I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Gah, this book made me cry. This ending was gutwrenching and I feel so many emotions right now. I cant remember the last time I was this immersed in a story where I feel everything the characters are feeling.

Alex is such an amazing character. An amazing woman. She had gone through so much. So. Much. And yet she is pushing herself harder every day. She is determined to win. Seeing her so defeated at the end of this book was so devastating and really got me emotional.

I was gutted because I have been in this world for the past 4 days straight. Did i think everyone was going to make it out alive? Of course not but that's not going to stop me from crying my eyes out when it happens.

I 1,000% will be recommending this series to everyone I know because I need other people to go through these intense emotions with me!

This series is an incredibly popular book series by Lynette Noni, a well-loved Australian author who has only become more popular since the release of the Akarnae series. I started with Akarnae and wasn't sure what to expect. The blurb gives more of a middle-grade feel and it did seem to be on the younger end of the Young Adult spectrum but I didn't mind that. I loved the magical world-building throughout the series and I felt like I had jumped into a book by Enid Blyton called The Enchanted Wood. Whilst of course Noni has created her own unique world, I loved the way it was able to remind me of childhood fantasy books and create that sense of nostalgia. There isn't much romance in the first novel whatsoever, so if you like some sort of romance (even a tiny bit) in your fantasy novels, then this one might be a teeny bit disappointing in this way. However, a series this long can create this throughout the series. The world-building, plot and especially the character development is well done in this series and in Graevale and I recommend you giving it a go.

Gave this to my younger brother who is obsessed with the series! He absolutely adored it. He doesn't want to write a review because he's shy, but he said he doesn't understand how a series can be so well-written. He doesn't usually like reading, but he was so attached to these characters and this world and the plot that this final book had him (and a quote) "HEARTBROKEN AND SHOOK BUT ALSO HAPPY". He gave it five out of five stars!

I am planning on starting the series soon and will post my own review when I get to the final book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending an ARC - my brother was so happy when I gave it to him, he almost cried.

My main thought while reading this book was : "Why do I keep getting attached to the characters that end up dying???" Hurts my soul every time.
So this is still a great saga but I reaally want to find out what's next!

Anyone who has made it this far with the Medoran Chronicles series will not need to hear my nitpicky opinion about what these books get wrong, especially when they always get other things so right.

This installment finds Alex Jennings juggling even more than ever, with her classes at school, her secret training sessions with one ally, and her secret training sessions with another! Plus, her oft-perilous travels all around the lands lobbying for political alliances against a common world-destroying foe, a fledgling romance, and ever-important friendships to maintain. If Alex were a real person, she'd be dead of exhaustion. Lucky for us, she only exists in these books where we can get lost in the adventure, and be inspired by her determination and Girl Power. (I'm not going to talk about a certain character death, other than to say: so painful, but so oddly fitting!)

There were a few things central to the previous installment which fell by the wayside this time, but hopefully that's by design and they'll be picked up again in the next, concluding book.

Such an incredible #LoveOzYA series. Adventurous, imaginative and superbly written.
Lynette Noni is a superstar!

Book four in the Medoran Chronicles has us back with Alex in the present sharing what happened with her friends. In the rest of this series up to this point, there’s an emphasis on the relationship between Alex and her school friends, but in this installment so much of that has changed now that the stakes have been raised. It’s hard to believe that a character that is so young can be so relatable and brave, but this story just gets better each time. Anytime a book can make me feel emotions so high that I have to try hard not to cry in public is a pretty incredible story. Hopefully the last book comes out soon because I don’t know how long I can wait!

There used to be an option to send notes to the publisher, but it's not there anymore, so I'm going to include it here. Please, please, please, don't offer these badly converted pdf files as a kindle version. It makes me want to puke.

This might be a fantastic book, but I didn't read it because the above mentioned thing. Netgalley forces me to rate the book, so it's going to be 1 star, but please understand, this doesn't reflect the book itself, only the technical problems with it.

I recently finished Draekora and I am delighted to see that this book starts right where we ended!
War is on the horizon and allies are hard to find! Alex is searching for help and letting the realms know that Aven is on the march they are in his sights! Not all of these endeavors ended well, and some were boring but so worth it! Alex learns some valuable lessons along the way.
I am still loving the characters and world building in this installment of the series. The new characters were fantastic too and added in just where they were needed like Soraya. The pace of this novel is fast and so many things happen that you will find yourself bracing the edges of your seat and begging for the fifth book immediately.

