I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.

Instantly interested in the opposites-attract trope and the premise alluded in the blurb, I dived in head first into this story. And while it won't make my "favorites" list, it was still an enjoyable read. The beginning dragged a bit and I had to talk myself into keep on reading, but thankfully the pace picked up and things started to fall into place for me. I was surprised to find myself laughing out loud at some of the bridezilla's antics and enjoying the palpable chemistry between Cameron and Jane. Sadly, their connection wasn't as obvious as I had hoped, which explains the 3 star rating. I just couldn't become invested in their romance. I did enjoy their steamy moments though and the wedding happenings were entertaining enough to keep me engaged. So I call that a win.

The grumpy one falls for the sunshine one. Jane is one of my favorite heroines and watching Cam fall is pure joy. Fans of wedding stories and geek culture will adore this book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read One and Only. Unfortunately, I did not download the book before it was archived in June 2018. I do not plan to finish the book.

I thought this was such a great introduction to this series! I adored the cosplaying heroine SO MUCH and this is maybe the pest portrayal I've ever seen of female friendships on page. Holiday is definitely becoming one of my favorite contemporary authors.

Freaking fantastic!

4.5 stars

Sweet, sexy, beautifully romantic and heartfelt but also laugh-out-loud funny and so much fun! This is the perfect guilty pleasure read, and I devoured it!

We are introduced to Jane Denning while she is trying on her Xena costume for Comic-con (I love her already). She is one of a group of four best friends, and is in the middle of bridesmaid duties for one of them, who has turned into a control-freak, DIY-mad bridezilla. Desperate to escape the ever-increasing demands placed upon her by the bride, she happily accepts the task of babysitting the groom’s new-in-town bad boy brother in the lead up to the wedding to ensure that he stays out of trouble. Simple, right?

Cameron MacKinnon has just returned from an overseas deployment and he is ready to embrace everything that he has missed - sex, alcohol, home-cooked food and wild adventures. Unfortunately he has been landed with an uptight babysitter, but he soon learns that the super-responsible Jane actually has a wild streak of her own, and as he drags her along on his reintroduction to civilian life, he realises that loosening her up is a whole lot of fun that he wasn’t expecting.

“Sometimes you have to open your eyes and jump”

I LOVE this relationship! Smart and funny with fantastical banter, Jane and Cameron may appear to be an unlikely match, but the more time they spend together, the more they get to know each other, and the build-up of their attraction is fantastic!

Jane is such a fantastic character. She’s smart, sensible and relatable, and her nerdiness is absolutely charming. She’s blown away by Cameron from the first moment she sees him, and though she’s initially with him out of a sense of duty (and to escape wedding-planning hell), she actually likes his company, and the lines begin to blur as she discovers that spending time with him isn’t such a chore after all.

And Cameron may have a bad reputation, but not all is at it seems, and he is completely misunderstood by pretty much everybody in his life. But then along comes Jane who accepts him as he is and who actually wants to dig deeper and get to know him. They have so much fun together, and she is so much more than he expected, and he quickly finds himself falling hopelessly under her spell.

The chemistry is fantastic, the sexual tension sizzles and when they eventually get down to it, the sexy time is steamy hot! True feelings develop easily and naturally, and though I was wrapped up in romantic bliss, are they ready for all that it means?

This book is such a fun ride. It’s sweet, funny and seriously sexy, a delightfully charming read, but not in an OTT sugary way, just in a way that is enjoyable and will have you reading with a permanent smile on your face. There is some drama, but it’s handled just perfectly, and I loved the way it all played out.

And as fantastic as the romance is, the other highlight of the book is Jane and her girlfriends. This is a great bunch of girls, each of them strong and smart but utterly unique. There is a lot of love between them and they have great dynamics, and I can’t wait to read the books for the rest of the girls in this fabulous group.

A fantastic start to a new series, I loved it!

I got to feel the thrill in experiencing Canada – from CN Tower’s EdgeWalk to Niagara Falls, to Canada’s Wonderland in this exciting and romantic story of Jane and Cameron. I enjoyed reading it!

I decided to pick up this book when I was in need of an escape. I was reading a book with a heavier tone to it and a lot of stressful things had popped up in my personal life, and I knew I needed something to help me ignore some of those stresses. And this was a pretty good escape.

