There are amazing come-back stories here. Very inspirational. The problem I had is the level of career minutiae that bogged things down for me. I realize this wouldn't be a problem for a sizable number of the presumed target audience. I guess I'm not enough of a sports aficionado to appreciate this level of detail and I was attracted to the book more for the inspiration aspect. Certainly the book is well-researched and the subjects chosen for good reasons.

My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

As always, I love it when the title tells you everything you need to know.
From the first chapter on it felt like each was way too long. It’s half interview, half bio, and there’s so much extraneous that I find myself skipping over, or at least skimming, through entire pages. Don’t need to know every player’s batting average or ERA.
All the superfluous material makes it hard to keep interest throughout a chapter; pretty sure I didn’t read more than one each sitting. By the end, especially with the baseball stories, they sounded the same. Can’t shake the feeling this would have been much better if it was much shorter.

Inspirational, entertaining and the stories of these well known people are uplifting. John Schenk was a sports agent by age 16 (he is now 25) and George Castle is the legendary Chicago sports writer. They've created a fabulous book that all ages will enjoy.
