When I saw Courtney was writing a psychological thriller, I knew I had to have it. And WOW! She did not disappoint!

I thought I knew him.
He thought he knew me.
We were both wrong.

I knew this book would hit close to home in some aspects and it truly did. Go in blind, don’t read any spoilers… just read that blurb and you will be captivated from the very first page!

My emotions ran the gamut… I was hurt, I felt betrayed and broken, I felt pissed off then astounded and really f’ing surprised. I can’t tell you why other than to say READ THE BOOK!

Here is what I will say…
1. I was like her asking all the questions
2. He was like him, wanting her to be me, saying and apologizing in all the same ways
3. She was like her… the master manipulator…totally conniving, heartless, and twisted
4. God did it hurt
5. Yes, the easy way out would have been to leave
6. But you stay and in the end, you turn out even BETTER THAN BEFORE and while you always remember, it won’t be as painful because you have moved forward

This will all make sense after you read the book… just WOW! DO IT! It is so damn good, so suspenseful and will keep you on the edge of your seat til the very last page.

Readers who like different stories, that get you all tied up in knots and crazy trying to read quickly to get all the answers will LOVE this book!!! I can’t wait to do a re-read.

Courtney, I am looking forward to reading more psychological thrillers from you—well done!

I don't know where to start with "Such Dark Things". This book was so thrilling and had enough suspense to keep me reading the book!!

Jude and Corinne were sweethearts and had a special kind of love. There were things that made them the perfect couple but there were also things that made them an everyday couple.

Corinne was a doctor who lived for her job. She enjoyed taking care of people and loved the people she worked with but her work life was taking over her personal life. She has demons that were pushed away so she would never have to deal. Corinne was lost in herself and because of that she never gave Jude the time he deserved. Jude was also a doctor and he LOVED his wife but the demons she had was weighing down on him and things changed.

This book gave me a lot to think about...the who, the what, the how, the why!! There were things that I could not imagine happening and the reason behind it. I am very happy to have had the chance to read this book and get to know there characters. The end and out of this relationship...the why she struggled to keep things buried and once everything came out how she handled things.

I recommend this book for everyone to read!!

Such dark things is masterpiece full of suspense and intrigue. What a psychological thriller! It was amazing.  I was immediately captivated. I haven’t read one in awhile that has been such an emotional roller coaster ride. The blurb caught my attention, but I never expected what I read. Courtney Evans Tate aka (Courtney Cole) will blow your mind. She has a way of twisting your mind. Corrine and Jude have been married for a long time. Corrine is an ER doctor who works long hours, and ultimately, she sometimes doesn’t come home. Jude is a therapist who loves his wife. They spend what time they can with each other, but when temptation strikes, do they take the chance or walk away? At what price are they willing to pay? Would they sell their souls? Would they be lured into the lions den? This book goes back in fourth between past and present. Corrine has blocked out out memories from her past that will set her free in her future. I really highly recommend this book. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

I have been a fan of Courtney Cole's earlier work and loved her edgy series Nocte, so when she messaged saying she had a new one out under a different pen name. I jumped at the chance to read it as it sounded like something up my alley. It starts off with Corrine Cabot who is a doctor ending up in a psych ward with the idea that she tried to kill herself. The thing is that Corrine is a medical doctor and knows the "real" way to kill herself if she wanted and nothing is adding up for her. Is she going crazy like her father who is in jail for killing his mistress and her husband? I have to admit this book in parts made me angry especially the fact where Corrine loved her husband Jude and though she worked for heaps and they didn't get to see each other. He starts having a guilty affair with Zoe - a young new waitress. I was like seriously Jude, go home and tell your wife how you feel, don't just have an affair or cheat on your wife. Corrine doesn't deserve him, especially when they all try to make Corrine seem like she is truly paranoid. About 3/4 through the novel, I was getting very frustrated with the characters and had an idea of what had happened to Corrine. As I was 3/4 the way through, I had to keep reading through, and I pushed my way through to the end. The ending, I was in two minds about as I know if you put yourself in the situation or have been in a situation where someone has cheated on you, it does make it harder if you are going to try and fix the relationship as the trust has disappeared.Speaking from personal experience their will always be a niggle in the back of your mind when things start to lag, or something doesn't feel right, you have the "what if" scenarios running through your head all the time.

When I heard that Courtney Cole was writing a psychological thriller, I was all in. The I read the blurb, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one.

