Dragons, scots, and a HEA - what more could a woman ask for?

Rhiannon and Dylan both have certain skills that are not natural - magic has made their lives more complicated than most, and their fates are entwined in ways they weren't exactly ready to experience. But now that an evil sorcerer has started the motion of letting the dragons free, they must work together in order to save everything that they hold dear.

I fell in love with both the characters and the story! It was a nicely set pace, with lots of interesting dialogue parts and romantic scenes, and while initially it wouldn't seem so (seeing as "fated to be" sounds kinda forced), the love between Rhiannon and Dylan happened just right. Not to mention that I love the trope of the "boy maiden" - it's not only hilarious, but also exciting to see when the other shoe drops and the inevitable happens. Plus, I can get behind a woman who'll do even the unthinkable to make sure her destiny is in her own hands. It's a special kind of medieval romance that I had missed.

But that doesn't mean that the secondary characters are any less interesting. On the contrary, I was as invested in the main leads, as I was with most of the others in this book. Jealous papa-Gian made me laugh so hard, I nearly cried [and those tears definitely did come out with Owain's death]. And don't get me started on Robbie and Nessa!

I can't wait to read more of this series!

I really enjoyed this book. What is more sexier than a man that can control dragons. Dylan is a really good guy that has been emotionally scarred by a birth mark and superstition. Rhiannon is a fierce and loyal woman that ignites Dylan's heart and makes him realize he is worthy of love and he is not a curse to his people. This is a great love story and very original.

Dragon Laird is a story that is full of emotional turbulence, fabulous characters and a spellbinding world that readers will become fascinated with.

Dylan and Rhiannon are fabulous, well written characters that readers can really get into and the fact that they are destined despite being enemies adds spice to their steamy attraction and delightful romance. There is lots of emotional turbulence that really help readers get to know the heart of the characters and keep them engaged with the couple as the story unfolds which of course also adds lots of depth to the characters and their romance.

Secrets, twists and turns and hidden enemies keep the suspense building throughout the story and keep readers on the edge of their seat throughout as Dylan and Rhiannon’s romance pull the reader into a quest full of magic and an evil that could destroy their world.

Alyna Lochlan is an author that I will definitely be keeping my eye on as I was completely enchanted by Dragon Laird from beginning to end. She brought her world to life with well written words that painted a vivid and enchanting picture and strong compelling characters that made it easy to become caught up in and I am looking forward to visiting her Dragon Spawn Chronicles again.
