Thank you to Macmillan-Tor/Forge publishing for allowing me to read a small preview excerpt of Sightwitch. All opinions and thoughts are my own and do not represent the publisher or author.

I really enjoyed this quick snapshot into Sightwitch. Ryber was a great character to read about and I loved the storyline. The formatting on my kindle made it extremely difficult to follow the story cohesively, as text and images were in the wrong spot or interrupted each other. Despite this, I enjoyed the small excerpt. I look forward to the entire book when it is published.

I was very disappointed when I realized that this was just an excerpt of Sightwitch, and I think it was very dishonest that this wasn't listed until after I got approval.
The formatting for this book was very confusing on my kindle, the story would break off and go into incoherent ramblings, and I especially disliked the bright red text for some parts. Because of the weird formatting I found I had a hard time getting into the story.
I liked Ryber, and I wanted to like the story. I'm giving this version three stars for now, but I plan on reading the full novella once it comes out next year. Hopefully then I can revise my review.

Baaah!! I was so bummed when I saw that this was an excerpt and not the actual book. Nevertheless, it was still an amazing preview. Ryber is definitely an interesting character, one that I really want to get to know a lot better. From what I've read so far, this will be an amazing book when it comes out. I cant wait to finish reading this one, and to start on Bloodwitch.

I've read the first 100 or so pages and I have to say, I'm not very impressed.
We basically see Ryber's, Kullen's girlfriend (Merik's threadbrother), past among the Sightwitches who are mysteriously disappearing. She's different from the other sightwitches and in the preview we can see the first part of her journey to save them and her threadsister.

For now it's a 3/5 but after reading the second part the rating may change (I hope so, The Witchlands is one of my all time favorite series!).

Electing not to read the excerpt as I'm waiting for the full book...

This wasn't listed as a excerpt so I was a tad disappointed when I saw that it was. Other than that, this is super exciting and I loved getting a glance into the book. So far, Ryber seems like a great character, and I love all the pictures we're getting. I also love the concept of Sightwitches and this makes me all the more excited for the release!

So, once I got over the disappointment of realizing I only got a preview from NG and NOT the entire novella, I read it, and it was as fabulous as I expected. I had previously talked about Sightwitch as a Can't-Wait Wednesday pick, and my excitement for this book has grown even more. This is Ryber's story, and Ryber was a character I wanted to know more about, because she was sort of shrouded in a little mystery. A few things got me excited in this preview. It's a Sightwitch diary that Ryber wrote for Kuller -- to help him remember! This gives me hope for him. I was destroyed when he was cleaved, because I was shipping him and Ryber really hard. Thanks for keeping the flame of hope lit, Susan Dennard. Also, tons of Sightwitch history and background regarding their magic and purpose is revealed through diary entries, pictures, book excerpts, and even songs. This "taste" made me even more excited to read the rest, and to find out how Ryber's "quest" turned out. My rating is based on only part of the book, and could very well change when I read the entire novella.
