Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels are like my version of a warm, cozy sweater. I think I don't need another one, I think "I've used this comfy thing 30+ times, surely it can't be any different" and then I start reading.
As always, Alex and Milo are funny, fierce, and the best buddy cop bffs in the book world. This time we're on the hunt for a mystery killer who removed someone's hands and decimated their face, and then left them to be found in someone else's house. Our cast of suspects include a pompous salesman, a creepy cartoonist, multitudes of exwives and exflames, and a few mysterious strangers.
Kellerman builds suspense with a skill few have mastered, and creates an entrenched whodunit in every novel, and Night Moves is no exception. 4 stars for a fast, convoluted, encompassing mystery.

Lt. Milo Sturgis calls his friend and frequent LAPD consultant to look at an unusual crime scene with him. A family has returned home from a dinner out to find a dead body in their den. The Corvins are shocked, but say they don't know the victim. Now it's up to Milo and Alex to identify both the victim and the killer in this unusual case.

I've read all the prior books in this long-running series and I really like the main characters both individually and as an investigative team. However, each book in the series stands along, so it's easy for new readers to enjoy the book, even without reading the others. This is an interesting case that uncovers more and more questions and suspects before Alex's psychological insights help he and Milo get some answers. There is a lot to keep up with, but all is eventually explained, after a surprise resolution to the case. I know going in when I pick up a new book by Jonathan Kellerman, I'll be entertained by an intelligent mystery with likeable main characters. "Night Moves', like the other books before it, more than lived up to my high expectations.

I received this book from NetGalley, through the courtesy of Ballantine books. The book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Jonathon Kellerman is back with our friends Milo Sturgis,Detective and Alex Delaware, a psychologist advisor to the police. Their wonderful relationship has gone on for years, enduring the passage of time and the horrible situations they have been investigating. Milo again phones Alex late at night with a strange new murder. A family was out for supper , returned home and with everyone upstairs the father runs to the den downstairs to find a mutilated dead body! With the face totally blown off and hands removed it was time to investigate who the body is and why is it in this family's house?
The case becomes stranger, involving odd neighbors,a re-appearing young teen, totally dysfunctional family members...where do they start!
The characters are wonderful, plenty of different people to love or hate for their idiosyncracies., with suspenseful situations and lots of twists. The whole police unit along with Alex throw out different ways the story could go, but you won't know what happens until the eventful closing of the story!
I received the ARC of this book from Netgalley, the publisher,Random house-Ballantine and the author Jonathan Kellerman, all who I thank very much and from which I am able to share my views!
Another great Alex Delaware story, I feel as if he has been my own 'doctor' , reading about him from a young age until now!! Excited for him to continue!!

Yes! Another wonderful Alex and Milo book. How does Jonathan Kellerman keep doing it so well? The story pulled me in right from the first and kept going. A little gruesome but that’s part of the gritty reality that the author is known for. I have read each of the Alex Delaware books and this one was one of my favorites. Now I cannot wait for the next installment. Two thumbs up.

Fans of bestselling author, Jonathan Kellerman’s, Alex Delaware series will welcome the 33rd novel, Night Moves. Homicide detective Milo Sturgis, has called Alex into a murder investigation because of several angles in which he needs advice on the psychological aspects pertaining to a particularly baffling murder case. Chet Corvin and his family come home to discover a body in the study, a body with no face or hands, and the Corvin family is sure they don’t know him. Although they haven’t identified the body, they know of a neighbor who is extremely strange, and since that neighbor refuses to talk to the police, even Sturgis and Delaware put him on the suspect list. As the novel progresses, Chet is found murdered, and there is no reasonable motive.

Those familiar with Kellerman’s excellent writing know that the novel will have plenty of ups and downs, as well as building suspense and a wholly unexpected dénouement. The main characters have been developed throughout the 32 previous novels, so by this time they are familiar friends. Corvin, et al, have also been well-developed. For those readers who are not familiar with the series, it is recommended that they read the previous novels. However, there is enough background to introduce the characters, and Night Movescan also be read successfully as a stand-alone.

