Couldn’t wait for this one! Loved it! Surrender is the latest installment of the King’s Brats series it is the story of Taylor and Brian, dealing with a devastating forest fire and their personal obstacles. I loved the cave scenes and the way they supported each other, Joan Johnston is a master storyteller. Can’t wait for the next installment of the King’s Brats series, Sullivan’s Promise

Surrender by Joan Johnston was a great read, it had everything! The Greyhawks and the Finns are known enemies that have neighboring ranches, the two owners have been enemies for years. This caused the 3 Greyhawk girls and the three Finns to take up the war and trick and tease each other, pull pranks and just be ornery-all six of them. This is the story of Taylor Greyhawk and Brian Finn.

After spending a brief time as boyfriend and girlfriend in high school, Taylor stays away from Brian Finn. She has gotten engaged 3 times and broke the engagements all three of them. Brian Finn got married, but has been divorced for a year, when this book takes place.

Brian is a smokejumper firefighter, it is his life. In the last year Taylor has flown a twin otter plane and has dropped smoke jumpers over many forest fires. They both have seen each other for the last year but neither one has made any overtures to talk to each other.

There is a bad fire raging over the mountains and forests and Taylor has to fly a bunch of smokejumpers over the fire and get them low enough to jump. They all make it out except Brian, and he refuses to jump and leave Taylor as both her engines have caught fire from a huge fire gust that hits her plane, and the plane is going to go down. Taylor has no parachute and does not want to risk Brian, she flies over the fire but he will not jump until she jumps with him with him using one parachute-his! As Taylor gets more freaked out, Brian grabs her and jumps out of the plane with her.

What follows is a absolutely grueling time for both of them, and they have so many things happen to them, have to ward off an animal attack and go underground to survive the fire, and they do not believe they will survive. They have hardly any food and water.

They finally make it back home after Brian's brother and Taylor's sister find them with no time to spare! They are both in bad shape, and neither knows if they will ever get back the love they lost.

Read this book and find out what happens, and see if there will be a second chance for love! I gave this book 5*****stars. I loved all the angst, the danger, the never ending plot twists and most of all the love these two characters have for each other.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my review. I found this book a riveting and intense story full of suspense and danger. Brian and Taylor knew each other as teenagers, but because of the feud between their families they were unable to remain together. Years later they find themselves in a dangerous situation and though they try to rekindle their romance, past hurt and their miscommunication and stubbornness keep them apart. The family dynamics play a big part in this story and it was interesting to read the side stories. A wonderful second chance romance with a great ending.

This is the third book in the King's Brats series. I read the first two and I think number three is just as good as the first two. This is the story of Taylor Grayhawk and Brian Flynn. Taylor is a pilot who drops smoke jumpers into forest fires and Brian is a smoke jumper. Taylor's plane develops trouble just after she completes a drop. The only other person on the plane is Brian. He decides the only way to save themselves is to make a tandem jump. They end up very close to the fire and the only way to get to cover is to seek shelter in a cave. Brian is is injured by a bear just before going into the cave and that injury provides the back drop to the book. They survive the cave, being caught in a severe thunder storm and Brian almost dying because of an infection in his leg. I don't want to say to much to give away the book. Taylor has a sister named Leah and she falls for Brian's brother Aiden. Quite a bit of their story is also told in this book. I love books by Joan Johnston. She makes you feel like you are a part of the story. I am looking forward to the next book.

Joan Johnson is a new-to-me author. I previously read the 4 book Bitter Creek Brides.

From the very first paragraph, I was instantly captivated with this story. I read in 2 sittings and was upset that I even had to put down. This author told this story in such a way that I felt like I was along for the ride. I don't want to say anything about the story line because I don't want to give anything away and I want you to enjoy every word of this book. It's a must read!

I received a copy through Netgalley, and this is my honest review.

Surrender, by Joan johnston is the first book that I have read by this author. It had me from the from the beginning. "Tag" (Taylor) and Brian grabbed me and kept me cheering for them throughout the story. I couldn't stop reading their story. It has suspense and romance and the great story keeps you guessing what will happen next. I definitely would recommend this book.

*I received a copy through Netgalley*

I started this book about a half hour before bed and stayed up to finish reading it because I couldn't put it down.

The first part of the book deals with Taylor and Brian trying to survive the elements while waiting to be rescued. Watching them them in survival mode let me into their characters and how it meshes and clashes with their inner thoughts. They are both strong willed and resourceful people and I waned to smack them both and tell them to talk to each other (particularly Brian)

There is a overarching plot dealing with a family feud.I enjoy reading about family drama so this worked for me.These people are very similar.

I have not read any of the other books in this series but had no trouble figuring out what was going on.Those that have read the previous books will probably get more out of this.

I highly recommend if you like a suspense element to your romance that deals with survival.

All I can say is Wow - this story takes you captive and doesn’t let you go until the end. All of Ms. Johnston’s stories in this series are well written, captivating and emotional, but this one is over the top. Very well written, descriptive, emotional, suspenseful, characters well developed, this is probably one of the best books I’ve read. Totally enjoyed the trip.

I DNF'd this book. So I can't say if I loved it or hated it. I do know that everything was solid: the characterization, the plot, the writing style.