Such Dark Things is a twisted thriller with a bit of romance added in. There are some situations that appear in this book that those who read Courtney Cole's other books may not be able to handle in this book. It's why she chose to publish this under a pen name. So please keep that in mind if you decide to read this.

This book hooked me from the start. It's told from two POVs - Jude and Corrine's. They are a married couple; he's a psychologist and she's an ER doctor. And it's from the both the past and present with the past leading up to the present.

Seventeen years ago on Halloween, Corrine witnessed her father kill two people but she remembers nothing about that night except standing next to the two dead bodies. Her father is serving time in prison for the murders and she's been fighting demons from that night ever since.

Corrine is very dedicated to her job and spends alot of her time there. It also helps her from focusing on her nightmares that comes around this time of year. As Corrine is struggling to get a hold of her nightmares, she feels her husband is pulling away from her. Jude knows that Halloween is a very difficult time of the year for Corrine so he always gives her extra space to work through it. But he finds himself seeking out the attention of a younger woman. She gives him the attention that he's missing from Corrine. And once he makes that first mistake, she makes it impossible for him to stop.

Courtney throws a lot of twists and turns into this story. I really enjoyed watching how everything played out. Every single character is unique and plays a significant role. Jude's brother Michel, Corrine's sister Jackie and best friend Lucy are all intricate in Jude and Corrine's life.

Such Dark Things was riveting and captivating. While I did figure out a thing or two, I was still surprised by a few shocks that Courtney threw in and had my jaw dropping. I am really hoping that Courtney continues to write in this genre because she wrote one hell of an spellbinding read.

Suspenseful, unnerving, and darkly erotic!

Such Dark Things is an eerie, sultry thrill ride that takes you on a journey into the life of the overworked, scarred Dr. Corinne Cabot as she struggles to balance a high-pressure career, a marriage under strain, and the secrets and ghosts from her past that continually haunt her.

The prose is dark and tight. The characters are deceitful, overwhelmed, troubled, and at times despicable. And the plot told from multiple perspectives, uses a past/present style to unravel, piece-by-piece, an intense, gritty tale of manipulation, jealousy, abuse, infidelity, revenge, seduction, and murderous obsession.

Overall, Such Dark Things is a sinister, tension-packed, shocking tale with some explicit sexual imagery that delves into the complex relationship between a husband and wife and highlights the devastating and enduring emotional and psychological effects childhood trauma can have on its victims. It's riveting, disturbing, and undoubtedly hard to put down.

4.5 stars!!

Need a change of pace? This is it….a psychological romantic thriller. Such Dark Things by Courtney Evan Tate will have you clawing at the edge of your seat for more. For my reviews I typically have a couple of quotes for you, well this time you are out of luck….I was so engrossed over the past 2 days that I never stopped to highlight, I just couldn’t stop reading.

There is SO MUCH that I want to tell you, all of the things that I feel that you need to know, that you should know. But where can I even begin without giving anything away. It’s such an intricately woven story, you will need to pay attention to every…and I mean EVERY detail you are given. Pay attention to every clue that the characters give you to try and put the pieces together.

Hmmmmm, so how can I do this?

Let’s chat first about our leading characters, Jude and Corinne. He’s a therapist and she’s an ER doctor. They have been married for sometime and know each other so well. Corinne is struggling with demons from her past and Jude is struggling with the changes he is seeing in Corinne as she battles them. While I read I battled with who I sided with! They each try to validate their actions, why they do the things they choose. Sometimes I agreed and sometimes I didn’t, it was my own internal struggle.

Another person you are going to meet is Michel, Jude’s identical twin brother. He is a priest, but in a cool modern way. He was a buddy you could hang out with but also trust him with your deepest secrets.

There is also Lucy, Corinne’s confident at work, a nurse she has become friendly with the past year. Lucy is always there for Corinne to talk to and she helps her when she is down.

And lastly we have Zoe. The sexy young waitress. A temptress who is persistent. She wiggles her way into the lives of the others characters and all hell breaks loose. And now my lips are sealed….no more info from me!

You will not regret grabbing Such Dark Things, a psychological romantic thriller is JUST what you need, trust me!!!

When climbing the ladder to success, certain things in your personal life may get left behind. This is something that Corrine is facing in regards to her marriage. With the demands of the ER constantly pulling her away from home, Corrine’s husband Jude gets put on the back burner time and time again. After a decade of marriage, the two are finding that they are facing a disconnect that neither knows quite how to handle.