Over the years, Milo, Alex, and the other main characters have changed and evolved, so it is like reading about old friends. The novels most likely won’t be considered literary classics, but will be considered excellent thrillers. The others in the series, along with Night Moves are well-written, fast reads, and fans make them into best sellers as soon as they are released. This one is recommended.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Jonathan Kellerman has written yet another amazing installment in his Alex Delaware series! I LOVED this book, couldn't put it down & wish there was more to read. Books like this are the reason I wish I was not caught up on the series, five stars are not enough! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Pretty good read. A steady paced read that kept me guessing until the end. I enjoyed reading this book.

Alex Delaware is on his game again when his friend, Lieutenant Milo Sturgis, calls with a weird homicide.

True to his psychological nature, Alex delves into the possible meaning of this particular homicide and why this affluent family in the Palisades was targeted.

I have read every one of Jonathan Kellerman’s Alex Delaware novels and look forward to many more. One would think as Alex and Milo were getting older, they would start to lose their luster, but just the opposite. Their friendship is more like they’re brothers rather than just friends and they crimes they solve together are getting really strange, yet quite possible and have probably happened in real life.

Each novel can be read as a stand alone but you’ll get a better experience starting st the beginning of the series. Be warned though, there are thirty-something books to this series.

I can’t wait until the next one!!

The best company for a winter escape, this newest mystery in the popular series featuring Dr. Alex Delaware, ,, consulting psychologist to the LAPD when his detective pal Milo needs his help. This time it's a tangle of relationships between neighbors that begin to unravel when a family returns from dinner out to find an unidentified stranger missing his hands, dead in the den. With his characteristic skill at pacing, dialog and social psychological insight, the author ties up all the threads he finally untangle. That's the pleasure of a novel in any of his series. The reader in search of a reliable story with I)nteresting heroes (and heroines, usually supporting characters) will find it in almost all of Kellerman..'s extensive backlist, which includes several genre-busting standalone and several co-written with his wife Faye or his son Jesse. It's like a weekend with old friends - a family of talented writers.

There’s nothing greater than a new book from Jonathan Kellerman other than getting it for free from #NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. I don’t know how unbiased I can be since I have devoured all his books since they started coming out and I will probably end up buying this in hard cover because some books are just worth the hard cover. What can I say about this book: it’s Dr Alex Delaware and homicide detective Milo Sturgis at their best. A corpse is found when a family return from an evening out at a restaurant. What is probably the strangest thing is that no one can ID the body since the face has been carved off and the hands cut off and taken away. The only thing Milo and Alex is sure of is that the murder was not committed in the house because of the lack of blood. After that things really get twisted and sometimes very bizarre when people are not who they think they are. That’s all I can write without giving anything away. A great book I would recommend to anyone. One of my absolute favorite authors in the world. Thanks again #NetGalley and of course Jonathan Kellerman!

I've been reading Jonathan Kellerman novels for over 20 years, having picked up my first one as a college freshman. I always look forward to his Alex Delaware stories and purchase the books on their release day. I love the relationship between Delaware and Milo Sturgis. Was it a great book? Not compared to some of his earlier ones.

I have read the majority, if not all, of Jonathan Kellerman and his family members fictional offerings and was excited to receive this eARC. Alex Delaware and Milo Sturgis can always be counted on to be involved in extraordinary crime cases and also bring some necessary comic relief to some very dark stories. Night Moves was no exception to this formula. The story involved a complicated series of murders and kept you guessing who was good and who was bad, until the end.

Although Night Moves was not my favorite Jonathan Kellerman book, it was still a good story and well worth reading. I would encourage anyone who enjoys crime and psychological fiction to pick up any one of Kellerman's Alex Delaware novels. Although they are a series and are probably best read in order, there is enough information about the continuing characters in each book, to allow them to be read as stand alone novels. I think that if you read one you will be intrigued enough to search out and read all the rest.

This is number 33 in the Alex Delaware Series and Kellerman keeps pulling me in. His writing style and my reading style mesh perfectly.

Once you begin to read, you know you aren't stopping until the end. Alex and Milo have an easy-going friendship and working relationship. When Milo gets the call for this case, he calls Alex, as there are children traumatized as well as the adults who all came home to find a corpse in the den.

