This book was very informative and it really helped me to understand my natural, kinky curly hair. I am very glad I was able to review this book Hair Therapy is good for any and everyone with natural coils like me. I love learning new ways to take care of my hair and hair care tips that actually work. #HairTherapy is a jewel it os very well written and easy to understand. Thanks #NetGalley

This book was very basic. Information that I have read a million times before. Nothing new. I suppose it would be interesting to someone who has never dealt with natural hair and all that it requires, but it didn't offer much for me...disappointing.

Representation matters in society. Over the past decade, I have watched the amount of African Americans in the media in positions that I could not have invisioned as a little girl growing up in Oklahoma. These role models exists, I just never saw them, therefore I never knew I could be them. The only type of "black hair" I saw growing up was relaxed and straight, which confused me when I got out of the shower and when I would straighten my hair, it was still curly. If a book like "Hair Therapy" existed when I was growing up, I would have embraced my natural texture earlier. The title did not lie - Tiffany Anderson gives affirmations about owning your natural hair and blocking out the negative terms used against African American like "nappy" or "kinky". It's truly a therapy session. In her book, Anderson goes into painstaking detail about the natural hair process, from how to ease into having natural hair to how to keep your scalp healthy, among other helpful tips. I wish it was written as more straight foward guide with tips about different hair styles you could do with your hair, maybe included pictures, but overall a solid book.

That book just wasn't enough of what I expected, maybe I just expected too much.

Just another book. Just more stuff for me to try and not be successful with.

I've been on a bit of a natural hair journey recently, and my biggest struggle has been figuring out what exactly to do with it. This book concisely and effectively armed me with some tools to make managing my tightly curled hair a bit easier.

Not what I thought it would be. It read more like a story than teaching you. I thought this would be a good book to help me and my girls learn to care for our natural and transitioning hair.

This book felt very self-made, I think if it would have had better formatting and photos it would have made the book a whole lot better. I do like the cover though :D

The author gives solid basic advice and examples. Thanks to Wahida Publishing for an ARC of this book via NetGalley.

This may be a good manual for those who have recently gone natural and aren't sure how to care for their hair. It includes advice on building healthy hair care regimens and finding the best products for your hair texture. The author is not only very knowledgeable about the subject of hair care, she is passionate and it shows in her writing. I like that the advice given by her is straight to the point and easy to understand. But sometimes I did find the tone to be a bit "preachy."

There is a section in which the author advises that readers shouldn't listen to youtubers who give hair care advice. But there are many youtubers who speak candidly about hair care just as the author does and they share a wealth of information as well.

Prior to reading this manual, I've read quite a few others along the same vein, so I can't say this book gave me any new take-aways (well other than paying attention to your hair's texture rather than "type"). However, I do feel like it's worth the read, especially if the reader has never read a book about natural hair care.

I misread the blurb for this book and assumed it would cover caring for all hair types, but actually is aimed at those with afro-textured hair. The writer goes into a lot of detail about her own hair journey, and covers a huge range of tips for caring for the hair and lots of to dos and not to dos. A good resource for anyone with such hair type, the only reason I only awarded three stars is because some of the writing in places feels rather amateur.

I was drawn to this book because I wanted tips on how to nurture strong and healthy natural hair. The author provides her experience and expertise on this and more clearly providing the do's and don'ts of hair care in a friendly way. Her writing tone is conversational and friendly. If there's something I learned that was totally new to me, it's the fact that there is no such thing as hair type, but rather it's hair texture. Yes, and given that I've been calling my hair 'kinky' for years, it's good to know that such a label does not do justice to the beauty that's my hair.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc.