A dark storm is brewing around Corrine, leading her to have episodes that leave her unable to function. A cloud that comes like the sins from the past. Bringing with it memories that haunt Corinne, and lead her to think at times that she might just be losing her mind. As the night from Corinne’s past comes front and center, it only raises more questions about what happened that fateful and tragic night. Will Corinne find the answers she so desperately seeks?
Are you ready for a psychological thriller unlike any other? Get ready for the wild and compelling tale that Courtney Evan Tate will divulge in her newest novel. For those that do not know….Courtney Evan Tate is the pen name of author Courtney Cole. An amazing author in the romance genre, who now is flexing that umbrella to include thrillers.

This story unfolds over the course of about 17 years with time jumping between the present and the past. Corinne and Jude both tell this broken tale in their point of views. Leading readers to discover the differences in their perceptions and view point. With a tragedy from years ago holding court in Corinne’s memory, things blur between reality and fiction. A road block that must be overcome to get to the bottom of the details that fateful night.

While I am not always a fan of stories that jump back and forth between the past and present, I can honestly say it only added to the mystery in this story. A glimpse into the past that always leaves you wondering how it plays into the issues that Corinne and Jude are facing in their lives today. Some things you can predict, and others will leave you reeling as they unfold. Leading you on a journey of discovery that keeps you guessing right up until the end.

Some Dark Things was a roller coaster ride that kept me wondering what secrets were coming to light as I turned the pages. A chilling glimpse into a fateful Halloween that changed so many lives. A tragedy that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Revelations that will make you quickly realize nothing is as it seems.

First and foremost, this is not a Psychological Thriller. While it does hold the aspect of mind games, it is not a true suspense of the psych sense. If that is what you are looking for, I would strongly pass. This book definitely won't be for you.

I would classify this as an Erotic Thriller. Such Dark Things focuses on the downfall of a married couple. <spoiler>The H cheats on the W and the main parts of the story concentrates on this.</spoiler> And in between their downfall, we get the bits and pieces of the psychological aspect. This is where the story held my attention; although, I will say that I had half the story figured out rather quickly, so the suspense wasn't as strong as I would have liked it to be. I was fascinated by what happened to Corinne. Her mind was repressing some pretty bad stuff and it was quite intriguing trying to figure out why she was in a psychiatric facility, after having one hell of a mental breakdown.

To be honest, I was not overly impressed with Jude's character. His poor, poor pitiful me stance got on my last nerve. So much so, I skimmed through his chapters. His part in Corinne's breakdown really didn't endear me to him. Not to mention, I just wanted to know more about his wife and what the hell happened to her. It was frustrating, to say the least, to jump back into his mind after spending time with Co. Jude was the whole reason I would classify this book as an Erotic Thriller. The way Ms. Tate wrote his thoughts, actions, and detailed sexy times gave this book more of a carnal feel.

Such Darker Things is a bad book, as it isn't. There were just some things that really irked my enjoyment level. I love both Romance and Thrillers so the inclusion of intimate relations didn't bother me. I actually loved that it held both elements. My dislike leaned more towards the characters.

Any how, if you like Erotic Thrillers than this book is for you.

I started Such Dark Things on lunch while at work and when it was time to go back to work, the book kept calling to me. Picking back up at home, I thought the silly thoughts every reader has, "I'll just read a few chapters before bed." A few chapters turned into finishing the book at 2:45 a.m. The told myself, "I'll just stop when I hit the plot twist so my curiosity is satisfied." Yea, no. When I hit the twist and my shocked gasp and beating heart could be heard in the quiet darkness, I finally said eff sleep, I can't stop until I know how things end. Courtney knows how to screw with your mind in the BEST possible way. I'm convinced she sits at her computer, giggling, with all the ways she can mess with her readers' heads, hearts, and feelings lol. And that's why I continue to read her ;)

For me, this one was full of the unexpected, and things I thought I figured out turned into me knowing NOTHING! I loved seeing Corinne's real-life struggle to unlock the secrets of her past. It was honest and authentic. I loved Jude, even when I wanted to throat punch him, because he, too, was honest and real. After finishing, I was satisfied, but I'm a greedy reader and would love to see more of Corinne and Jude. Like where are they since I left them? What's new with them? How is life treating them? Have the demons from the past finally settled down? Such Dark Things was a jaw-dropper and I want more!

Such Dark Things
Courtney Evan Tate

Back in 1988 a little film called Fatal Attraction garnered five academy award nominations. A movie about a man whose short fling with a beautiful, successful woman goes really, really bad, it’s a cautionary tale of how one small mistake can have some very big consequences. In many ways, Such Dark Things is a millennial version of that dark story.

