I have been a fan of Jane Porter for a long time, so when I found out that there was blacklist books that I hadn't read I got so excited. I was even more excited to find a holiday themed book that I could read for December. I say all of this because I didn't love this book at all.

From the beginning I knew this was book two in a series, but with most romance series each book is self contained. I felt as though throughout the whole book I was missing out on a storyline or something and I didn't love it.

Rory and Sadie were interesting characters and not interesting in the way I like things. Sadie's obsessive nature about becoming a mom felt weird and awkward. I felt as though the author didn't do a great job of setting up how they had known each other from childhood which made things feel all a bit uncomfortable. Because their history wasn't established that well, it felt as though Sadie was this weird rodeo stalker instead of what she probably was which was a long standing crush.

I just couldn't get behind this couple or their journey. I wanted to love this book so much that I went and devoured this series and instead I think I will drop this series and will not try anything else from this series.

Ah, the Douglas family. We first met McKenna and now Rory. (I've also read the "first Douglas" story so have a bit of a background. I'm sorry to see this family not have their own explicit series because I was very intrigued by the story in McKenna's book of the murder of the family and how it has never been solved.

Rory is only alive because he was dropping McKenna off at a party that night. And his arrival back home only saved his younger brother. And now, Rory is closed off, almost fearful, definitely punishing himself for and because of what happened. His actions both in the rodeo and out of it are direct results of that night.

Enter Sadie. Sadie who has had a crush on Rory since, well, since that night. Because it was her party McKenna was coming to. Sadie has spent her whole life wanting Rory and now, she just wants a life. Forget Rory; he's not in the picture. Until he is.

There's a lot of pain to unpack in this book. But it's good, a healing and cleansing book for both Rory and Sadie. It doesn't hurt that McKenna makes an appearance either. It's a good book and I enjoyed it. In the end, it's quite the feel-good story, made all the sweeter because they had to deal with the rain.

I sincerely hope Porter has an answer for the murder to come in the last of the Douglas's book because I seriously want to know who the murderer is, even if it was some random person passing through.

Not my favorite from this author (She's Gone Country now that's my fave).
Sadie annoyed me terribly like she couldn't make up her mind. Rory was a little too broody and tortured for my tastes.
What can I say ?... Can't lov'em all.

This is an amazing Christmas love story. I enjoyed reading every page of the book, although it is emotionally, heartbreaking story about surviving but not really living. And that is the story about Rory a bull rider and mystery girl Sadie who happens to be from his hometown. After Rory's accident and Sadies lost, she is determined to turn a new page in her life but destiny has its way and sends Rory back in her life. I like both Rory and Sadie their story is heartbreaking, funny, full of passion, seduction, and grief. I loved and enjoyed reading every page of this amazing book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

At the start of the book Rory does not know who Sadie is - she is just the mysterious woman he has spotted in the audience at some of the bull riding events he takes part in. When he is injured, he prays that he gets a chance to see her again, and he unexpectedly does, when he returns to his home town and finds out she has been there all along!
But there was a tragedy in Rory's past - can he move on and make a life with Sadie. An emotional read.

I finished this relatively small book in a little more than two hours. Within its limited pages, we get the feel for the past tragedy that shapes the action of Rory the bull rider. The characters seem very familiar and I feel I have visited them before. I just do not have the data to confirm it ( Must have been a pre-goodreads era). Though it seems absurd if you consider the time that elapses before things get serious, the telling of the tale lets you ignore that. The long devotion of Sadie Mann is finally given a chance to speak with her hero(Rory) and also to probably have a future. The story is pretty straightforward, but well written. The writing was good enough to make me shed a few tears in several parts of the book. This is definitely for those who love a well written book about happily ever afters.

I hadn't realised this was book 2 in a series when I requested it. Don't like to do that unless I have read book one. But i did enjoy all the same. Beautiful cover on the book. Nice and festive. It was nice to find a book that was more true to life. Not perfect in every way. Not everyone has the money for the perfect family life and christmas. And this book was perfect for that. Well done to the writer for tackling that in the story. Lovely feel good festive book. Was well written and I loved the authors tone and style of writing.

Miracle on Chance Avenue (Love on Chance Avenue Book 2) by Jane Porter
This is Rory Douglas and Sadie Mann’s story.

Oh my goodness! Author Jane Porter outdid herself with this book. I loved Rory and Sadie’s story!

