There are few who can do suspense and mystery like Lisa Renee Jones and I swear she nails it every time. Murder Notes had me going from the very beginning all the way to the very end. It was unique both as a Lisa Renee Jones’ book and on its own and I couldn’t get enough of it.

I said before that this was a unique book for this author because Murder Notes is more thrillery/suspense than love and romance. And while I’m usually all about my romance, I didn’t mind that the book focused more on Lilah Love and her hunt for the truth — in fact, I actually loved that and I'm glad that it was written this way. Anyway, as Murder Notes is really about Lilah’s journey, I’m only going to talk about her.

And Lilah Love, aside from having the coolest name ever, is also a total boss. She’s tough and dark and sarcastic and a smart aleck. There are times when I think she’s just a little bit dramatic, but that has more do with my messed-uped-ness than hers, so I couldn’t fault her for it or be irritated with her. I just really love Lilah, she truly is her own heroine and hero, she doesn’t need someone to take care of her and she’s beyond capable of doing whatever needs to be done on her own.

Murder Notes intrigued me, ensnared me, and refused to let me go. It had me on the edge of seat, eager to know more with every page I turned. It was full of mystery and kept me guessing the whole time — I’m still questioning and guessing even now. Murder Notes was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to read Murder Girl!

Murder Notes is the first book in the Lilah Love series, it’s told only from Lilah’s point of view, and it’s definitely going to leave you wanting more.

As an FBI profiler, it’s Lilah Love’s job to think like a killer. When a series of murders surface—the victims all stripped naked and shot in the head—Lilah’s instincts tell her it’s the work of an assassin, not a serial killer. When the case takes her back to her hometown in the Hamptons and a mysterious but unmistakable connection to her own life, all her assumptions are shaken to the core. Lilah’s back in the town where her father is mayor, her brother is police chief, and she has an intimate history with the local crime lord’s son, Kane Mendez..The two share a devastating secret, And don't miss MURDER GIRL, the exciting follow-up to MURDER NOTES!

OMG, this book was amazing. It kept me on my toes and I loved it. First time reading from this author and I can’t wait to read more from her. This definitely left me hanging and I can’t wait for book 2.

Lilah Love is a badass FBI agent. She doesn’t take crap from anybody. She does an awesome job at profiling all of the murders. She moves away from her hometown and family and then ends up back there to work on a case. She is haunted from her past but that doesn’t stop her from being a strong, independent woman.

Kane is Lilah’s ex lover. He is sexy, dangerous and protective. He is so protective of Lilah. He wants to be more with her but she can’t do that again with him. They get one another.

There was a lot of characters in this book. Each one of them adding more to the story. The author added these characters at the perfect spot in this book.

Definitely recommended this book!! ARC provided by Netgalley.

Loved reading the first book in the Lilah Love series. I reviewed a copy of the book from NetGalley.
When Lilah, an FBI Profiler, has to return to her hometown to solve a case, she has mixed feelings of seeing her ex-boyfriend, Kane, family, and friends. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of mystery, romance, and intrigue, riveting the reader from the first page until the last page full of anticipation for the next book in the series.

I received an advanced readers copy of Murder Notes by Lisa Renee Jones. This book is very different from here other series because it's a mystery thriller. This book has alot of suspense, murders, secrets and many twist. Seems as you are reading this book more questions arise before older questions are answered. This book ends on such an intense cliff hanger.

