An excellent story to give us a little more insight to Daire, Death and the rest of the Reapers. It could've used a little more action but I'm still happy with it.

As usual I love this series! This book has a lot more action and is faster paced. I really enjoyed it! I recommend this series all the time! Love Daire!

Fantasy, paranormal and romance wonderfully meet…

I don’t know how but I managed to start in the middle of the series. I hate when I do that but I couldn’t stop reading! I love this author’s stories, whether they be cowboys or – now – Fae…

Dark and Light Fae are at odds and nothing like throwing Death in the middle to mix things up even more. Good vs evil. Dark vs Light. It’s an age old story that knows no boundaries and it is nowhere better displayed in this read. This was a mix of modern and old, in a time that I couldn’t nail down but wished were possible… Three sisters are waiting. For what, they’re unsure of but Ettie knew it was coming. When not one but two men come to their door, she quickly finds she is in the middle of a battle that would affect all of mankind…

Don’t give up on me…

*swoon*

Friendship and love, and heart-pinging romance made this novella an edge of my seat read from start to finish. Ettie and Daire, and their sisters and brothers in arms, have me hooked and I can’t wait to dive into more!

Daire & Ettie's Story.

Further progression in the overall Bran story arc. We learn how he's stealing Death's magic and that he fathered by fae & half-fae children.

One of those half-fae is Ettie. Like the others she is unaware of any powers until they are needed/necessary for the battle.

Kinda disappointed by Death in this one.

Daire is part of the Reapers a group created by Death to dispose of the Fae when their time is up. One such person is Bran, a Reaper who caused death and destruction and was sent away but he escaped and is on the hunt to kill Death but he needs something. Ettie and her sisters live in the cottage her dad left them and her whole life Ettie was told by her dad to be ready but she didn’t know why will the time has come. This story kept your mind going wondering what was going to happen next and it had a little bit of everything, danger romance even jealousy. Ettie is my new heroine and how she uses her wits to protect her family and her inheritance is great.

Dark Alpha's Night is the 5th novel in the Reaper series by Donna Grant. I will admit that I found this book to be the weakest addition so far in the series, but it was still a good story and one that I would recommend.

Our heroine, Ettie, is aware of the paranormal world and she has been trained her whole life for this. In her case though, the reader might wonder on whose side she will be on. Will Bran lure her before Daire gets to her to be on the Reapers' side? That's a question you probably already know the answer to, but just read the book to make sure that you are correct. I am sure Daire is a familiar face to you from the previous books. I wouldn't recommend reading this book as stand-alone for two reasons. The main plot unravels in 7 books, so you might feel a little lost and second, the series so far has been very good and I believe you should give it a try.

ARC received for review

Daire and Ettie are great. I loved how he came in and "saved" her. Her sisters were great in helping their romance along. Daire is just as hot as all his Reaper brothers.

I really need Bran to DIE! Now!

I was looking on Ms. Grant's website, and she has listed books 8 & 9 in this series. What? There are only 7 Reapers. Don't tell me Bran is going to stick around that long

This is one of my new favorite books yet. I love Donna Grant and the dark world she has created. Each book is unique and adds more mystery. Thank you for another great read!

Dark Alpha’s Night is the story about Daire and Ettie. Daire is a Reaper on a mission to find the descendants of Bran hopefully to put an end to the war. When he finally came across Ettie and her two sisters. He also sees that Bran has found them too.

Ettie O’Bryn was combatant trained to “Be Ready!” for what she doesn’t know. Until two mysterious men came calling…with one claiming he is a Fae, a soldier for Death.

Dark Alpha’s Night, another amazing book by Donna Grant; though I didn’t enjoy the story as much as book #7. Not as much backstory giving about the characters. I advise before reading this book to read the other books in the series. The temp of the story didn’t flow as smoothly, the only take away from the story. The characters chemistry between Daire and Ettie progressed naturally and wasn’t forced.

Overall, a solid story with much drama and action to be found in this great addition to the Reaper series.

I love Donna Grant and this book didn't disappoint. I will say that with as many players in her series overlapping it has become tedious to keep track of what is going on and with who its happening to. I wish at least some of these books had more closure than more questions.