Rory and Sadie’s characters were so much fun. I felt a connection to them from the beginning to the end of the story. I wish they were real people. Rory and Sadie would be a neat couple to meet.

This story was a beautiful, emotional, passionate, and a heartwarming romance. Their story will stick with me for awhile. Rory and Sadie’s story is a must read!

4.5 Two Finally Find Each Other Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
This is a story which had many layers of want, pain and finally a coming together for a wonderful payoff. Jane Porter took so much and made it work on so many levels.

Rory Douglas is at the end of his career with the American Extreme Bull Riding Tour. He has lived his life testing the odds every time he climbed on a bull. He hadn't asked for it, but before he started riding the circuit, he had beaten odds and felt he shouldn't...So every time he climbed on, the prayer he sent up wasn't for himself but for his sister McKenna and her family. These two were dealt the worst hand when it came to tragedies with each working through it in their own way...

Rory's was staying away from Marietta as much as he could. He only came to town this time to look at a potential property on Chance Street an area of Marietta that was "On the Other Side of the Tracks"...Rory thinks with the right renovations, he could create better housing for the people of the town who were not of the affluent...the working class who have been trying to make due. By providing favorable apartments with clean secure outdoor areas for children to play on would be something the town needs. Rory was one of the smart riders banking his wins and investing in real estate for some time now. He has done renovations on pieces all over the country and even in Marietta.

Rory had contacted the real estate company that manages his one of his rentals and gave another name to rent it... so he could just come and leave without anyone knowing he was there. He knows his sister and family would want to see him, especially with it being Christmas and if he can get his head on straight... he will reach out and see them. Then he will leave the next day... in and out.

Sadie Mann is freezing ... she is waiting for the man who was supposed to be there 20 minutes ago. Sadie works for the rental company and is adjusting... as Sadie use to work as a flight attendant for a private planes. It gave her the ability to fly all over and do all the things she wanted...And one was trailing after a man who she loved from a far since she was 13 years old...

Was it realistic, no... Because as much as she wanted him... dreamed of him, followed him all over the circuit...and wished for just a piece of him...She was too shy and held back to approach him in the flesh. The one time she did approach him, his reaction was not anything she could handle...

So that dream was squashed and couple it with her mother's passing, Sadie has decided she is going to stop all those dreams and live a settled life. She will buckle down, work a steady local job here in Marietta... bank the money she needs to provide for the life she has planned... and let go of those old heartbreaking dreams...

As Rory walks up to the rental, he has to take a second look... the woman waiting for him is the woman he would see in the Rodeo Stands... the one he deemed his angel. The one he would wish would come down and meet him...The one he would always look for and the one he always knew when she was there ... with their eyes connecting before his ride. And then the one time he did get close to her, he was an ass...

What was she doing there....Was this a sign...

What was Rory Douglas doing coming towards me...Oh My God... this cannot be happening...
Those are the thoughts rambling around in Sadie's head when her dream man walks right up to her...although she also remembers very clearly his reaction the one and only time they exchanged words...

Well, this is the set up but there is so much more then this woman who had a need and desire for this man...It would have at first been easy to chock this up to a formula romance of lost loves etc. But Jane Porter had much more in mind. She took a man who needed to be relieved of guilt and allow himself the chance to love. She took a woman who had loved this man from afar... who had been touched by pain just as harsh as Rory's... and showed her she deserved to have her dreams come true...

This turned out to be one of my favorite Marietta, Montana stories...and that is saying a lot as I happen to be a huge fan of these books.

Rating: 4.5/5

This is a story of going home to face the past and look to the future. The couple concerned have friends in common but hadn’t previously spoken. Despite this, Sadie Mann has loved him since she was thirteen years old and he brought his sister, McKenna, to her birthday party. That was also the night his parents and other siblings were murdered . . . . Rory Douglas tried to escape Marietta by competing on the American Extreme Bull Riding Tour. Sadie used to go watch him ride, but never spoke or contacted him. After her mother’s untimely death, thirty-five year old Sadie has re-evaluated her life, decided to give up on waiting for Rory to reciprocate her love and is planning on becoming a single Mum, using a sperm donor for the father. That’s when Rory returns and the two meet. The attraction is mutual, the chemistry hot, can love find a way to bring them together?

