A well written and an easy to read romance novel with little angst, a lot of passion, a bit predictable plot and a heroine who carried the story with her strong character.
This was the age-old story of accidental pregnancy after a one night stand that should have never happen. There's the billionaire, the strong heroine who grew up alone, and family who causes drama. There was nothing that I didn't like about the story, it is a good, solid tale about falling in love and dealing with your past.
Jack Maclean was not as strong and confident as I would have preferred. He is stuck in his past, he has not dated since his wife died four years ago. A wife who was pregnant and was the love of his life since the tender teenage years. He is lost in his mind, has no idea what he wants from the future, I felt like he was unraveling right in front of my eyes. He was not in touch with his feelings, would rather avoid them or talking about them giving Stella Grant a challenge to get through to him.
But Stella was well equipped for the challenge. She had made a mistake in the past by trusting a wrong man and Jack didn't seem much more promising prospect. But Stella is strong, professional, capable to take care of herself, successful with her career, and in no need of Jack to rescue her or to take care of her or the baby on the way. It is Jack's choice just how much involved he wants to be with the baby.
Stella and Jack fumble with emotions, communications, and family drama surrounding them. They try to get to know each other and learn as much of each other as they are comfortable with sharing, it just seems that Jack's limits are tight and involve no feelings what so ever.
Scorching hot passion, difficult emotions, the enticing setting of Scotland countryside alternating with the busy London, provided a good, solid romance story, a great getaway for an evening.

His Best Mistake by Lucy King is such a captivating and fascinating story. I simply read it in one sitting. I could not put it down. It´s such a page turner. It´s so emotional and touching and I can´t wait to read the sisters story.

WOW!!! I loved reading His Biggest Mistake by Lucy King, book one in The Maclean Family Legacy series. Stella Grant is heartbroken when she learns her boyfriend is a lying cheat and that she’s actually the other woman. Escaping to her remote cottage in Scotland seems like a good idea. Jack Maclean wants answers to why Stella tried to steal his sister’s fiancé, but he didn’t anticipate getting stranded in a remote area of the Highlands, nor falling for this woman. Neither Stella nor Jack are looking for a romantic partner, no matter how much chemistry they share; however both are very much in need of being loved. One night of shared passion leads to unexpected consequences that bring them back together.

I loved reading this book and didn’t want to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. King is a wonderful story teller drawing me into her books, making me forget the world around me. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A passionate tale about two emotionally broken characters and the one night that changes their lives forever.

When Jack Maclean set out to find Stella Grant, the girl who broke up his sister’s engagement, he had no idea what to expect. He especially didn’t expect to be so drawn to Stella. He hadn’t thought of another woman since his wife’s death four years earlier.

Stella was not in the market for a man after she was used and lied to by Brad, but she sure was attracted to Jack when he showed up at her house. She tries to fight her feelings, but in the end she gives in. Besides, what could just one night together hurt?

I really liked this book. I felt the connection between Stella and Jack right away. The story felt real and honest, like it could happen to anyone. It is the perfect start for a new series. I can’t wait to read the next book to learn more about Jack’s sister, Cora.

This book is sooo good! Lucy King has created two characters who are perfect for each other even if it takes !while for each of them to realise it. I loved the Englishness of this story.
The quaint little exclamations that came out with really turned her int a real person for me while Jack, a thoroughly modern businessman, is the quintessential English gentleman, holding his emotions close to his chest and issuing edicts in a way that I always associate with Englishmen.
The plot held me from the first. I loved that Stella was constantly surprising Jack with her responses to the things he said and did. Clearly the setting is contemporary England and Scotland, one of my favourite places in all the world so while that didn't hugely impact in the story, it was an added bonus for me. The mention of Little Snoring, a tiny Norfolk village I visited last time I was in England, had me drowning in pleasant memories.
All in all, His Best Mistake has been a thoroughly satisfying read.

This one was a really great read. I really enjoyed the storyline. Two people that shouldn't work, shouldn't be together, yet are undeniably drawn to each other. When one night of passionate alters both their lives forever they are forced to spend time together and ultimately face the feelings they have for one another. Letting go of the past can be hard though. You'll want to read Jack and Stella's story as they face life together.

Definitely a recommended read.

This is my first read by this author. The premise drew me in. I enjoyed the female lead quite a bit. But I have to say that overall, the story tellinig was just ....ehhhh.... Not too exciting but not too disappointing either. I will give the sister's story a try before totally giving up on the series.