I recieved this book from Netgalley and the publisher, and this is my honest review.

Thank you, Joan, for another great read!

Surrender follows Taylor Grayhawk and Brian Flynn’s fight for survival when Tag’s (Taylor) Twin Otter plane’s engines died as they were flying over a raging forest fire. They had to parachute tothe ground in the midst of the fire. During their fight for survival they rekindle their love of their teen years. Can they overcome their families objections this time?
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the latest Bitter Creek Novel, Surrender. As always, Joan continually gives us everything we want, fabulous details and atmosphere, memorable characters, a story that you wish would never end, and lots of tension and sensuality. She creates unforgettable subplots and leaves you wanting for more. I can’ wait for the continuation of the family saga in Sullivan’s Promise.

Smoke jumper Brian Flynn and pilot Taylor Grayhawk are trapped in a plane that is going down in the midst of a huge fire. Their only hope of survival is to jump from the plane. With little food, no means of communication and an injured Brian they take up residence in a cave. They have a 13-year past history and the close quarters will rekindle those old feelings. They will have to fight for survival not only for their lives but for any type of relationship due to this ongoing feud. Brian and Taylor are not the only ones fighting for a relationship that is difficult with this ongoing feud.

This has so much going on. There's romance, suspense, drama, angst, secrets and anger. It's a serious feud between two families, with a lot of twists and surprises. Brian can be coldhearted and rash, but he can also be sweet, caring, amusing and thoughtful. Taylor is insecure, stubborn, brave and determined. The rest of the characters are intense and emotionally charged. The storyline is intriguing and entertaining, and crazy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

Riveting
This was not a novel I would call entertaining or even say I enjoyed it. The word I would use instead would be riveting. I could not put it down. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. Would these two courageous people actually survive? And, if so, would they surrender to their need to love or revert to enemies, as dictated by family tradition?

What I liked:
- Overcoming adversity (at every turn)
- Their determination, courage and support of each other under adverse conditions
- Their extra-steamy love story, duh
- I can still remember what I learned about the survival tips shared, Rule of Three for example

What I didn’t care for:
- The Grayhawk sisters didn’t seem to support each other or share confidences, but the Flynn brothers appeared to have each other’s backs
- Took too long for their rescue for my liking

Nevertheless, I found I couldn’t put it down until I had finished, so I’ll be back for more.

Joan Johnston delivers again with another heart stopping, sexy, suspenseful, action packed read. I love all the Bitter Creek novels. Surrender has a sexy alpha male, and a kick ass heroine. All the tension and build up of repressed feelings between Taylor and Brian literally made me ache and not be able to put the book down! A must read, No Cliffhanger, Thanks Joan Johnston for another soul infusing read :)

I had not read a book by Ms Johnston in years and when given the opportunity, I decided to give this one a try
I suspect I will be in the minority , but this book just did not do it for me. Maybe because I haven’t read the entire series , but I found it exhausting.
The main story was about Taylor and Brian, old lovers who get connect temporarily after an airplane accident. They are offsprings of rivaling families. A sort of Hartfield/McCoy, or Capulet/Montague feud. Add to that at least 3 other sub-plots with the same theme and it felt more like a soap opera. The main theme of loving one from a rivaling family with an on again/off again relationship and all the drama that went with it.
All that said, I continue to value the talent and dedication of this author.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely personal.

As usual, Ms. Johnston's books never disappoint!! This one is no different and I thoroughly enjoyed and loved reading about Taylor and Brian's story. I love these continuing family saga stories that Joan Johnston does so well. They are easy to get lost in and I so look forward to the next one!

Once again Joan has delivered, this is a great book. It has twists and turns you don’t expect one minute you think you know what's going to happen and she goes in another direction. Taylor and Brian are totally suited to one another and I loved it. Cannot wait for the next book .

This book focuses on Taylor Grayhawk & Brian Flynn with a side dose of Vick (Taylor's twin) & Leah Grayhawk & Aiden. Taylor & Brian parachute out of the plane Taylor is flying (dropping off smoke jumpers to fight a wildfire), miraculously landing in a small clearing. Brian avoids a complete attack from a bear but does get his leg clawed. They find a cave & hole up there for a few days. They rekindle the love they had in high school but Taylor can't quite believe it's not just the situation. Then they move out of there in search of a stream & rescue. *SPOILER FROM HERE ON

They spend a couple of more days out in the wilderness with Brian getting worse from the infection in his leg. He's practically dead when Leah & Aiden come upon them & rescue them. This leads to a lot of macho acting from Brian (he doesn't want anyone to see him down, especially Taylor) & Taylor starts avoiding him because she's pregnant from their lovemaking while they were in the cave & she doesn't think he could really love her. He ends up becoming her "roommate" but she still doesn't tell him she's pregnant.
While their relationship is developing, Aiden & Leah's story seems to be getting set up fro the next book. Apparently they got married in Vegas but then Leah found out Aiden had a bet with Brian that he could get Leah to fall in love with him. He actually fell in love but she doesn't believe him. At the end, they are "dating" & Brian & Taylor get married.

I look forward to the next book!
