Interesting story about a competitive sailor and his struggles with mental illness. Learned a lot about sailing and Olympic competition. Also, fantastic insight into his bipolar episodes. Would highly recommend that people with loved ones suffering from mental illness to read this book to help them understand what their friend/family member is going through.

Interesting to read, I can’t think of anything that really stood out to me to write a review though.

It is heart wrenching to read this man's struggle with mental illness. I know as well the devastation this situation wreaks on his family. They are courageous, each in their own way. I knew of course of mania and manic/depression (bipolar disorder), but I had never heard of Truman disorder. The author has done an excellent job of describing both the disorder and the impact it has. I found the subject matter fascinating and the book well-written.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Kevin Hall is an all around overachiever--great student, front runner for the US Olympic sailing team--then it all crashes down when he's diagnosed bipolar. He's afflicted with The Truman Show delusion--when Kevin has an episode, he believes he's literally *in* an episode of a television show. Pilon interviewed Kevin and his family to provide different perspectives on how mental illness affects both the individual and those around them. A fascinating book. .