Right from the beginning something is off. About the crime, about the family and even the neighbors. There were so many red herrings in this book I wasn't sure who did what, who was just shady and who was downright insane!

None of what they had made sense. And in the end, well they always say beware of the quiet ones!

If you haven't tried Kellerman's books, why not? The writing is great, the pace is quick and the characters are always off the wall!

He has also written books with his wife, Faye Kellerman as well as his son.

Night Moves – Jonathan Kellerman

Milo Sturgis & Alex Delaware are back again, as they team up together to solve another perplexing case.
A family goes to dinner one night, only to return to find a corpse in their father’s study – and not just any corpse – there’s no blood, no clues as to his sudden appearance, and the victim is missing his face and his hands, making identification difficult. Milo Sturgis lands the case, and quickly asks Alex Delaware to assist. The family in question appears to cooperate, but reeks of dysfunction – the brash overbearing father, the meek timid mother, the quiet, reserved daughter, and the son who acts out loudly and inappropriately. But collectively, no one knows the identity of the body in their home, or has any idea who might have left it there…or why.

As missing persons reports eventually lead to the identification of the body, yet more questions arise, and the focus shifts to the reclusive neighbor, remembered for his unscrupulous cartoon drawings, yet rebuffs any interaction from his neighbors, or police. As Milo & Alex navigate each new lead, new motives, and long buried secrets are revealed, and the case reaches a stunning, yet unexpected conclusion!

This is Kellerman in top form!

Kellerman's who-dun-its are always a good read. This is no exception. He is a master of the murder mystery genre. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is his seemingly over complicated story line. It was difficult keeping the characters straight as to where they were part of the story.

Oh my GOD!!! How, after this many books, does this man still pull me in?

Milo calls Alex in for yet another murder. I love how Alex isn't even pretending that he doesn't enjoy helping out. It's not that he likes the murder, he likes helping to solve the puzzle and knowing that he's doing something for the greater good. Plus he gets to hang with his best friend.

I'll be honest, Alex is so vanilla. He sometimes drives me crazy. But I still like him. Now Milo, that's my dining companion for the "what fictional character would you have dinner with?" question. He's sweet and thoughtful, but he doesn't take crap from anyone.

Also, Alex has a dog. Blanche, a french bulldog who likes to fart and snore. How can you not love her?

Jonathan Kellerman still has it going, and I hope he keeps writing these books. They are always thrilling. And yes, you are kept wondering who done it right to the very end.

Can it really be that this is the 33rd novel featuring consulting psychologist Alex Delaware and unconventional homicide lieutenant Milo Sturgis?
Having read all of them, I always look forward to the next, and this one did not disappoint.

A faceless, handless body is discovered in the den of a family who is seemingly unrelated to the victim. As the investigation ensues, a second murder, a missing wife, family dysfunction, an eccentric neighbor and strange behavior by a teenage girl are all in the mix along with some unexpected revelations.

The Alex Delaware novels tend to be formulaic, but I enjoy them. Alex and Milo chase down leads, generate and discuss different theories, interview persons of interest, enjoy a few good meals. Kellerman’s descriptions are particularly picturesque and entertaining.

Kellerman does not disappoint in his latest Alex Delaware novel. This installment takes Alex and Milo on the trail of a killer who racks up dead bodies like they are loose change.

Jonathan Kellerman's most recent novel Night Moves is very interesting to me or several reasons. I always have enjoyed mysteries other novels with a psychological twist. This book certainly has enough characters with major social emotional problems to keep Alex Delaware involved for quite a while. The murder mystery keeps the reader involved to the satisfying conclusion. The many twists and turns in the plot keep the reader involved as well. The ending surprised me.
All Dr. delaware fans will enjoy reading this interesting and challenging novel.

I love the Alex Delaware series. This book starts right out with a dead body. The victim has been shot in the face and his hands have been removed, making identifying him difficult. The plot is intricate, moves along at a good clip and will keep you interested. There are also quite a few twists in the story that will keep you guessing. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