She remembers the blood. It was everywhere. But she doesn’t remember her father killing the people next door when she was just a teenager, even though she was there when it happened. In fact, Dr. Corrine Cabot seems to make a habit of forgetting unpleasant things. For example, right now she is in a psychiatric care facility because she can’t remember the night she tried to kill herself.

Jude, her husband, is a man with secrets. He’s afraid – or rather, practically certain – one of them caused Corrine’s breakdown. Every morning on his run, as he pounds out the miles, he tries to pound out a penance. What got them here? What turned a marriage of two beautiful, successful people into a place of anger and betrayal, where death seems to hover at the door? Was it stress? Jealousy?

The answer is something far more sinister. And far more dangerous than either of them can imagine.

We know from almost the very beginning that this is a story of how the past affects the present, but the author moves her narrative back and forth in the time line – from present day to a few months prior to years prior– to keep us guessing which part of the past plays into how and why things went wrong. It’s an effective tool in that it gives her a chance to resolve multiple issues while keeping the reader from getting bored or being able to guess what is happening/happened. But as effective as it is, it can’t hide the book’s, big flaw.

Before we go there though, let’s talk about what she gets right. Her pacing and storytelling are very smooth, and Jude, his brother Michael and Corrine are all three dimensional and nuanced characters. The author does a good job of creating her setting: the tools she uses to set it up aren’t obvious but to most middle-class people in the Western world, the setting will have a strong sense of familiarity. Her prose is easy to read, clear, concise and she uses it well to paint a portrait of lives gone incredibly right turning into lives gone incredibly wrong. The plot, however, leaves a little to be desired.

Because that’s where the big flaw comes in: the unbelievability factor. Corrine and Jude literally have it all: great looks, fascinating careers, comfortable finances, supportive family and friends. Aside from the fact that Corrine annually becomes an emotionally closed off workaholic during the weeks leading up to the anniversary of the murders, they have a great marriage. Still, I could understand why two wonderful young people would have a crack in their otherwise wedded bliss during that yearly, controlled meltdown. Jude is lonely, sick of being stuck waiting to have a family while Corrine works out her daddy issues and vulnerable to a sexy, flirtatious beauty who wants to give him the world. I can believe Corrine is neglectful, nervous and exhausted from fear of her disturbing memories and turns to people other than Jude for comfort. The author does a fantastic job on that setup. But as the details of the affair become known, I began to disengage a bit from the tale. There is a difference in being stalked by a psycho and being enamored with one. I could understand how Corrine and Jude might fall prey to the former but that one of them became captivated with the psycho, that I didn’t buy. Especially given how quickly the psychotic got really, really wrong.

Fortunately, that unbelievability factor does not destroy the tale. I still found myself completely interested in learning if Corrine ever regained her memories, and how she and Jude would disengage themselves from the crazy in their lives. But the disturbing images and deeply disquieting histories we are exposed to on the way to figuring everything out fail to hide the fact that the mystery within Such Dark Things is ultimately implausible. It’s an intriguing novel but its allure relies heavily on the train wreck factor: You know you shouldn’t look, but you just can’t help yourself.

Many thanks to Courtney Evan Tate and Netgalley for the Advance Digital copy of Such Dark Things. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Jude and Corinne seemingly have it all. But something sinister is brewing beneath the surface of their picture-perfect life. Corinne carries the baggage of something horrific from her eighteenth year that has haunted her ever since. But she doesn’t remember the details of what happened.

Coming to terms with the past and building a strong future isn’t in the cards for Jude and Corinne with the interference they face from outside forces.

Such Dark Things by Courtney Evan Tate is an exceptionally intense read. This is a book that, once I started reading, my entire world faded far into the background and I couldn’t put it down!

Ms. Tate has a flair for the dramatic and knows how to write a psychological thriller! There was no easing into the plot, it soared off the first page and never descended! I was hard-pressed to catch my breath between each page!

Tackling the subject of PTSD and Dissociative Disorder, which are often found in people who have experienced a life-altering trauma, is a vast undertaking. Ms. Tatee handled it expertly.

I highly recommend you pick up a copy of Such Dark Things by Courtney Evan Tate to find out IF their life is really what it seems!

