Paranormal romance is one of my favorite genres. The action-packed storylines and burning passion are unrealistic enough that readers won't be disappointed when they return to their own lives, yet believable enough that the suspension of disbelief is easy to be absorbed into. I've read a few of Jennifer Ashley's prior works and she never failed to disappoint. Well, that is, until now. While I liked Angus, his son Ciaran, and the female heroine Tamsin, I did not feel the chemistry throughout most of the book. There were a few passionate moments where I absolutely fell in love with Angus and Tamsin as a couple, and I adored the relationship between Tamsin and Ciaran, but I did not feel the pull between Angus and Tamsin until much later in the book, well after they actually get together. Also, Tamsin takes quite a few liberties with Ciaran than Angus (for the most part) completely ignores, such as Ciaran calling her mom so early on and Tamsin agreeing Ciaran can do something that Angus has already said no to. I felt like the three of them coming together as a family should have been more of a conversation or had a bigger "come to" moment between Tamsin and Angus. That said, I enjoyed the friendship between the shifters and how powerful Tamsin was as an individual character. A good read, just not as passionate as I would have expected.

After almost a decade of reading the over twenty titles in this series (I’m counting novellas here, too) at the conclusion of each story I always think “there’s no way she can top that one.”… and every single time Jennifer Ashley does just that.

Midnight Wolf brings us a new character in Tamsin (and what a character she is!), and an established favorite in Angus. And a few surprises as well. Once again the shifter bureau has made demands that leave no choice but to be carried out. They have Angus’ young son and he will do anything to get his cub back safe and sound. Yet this woman isn’t about to go quietly in the night and let herself be caught. No, Tamsin is smart, wily and actually quite perfect for this growly wolf… but he might have to be convinced. When it comes to a choice between Tamsin or his cub – well, there really is no choice in his mind.

I loved this couple both individually and together – but together they are a force to be reckoned with. Tamsin has no filter on her thoughts and speaks her mind without a care – often to the befuddlement of Angus and our enjoyment. There is danger here, old friends to catch up with, and new information to add to the lore of this shifter world. I completely enjoyed my time with the Shifters Unbound crew once again and would not hesitate to recommend this story and this amazing series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. I was captured by this magic once more and yes, I’m thinking that Midnight Wolf cannot be topped — until Tiger Striped comes out, then I’ll rethink that belief once again. I love this series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I’m not keen on reading a series out of order but the blurb for Midnight Wolf sounded super intriguing. The thought of a cute little fox shifter leading the big bad wolf on a merry chase was just too good to pass up and it claimed to be a standalone. I had no problem keeping up, and other than occasionally finding myself intrigued by couples whose stories had already been told, I never felt lost or like I missed anything.

Although there were some good things about Midnight Wolf, I had a tough time adjusting to a world where shifters were forced into submission by the humans. At some point in the past, the shifters were outed and rounded up into shifter towns where they aren’t allowed to roam freely or own any property. They also let themselves be put in collars that shock them when they may be thinking violent thoughts, and from what I can tell they let this happen willingly. This is not a world I enjoyed reading about, nor did it make a whole lot of sense to me. It also had more than a few holes. For instance, with the collars, which had some magic to them, why would they not add trackers? All that trouble to keep the shifters under their thumbs and they can’t track them? SMH.

Angus, the hero, felt like all the uncollared shifters should have done the safest thing by agreeing to get collared. The more he talked about how that was the sensible thing to do, the more I wanted to shake him. By agreeing to be collared, he put himself under the thumb of the shifter bureau who then kidnapped the one joy in his life, his son Ciaran, and blackmailed him into going after Tamsin. Even after that, he still insisted getting collared was the right choice. I did not get this at all.

Conversely, I really liked Tamsin. A rogue collarless shifter she went on the run rather than submit to being herded to a shifter town and collared like a dog. She was smart and an expert at staying under the radar. That is until she gets caught up in a situation and attracts the notice of a shifter bureau representative who wants to torture her for all her secrets and then dissect her since she’s a super rare fox shifter.

