easier for the reader to obtain the ingredients that are currently available to buy from their local farmers markets. This is really convenient for the reader, and ensures the freshest ingredients.

The book is co-written by a mother/daughter pair and they let you know who is providing the recipe (Carol or Dawn). The book also provides tips on cooking and the duo shares stories of their experiences working on a farm.

I plan to try some of these recipes and share them with my family. I'm always looking for the purest, freshest food to feed my family and this book provides that and more.

I had some trouble with the formatting (in Kindle), but it may have worked better with a different e-reader. I couldn't see any of the pictures, but there was space for them, and I'm sure they were beautiful. The recipes themselves are simple, but nutritionally balanced and hearty. There are Bible verses, stories and anecdotes, and (my favorite part) helpful household / kitchen hints!

From the Farmhouse Table is filled to the brim with simple farm to table recipes that all sound mouthwateringly delicious. I plan to try several, and one that immediately caught my eye was the Kale Apple Salad with Apple Cider Vinaigrette. My favorite aspect of the book was that the recipes are divided by seasons, which makes the best sense for fresh farm to table recipes. Helpful hints and cooking tips are included throughout, as well as spiritual references (the family is Mennonite). The book has plenty of narrative to read along with the recipes, and I enjoyed looking through this and marking recipes to try in the future.

Thanks to the authors, publisher, and Netgalley, for the complimentary copy.