This is an emotional roller coaster ride. Unusually, it also involves people from the less affluent area of Marietta. It is another lovely Marietta based festive read, the second in the series. Some of the characters, events and places appear in other, parallel stories and series but each can be read as a standalone - you don’t have to read any of the others to appreciate this one.

This story is a journey, acknowledging and coming to terms with the past, realising its impact on present behaviour and attitudes and learning to trust and hope to enable moving on to a future full of hope and love. I really enjoyed escaping into this story which proved to be a real page turner that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys well crafted contemporary romance stories to read, in fact I highly recommend everything I've read by this talented author!

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Miracle on Chance Avenue by Jane Porter was one of those books you just read in one sitting. It's heartwarming, sweet, and just so very well written that you can't put the book down.
We are back in the fictional town of Marietta and it's close to Christmas. If you like Marietta at Christmas time you will enjoy joying our main characters Rory Douglas and Sadie Mann on a stroll down memory lane.
Not everything is sweet and lovely, but they might just get a chance at love.

This is a charming and, for me, a magnetic offering from the very talented Ms. Porter. The characters are complex in the levels of emotions they each experience and the haunting the male character feels from his family’s horror is powerful to the plot.
Sadie is yearning for a child of her own with no husband prospects and is determined to use a donor until Rory shows up. She has been in far away love with him since she was thirteen and has dreamed of him becoming hers.
Rory is finally finding himself coming to terms with the brutal deaths of his mother, father and three younger siblings. His life has been a dance with death as a bull rider, daring it to conquer him with every ride, if only to end the guilt and misery he lives with daily.
Sadie witnessed Rory’s serious injury and sees that his duels with death are never ending. Rory senses her in the stands every time she has been to see him but she is never around after the ride to meet her. It is a chance meeting that brings them together but a secret from her past could tear it all apart.

Miracle on Chance Avenue was a very sweet and entertaining holiday romance. This is the story of Rory, a bull rider who never got over a terrible tragedy that took most of his family, and Sadie who has had a crush on him forever. Sadie is ready to be a mom and always thought Rory would be the perfect father but could never even work up the nerve to talk to him. Rory hadn't noticed Sadie in the town they both grew up in, but in the past few years he's noticed her in the stands at several of his bull riding events and started to think of her as his, even though they'd never met. When a career threatening bull riding accident, and the death of Sadie's mother brings them both home to Marietta, Montana, Rory and Sadie must both overcome their past hurts to determine if there is a chance for a real lasting love between them or if their connection was just in their heads.
As I was reading I got a sense of book deja vu, but quickly realized that it was because I'd previously read Jane Porter's The Kidnapped Christmas Bride which stars Rory's sister McKenna and therefore had the same back story. So if you've read that one parts of this book will seem familiar.
Over all I really enjoyed reading this. It was a quick read and it really drew me in so I was done in a day. I like Jane Porter's writing style a lot, she had a perfect amount of humor and emotion through out the book. I really liked the characters of Sadie and Rory. I loved that the author gave a lot of back story into their childhoods and families. That really helped me to connect with them and better understand their feelings and actions. I liked that the author focused equally on both characters and they both helped each other through their issues. There were some very touching moments and I felt like I was genuinely invested in the character's happiness and was pulling for their happily ever after.
This was a "sweet" romance some Christian elements (I've read this author before and don't remember that in previous books), which is not usually my style but I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys holiday romance reads with lots of emotion, but no overt love scenes.

This is a predictable romance between two people who are both lost in their memories and the emotions that come with them. Sadie Mann wants children badly, and has now finally moved to a place in her life where that is possible. For years, Sadie has wanted the father to be her lifelong crush, Rory Douglas. She even followed him as he went through the rodeo circuit as a bull rider, though she never once stopped to speak with him. Since they both grew up in Marietta, MT, Sadie knew Rory’s family, though not him, and the unfinished mystery that surrounded them. Rory as ben running away for a long time. Years before, he found most of his family murdered at their ranch home one night in Marietta—a case that remains unsolved. Now, Rory has returned to Marietta. Sadie should be happy, but she has finally resolved to move on from her crush, to find a good life without Rory. Rory just wants to put his past behind him and finally move on from that dreadful night when he found he bodies at his home. This seemingly unsuitable (for each other) pair come together in Marietta for a sweet but short romance.