I've been a fan of this author ever since she unpended my world with her NOCTE series. I didn't know which side was up, like being inside a churning cage. She has a knack of writing such psychologically twisted stories that'll make you question your realities around you. I distinctly remember walking around in a daze after Nocte, all thanks to my bestie -Laveda's recomnendation. I knew I had to jump at the chance of reading this book, as soon as she announced it.
And she doesn't dissappoint at all !!
The strongest steel is forged by the fires of hell. and to prove this adage, Courtney seats us in this book-capsule and takes us inside Dr. Corrine Cabot's mind. As the journey starts INSIDE Corrine's brain, we see that it's frozen, in a time space where she's just 18, standing in a pool of blood, her father standing by two dead bodies, and she holds him responsible for destruction of her family, his mistress Melanie's family and her own consciousness. I do believe her mind is comatose even if her body moves on inertia. Her thoughts are set in concrete shoes, unable to move.
a dissasociateive behaviour-You blocked out what your father did so long ago, and it stands to reason that your brain has developed that as a defense mechanism.
Jude, her husband is helpless in her suffering and her panic attacks and anxiety are triggering vicious nightmares. I can toatlly picture Corrine running through foggy moors of her past, trying to find a way out or make sense of the ominous shapes surrounding her.
The word building is so fantastic, you start doubting what is right in front of you, very much like Corrine & Jude. The mood is very tense & intense. I could feel my pulse thrumming, my heartbeat faster and eyes narrowing. Why are there holes in Corrine's mind? what would it take to fill them? what is this full picture?..aaaaaarghhh!!
It was so frustrating for ME, imagine the quandary of poor Corrine, who's forever just fingertips away from the truth.
I applaud Courtney's masterful endeavour to play mind games of this complex variety.
There are secondary characters who are of utmost importance in the story.
The catalyst is Zoe. She's a vixen, a delectable morsel of temptation, as if created by the devil himself in his own image. A powerful, alluring seductress, who's got her talons in Jude's libido and she's digging deeper and harder, Upping her game in every encounter
Zoe is a modern-day Jezebel. She’s showing me her goods on purpose and trying to make it seem innocent, and this all has the very real possibility of crossing a line.
The proverbial Angel and demon on the shoulders having a perpetual war of words tug at Jude's conscience, would be hysterical if not pathetic.
I indulge for just a second, then I push the images out of my head. It’s a fantasy. That’s all. I’m normal. I love my wife. I miss my wife. Corinne is my world.
Michel is another fabulous character, a priest and Jude's twin. He's the sane, sensible one who cares deeply for the couple . Many a times giving Jude a wollop on his head or holding Corrine's hand .
The story is TOTALLY unique and mindbending, meandering from unbelievable hallucinations to uncontrollable intentions. Jude is "Royally Fucked", if I want to be honest.
But WAIT!!! Nothing is what it seems at all, it's Courtney Cole book after all. So tighten your seat belts, Courtney-capsule will move at warp speed in side Corrine's mind, heart, soul and psyche and you'll be wondering if you're walking on earth or hanging from the sky.
A rush of adrenaline later, the fog clears and you'll be standing beside a grave.😭😭
Talk about UNEXPECTED ironies of God!!
Loved...Loved...Loved the book, you will too, I guarantee !

Two stars as a psychological thriller
Four stars as a romantic thriller

Such Dark Things is touted as a psychological thriller, and it is. Kind of. While the genre isn’t what I primarily read in, I do read a fair few psychological thrillers, and this book just didn’t quite fit in with them. There was a little too much concentration on the interpersonal relationships for it to be completely out of the realm of romance, which is fine for me, but if you’re looking for a true thriller, Such Dark Things just doesn’t quite meet the mark.

Such Dark Things is a standalone romantic thriller, in my opinion. There are plenty of psychological elements to it, but they tend to take on more of a supporting role to the other themes in the book. It is written in dual first-person perspective, with dueling timelines, narrated by Jude and Corinne.

The plot of this book had amazing potential. It had more secrets than I could imagine, more violence and fear than I would want to deal with in real life. Corinne’s cracks were so large you could feel all the soft gooey parts of her desperately trying to escape from her from the beginning of the book. In those first few chapters I had great hope for this book and, while it didn’t meet the expectations I had for it, I still quite enjoyed it; just for different reasons. Instead of appreciating how Ms. Tate got into my head and made me question every single thing I read, I loved watching how Corinne and Jude and their relationship deteriorated throughout the novel.