Some of the side characters definitely perked up my interests, especially Ben, the goblin. I so hope he gets his HEA. There was also a super cool sentient house. I wish the entire book could have been set there, such was my fascination with it. I also loved Dante and his half-fae mate who ran a traveling carnival.

As much as I liked Tamsin and some of the characters, I just couldn’t wrap my head around the world in which they lived. Mainly because I didn’t ever see shifters with their freedom-loving wild sides, willingly submitting to being treated like collared slaves. Midnight Wolf was well written and had some interesting characters and situations, which is what kept me reading, but this is not a series I see myself continuing with.

FINAL DECISION: I enjoyed this couple a great deal. Tamsin's personality perfectly fits her shifter animal and I loved how nimble and cute and sneaky she is. Angus is a wonderful father. I felt the romance was not as intense as I might have liked, but I felt these two found a comfortable relationship with one another.

THE STORY: Angus Murray is forced to hunt for a collarless shifter woman when his son is captured and held hostage. Angus is out to find Tamsin Calloway, a mysterious shifter who ran with Angus's crazy (and deceased brother) for a while. While Angus tries to be focused only on capturing and turning over Tamsin in order to get his son returned, the slippery and smart Tamsin wins Angus's admiration. Angus can't risk his son, but he doesn't want to sacrifice Tamsin either.

OPINION: I enjoyed this book because of the strength of the connection between Angus, Tamsin and Angus's son. Their relationship was sweet and I liked that. There was also a lot of humor in their interactions. Tamsin's zesty personality was a nice contrast with the often grumpy Angus. Tamsin seems irresponsible as the story begins, but we soon learn that while she is unattached, she is also serious about responsibilities.

The overarching story line here seemed somewhat insignificant and merely an excuse for Angus and Tamsin to go on the run together which leads to amusing adventures in a circus.

Tamsin is one of my favorite characters in the series now. She is amusing and clever and definitely feels like her shifter animal. She just made me smile especially as she brings Angus out of his shell.

I appreciated that Ashley made Angus's son a big part of the story since Tamsin will be a part of their family. The relationship between them felt natural and I could see Tamsin acting as mother without betraying all her fun personality.

My only complaint is that the relationship between Angus and Tamsin felt more comfortable than passionate attraction. I totally bought these two together, but I just wanted to feel a bit more in their romance.

WORTH MENTIONING: I was so excited that we get to see more of Tiger!

CONNECTED BOOKS: MIDNIGHT WOLF is the eleventh book in the Shifters Unbound series. The romance in this book is self-contained but there are overarching storylines for the series.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in order to prepare a review. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

I really enjoy this series and I have to admit this was one of my favorites since the first few books (which are still the best IMO). This book centers around Angus who has been ordered by the shifter bureau to track down an uncollared shifter (Tamsin). Naturally Angus wants nothing to do with this but they've taken his son and won't return him until he brings in Tamsin.

I really loved Angus and Tamsin together and thought it was a great pairing. The two have some definite opposite qualities but they just fit. Angus is a bit broody and quiet. He's also a bit shy in some regards although he loves his son with all his heart and has a big protective instinct. He thinks about things before acting and has a few very close friends he can count on. Tamsin on the other hand is a loner and impetuous. She never seems to sit still and quiet isn't a word you would ever use to describe her. I enjoyed watching Tamsin lead Angus on a merry chase as he tried to catch her and even once he had. The romance felt believable and not as rushed as some of the books in this series.

There was also plenty of action along the way and a few new characters. Some of my absolute favorite characters played a significant role in this one as well (Tiger, Ben and Xander). I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the sentient house plot but it's a minor quibble as it didn't play much of a role in this one. I thought the carnival was a great touch and of course Ciaran is an adorable cub. The overall plot didn't move forward much in this book although there was a bit of information about the creation of shifters that was fascinating and I enjoyed seeing the fae again. I really hope Ben's story is next!

Overall, a fun, action packed and heart warming romantic edition to the series.

The Delight
I have to admit, I have only read two books in this series. There was novella in the beginning and then I read book one before jumping to book eleven! I loved the heroine of this story. She was spunky and didn't take shit off of anyone. The hero was a little more stick up his ass kind of guy, but he also had a young son to look after. With the collars still being around, this lead to some interesting scenarios.