First off, this story had me feeling like I was literally in the mind of the main character Lillah Love. Lilah Love is a FBI profiler. She's from the Hamptons, where basically she is royalty. Her mother was a famous actress and her father is the Mayor and her brother is chief of police. But she has left her hometown, due to a secret, something traumatic had happened to her in her past, and it isn't all the way revealed in the story. The author gives you tidbits here and there. Ugh! You really have to pay attention to figure out what it is.
Her current case leads Lilah to believe it is the work of an assassin, not a serial killer. The victims are found naked and shot in the head. The case leads her back home and she really doesn't want to go. She's basically distance herself with everyone. As soon as she lands, there is a dead body and she feels like this is personal. Lilah has all these crazy ideas that someone is toying with her. She isn't received well at the crime scene. Some of her old friends aren't welcoming. There are mysterious notes left on her door and car, and she is making herself crazy. She starts talking to herself and you as the reader are feeling that , you yourself are in her head making yourself crazy as well. Lilah thinks that her past is coming back to haunt her and she makes up all these scenarios in her mind.
It has a great mystery and suspense due to you trying to figure out who is doing all the killings and is it the same person who is leaving all the notes for Lilah. Is her family against her because they are also hiding something.
I gave it 3 stars because it ends on a cliff hanger! Ugh I have to wait FOREVER for the next book!! I can't wait!

i have read a lot of books by Lisa Renee Jones and I have been a fan for a few years now but unfortunately, this book was my least favourite.

I love her writing but this story just didn't grab me. Maybe it is because I just didn't feel like reading when I read this one. I will try again in the future and I hope I will enjoy this book more next time.

I was provided an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.- 3.5 stars

The description of this book was right up my alley- sounded like a psychological thriller with a tough female lead and a little romance thrown in. For the most part, that is correct.

Lilah is a no-nonsense kind of lead that has an interesting backstory. However, she has some reckless tendencies that make her seem as not as competent as I had hoped. She seems to have pushed away everyone that has cared for her. This gives her the cliched appearance of a cop with nothing left to lose. And she acts that way sometimes.

The romance threw me off a bit. I was not expecting a triangle of sorts. Both of the love interests are passionate and you want to root for them. Frankly, I feel bad for Rich. I think he deserves better. Kane and Lilah are explosive together, which is not always a good thing. Especially the more that we learn about him.

As far as the thriller part, I was a little let down because there is a definitely a cliffhanger. And it is a stop in the middle of a scene and then the next book starts at that scene kind of cliffhanger. We don't really get any sort of answers in the first book, so be prepared to continue on.

Coming back home never meant you would not get bit in the azzzzzzzzzzzz. Lilah did not expect for one of her cases to lead her back home. Back home to so much more than just family and old friends. Back home meant that she would be thrust back in her past to things she would rather not rehash. But there is someone that wants very much for her to remember and pay.

Lisa Renee Jones knows how to write a Romantic Suspense that would have you desperate to turn to the next page, devour the next chapter and hang on for the next fix. Lilah Love, FBI profiler, fits the need for a strong, smart, independent, woman that can use her mind to infiltrate so of societies most depraved.

Okay I found it to be more suspense than romance but that did not take-away from the read in any way. I found Lilah to be just what was needed. I'm anticipating her next case.

The author is amazing. I have read a couple of her books and been just as captivated by her writing.
Lila is an FBI Profiler, a woman with a guilty past, has more men in her life through blood, work, and steam (she doesn't do romance) and being assigned this bloody case forces her back to the place she escaped from several years ago.
She is a tough lady fighting for her place in this man's world which leaves little room for a personal life.
The grisly murders from three cities may be tied together and she is sent to find out. The question soon becomes is she tied to the murders and is she next?
The clues are parsed out slowly from backstory to the current case. Trust for those around her is called into question leaving her the only one she can depend on for complete disclosure. Every page pulls you in deeper. I'm invested and can't wait for the rest of the story.

This sounds like one of those books I would have devoured. However, I got to 35% and realized that I really didn't care what was going on in this book. I didn't like Lilah Love or care enough to discover what was going on. I tried to go forward but I didn't want to force myself to do so. Even if I don't care about the main character, I need the murder mystery to be engaging to keep me wanting to read the story. This one just didn't cut it.

ARC provided to me via netgalley.

Wow...a mystery thriller at it's very best !!! Lilah Love is an FBI profiler with a secret and an attitude. She is tasked with solving a series of murders that are hitting too close to home. She also has two men from different sides of the law who want her but she isn't willing to commit to either. This is a really well written crime mystery that has me on the edge of my seat and anxiously waiting for book number two.