3 1/2 stars...
Stella found out she was The Other women in a relationship. She wanted to unplug her life from everyone so she was in cottage until everything died down. When the Other Women’s brother shows up at her cottage, things gets interesting.
Billionaire Jack wanted to help his sister Cora and he decides to pay a visit to Stella, “the Other Women”. When he finds her, she doesn’t seem like the person Cora describes as the evil wrecker. When his car was stuck and needed to spend a night.. That night turns in to more than a night for both.
Stella finds out she is pregnant and decides to tell Jack. Now they have to figure out what they will do for this baby.
Both do have secrets they still keep from each other and it driving them apart Now they have to find away to learn about each other before baby is due. .

I didn’t love the story but I didn’t hate it. There were little too much of angst for both characters and it did get in the way of the storyline.

Thanks to Netgalley and Tule Publishing for my ARC in exchange for honest review.

A great start to a new series. Jack has come to Stella to confront her on breaking up the engagement of his sister only to find to find him in a situation that will change his life. Get ready for a roller coaster of emotions that will take you on the ride of your life. Where they can't deny the chemistry between them but will it last for a life time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so many emotions that Jack was going through, so afraid to open his heart again. Stella is use to being on her own, a very strong person. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. A quick read that I highly recommend.

This book proves that there are always two sides to a story. I loved the storyline because it was original and very different from your average love story. Even though Jack thought Stella was a jezebel the chemistry between the two could not be denied. The fact that they both had somewhat tragic backgrounds just made the love story that much sweeter.

This was an easy reading romance novel. You knew exactly what was going to happen but it was still an enjoyable read.

This was first time read for me by this author. I liked how she created a "real" scenario and not some fake unbelievable love story. I enjoyed the fact she made he main characters Stella and Jack like a real couple that would not make it at the end of the book. I do wish the author would not give her pregnancy away on the front cover. Did really enjoy the quick read

Stella is trying to get away from everyone and everything after she found out that she was the “other woman.” She never wanted to be that person and is sick to think that the man she’d been dating for 3 months was engaged to someone else. She’d been at a cottage in the Scottish Highlands for almost a month when a truck starts up her drive. The driver is none other than Jack Maclean, the brother of the woman who was heartbroken when she found out her fiancé was two timing her.

Jack is pissed off on his sister’s behalf but he eventually gives Stella a chance to tell her side of things and he realizes that he believes her when she says she had no idea that she was dating an engaged man. At that point Jack is satisfied with that issues but he can’t seem to get his lusty thoughts off of Stella. They both know it’s a horrible idea to sleep together but they do anyway and lo and behold, Stella gets pregnant. Talk about a sticky situation.

Stella is willing to let Jack off the hook or even let him in completely (in the baby’s life) if that’s what he wants. Jack is more than willing to be by her side 24/7 but there are reasons behind that. Jack, however, has no idea what he’s doing or feeling and when he realizes that he might be falling in love with Stella he calls it quits.

In this story Stella is pretty alone. She basically raised herself and her parents are so into their own dramas that they barely noticed they had a daughter. Stella was a bit traumatized by that so she had kind of been looking for love in all the wrong places. She tended to fantasize about a guy before she ever got to know him. I think it’s something we’ve all done from time to time. With Jack she really didn’t do all that much fantasizing until after she got pregnant.

Jack had had some hard knocks in his life but now he was a billionaire and who was so invested in his work he hadn’t had sex in 4 years. Well, there were other reasons he hadn’t had sex in that long but he never imagined he’d end up having it with the woman who broke his sister’s heart. Once he found out that Stella was pregnant he acted kind of like a nut case. Yes, again, big reasons why that was but it just didn’t endear the man to me in any way. He was so on again, off again with Stella that I wanted to smack him upside the head and say, “Snap out of it!” In the end I thought that Stella was too good for him and I wanted him to grovel more to even get a little bit of attention from her. But maybe that was just me, IDK.

This was a novella that sounded so very good but in the end didn’t really work for me. There was nothing truly wrong with it but as I read the last page I laid down my Kindle and thought “meh” which is never a good thing.

A wonderful story, and although not long it felt complete. Stella has gone to her cabin in the back area of Scotland, to escape the pain of learning the man she was dating was engaged to another. When Jack, the brother of the woman (Cora) cheated on shows up the sparks fly. When she finds out she is pregnant she lets him know, but doesn't expect much from him. The progress of both of them overcoming their pasts and learning to love again was sweet. I enjoyed this story much more than I thought I would. It struck a cord with me, and gave me a warm feeling. Highly recommend it, and now onto the next in the series.

An enjoyable quick read. This is the first I have read from this author and I would read more. The story was predictable but well written the relationship between Jack and Stella was lovely to read, they both had (genuine) issues from their past which were quite different but resulted in them both being hesitant to take their relationship further, A nice easy read a lovely way to spend a winters afternoon.