Review
We start off with a bang and it is a ride to the end. Angus is living a quiet life after the betrayal of his wife and brother, so when he is asked to hunt down a female shifter who was involved with his brother, he wants to say no. Unfortunately, the human agents have his young cub and won't give him back until he brings her in. Between a rock and a hard place, he hunts down the shifter, captures her....feels a lot of remorse, but hey, they have his cub ...and then all Hell breaks loose.

The Shifter Bureau is hell bent on capturing Tamsin. She has managed to stay just one step ahead. She has secrets that could end her life and secrets she doesn't know the meaning of and doesn't want to know. Spunky to the end, she doesn't let life keep her down and thrives on the adventure they are all thrown into.

Angus and Tamsin make a great couple and balance each other out as opposites. The cub is a delight as they travel with a carnival and meet up with characters I didn't know, but who must be from the series. I did see characters I do know, which gave me a connection I needed.

Overall, I never felt confused enough that I couldn't follow the story. It was action packed with an Alpha trying to control a woman who just wasn't made to be controlled. A delight of extra characters to love and cubs to snuggle with. A very fun read!

MIDNIGHT WOLF is the eleventh full-length novel in Jennifer Ashley’s contemporary, adult SHIFTERS UNBOUND paranormal/ fantasy romance series. This is lupine shifter/tracker Angus Murray, and Tamsin Calloway’s story line. MIDNIGHT WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order as there is a continuing arc focusing on the impending war with the Fae.

SOME BACKGROUND: Thousands of years in the past, the Fae created the shifters-a cross between beast and man-and in the ensuing time the Fae lost control and power over the battle creatures they had created for war. Approximately twenty years ago shifters were exposed to the human population. Out of fear, discrimination and specieism, the shifters were collared with Fae magic in the belief that it would control aggression; then they were forced into segregated communities known as Shiftertowns. There are several Shiftertowns located throughout America where shifters live in a relative but strained peace amongst their own kind.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tamsin and Angus) MIDNIGHT WOLF follows lupine shifter and tracker Angus Murray as he is forced by the Shifter Bureau to track an uncollared shifter of unknown origin. Enter Tamsin Calloway, a rogue, female shifter, and the woman with whom Angus will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Tamsin and Angus as our couple tries to stay one step ahead of the Shifter Bureau whose intent is to dissect and destroy our story line heroine.

Angus Murray is a single father, working as a bouncer when threats against his family force our hero to go on the hunt. With his cub in custody Angus has no choice but to do the Bureau’s bidding, as he searches for the rogue female he knows nothing about. Tamsin Calloway has spent most of her life on the run. Collar-less, and without support of any kind, Tamsin finds herself on the Bureau’s most wanted list for a series of crimes but none more so than the information she keeps secreted in her mind. Meeting Angus Murray never felt so right or so wrong including the maternal feelings that arose when she met Angus’s motherless cub.

The relationship between Angus and Tamsin is a forced friendship in order for our heroine to survive. Targeted by the Bureau, and thusly Angus Murray, Tamsin must succumb to her captor or find herself on the receiving end of imprisonment or worse. Falling in love was never on the agenda but a mate bond is claimed by Angus to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love. The $ex scenes are passionate but limited, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a very large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the return of Tiger and Carly, Ben, Zander and Rae, Dimitri and Jaycee, Dylan and Sean, as well as the introduction of bear shifter and carnival owner Dante, his mate Celene and their daughter Brina, and Angus’s son Ciaran. The requisite evil has many faces including several members of the Shifter Bureau.

The world building continues to focus on the potential war between the shifter and the Fae, but follows the ongoing discrimination of shifters: the laws to collar and control, as well as the segregation and Shiftertowns meant to isolate those deemed different.

MIDNIGHT WOLF is an exciting, detailed story line about trust and betrayal, family and friendship, fated mates and happily ever afters. The premise is thrilling and fascination; the characters are colorful, energetic and inspiring; the romance is intimate and animated. MIDNIGHT WOLF is a welcome addition to Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound- a cross-country journey as fated mates stay one step ahead of a potential take down and catastrophic danger to all involved.