Not usually a fan of books written in 1st person, I found with this book it really didn't matter! The main character Lilah Love is a bad ass FBI profiler who I couldn't help but find amusing and likeable. I read the book in no time at all as I found it so enjoyable and although I kept telling myself I would finish the chapter then get on with something else I found I couldn't put it down and wanted to keep reading. I finished it in no time at all and eagerly await the next book.

** Note: I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. **

I would’ve given this book 5 stars had it not been for the slow start. Seriously. I tried to read this book several times and could never get past the first chapter. I shelved it as a DNF several times. But, finally, I forced myself to get past the first chapter (BTW, when my kindle was calculating my read speed based on that chapter, it told me it would take over 5 hours to finish the book when my usual time is around 2.5 – 3 hours; as the story took off, it didn’t take me that long)

I love a good suspense/mystery story with a dash of romance thrown in. This book fit the bill. As the story progressed, I became more and more invested in the storylines. As more characters got added, I had to change my guess as to who the killer was. And, at the cliffhanger ending, I am still clueless as to who did what and how all these suspects may or may not fit in the puzzle (I somehow think I have more puzzle pieces than needed?!).

As a side note, I think I have a little book crush on Kane. Apparently my type of book boyfriend is the bad boy… Our main character, Lilah the FBI profiler, is a sassy and take no prisoners type of girl (aka my favorite type of heroine).

“Bitch.” My lips curve. “Damn, I like that name.” This is my favorite line of Lilah’s. This is absolutely something I would say so probably why I find her likable.

I cannot wait for Book 2 to find out the ending to this whole mystery. And hopefully for a little more of the Kane/Lilah romance…

Is the killer someone in her own circle? And is she the next target?

I love a good romantic suspense so when I saw this available, I requested immediately. All I can say is she hit it out of the ballpark with this one!! It was sooo good. She really needs to write books in this genre more often because it was like the perfect storm. Obviously, there's going to be more in this series and that's AWESOME because this was just a really great setup of what's to come. There isn't a whole lot of romance in the romantic suspense part of the book - it's just really suspense and I loved that. The storyline was flawless. The writing was engaging and I felt like I was a part of the story. It was really well-written. Great job

I was given a copy of this book from the publisher.

Oh so good but can I just start by saying MAJOR CLIFFHANGER!? Another fabulous, yet totally different read from Lisa Renee Jones!! This story follows FBI Profiler, Lilah Love, a tough, cold, foul-mouthed agent who is perfectly capable of taking care of herself and lets everyone know it. Having grown up in the rich Hampton's lifestyle (something she tries desperately to forget), she suddenly finds herself back in the Hampton's on a case and a growing list of questions about those closest to her. This leads her not only back to the family drama she left behind and that of the Hampton's elite, but her ex, Kane and one very large secret shared between them.

This book was fast-paced, full of tension and suspense and I just could not put it down! Highly, highly recommended!

As a new reader to Lisa Renee Jones, I found that her style of writing fits into the books that I love to read. Lilah Love was a strong female character that takes you on her journey to find a killer and its link to her past. This is a fast paced read, page turner, and intriguing must read. Thank you for sharing this character with us!

Agent Lilah is a strong indeoendant woman who has to face a past she was hoping to never bring to light. There are a lot of twists and turns and ends with one heck of a cliffhanger. I highly recommend it.

I have read anything and everything that Lisa Renee Jones has written. Let me tell you, this book, Murder Notes was like nothing she has ever wrote before.

This is a suspenseful, who done it murder mystery that has a hint of a serial killer vibe. Lila,FBI agent, must try and figure out who this "serial killer" is-but she doesn't feel this killer is a "serial killer." Lila questions, literally and figuratively, everyone she comes into contact with.
Oh-big downer_ this book leaves off on a horrible cliffhanger leaving you wanting more!!
