A really great read for primary school-age kids to tackle the topic of 'moods'. It is great to normalise the ups and downs of life, which can so quickly become medicalised as mental health problems. Moods are okay! I liked the contemporary graphics here, and thought the idea was well executed.

Great idea for a book and really well executed. A thoroughly good read. Highly recommended. .

Adorable! A great read for anyone kid or adult! We all have our "moods". This book is fun and witty. Definitely a book your 1st and 2 and grader will want to read and then read again!

Judy Moody books are classic and this one is no exception! Megan McDonald's writing is popular among many children and for good reason! The stories are fun and keep young readers wanting to read more and more until they reach the end. This book was a fun, fast-paced romp that delights all types of readers. Though I'm a reader in my early 20s, I still found this book to be a delight to read.

A cute read for elementary school kids. I love how Judy turns a disasterous moment into something positive like I teach my students. I’d have this in my classroom for kids in grades 1-4, depending on reading levels in my class.

I loved reading the Judy Moody books when I was growing up and I enjoyed the reread. Judy seems like a normal child. She has good days, bad days, and a wild imagination. Judy is a fun character that has a lot of solid interests- like her insatiable curiosity and desire to learn about being a doctor.
My concern, however, is her interactions with other children. Judy can be very nasty with her brother (example A: she calls him Stink) and her classmates. Most of the time she eventually makes amends but that shouldn't be an excuse.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect for grades 2-4th grade. I remember how much I love Judy Moody and her brother stink. This is definitely my go to for younger readers.

My 8 year old LOVES Judy Moody! This was a spacial treat for her to read this over summer break! Thank you!

Wow, this book is amazing. Characters that you will instantly fall head over heels for and stories that you can read over and over again. I immediately went and checked out more of this author's books. Fantastic!!

"Judy Moody Was in a Mood" is another great book in this series by Megan McDonald. Fun illustrations help emphasize the story line of a moody girl with some sass who loves to pick on her brother Stink. She is quite a character that middle elementary aged readers will love. I can see it motivating quite a few reluctant readers!
I would suggest this book for the 7-12 age category. It might be a tough read for some 7 year olds, but advanced readers with may be able to handle the humor and reading.
Thank you to the publisher and #NetGalley for a pre-publication ebook in exchange for an honest review.

"Judy Moody Was in a Mood" is another great book in this series by Megan McDonald. I do think Judy might be a teachers worst nightmare on the first day of school though! Judy is sassy and picks on her brother Stink as often as she can. She gets anxious and nervous for the first day of school which is a real challenge for many children. The first day of school ME assignment was fun and kept the plot consistent throughout the book. A recommendation would be to add a bit more love/hate relationship with Stink. I think the hate part is well established and it would be nice to see Stink and Judy work together a bit more.
I would suggest this book for the 7-9 age category. It might be a tough read for some 7 year olds but I think they would enjoy it. I would definitely recommend.
I also want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review this book.

This was a fun book, having read other JUDY MOODY books, I was familiar with the characters. Great middle school read for reluctant readers.

I was in the mood for this book! Great chapter book for kids! A learning curve for sure! Thank you too netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!

Judy Moody Was in a Mood is written by Megan McDonald and illustrated by Peter Reynolds.
This early reader chapter book focuses on the life of Judy Moody, as she starts third grade in a poor, grumpy mood. It's an entertaining and lesson-learning story for young children to read.
In the back of the book, there are bonus sections, including Q&As with the author and illustrator, Meet Judy Moody information, and Judy Moody Slang Dictionary.
Judy Moody Was in a Mood is geared towards young readers, particularly ages six to nine.
Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Another great story about Judy Moody -- the characters in this book are wonderful and the story is a delight for youth to enjoy. It is books such as this and the characters within that bring a joy of reading for kids -- that is a wonderful thing to do. Reading this is fun with stories kids understand and relate to in every word.

A good read, my son (9)and daughter(8) both like to read this series. I think this would be good to read to kids right before school starts. Hopefully a good reminder not to be so moody and to have an open mind when starting new things. Overall I liked this book.

Me and my son read this book together. He’s six and we enjoyed it. He thought it was really funny! Great chapter book for kids.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Candlewick for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I read these books to my daughter's longer ago than I would like to admit. This is a charming, engaging book. It reminds us all that everyone has good and bad days. You can turn your bad day around. Not quite a beginner reader book. I think still a fun longer bedtime story. Made me giggle. 4 stars

I am reviewing a copy of Judy Moody Was In A Mood through Candlewick Press and Netgalley:
Judy Moody Was In a bad mood. She is getting ready to start third grade and she doesn't have high-hopes. Her new desk won't have an armadillo sticker with her name on it, and the new classroom will not have a porcupine Named Roger. She'll probably end up stuck sitting in the first row, where Mr Todd will notice when she tries to pass a note to her best friend Rocky. Judy does have a little brother who comes in handy when she wants to practice being a doctor. She also has a cool new pet and an awesome band-aid collection.
Judy is also full of individuality and attitude and when Mr Todd assigns the class a project she finds that she is really able to express her individuality and attitude and let others get to know her.
I give Judy Moody Was In a Mood five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

Why yes, I am an adult who reads children books. I will be 80 and still reading picture books. It doesn't matter that books like this are targeted toward preteens or teenagers. I think it is sad if we get to a point in our life where we say "Well I'm XX now, can no longer enjoy that thing I used to enjoy..." It's fine if we naturally outgrow things of course, but don't force yourself to do so if you don't want to.
Judy Moody is a series I could have read when I was around the "right" age, not a preteen, but a teenager. I never read it because of pressure of trying to read things for my age or things that were above my reading level.
I was Judy's age once. It is fun to read about her silly adventures and put myself in her shoes. I never want to get to the point where I can't relate to younger (or older) characters.
Judy and her family are great. Kids of all ages, and kids at heart should get to know them.