Jennifer Ashley has created another fascinating shifter tale in her Shifters Unbound series. As usual with her books, her characters are strong and charismatic with fierce personalities that readers can’t help but become fascinated by as their stories unfold. Tamsin and Angus’s story starts off with lots of excitement and keeps an energetic and fast pace as their sizzling chemistry and rocky meeting keeps this couple on turbulent path full of smoldering passion, thrilling danger and shaky relationship.

Enemies of the shifters keep this couple on the run during this fast paced and exciting story where anticipation and suspense continuously build, keeping the readers on the edge of their seat and glued to the pages during some exhilarating twists and turns that ensure that readers want to find out what will happen next.

Jennifer Ashley’s Shifters Unbound series continuously astounds me with wonderful characters and a fascinating world. She brings it all to vibrant life and makes me feel as if I am a part of this world as I enjoy each and every couple’s story. I was so enthralled with Midnight Wolf that I ended up staying way past bedtime so that I could finish the book and find out if Tamsin and Angus got their happily ever after and just how everything worked out for them with the bad guys, of course now I am waiting impatiently for the next book, which I believe releases at the end of May.

Angus and Tamsin proved to be a fun couple on the run from the Bureau and shifters alike. Just when you think a storyline or trope has been overdone – a story is told with enough freshness to sweep you along for the ride. It fulfilled all my wants on a romance; A hateful villain, smoldering romance, favorite characters stepping in to help and an unexpected resolution to ensure the happily ever after. I had a good time reading this.

When Shifter Bureau approaches Angus Murray about tracking down a shifter causing them problems, he’s ready to tell them to shove off. But when it comes out that they’ve taken his young cub as collateral, he’ll do anything to ensure the safety of his son. Being an experienced tracker, Angus figures it’ll be a quick job.

Angus is in for a rude awakening when he actually comes upon Tamsin Calloway. The Shifter leads Angus on a pretty good chase, but when he manages to catch her, he begins to wonder what about her has caught Shifter Bureau’s eye. When Non-Collared Shifters also take an interest in Tamsin, Angus must make the ultimate decision to protect her or let her fend for herself.

This is the first book in the Shifters Unbound series that I’ve read. Beyond missing some of the nuances of the world-building, I think it stands on its own quite nicely. Jennifer Ashley doesn’t inundate with recaps so it’s kinda up to the reader to piece things together regarding the state of Shifter affairs in this world, which I didn’t find too difficult a task. I enjoyed many of the secondary characters and most were quite clearly main characters in their own book(s) once upon a time, and I’m very interested in going back and catching up.

I thought that the pairing of Angus and Tamsin was quite interesting. It didn’t go how normal shifter pairings/matings go. It lacks the intensity of the insta-love/lust in regular shifter pairings. Instead they come together, at first, more out of necessity and things build between them from there. I rather enjoyed this approach with their relationship.

The story itself is bookended by a really strong beginning and a strong ending. With that said, however, I felt like Midnight Wolf, suffered from a lack of momentum in the middle part of the story. Everything just kind of lagged and I started to wonder what the endgame was actually supposed to be. Our characters were in a stasis where even they don’t have any immediate plans. It took a little too long to discover the reason why Tamsin is garnering so much attention from both Shifters and Shifter Bureau. Once we learn the reason, things pick up again and give a pretty satisfying ending, but when I was in the middle of the story, oftentimes it was a chore to pick up the book again and trudge forward.

While tough to get through at times, I thought all the details surrounding the world within Midnight Wolf speaks well for the series itself. I’m definitely going to make reading earlier books a priority and look forward to getting the full stories on some of my favorite secondary characters.

Midnight Wolf by Jennifer Ashley can be read as a standalone although this is part of The Shifters Unbound series. Midnight Wolf features Angus Murray who we met in Red Wolf and he has been ordered to hunt down a wee female shifter. The stupid authorities that monitor shifters even stole his cub to force his hand and gain his help in getting him to do what they wanted. He didn’t expect Tamsin to completely change his life when he found her. He didn’t expect her to fit in with him yet she completely did and that rocked Angus’s world. Another thing is that Tamsin has connections to his family which complicates matters. So people want to know who she knows, when she knows it, how she knows it, etc… Angus and Tamsin make for a great couple and when you add in the great group of secondary characters which are set in a fabulous backdrop of places and people, this makes for a fantastic paranormal romance read.

