Well written and interesting read. Characters are flawed but good. The storyline reads smooth, no major plot holes

For the baby's sake! The latest from Rochelle Alers is an easy, enjoyable read about an adorable baby that everyone wants a chance to love. The characters are likable from the start with a well laid out backstory, but the lack of conflict was a bit unrealistic. I kept waiting for a wrench to fall into their happy-go-lucky life, but other than one little spat, things were fairly calm and steady. Definitely a fun read!
When Marine Captain turned multi-million dollar real estate developer Giles Wainwright finds out he has a daughter out there that he knew nothing about, he steps up and wants her by his side. The only problem is, her mother left instructions in her will that she wants her sister to raise her in their hometown of Wickham Falls, WV. He's a busy man based out of New York City and traveling constantly to his development projects in the Caribbean ... how is this going to work??
Mya Lawson is blindsided when a month after her sisters death, a codicil to her will beckons Giles to a reading to inform him that he's a father. Sammie refused to tell her who he was and was adamant that she wanted Mya to raise her ... so why is she springing a daddy on her out of thin air? Giles claims he wants to do things her way and is there by their side to get to know Lily instantly, but she can't help but be suspicious. He seems too good to be true!

Emotional and sweetly romantic surprise baby story, that I really enjoyed reading!
Mya Larson has given up her position of college professor to become her niece’s legal guardian and stay-at-home mother, after her sister passed away. She never planned on becoming a mother, yet she had to learn quickly.
Giles Wainwright served as a captain in the Marine Corps for ten years and has recently joined his family’s real estate conglomerate. When he finds out about Lily being his daughter, he steps up to the plate and proves that the New York businessman he is can become a hands-on-father in a small town that seems to be stuck in time.
The main focus of the story is Giles’ growing relationship with Mya as well as the relationship with his new found daughter. Mya and Giles both want what’s best for baby Lily.
I really enjoyed Giles’s character. He was sweet and gentle. I loved that he was determined to be a father to Lily. Even though he thought he wasn’t ready for fatherhood, he instantly became Lily’s father. I really liked Mya’s character. I loved how caring and strong she was to walk away from her career and life, to step in and be guardian to her niece. It took me a while to feel a connection between Mya and Giles and at times I didn’t always feel how strong it was but I did like the dynamic of these two together. 3.5 Stars

I liked this book. I thought Giles was a very likable hero. I did dislike the fact that Mya’s sister kept Giles from his daughter. I also disliked how much Mya was trying to keep Giles away from her at first. I felt like regardless of the will if he really wanted to he could have gotten custody of his daughter especially with how powerful his family was. I needed a little time to warm up to Mya but that was because she was kind of an old school character. Her personality and traits are not what I expect from someone her age but I guess that has a lot to do with how she was brought up. I like the side that Giles brought out in here. I like that he was committed to her and his daughter from the beginning. He wanted his daughter but he wanted Mya too. Overall I think this was a really good read and I will most likely go back and read about the other Wainwrights.
