It Must've Been the Mistletoe follows Adeline, a High School History Teacher who's single and lives all by herself! She doesn't plan on falling in love anytime soon and dreads going to her best friend's wedding alone, mainly because she's been trying to set her up with her brother in law to be, for quite some time. But, our dear William - the brother in law to be - loses his flight and ends up being absent from the wedding rehearsal. By the end of the night, Adeline meets Margaret, a sweet old woman who gives her a locket that will change her life forever! She goes to sleep, just to wake up and discover that she's in her house but, nothing is as it should've been!

First of all, I read this one during Christmas and I have to say that, it perfectly reflected on the season. Reading an actual book set in Christmas during Christmastime was so much fun and if you have this one on your TBR list, definitely try and read it then so that you can feel the holiday spirit! The story itself was very sweet and definitely romantic but, it took me a while to really get into it. The pace was pretty slow at the beginning but fortunately, it picked up after the first couple of chapters. I don't really go for books that have to do with any kind of time travel or set in both the present and the past because I genuinely don't enjoy them. I don't know why but, it's just one of those things I avoid when it comes to choosing what to read and what to stay away from. But, this one took me by surprise because it was quite entertaining and the premise of it was very interesting!

The writing was okay and I really enjoyed the characters' development throughout the book. Adeline was a great main heroine and her journey to falling in love when she leas expected or even wanted it. I really liked her, even though it took me a while to connect with her as a character, something that usually affects my reading experience. If you can't connect with the characters you're reading the story of, it makes it a bit difficult to actually wholeheartedly enjoy it. William was also a great love interest and their unlikely romance was very sweet and full of cute moments! Truth be told, I wasn't really mind blown by it because I couldn't relate to it but, it's perfect for fans of magical romances that lead to a happily ever after!

The secondary characters were probably as important as the main characters in the novel since they basically orchestrated the whole thing and I really enjoy books in which all the characters develop and help with how the plot progresses, regardless of how big their part in the story itself is. And even though I didn't fall in love with the book itself, I have to admit that it was a very quick and easy read, which easily got me into the holiday spirit. I obviously had some trouble with relating to the characters and really wish they'd been portrayed a bit more realistically, if that makes any sense! The premise of the book though was very impressive and managed to transport me to the past, without making it seem to obvious.

Overall, It Must've Been the Mistletoe was a very fun read, perfect for those of you looking for something to read in between intense love stories of battle and war, also known as Fantasy. I always read a couple of Fantasy novels and some light Contemporaries in between, just to prevent myself from being too overwhelmed!

A super Christmas romance with a twist.I just love L.P. Dover's books and while this was completely different to any of the others that I have read I did enjoy Adeline and William's story and the time travel aspect did not put me off a well written read

This is a sweet Christmas romance with a time twist back to the 1860’s. Adeline wants a love in her life like her grandparents. William returned to town to save his family’s business. When Adeline wakes up back in time she meets the man of her “dreams”. I’m not a big historical fan so this one sort of caught me by surprise.

It Must’ve Been the Mistletoe by L.P. Dover is a perfect, magical holiday romance! I’ve still got a smile on my face after finishing it!

The is the first year that I have read Christmas books, and this one is one of my favorites! Adeline is a high school history teacher, and she loves her job. It isn’t just a job for her; it’s her life. She loves history. As good as her life is, filled with a great family and good friends, she still hasn’t found true love. Her best friend is getting married, and she wants Adeline to meet his brother, Will.

Will is moving back to his hometown of Asheville, N.C. He worked hard in his family’s real estate business and has sacrificed his personal life to keep it successful. Leaving California, he is now looking forward to cutting back on work, enjoying life, and finds himself looking forward to meeting Adeline.

While at the wedding rehearsal, Adeline receives a special gift from the wedding planner, a locket. She loves it, but she has NO idea how this locket will change her life. This is where the story got very interesting. She finds herself back in the 1860s and falling in love with Will. I found myself falling in love with both of them too! Their romance is soooo sweet!

When the book returns back to the present time, I still had a lot of questions. I won’t go into them all because I don’t want to spoil anything, but I will say Dover brings the story full circle. The ending was PERFECT!!!!
Dover did a phenomenal job of capturing the magic of Christmas. I highly recommend reading if you are looking for a sweet, magical holiday read. If this doesn’t put you in the mood for Christmas, nothing will! The icing on the cake was the recipe for homemade biscuits at the end! YUM!!!