I struggled a little bit in the beginning because I hadn't read the rest of the series, so I will say this. Even though the characters can stand on their own, I definitely felt cheated as I tried to understand the world and the rest of the characters. But, once I got into the swing of things, I loved every second of it. Donna Grant has created a dark world filled with lust and danger, and she doesn't cheat the reader out of the sweeping romance just because there's plenty of lust and sex. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the books so I can catch up!

I have read a book by Donna Grant before and I really enjoyed it. I like the author, so when I had an opportunity for other ARC books by her, um... hell yeah. After a little bit, I realized that this is a HUGE world, and all the different series that Donna Grant has written are connected. I love the big series. I am really wishing I got to this at the start. So I looked up the reading order for myself just so see it visually and it is easy to find on the author's website. Another author that has a huger series that I got 20 + books deep into like that is Sherrilyn Kenyon. So Donna Grant is on the list of author's that I will scoop up because dedication to a series like that makes me happy.

Picking up a book when it's in the middle of the series is risky. You don't know if you're going to be missing out on a bunch of backstories for the characters you're reading about. You don't know if there are attributes to the characters that were mentioned before. I know I have said similarly before since this isn't my first starting somewhere other than the start. However, I have at least read a book from the world that this book belongs too. So I'm not totally lost. If you wanted to pick this up without reading the previous books, I think you would be fine. This isn't Donna Grant's first rodeo connecting readers to previous books. Dark Alpha's Night is thankfully one of those where chapter one gives you a quick breakdown of the world from Daire, one of the main characters, POV. So you get a feel for his personality and what the first four books involved. Who has coupled up in the previous books, and who have they been fighting? It really only gets into the Reapers series previous info, but there is mention to the other series that are connected. The Reaper's are working to defeat Bran, a former Reaper, in their series. Bran is trying to kill Death for revenge. There is a rule that since Reapers are the fae executioners, another fae can't know about them. The consequence is the fae who knows about the Reapers is killed. Now Bran has a special sort of rage since most of the Reapers are now paired up with someone. Each booth Bran finds a sort of loophole to siphon Death's power from her, and he is close to killing her in this book. Bran discovers a new loophole which leads him to Ettie and her two sisters. They are his descendants from his time before he was a Reaper.

Ettie is the bland sister out of the three. She is pretty but not as astounding as the other two. Each sister has a gifted characteristic that they get from their half fae lineage. Carrie has like a chef power, lol. Jamie is brilliant with mechanical things. Ettie doesn't know what her quality is till later. The only thing she knows that sets her apart is she's a better fighter. Her father told them about the fae and told them to train and prepare. Which is what he was told. So her good fighting in her mind is just from her dedication. Daire was sort of boring to me. He seemed bland, and that isn't bad because these two seemed more like a normal person you would meet on the street. Not overly brooding, or any of those typical steamy romance guys. I appreciate that every now and then when it's done right.

It looks like this is a six book series for the Reapers alone, not the whole world. That's how many it looks like so far from a quick goodreads.com check. All the books are decently priced at $3.99. It was on sale at the beginning of October so I would keep your eye out for another sale too. I would recommend this Author and her series from what I have read so far. Dark Alpha's Night was a good story, steamy, and quick enough to get through. I can't wait to continue the series from here.

Donna Grant has done it again! I love reading her characters and the challenges they face. The story was a good pace and kept me eager to see what was going to happen. I have read other series by this author and can say this book is right up there with my favorites. I can't wait to see what she will write next!

Ettie knows about the fae, she has been training to fight since she was a child. When Daire, a Reaper who works for Death, shows up he knows he needs to convince her that she is in danger. Can Ettie trust Daire or is he leading her to something worse?

Daire was an intriguing character and I liked Ettie a lot. She is a warrior and protective of her sisters. This is a quick read that catches you off guard and I definitely need to go back and start at the beginning. Fascinating concept.