Haunted by an unspeakable vision of the future, Alex and her friends set out to warn the mortal races. But making allies out of ancient enemies proves difficult.
With her nights spent deep in the Library under the guidance of a mysterious new mentor, Alex is desperate to strengthen her gift and keep all those she loves safe. Because in a world where nothing is certain, she is sure of only one thing:
Aven is coming.

Wow, WOOOOWWWW !!! I need the next book now. Lynette Noni has an amazing way of telling a story that leave you hooked right from the start. This book was amazing from start to finish and left me crying like a baby at the end like what was happening in the book was happening to me personally.

I can't really say much about this book without spoiling it and it should not be spoilt but I will say the character development, world building and story telling is all amazing. I loved the added romance to this book so much and I felt like it really worked well with the story. I also loved seeing more of the land and other species coming into play. The last thing I will say is I loved being back at the school with her friends. I really missed them in the last book.

This was a 5 out of 5 star read for me and it was my favourite book in the series so far even though I have loved every single one and I can't wait till the next book is out (Lynette if you see this please I need a copy now:) ). A must read for sure.

omg this series! even though some time happens between reading each book I can easily jump right back into it. This book was no exception. I love the world building and the different people and creatures. I almost want more of it. This book also made me sob like a baby I wont say why though, no spoilers. But mannnnn that sucked. I'm also really excited for the next one its gunna be so cool! can't wait to see how that plays out

A well done fourth book. I liked the characters and the plot. I enjoyed the writing style. It's definitely an entertaining novel.

This book is like a roller-coaster. Emotionally, it grabs you. I am very unhappy about what happened in this book even if it does move the plot forward. Looking forward to the upcoming books.

This is easily my favorite book of the series so far.

Really, when I compare Akarnae, the first book in this series, to Graevale, I wouldn't have thought they were from the same author, let alone in the same series. Graevale is just so much better in nearly every way imaginable. The characters have a lot more depth now, the plot is much more complicated, and our villain is more threatening than ever.

There are some things I miss from Akarnae and Raelia that I understand couldn't have really been included but I still miss them nonetheless. One of which being the whole magic school aspect, which is basically non-existent throughout this book even though she is attending classes and going to school, they're almost after thoughts and solely mentioned once or twice. Something else I miss from the first two books in this series is the friendship elements, while we do see Alex's friends from the first book, there's little interaction with them as a whole, in favor of new or side characters, so everyone else is kind of pushed to the side a bit.

Instead, this whole book is just focused on building up the world of Medora, along with the other species and their particular abilities. Which I didn't hate, I just wasn't impressed by how one-dimensional all of these different governments and people were. There was nothing complex about any of their politics, nor was there any real depth added to the world. It was all just very bland, especially after seeing how Meya was made a bit more dynamic in the last novel.

This book, however, left me an emotional wreck by the end, while also making me question how I will survive a whole year without reading the next book (a con to binging a series), and if reading We Three Heroes (A companion? A spin-off? Who knows?) will even come close to filling that hole while I wait.

This being the second-to-last book in the series (which hurts my heart a bit, not gonna lie) I feel like all of our characters are motivated and ready to fight, and I can't wait to see how everything plays out.

This series is still going strong. This is book number 4 so if you haven't read the first three look no further and go back to read the others. I liked this latest installment, we got back to "present day" and Alex is gearing up to defeat Aven. There's a lot of wax on and wax off with her teachers, and a lot of it is things to prep for meeting Aven in battle. We see a little less of D.C., Bear, and Jordan but it kind of works for the book. And we finally get more than a snippet of Kaiden, and my my does he not disappoint. The time frame of the book feels a little forced- I think it only covers a few weeks but I could be wrong and it doesn't really detract from the book either so all in all I can get over it. However, there are some emotional blows in this one so be prepared!! And of course the book ends on gearing up for the another adventure. Here's to hoping that the next book comes out soon!

Yessssss! This series has become one of my favorites of all time. I am so invested in these characters, that there could be 50 books and I would read them all. This was a great installment in the series, and really brought the reader back into the action after the third book (which was also good just not as good as the rest). The plot twist in this one were great, and every chapter kept me wanting more and more. Only thing I am mad at is the fact that I have to wait for another book.