Well, I was not too sure about this book, but I was looking for something with a little Christmas magic and this was the perfect book! I LOVED it! It was better than I thought it would be, really a fantastic book! I really enjoyed Adeline and William and the throw back to the 1800's was kind of amazing to read because Adeline was who she was and William got her even in the 1800's. It was a fun book to read and see where it was going to go. Christmas is a time to reflect and really believe in miracles and the Christmas spirit. It was just what I needed this holiday season...... You need know when you will meet a Christmas Angel.

Christmas love story from Adeline and Wiliam. It is a bit unusual love story because there is some kind of time traveling and then remembering the past. I am not in history love stories they are not my cup of tea, and almost whole story happens in the past. Toward the end, it all comes back in present. Adelin and William are ok characters but is hard to really get to know them because we see them in two completely different environment-time, past and the present. Overnight can we say that William suddenly changes from overachiever into a guy that wants a commitment and family. Adeline stays more or the less the same she is funny and had in the past funny moments. When she comes back in to present although knowing that William is the same has difficulty to accept him. INteresting, different Christmas story.

History teacher, Adeline Hamilton is excited for her best friends wedding, she is maid of honour and is excited to meet William Blair who is flying in for his brother’s wedding. At the wedding rehearsal, Adeline is drawn to the mysterious wedding planner, Margaret, who believes in the Christmas magic of mistletoe.

That night, she finds herself waking up in an incredibly lucid and detailed dream set back in the 1800’s in the home of her great, great grand parents time. Her detailed knowledge of her family’s history fills in the details of her journey where she encounters the ancestor and namesake of William Blair and hopelessly falls in love with him. Once its time to return to present day how will she recover from the loss of her first true love and will he remember their dream?

Super fun Christmas story with a historic twist. Follow the story of Addeline and William falling in love in the 1800’s and then again in 2017. Just a little magic is involved.

I’d like to thank Books by L.P. Dover LLC and Netgalley for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read some of LP’s other work and this was a lot different than what she normally writes. I really loved this sweet take on a Christmas/historical romance. It’s perfect for the holiday season and perfect for those who like a cleaner more innocent read. I got really engrossed in the story and didn’t want to put it down. It was one of those “just one more chapters” kinds of books. I hope that L.P. continues to write more books like this in the future. It’s a winner!!

So adorable! I loved the time travel/dream angle. What fun! Can't wait to see what comes next.

This was an interesting book about a girl who time travels to the civil war era through a shared dream to connect with a man she was being set up with in the present day. A little confusing at first, but it was an okay read.

The time-travel aspect of this story was lovely. I really enjoyed Adeline’s journey and experiences. Yet it seems like a running them with me and this author that there is always something that throws a monkey wrench into my ratings of her stories.

I have been reading L.P. Dover’s Breakaway series and love the chemistry and heat she is able to infuse into her couples. My issues are with her attention to detail…or lack thereof. I have always wanted to read another book by her outside of that series to see if she just didn’t know hockey or if it’s a regular problem. I fear, after reading this story, it may be a regular problem.

This story, while quaint and heart-warming, presented me with inaccuracy after inaccuracy. As usual, there are some things I can overlook in a book…as long as it doesn’t take me out of the story and it’s not a repetitive issue. I’m not going to inundate you with all the incorrect details here, but there was one that was glaringly obvious given the name of this book. Mistletoe is NOT red, it is white. Yet we have a whole novel full of mentions of the red mistletoe. Ugh! If you’re going to write a story about mistletoe maybe you should Google an image of the true plant in order to make sure you’re describing it correctly.

On top of the numerous mistakes in details, and even timelines, the characters in this story laughed a LOT. More particularly, they giggled. Even the men. Apparently, the people of Asheville are very jolly! By half-way through the book it got to be very obnoxious.

I am so frustrated with this author. Mostly, because I can really see her potential. It is HUGE. Her storylines are always great concepts. In her steamier books (this one is very sweet) the chemistry is phenomenal. That shows me she has the chops to be a fantastic writer. But she either needs to start doing a bit of research for her stories or get some good beta readers who can put the brakes on when there are too many problems with the details in a book.

An interesting twist to time travel through a shared dream. So instead of meeting and falling in love in real time, they both do it through a dreamworld. The concept is fine, but seemed a little awkward in transition. I enjoyed it, and wanted to read through to the ending, but must confess to skimming a bit in the dreamworld. Might just be me, so if you like the post Civil War era, you would probably like this more than I did. Would recommend, as it has more positive than negative aspects.