The story is predictable. The characters Sadie and Rory are done well, with good chemistry between them from the start. The setting in this small town is also quite suitable to the romance and story that unfolds. My only problem was that it all was a little bit too pat for me. No mystery. No wondering about how or if the couple would get together, as it was obvious, from the start, they would. Too convenient for my taste. Still, it is a good, feel good romance that provided me an enjoyable read. This is the season for happiness, joy and love, and this book brings that to the reader. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Miracle on Chance Avenue
by
Jane Porter
Rory Douglas rarely returns to his home town of Marietta, choosing instead to unleash his demons competing on the American Extreme Bull Riding Tour. But after a particularly bruising season, Rory visits Marietta with the idea of buying an investment property and planning for a future he never imagined or wanted.

After ten years as a flight attendant, Sadie Mann has turned in her wings to focus on her shabby chic business and becoming a single mom. Adjusting to her new life is proving harder than she expected and the last thing she needs is unrequited love, Rory Douglas, home for the holidays. Everyone knows he avoids Marietta, Christmas, and settling down, so why is he back now?

Rory and Sadie have never had a chance, but maybe this Christmas will bring the miracle they’re looking for.
This is Rory Douglas and Sadie Mann's story.
The worst part about being the newest employee was that you had the least amount of seniority, which was why Sadie Mann was standing outside a tiny historic stable turned into stylish small house at the end of Farrell Avenue, shivering in the snow, waiting for the renter to show and pick up the keys at nine thirty at night.
she recognized that square jaw with just a hint of golden brow bristle and she knew that black felt hat, too. The limp, and the cane, those were new, but the rest was achingly familiar.Rory Douglas. There weren’t many street lights in this part of town, and the small porch lights framing the doors of the old stable created two small pools of light that did little to illuminate the shoveled sidewalk or the man.
Miracle on Chance Avenue by Jane Porter is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I highly recommend.

Miracle on Chance Avenue is the second book in the Love on Chance Avenue series. Sadie decides it's time to be a mom. But she can't have the father be the man she wants so she choose to use a donor. Rory has been bull riding for years, but after an injury, he decides it is time to buy some property and move on. He has seen Sadie at his events, but never knew who she was. When he meets up with her in Marietta, he is determined to get to know her. When Sadie confesses her plans, Rory has his own ideas of how that should go. Will they both get what they want? I loved this story. I consider this a must-read book!

4.5 Stars!

I never pass up an opportunity to read a book by Jane Porter. Her stories are replete with emotion, three-dimensional characters, and an engaging plot. Miracle on Chance Avenue is the second book from her Love on Chance series, and it can be totally enjoyed as a standalone. In addition, the cover is quite captivating.

Former flight attendant Sadie Mann has been in love with rodeo star Rory Douglas since she was thirteen. Due to her flight schedule, she was able to follow him on the circuit from time to time, but never had the courage to approach him personally. However, their eyes did meet and Rory always wondered about her. When Rory returned to Marietta for a business transaction, he and Sadie began to know each other. In fact, they became more than friends. Their relationship is a bit stormy, but they end up making it work. Sadie's support enables Rory deal with his tragic past and finally move on with his life.

I really enjoyed this sweet and sexy story. Ms. Porter's writing style continues to be effortless and easy to understand. Her meaningful and sincere descriptions of the holiday festivities in the small town of Marietta, make you want to be there in person. Sadie and Rory are perfect together and I felt their connection immediately. If you are in the mood for an emotional and entertaining romance, check out this magical holiday read.

Miracle on Chance Avenue by Jane Porter is the second book in the romantic Love on Chance Avenue series. Each book in the series feature a different couple and can be read as a standalone romance if choosing to do so. The books are set in the charming town of Marietta, MT though and there may be characters or events that have been featured in other books set in this small town.

This was a rather interesting idea behind a couple coming together in a story. Rory and Sadie share a past in their small town and somewhat know each other but had never really started a relationship. Sadie is wanting to become a mother and had Rory all handpicked out to become her baby’s daddy but never approached him with the matter but has now decided to go the artificial route but of course timing is everything and now the couple have a chance together.

Another thing I found to be a little different from other Marietta books that I’ve read in the past was the fact that this one touched upon the poorer side of this small town. This gave the story a bit more of a realistic feel to me seeing how we all know that there are always areas anywhere that are a bit more run down and in need of TLC so I actually enjoyed the idea of bringing that to light.

In the end I enjoyed this holiday romance with a nice couple at the forefront of another lovely read in the charming Marietta.