Book Review- Dark Alpha’s Night by Donna Grant

Daire is pulled from observing Rhi and given a choice of joining the rest of the reapers by Death. Bran is up to something and getting stronger. They can’t kill him, and he can’t kill them. It’s almost a stalemate. The reapers need to find someone that can harm him. They go in search for his descendants.
It leads Daire to Ettie and her sisters. Bran is there trying to get them to join his side. They also have something he wants. Daire joins forces with the sisters to try and figure out what Bran wants. He is also drawn to Ettie. She is a half-ling and there is more to her than meets the eyes. She has been training and preparing for something all her life, she just doesn’t know what.
Daire and Ettie grow close as Bran tries to trick her into giving him what he wants. When he threatens the most important things in her life, she finds out who she can count on.
I love the reapers series. Daire has been following Rhi and I wondered how he would fit into the story. I was surprised the author wrote this particular story for him in terms of meeting Ettie and how. I though he would be more involved with Rhi for a while, but it will be interesting to see the direction the author takes it. The war is really heating up and Bran seems to be gaining a lot of ground. With the addition of the women in the reapers’ lives makes Bran even more set on revenge. There is a lot of intrigue and battles between groups. Bran is making strides in his battle with Death, staying one step ahead of the reapers.
The tension is building as Death grows weaker. The reader is pulled in quickly and the story holds you. I couldn’t put the book down as I flew through the story. It was a great addition. I give it a 4 out of 5.

The fifth exciting installment in Donna Grant’s Reaper series!

Dark Alpha’s Night is the fifth exciting installment in Donna Grant’s Reaper series. This series shares a timeline and multiple characters with her Dark Kings’ series. I do not recommend it, but if you absolutely insist, you could read this as a stand alone as the romance is self-contained within this tale. That said, there is an overall series’ arc along with tie-ins to the author’s Dark Kings’ series which add together to make the series best read both in-order and in-tandem with the Dark Kings’ series. I am inhaling both series and, trust me, the way Donna interweaves the two makes for a richer reading experience.

IF you are new to this series and the Dark Kings, just know that this series is about Reapers, who are elite fae assassins who answer to Death, a mysterious and beautiful female. The Reapers are on a series-long mission to save Death who is in dire straits, stop the traitorous Bran, and stop an upcoming war. Fans of the series will enjoy catching up with previous favorites as all the Reapers make appearances in this story. Readers may also expect many long-held secrets to be revealed.

As this tale opens, the Reapers are desperately searching for Bran’s descendants who may very well hold the key as to why Bran’s dark powers are growing so rapidly while Death’s are mysteriously ebbing threatening her very existence. Emphasizing the importance of this mission, Reaper Daire has been pulled from his assignment shadowing Rhi. He finds three half-fae sisters on a family farm on the outskirts of Killarney, Ireland. Unfortunately, one - Ettie - appears to already be under Bran’s influence. Can Daire convince Ettie that she’s in danger and that she should not follow Bran’s bidding?

Ettie is a big sister who has raised her two uniquely-talented younger sisters, Carrie and Jamie. Even though Carrie and Jamie are now full-grown, Ettie still feels responsible for them. Their father trained all three sisters to be ready to protect themselves and combat the evil fae, but, he failed to explain why that may occur making the whole scenario seem to be nothing more than a father’s fanciful fantasy. Ettie’s family situation makes things very interesting for the Reapers as they must discover and then cope with the diverse needs of all three women instead of just one. Can Daire and his fellow Reapers figure out why the sisters are of value to Bran before it’s too late?

Daire’s and Ettie’s chemistry is off-the-charts hot and steamy! I love that Daire has found his mate and how they interact. She’s definitely no wallflower! Daire originally captured my heart as he stealthily followed Rhi in the previous books. He certainly has earned his HEA – but it won’t be easy. Donna makes him work for it!

Villainous Bran is prominently featured in this book as he shows off his acting skills portraying someone he is not. He certainly demonstrates that he feels no remorse ruthlessly utilizing innocents to further his wicked revengeful plot against Death and the Reapers. In the past, I felt some sympathy for the way Bran and his love was treated. No more - as it’s blatantly obvious that everyone and everything is expendable to Bran.

Following please find a few of my favorite lines from Dark Alpha’s Night:

Ettie knew the best thing to do would be to put some distance between her and Daire. Being so close to him was making her feel… all sorts of wanton, lustful things.
---

“Don’t you want to experience the world? Find a man? Have sex? Because, I really, really want to have sex.”
---

“I’d be a fool to turn you away.”
His smile was slow, and entirely too sexy. “And you certainly aren’t a fool.”

This tale is not quite as action-packed as the previous books have been, but, at the same time, there seems to be more disclosures related to the series’ arc which just has to be reaching a crisis point. I sure hope that Donna moves the plot quickly from here as it’s painful to watch Death as her powers wane. Next up is Dark Alpha’s Hunger releasing August, 2018.