Ever since her dad died in a car accident, Jane has been Miss Responsibility. Never wanting to rock the boat or make trouble for her mother or older brother, she stayed on the straight and narrow, becoming the “responsible one” in her group of girlfriends. With one of her best friend’s, Elise’s, wedding coming up, Elise goes full bridezilla, kicking the DIY wedding projects into high gear, and Jane will do anything to escape; even if that means babysitting the groom’s troublemaker little brother.

Cameron has recently returned from his deployment and is looking to relax, unwind, and let loose before his big brother’s wedding. His plans are brought to a screeching halt though when Jane crashes his plans. But he soon finds that riling her up is the most fun he’s had in years.

One and Only was a somewhat textbook romance. I did enjoy it, even if it wasn’t my most favorite. I enjoyed how Cameron and Jane’s relationship progressed, and how they become closer and opened up to each other in ways they hadn’t done with others, even their closest friends and family. The relationship could have gone a little slower, as it seemed to go from 0 to 100 very quickly, but I eased off on that a bit because it is a romance.

Overall, I liked it enough to continue with the series, and since I’m writing this review after I finished the other books, I can tell you the rest of the books in the series only get better as they go on!

Likable character in Jane, but the romance didn't seem believable for me. Cameron is kind of a jerk, and I never really liked him. And his inner thoughts really grossed me out sometimes. Not the biggest fan, and I'm worried about how I'm going to feel about the rest of the series at this point.

I read this a while ago but I’m only now getting around to post my review. This is the first book in the series and what a start! If you’re into bridezillas and wedding planning, this is a series not to miss.

**3.5 STARS!

That was too damn cute. I loved Jane so much and then Cam comes into the picture and I love them together so much too! This story was the perfect blend of sweetness, steaminess, and heart-warming heart-break.

I can't believe I hadn't started this series when it first came out and I am so excited to catch up now, because this cast of characters have got me so hooked! The fact that each leading lady gets their own book? A million times YES!

This is the first book by this author I have read and I have to say I really like the series so far.
This was a sweet wedding romance story. The story revolves around Jane, her best friend is getting married and Janes job is to keep the grooms brother in check. But Cam is the reckless one, the one always looking for fun. By Jane is the complete opposite to Cam. she’s responsible, the motherly figure in her group of friends. She’s the one everyone relies on.
I really liked cam and it surprised me that he wasn’t after Jane at first and we got to see how his feelings changed towards her.
An issue I do have and I can see from other reviews is that the author/publisher have put a cover in this book that does not fit. Jane is a plus sized women but whoever picked the cover didn’t do a good job of matching the character. Honestly if your going to have models on a cover let it reflect the characters you are writing about.
But saying that it isn’t a bad cover it just doesn’t go well with the story and characters.
All in all the book was fun and I loved the friendship between the women.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and light read!

I received an early copy of One and Only and I was very excited to read it as it contained one of my favorite tropes - the best friend and a sibling. In this case, it was the BFF of the bride and the brother of the bride's groom. Cameron and his brother weren't close growing up and Cameron had a bit of a wild side but there was also a lot that Cameron didn't reveal to his brother. So his brother had a lot of misconceptions which lead him to be worried on how Cameron would act in the days leading up to his wedding. Enter Jane. Good old reliable Jane. Jane who is an author and works from home and is often taken advantage of by her friends who don't understand that writing is every bit a full time job as a 9-5 office job.

I was a bit annoyed at Jane's friends as they placed her in this box and refused to let her break free of it as it would impact their lives and the things she did for them too much. Jane was the reliable one, the planner, the caretaker....so if she was around they didn't have to do anything which Jane didn't always seem to mind but it could be a drain. Which is why I loved Cameron for her. Cameron had such an open and spontaneous personality that he was the perfect yin to Jane's yang. He complemented her and helped her to break out of her shell. Although, I must admit, it took me a bit to warm up to Cameron as he was very judgmental at first basing opinions on appearance and so I was really glad to see how Jane changed in his eyes as he got to know her.

One and Only was a fun story. It was filled with laughs and geekiness and two people who were total opposites but who were also so perfect for each other. I loved their journey and once I started this book I hard a hard time to put it down. If you like a fun contemporary romance then this is definitely one that you want on your list!

