Daniele Doria and Steven Whyte are a bit of an odd couple. Thrown together by, well, their respective armed forces, Steven is in Italy looking for gun runners and Daniele is his cover as an injured cousin he’s staying with. Overall I liked the relationship between the two, Steven’s “good ole boy” attitude against Daniele’s assholery. What can I say, I love a good asshole. It wasn’t perfect - Daniele’s health issues cropped up very conveniently in relation to the plot, Steven’s PTSD issues only made an appearance after the reader is told “oh, hey, he has PTSD issues,” and there was a bit too much “gay for you” for my personal preference. All that said, it’s overall a good story, and I enjoyed it. I’ll have to keep an eye out to see if any further work from this author show up in English.
