A quick read about slime that is told in rhyme. I enjoyed this one and think that it would go over well with kids who are into making slime and playing with slime, which seems to be an ongoing thing these days. I thought it would be a fad that would pass, but kids I know have been into slime for 3+ years now. I liked that this was written as a poem and that the two kids work together to get their slime and make it, although where it goes from there, well ....

The illustrations could have been a bit sharper for me - not really to my taste - and I found that it was a bit stuck between an early reader/read aloud and a bit more of an advanced reader based on words per page and some of the poem. There were also moments when the poem felt forced in order to make a rhyme work. That's what kept this from being a 4 star read.

From the title, I originally expected this to be a recipe book for making different types of slimes and gooey things. It is actually a book about a slime adventure, in rhyme. Different, but I think that my younger student readers would enjoy this book. Plus, reading it aloud (in rhyme) would be a different sort of out-loud reading practice.

My son is young so that could've been the issue, but this didn't keep either of engaged. I could, however, call it a page-turner because we were rushing to get to the end.

Professor McNasty's Collection of Slimes is a fun story about a pair of siblings and their ADVENTURES with slime!! Slime is a super hot hobby right now and this book is a funny introduction to the often unpredictable slime. I received this ARC from Netgalley and read it with my very own slime queen - who gave it 5 stars. I would recommend this book for any children that already obsessed by slime - bonus points to the author, Chris Bickley, for pointing out the importance of following the directions ;)

This was fun! I know kids who love slime! I remember me and my friends enjoying it too way back in the 70's! A whole story to a house taken over by it was pretty fun and I am sure the humor won't be lost on young slime lovers!

I really wanted to like this book. I really did. It is massively overlong. Each page is a jumble of words. The author does a decent job to get it to rhyme, but loses the cadence frequently. Plus the sheer number of words on the page. Maybe if pages and illustrations were added to help space things out. It reads as one long run on sentence. Some kids work hard to order a gallon on slime. When it comes it, it’s ingredients to make the slime, but they don’t read the instructions. So slime takes over the house. I like the idea, but it’s not executed well.

This was a cute book about slime gone wrong. Slime taking over the entire house and the kids zany attempt to get it under control before their parents find out. I think children would enjoy the rhyming text and colorful illustrations. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't include any slime recipes- since part of the title is "Collection of Slimes" and it was listed in the craft and hobby category.

I  recieved a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
I'm always on the lookout for new books for the kids in my life, and I am so happy to have stumbled upon this gem!
This is a fun, silly story with rhyming couplets. I can't wait to pick up a copy or two for others.

Professor McNasty's Collection of Slimes is an illustrated rhyming book aimed at younger readers. It's short (32 pages) and available in ebook and paperback formats. Author Chris Bickley's silly rhyming narrative is paired with Brenda Ponnay's cute digital art. The book is published by Xist Publishing and was released 1st Dec, 2017.

It really is quite cute and the art is quirky and fun. The things which I personally found less than ideal with the book will almost certainly not be issues for the vast majority of readers. First, there are a lot of places where the scansion is all over the place. The grammar and syntax are often incomplete or really twisted to make a rhyme (and the punctuation suffers mightily as a result). This makes the text difficult to read out loud. I don't know how much that will bother anyone but me. The typeface (Garamond) also seemed a bit lackluster given the wacky nature of the story. It's a very old, regal, staid and static typeface which seemed at odds at times with the frenetic story. There are a few places where the art textures and backgrounds are also not centered. Again, my problems with the story and art are relatively minor and really won't detract from the book for the majority of people.

I liked that the kids worked and saved toward a goal by cooperating. I liked that the whole family pulled together when things went wrong and solved problems together. I loved the punchline at the very end of the book. There is a lot to like here.

Three and a half stars. Very cute book.

Sarah and Sam want to order Professor McNasty's slime. They work for their parents and neighbors to get the $22.50 they need to send away for the ingredients. They wait and wait for it to arrive when finally postman Jim delivers the package. Sarah and Sam make the slime, but it continues to grow and grow and grow. Until it takes over the house. Finally, mom and dad arrive back home and help the kids clean up the slimy mess.
Ths is a fun book to read with kids and the illustrations are great also, even if there is a lot of green slime in them, haha

Rhyming couplets tell the story of young siblings who want to buy some slime. They even take odd jobs from the lady next door to raise the money, the text proving how serious they are by including, “There’s no time for fun.” Unfortunately, like most things bought on the internet, some assembly is required. Even more importantly: read the friggin’ instructions!
Some people will appreciate the rhymes, others won’t. For me it made the story cuter, which is necessary when you’re battling slime, even in a comic context. The illustrations made it even more fun. I did find it annoying that Mom was most worried about her dress.

This was a fun story that teaches you all about the importance of reading instructions before you act! I liked the images and the story rhymed which made it enjoyable and really easy to follow - 4 stars

This is a fun and endearing story about a slime that takes over! Children will love the predicament and the humor as a result. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. I loved the rhyming words style because it helps early readers. Overall, a wonderful read that children will enjoy immensely.

Thank you to the authors, the publisher, and Netgalley, for the opportunity to read and review.