I adore this story!! ONE AND ONLY is a fun, sexy, and heartfelt read. I loved the interactions between Jane and Cam. It was wonderful to see how Jane and Cam opened up to each other and proved to each other and to themselves that they are more than the roles that have been assigned to them and the roles they have assumed.

Some Favorite Quotes:

"He was a mass of contradictions."

"She really was scared of the ride she was about to get on. But one of the things she’d learned from Cameron in the past few days was you could be scared of a thing and still do that thing."

I read ONE AND ONLY this summer while I was on vacation relaxing at the lake. It was a great compliment to the time spent with family and friends. And with its depth and humor, it is the perfect any time read.

I'm so excited that ONE AND ONLY is part of a series and we will get a chance to get to know the other best friends/bridesmaids. The second book, IT TAKES TWO, is already out so I need to read it soon. I have no idea what I am waiting for!

This is my first time reading anything by this author and I really enjoyed it.

Jane is a bridesmaid in her friends wedding and is asked to babysit the groom’s younger brother. She was not looking forward to babysitting Cameron after hearing things about him. She was glad he wasn’t as bad as she thought he would be.

I really liked these characters. Cameron and Jane were complete opposites but perfect for each other. This was such a fun fast paced story that I really enjoyed. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

This is a brilliant, fun read and definitely a keeper IMHO! When Jane Denning agreed to be a bridesmaid for her friend, she didn’t anticipate her turning into a bridezilla! Now she’s been given the chance to miss out on some of the turmoil by babysitting the groom’s brother . . . should be easier, shouldn’t it? Oh no, think again! Cameron MacKinnon has recently returned from deployment and is out for fun, definitely not appreciating being baby sat! However, he finds it is so easy and such fun to wind Jane up!  Initially the two are not attracted to each other, what could possibly go wrong - or right?

I loved this story, packed with laugh out loud moments, as well as some insightful looks at the impact of cruel gossip, the armed forces, PSTD and addiction. There’s no instant love in this story, in fact it is only as the two get to know each other that feelings between them developed, making this feel a more realistic romance. The dynamics between the bride and her friends are excellently portrayed, as is how Cameron acts and react with the reasons explained as the story progresses. It is a fantastic read to escape into, with great characters, plenty of twists and turns and fun - I have no hesitation in highly recommending it!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

I really liked this romance! It was recommended to me by a friend and that friend was 100% percent right about how good this series is.

Cute contemporary romance set against the backdrop of a wedding (series). The hero suffers war trauma and PTSD, and the heroine is quirky, geeky, and fun.

Jenny Holiday's One and Only was a hilarious addition to the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series. I loved the relationship between Jane and Cameron.

When I started to read One and Only, I had just finished a book with a similar idea and I wasn't feeling it. So after a few chapters, I decided to put it on hold. Fast forward a week or so and as I'm scrolling through Instagram Stories, Leah from The Ripped Bodice mentioned that she's reading One and Only and is enjoying it. So I thought what the hell and I started reading it again... Five chapters later, I could not put the book down. Holy Shit Balls, this book was friggin' amazing. So amazing, I'm using italics! The characters were fabulous. I adored Jane. The balls that woman had! She faced her fears and never once backed down. Okay she did once, but in her defense... I would have run screaming too. Cameron was so damn lovable, it hurt to see him being judged for his past indiscretions. He's trying to move past it all, but just can't seem to get far enough ahead before it catches up to him. I loved that he and Jane truly understood each other. Cameron knew how to get Jane out of her shell. In return, Jane was the calming force that he so desperately needed. Simply amazing. I feel like I can't gush about the characters without mentioning Jane's friends, especially Gia. Oh, my god! I can't wait for her book.

When I started One and Only the second time, I wasn't prepared for how different this book really was. I loved that while the sexy time scenes were scorching hot, the budding romance between Jane and Cameron felt innocent at times. They went to a haunted house, spent time at a theme park... I kinda want to see that more in romance. And they didn't just jump into bed (although I don't think Cameron would have minded that one bit). I loved that about this book. The balance between the sweet "getting to know you" moments and the scorching sex scenes was fantastic. I was in love with One and Only from cover to cover. I have an inkling Jenny Holiday might be a new favorite author.