Interesting, engaging and wild. Pay close attention. Three halfling females are the focus of this story plus Daire, a reaper. I’d categorize this read as adventure with a sure thread of romance, rather than a romance with some adventure. By the end of this offering, the romance seems to be on sure footing, but the battle is still waging, so who knows where the story will land. If you don’t like reading multiple stories before getting the ultimate conclusion, hold off on starting this one until the series is complete.

I received an ARC of this book, from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Dark Alpha’s Night is yet another magnificent addition to the highly rated Reaper series by Donna Grant. It has everything a fantasy romance lover could ever ask for – intelligent storyline, non-stop action, and take-your-breath-away romance that will leave you dreaming about it long after you finish the book. There is nothing plain or light about this story. It will take your senses on a no-holds barred adventure and steal your heart somewhere along the way. This is true genre perfection at its finest. You don’t get any better than Donna Grant when it comes to high quality romance and razor sharp plotlines.

Ettie has been preparing her whole life for something that she had no clue about. As she teaches her sisters how to fight, she spends each day waiting in apprehension for what is around the corner. Daire’s life becomes less and less simple by the day as he watches the other Reapers as they meet and fall in love with their perfect mates. He is left frustrated and finding himself longing for who he may find. When fate leads him to Ettie, he is prepared to do the possible, the impossible, and the legendary to save her and her sisters. Ettie doesn’t know what to think about Daire, but she knows in her heart that he was sent to help her save the last of her family. When the unexpected happens and hearts open to each other, will Daire be brave enough to make Ettie a part of his life, or will Ettie be forced to make that decision for them?

Watching the beauty unfold before me as Daire and Ettie meet and slowly fall in love, I found that my heart was lost to them. They had an uneasy alliance that bloomed into something neither expected. However, things are never as easy as they seem, and they both must decide what they want and how hard they will fight for it. The little Halfling warrior won the heart of the big, lonely Reaper, and neither would ever be the same again.

Donna Grant is a goddess in the world of fantasy and romance. Her stories are thought-provoking and highly entertaining while never easing up on the fierce passion and utter determination of her couples that find and refuse to give up their mate. Grant is a true master of the brilliance that it takes to create and write highly complex and beautifully challenging stories that encompass every part of the human psyche. She is an unforgettable author who gifts her readers with unsurpassed and exquisite literary masterpieces.

I surprisingly really enjoyed Dark Alpha's Night; it's the fifth book in this series, but the first that I have read, and I first feared that I'd struggle with reading and enjoying this book since I have no idea what's going on in this world and what it's all about, but I actually caught on pretty easily when I just trusted that Donna Grant would once again take me on an epic adventure and make it easy for me to catch on to what is going on, and since I did trust her and went into this book with an open mind, it was easy for me to get the gist and enjoy all that was going on in Ettie and Daire's story.

Though truth be told it wasn't much of an adventure. This book is quite a short one compared to the others of Ms. Grant's that I have read, and it was quite fast paced too, so much so that I flew through this book. But given how fast paced it was, at times I felt like some conversations between characters' were ended abruptly when, to me, more could've been said, and other conversations were suddenly changed just for the sake of moving the story along. But hey, maybe that's just how the stories in this series is written, but given that I'm starting this series on the fifth book, I'm just not used to it and I wasn't prepared.

On any other day that would've annoyed me, and I would've given this book a rating lower than the four stars I'm giving it now because of how abrupt some scenes were, but today I needed that; I needed an action packed, insta-love story that I'd devour in a few short hours, and so luckily (today) this book was perfect for me.

And if you're currently looking to read a book with magic and action and romance involved - with amazing world-building and vivid descriptions that your mind will be blown by just how amazing this story is - then Dark Alpha's Night will be perfect for you too. Although I would suggest maybe reading this series in order; I'm going to soon, as I am now very intrigued about this world and these Reapers', and I honestly feel like I would've loved this story more if I knew the full story of this war between Death and her Reapers', and their dangerous ex-brother, Bran.

So overall I very much enjoyed this story, and I am now very excited to start reading more from Donna Grant - both from this series of hers and others - because her stories truly are amazing and unique, and she just has this way with words that make me want to life in her worlds and never leave, despite how dangerous they can be.

I am really enjoying this series and the only fault I had with it was it was a little short, this is the fifth book in the series and they really need to be read in order so you know who and what is going on. This was a great addition to the series and I loved watching Daire find love. This series just keeps getting better and better