My Rating: 4.7 stars *****

Love Jennifer Ashley's shifters! Each story gives us answers to the over arching story as well as a very satisfying romance HEA. Her stories are so well crafted!

We got to know Angus Murray, widowed black wolf in Red Wolf. He's the bouncer at the New Orleans shifter bar. He's very good at his job and manages to really care about the shifters who come there. His son has been kidnapped by the evil Jayson Haider of the Shifter Bureau to get him to use his tracking skills to find the very elusive Tamsin Calloway. She's an uncollared, unregistered shifter of unknown variety who find herself in the thick of movements to free shifters. Angus is furious over this tactic and sets out right away. He has little trouble tracking the slippery little lady with flaming red hair the smells not quite right. Turns out she's an extremely rare fox shifter and she's very hard to keep captive since her fox form is so small and quick and crafty. Angus' guardian-protector heart gets in his way of turning her over to the Shifter Bureau, but with the help of his friends Ben, a fae goblin we've all come to love, and Zander, the polar bear healer, they get his son back and help Tamsin get away once again. This story takes twists and turns resolving a way to get the shifter bureau off Tamsin's back so she can live her life in peace. Angus is vested in this plan as his heart is falling fast for Tamsin and get to the bottom of the plot his deceased mate and idiot brother got killed for.

We get to spend time with beloved recurring characters once again: Ben, Zander, Dimitri, the sentient house in New Orleans (oh how I've come to love that house), Lady Aisling and others. We make new friends in a traveling carnival, the uncollared bear Dante, his mate Celene a 1/2 fae and their daughter Brina. We even get to find out the origins of fox shifters in this story.

Thank you Jennifer for the ARC of this book for my honest review. I will always be glad to do this service.

Angus is a bouncer and collared shifter in New Orleans. He’s happy minding his own business until the Shifter Bureau comes in and threatens his cub/son. If he doesn’t capture a collar-less shifter, Tamsin, he will loose his cub.

Tamsin is wild, fun and completely spontaneous and nothing Angus has ever encountered. From the moment Angus sees Tamsin he is attracted but nothing, and I mean nothing will come between him and keeping his cub safe.

I completely loved Tamsin, she was a character you can form that special reader connection with. The relationship she, Angus and his cub is a slow but steady and believable build which was amazing.

There are some past character interactions, which if you know me, I loved. Can’t wait to see what happens with Ben… and boy, Zander, the tiger, popping back into the picture was simply delightful.

Midnight Wolf is a tantalizing shifter romance set in a well developed and complex shifter world. Great read and a great addition to the Shifter Unbound series.

I received this ARC copy of Midnight Wolf from Berkley Publishing Group. This is my honest and voluntary review. Midnight Wolf is set for publication April 24, 2018.

Midnight Wolf by Jennifer Ashley is the first Shifter book that I have read. I’m hooked. I am so happy that she has many books in the series so I can binge read. It is a little steamy than what I usually prefer, but that certainly does not detract from the rest of the book nor the 5 star rating it deserves.

Jennifer Ashley’s Shifter world is full of shifter groupies, (I would probably be one too), a house with a mind of its own, beings that shift into awesome creatures, love, and mating for life. This book has all that plus we get to see more of the Shifter Bureau, Angus who will do anything to save his cub, a new shifter? Possibly. If you love shifter stories, this book is for you. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read the book early. I am voluntarily reviewing the book.

What another great installment to the series. Midnight Wolf starts off with Angus being forced by the Shifter Bureau to track down a female shifter. They've been trying to get their hands on Tamsin, but she's always eluded their people. So, they kidnap Angus' cub and force him to use his tracking skills to bring in the woman. However, once he has her, he's not too keen on turning her over to the sadistic bastards and soon finds himself, Tamsin, and his cub on the run from not only the Shifter Bureau, but other shifters as well.