Finding your soul mate is a dream Adeline Hamilton thought was just that … a dream. After several failed relationships, she realizes she’s not capable of falling in love. The only passion she’s ever had is teaching U.S. History at the local high school.

A week before Christmas, Adeline is all set for her best friend’s wedding, even though she dreads having to go to it alone. But when she’s given a Christmas wish that could change her future forever, she’s whisked away to the past, to a completely different place and time. It’s also when she meets him, William Blair, the man who steals her heart.

As their relationship grows, Adeline realizes that true love does exist. What she doesn’t know is that her wish can’t last forever, that soon she’ll have to leave the past behind. Will Adeline and William find their way back to each other? Or will their love have to stay where it all began . . . in 1865? With mistletoe and Christmas magic, anything’s possible.

Adeline is a bit frustrated with her family and friends. They keep wanting to set her up on dates and so far nothing has panned out. Sure, she wants to get married and have a family but striking out time and again gets frustrating after a while. Her best friend Jessica (who is getting married) now wants to set her up with her fiancé’s brother, Will, who is moving back to Asheville from California. She agrees but he ends up missing his flight so she doesn’t meet him at the wedding rehearsal dinner.

During the rehearsal dinner she speaks with the wedding planner, Margaret, who gives her her wedding gift from Jessica. It’s an antique locket with mistletoe inside. Adeline thinks it’s odd but Margaret assures her that mistletoe is magical.

When Adeline falls asleep that night she wakes up and is in 1865. Everyone thinks that she is Adeline-Jane. Since Adeline is a history buff she’s fascinated with everything but knows it’s all a dream. She meets William Blair while in 1865 and they fall in love. When Adeline awakens the next morning and meets Will, she finds he’s the same guy – only he doesn’t remember the “dream”.

This was a cute story. I liked the semi-magical aspect of it as we really didn’t know if Adeline was dreaming or if she had really been transported into 1865. Since she was supposed to be Adeline-Jane she met her (fifth) great-grandparents and she was thrilled. (In real life Adeline -Jane had died in a carriage accident on the way to visit.) The history part of the story, for Adeline was wonderful. I thought that Dover did a great job of showing us the time period and the lovely family traditions that the Hamilton family had.

Adeline and William’s relationship grew quickly which I thought was a bit strange, but Dover made it work. William loved that Adeline was different from the other women of 1865. When Adeline returns to present day and meets Will it’s hard for her as she fell in love with William and Will has no idea who she is. She also has no idea if he was the will in her “dream” or not. I liked how Dover worked things out between Will and Adeline and in the end they got their HEA.

Now my mind started going all over the place once I finished the book because of questions. In the dream that Adeline had she had given money to one of her great-grandmother’s servants to start her own dress shop. Of course the real Adeline-Jane never made it to the house for the visit so there would have been no one to give the servant money in real life. Of course when Adeline looked up the servant to see if she was real a newspaper showed her in front of the dress shop she purchased. If it was all a shared dream, and not real, how did the servant get the money? Gah! Things like this make me crazy! Lol

Despite that odd question I enjoyed the book and thought it was a lovely Christmas romance.

I picked up this book because it's the holiday season and I wanted something that was holiday themed! This book fit the bill and was a unique story which really put me in the holiday spirit. The Christmas Magic in this book was priceless.I loved how Adelaide was a teacher and knew her family history, so when she ends up in her family history, she knows who all of these people are. Meeting William in 1865 was something she never expected and Christmas magic is working! This story was so much fun and I loved watching Adelaide and William fall in love in 1865 and then reconnect back in the current day. This is a sweet love story, so if you are looking for a lot of heat, you won't find it here. It was a good holiday read.

Once again, LP Dover gives us a brilliant story. I think what I really loved about this story is the fact that it was a unique concept. Finding love and especially where Adeline did was stunning. Because of Dover's writing style, the pages just flow effortlessly and you find yourself totally engulfed in this world that she created. I loved Adeline and William together. This story gives you the warm and fuzzy feels all over. Another brilliant read from Dover!

A truly magical Christmas romance! Perfect for any age, historical romance lovers too. Sort of Scrooge meets his ghost of Christmas past but with a modern twist and a bit paranormal. Dover writes sexy stories, most recently hockey players, but this was a wonderful read far different from her usual books. For anyone curious, the heat level is very low with hand holding and a few kisses making this a very tame romance yet still powerful. I was excited to receive my copy through Netgalley.