I had so looked forward to really getting into Corinne’s head and feeling the kind of crazy she was feeling. It’s that desperation I enjoy most about psychological thrillers, and I just didn’t quite get it in Such Dark Things. I would have loved the focus to be more Corinne’s devolution into supposed madness; I think it would have gone miles to sell this book as something beyond romance.

I’m of two minds when it comes to this book. It was an intriguing romance about fighting the pitfalls of neglecting your relationship and avoiding the traumas of your past. It excellently highlighted how easy it is for an outside entity to manipulate the dynamics of a marriage when that marriage isn’t well tended. And for all of that, I absolutely loved the book. However, it missed the mark for me as a psychological thriller. I just really would have loved to have seen more of Corinne’s descent without the added insight from Jude, as I think it made her point of view feel more sane since he also felt things weren’t completely normal all the time.

I wish this book had been a little more psychological and a little less about the interpersonal relationships. I think in highlighting how the people related to each other there were too many clues as to the ultimate reveal of the book and I had figured out what was going on by about a third of the way through the book. Had there been a little less focus on just one of the relationships in the book would have completely changed the tone of the novel and likely have prevented me from putting the pieces together as to what was really at play under the surface.

Courtney Evan Tate is a pen name for an author who originated in the world of romance. Those roots were evident in this novel. Between the detailed sex scenes and the focus on how the characters related to one another, the romance devices came through. The idea of this book was quite fascinating, and I do believe, with some focus and study of the world of psychological thrillers, Ms. Tate could have success in this genre, I’m just not sure if this book will resonate well with people who don’t read in both romance and thriller genres.

I’ve tried to write this review a few times and failed as this book had me in a twist. I just couldn’t get the words together so I guess I’ll have to give it a shot.

Told in the past and present we are told this story through the two main characters, a married couple, Corinne and Jude. Corrine is a busy ER doctor and Jude is a therapist who feels he’s not spending enough time with his wife.

This is a fast paced well told story full of suspense. There’s a lot going on and the twists and turns were brilliant. A fab read. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

My mind is blown!! What a great read. The whole time I had no idea which way we were going. No idea who was telling the truth. Nothing!!! It kept me on my toes, my mind going in all different directions at trying to figure this out. I have to be vague because it is so worth it when everything comes full circle in the end. I loved this book. This would have been so much fun if I buddy read with someone. I'm telling you my husband looked at me funny every time I was going on about this book. He just didn't get it and I needed someone to help me get it!! Thanks to Netgalley.

I thought this was okay book for the author's first dive in mystery. The last 75% of book really seemed rushed and a jumbled mess.

Well my goodness….Just closed the kindle on this psychological suspense novel. I’m still sitting here with my mouth wide open. What the heck did I just read?

Dr. Corinne Cabot-a over-worked, running on fumes, barely surviving as an ER doctor in an understaffed hospital in Chicago. Never getting a chance to leave at a decent hour, always trying to save the next person who comes through the door of the ER. Her marriage is suffering but it’s her coping mechanism after suffering through what she witnessed at a young age.

Mr. Cabot is a therapist, working normal hours and home each night to have dinner with himself. How many nights he’s thought how wonderful it would be to have his wife home to spend the evenings with. He understands she has had a rough life. But how much can a person take… This isn’t what he signed up for when he said through sickness, till death, I do.

The one constant in his life is the diner he goes to for the majority of his meals. They know him there, they know what he orders, they are on first name basis with him.

While I couldn’t put this book down, I at times wanted to smack both these characters upside the head. Knock some sense into each one of them. I understand no marriage is perfect, but… grow some balls and say NO. Better yet…don’t put yourself in the situation!

But….like I said, I couldn’t stop reading this one… The twists and turns and the got to figure this one out was pounding in my head. You are left turning the pages so quickly just so that you can have your answers. And boy do you get them!!!

In the end, it was a good book that had me guessing until the end!

Courtney Cole - writing as Courtney Evan Tate - has done it again with Such Dark Things.

Sometimes I need a darker read, a mind bender, one that will have me thinking WTF? as I turn the next page.

Jude and Corinne's story was full of heartbreak and sorrow and hope and just a few bunny boiler moments.

I am not going to lie, I wanted to nut punch Jude more than once, and slap that tramp Zoe from here to Sunday!

My heart hurt for Corinne so much. From her child hood to the present she has been in a mental whirl pool and I hated that people made her feel like she was going crazy.

There is more than one twist that had my head spinning. Days later and I am still wondering what did I just read.

Well played Ms Cole/Tate, well played.

I can't wait to see what she brings us next.