You'd think that given that they are shifters, their adventure to elude the authorities would be shifting into animal form and hiding out in hotels. Nope! Instead we get sentient houses, and a traveling carnival as their hideaways! I absolutely loved the crazy twists and turns the author wrote into the story. Plus, I am so happy that we got to see the sentient house again. Nothing cooler than a house that does what it wants, can hide itself from people, be completely impenetrable, and forcibly keep people in and/or out depending on the house's mood. So, I was definitely mentally cheering in my head when Angus brought Tamsin to the house.

Since they are on the run the entire book, there's a TON of action and suspense. From growly shifters with the arsenal to get their way, to the corrupt Shifter Bureau, these three were always looking over their shoulders, and planning three steps ahead. Not only were their lives on the line, but Angus' cub, Ciarian, was in danger, too. Which was something that both Angus and Tamsin took seriously. The bond that Tamsin and Ciarian had was pretty much immediate. Tamsin and Ciarian seemed to have this connection that you would expect from a mother and son. Tamsin obviously looked out for him and would comfort him when he was scared, and Ciarian was very protective of Tamsin. I'm honestly hoping that Ciarian gets his own story down the road. Perhaps with a certain shifter-fae girl he met while traveling with the carnival.

I obviously really enjoyed Midnight Wolf. The chemistry was hot (like usual), we got to meet new characters that livened up the party, there was enough suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat, and we got to see some old favorites as well. I loved getting to see Zander, Rae, Dimitri, Jaycee, Tiger, Ben, and even the Morrissey's. Even though this is the 11th book in the series, you can totally jump in at any time. I've actually been jumping around in the story quite a bit depending on the books I borrow from the library, the ones I find at second-hand book sales, and the review copies I get as new installments come out. I actually just finished reading Tiger's book (5th in the series), and was really excited when he popped up in this one since his story was still fresh in my mind. However, the author does a good job sort of filling in the blanks on the fact that he was created in a lab by humans and therefor a bit different from your average shifter.

I really enjoyed this story. I love all the various characters the author brings in, both giving us new characters to fall in love with as well bringing back some favorites. I also like that there's this massive "battle of the beasts" brewing between the shifters and the Fae. Not to mention the wonderful humans at the Shifter Bureau who feel like shifters are just animals to be dissected and tossed aside. There's just so much going on that this series has yet to get boring for me. Which is huge since I tend to get bored with a series by the third book. If you're in the market for a shifter romance, definitely pick up a book from this series.

It's been a while since I last visited this world and I see I missed a lot. That is not to say that you can't read Midnight Wolf as a standalone. No, Jennifer Ashley is really good at explaining prior events and facts about a fantasy world as you go and I never felt lost. That being said, I think the experience will be richer and deeper if you've read some of the previous books in the Shifters Unbound series. Plus, you'll just want to know what happened in the prior books.

The Shifters Unbound world is fascinating. Shifters are being treated as second class people at the best of times and animals at the worst. They wear collars that  send waves of pain through their bodies when they get so upset that violence is imminent. But there is a revolution going on, unbeknownst to mankind. One shiftertown in particular is rising against the oppression of humans - they secretly wear fake collars and prepare for insurgence.

Against this background we meet Angus, a wolf shifter whose brother tried the rebellion thing before and failed, leaving Angus with a bad reputation and without a mate because his brother took that away from him too. Now Shifter Bureau has his cub, blackmailing him into rounding up a collarless shifter who, he's been told, has been close to his late brother.

I loved Angus so much. A blushing alpha male is pretty unusual and it was adorable to see this growly, brooding, quiet wolf shifter getting a little flustered about Tamsin's boldness. He is immensely protective of his son, he is the reason Angus goes after Tamsin to begin with but he regrets soon that he has to hand over Tamsin to the Shifter Bureau. Angus doesn't trust easily but those who call him friend are loyal to a fault to  him because he reciprocates. Tamsin's crashes down his reservations in one fell swoop with her light and laughter.

Tamsin tasted joy in every second of her life, Angus realized. She was on the run, being hunted by Shifter Bureau , wanted in connection with Angus’s brother’s activities and more recently a murder, and yet she took time to find delight in a simple love song.

Tamsin is a handful. She's sassy, snarky and brave and gives Angus a run for his money. There is more to her than meets the eye but it's not only that she's one of a kind among shifters that attracts him. She inhales life, lives it to the fullest and finds joy in the smallest things. She loves to poke the wolf but it's all in good fun, she is never malicious. Where Angus views potentially dangerous situations from all angles, Tamsin jumps right into the brawl. You see, they are polar opposites but that's why they work so well.

“We belong together . I knew it when I saw you, kicking ass at poker and being all smug about it."

Ciaran, Angus's cub was so cute and precious! You could practically watch him fall in love with Tamsin as well.

I have no idea why it took me so long to go back to this rich PNR world - I really love spending my time there and I enjoyed Midnight Wolf and its main characters. I also loved seeing Dylan and Sean from the first couple of books again. I wonder who the next book will be about...but no matter. I have some catching up to do!

I recommend the Shifters Unbound series to those who love fast-paced, enjoyable PNR/Shapeshifter stories. I think you will fall in love with this universe and its characters.

Well this was a fun little side adventure. I like it when this series takes us away from the shifter towns for awhile. this series has a lot of books to it. Although you could read this as a stand alone, I think over all, you will understand the world building a bit more if you have read a few more of the books.

Hot, single dad, alpha wolf trying to protect his son. He also happens to have a hidden heart of gold behind that tough guy look. What he doesn't expect is Tamsin running into his life. Loved their whole journey together. Loved the circus folks, Tiger helping them out. And loved the overall assumption that these shifters are worthy of freedom and their rights have not been protected.

I always look for more from this author. Great book!

I've been reading this series for years, ever since that first book came out and I found myself hooked on these shifters. The shifters in this series are known to the humans but shifters are kept in shifter towns and they are all collared. Well, they're supposed to be collared so they can't fight. These collars are magically made and they give the shifters a serious shock if they fight. The collars are to keep them controlled since shifters have not been given the same rights as humans have. They are seen as lesser beings but some shifters are fighting back with fake collars so it looks like they are wearing them and they won't get in trouble.

Angus is sent to find the collarless female shifter and make her take a collar but she's not going along with this easily. Tamsin has been collarless her entire life and isn't about to just give herself over to the Shifter Bureau to be collared or maybe executed for what they thought she had done.

Angus didn't really want to be there chasing her but the Shifter Bureau didn't give him a choice. When he finally does catch up to her and has a chance to talk with her, she isn't at all what he expected.

They end up on the run and end up getting help from several other shifters. While Angus and Tamsin are hiding out from the Shifter Bureau and trying to figure out what to do next, they also get closer and he let's his guard down just enough to let her get close to him. I really liked how these two start out as enemies and slowly get closer after getting to know one another. It's a slow burn romance for sure but when they do finally come together, it's so hot and they slowly figure out how much they care for one another. She has a couple of secrets and waits until she knows she can trust Angus before letting him know what they are.

They enlist the help of their friends to deal with her secret all the while trying to hide from the crazy guy from the Shifter Bureau who wants nothing more than to cut her open and find out what makes her tick.

I had a lot of fun with this book. It's filled with shifters, a sentient house, a goblin and a being from another realm. it was hard to put down once I started reading but I've loved this entire series so far so I'm really not surprised that I ended up loving this book as well.

This book releases on April 24th. If you haven't started this series, I would highly recommend it.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Disclosure: I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed “Midnight Wolf.” Many of the other romance novels I’ve attempted to read lately through NetGalley have been disappointing & not worth finishing, but Ashley’s writing is fun & her characters are fleshed out nicely. I’ll happily recommend her series to readers looking for a good romance with just enough suspense & sweetness to satisfy.

I loved single dad and wolf shifter Angus Murray but fox shifter Tamsin Calloway made this story sing for me. She is chipper even when the world is going to hell in a handbasket she creates her own happiness. You can’t help but love her and neither can Angus.
A fantastic addition to this terrific series.
