Thank you Netgalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This is the the best of the DI Hillary Greene books yet and we still have 7 more to go, can't wait!
DS Janine Tyler is marrying Detective Superintendent Philip Mallow in a few days, but her happiness is blighted by a nasty stalker. Can Hillary help her?
In the meantime the team, which includes new DS Keith Barrington, is called to the murder of an elderly woman. Stabbed in the heart with her own letter opener, it's hard to understand who would kill her; she was very well liked, with not a penny to her name and on top of that, she was a few weeks away from death by cancer. She just wanted to make it to her birthday and Christmas, looking forward to spending her benefits cheque on a little birthday party.
Hillary is one of my favorite characters. She's a smart, independent woman in her mid forties and an admired thief taker. Her team is happy working with her, except for DS Frank Ross, but then he doesn't like anyone, so who cares?
This has become a series I enjoy immensely and the fact it basically has one murder per book is appreciated, there are no serial killers, which is a relief!
Looking forward to the next one...

Murder at Home is book 6 in the DI Hillary Greene series by Faith Martin, it was first published as “With A Narrow Blade”.

I love everything about this series, I am totally hooked. When I have finished a book I am eagerly awaiting the next release. There is something about the characters and setting that really draws me in, when I settle down to read one of the books in this series it feels comfortable like meeting with old friends.

Ok so you know I was excited to read this one, it didn’t disappoint. I really feel like each book in the series gets better and better. This was an intriguing case. Who would murder an old lady who is dying of a terminal illness? Who indeed! Hillary and her team are on the case and it’s not long until the clues start rolling in. It was a really enjoyable story with a great ending that I didn’t see coming, I wouldn’t have guessed this one in a million years.

Not only does Hillary have to deal with a murder but someone close by is stalking her DS Janine which is a bit worrying so she has this on her mind to solve and deal with as well. Janine is due to marry Mel in a couple of days so doesn’t need the stress and aggravation of a stalker.

I really enjoyed this book and read it in super quick time as I found it really hard to put down. The story was captivating, I just love the characters and it was very cleverly written. Faith Martin is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

This was a brilliant book, Faith Martins best one to date, it was a cracking read. I am giving it a gigantic 5 stars.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A REVISED EDITION OF A BOOK FIRST PUBLISHED AS “WITH A NARROW BLADE.”

MURDER AT HOME is the sixth in a series of page-turning crime thrillers set in Oxfordshire, featuring DI Hillary Greene and her team. DC Keith Barrington is introduced as a new member of the team. He comes with baggage ... during his last post he belted his supervisor. Does he have a violent temper? And how will he fit in with this new team?

Greene is also concerned about her sergeant, Janine Tyler. Her wedding day is fast approaching to Superintendent Philip Mallow. But something is bothering Janine and Greene takes it upon herself to fix the problem.

An elderly lady is found stabbed to death in her own home. Flo Jenkins was well thought of by her neighbors. She has/had no family except for a grandson, who had been "borrowing" money from her to pay his drug dealers.

What the postmortem reveals puts a new light on this murder. Who would want to kill a woman who was already dying?

I have been most pleased to be able to read this series from the very beginning. Each one seems to get better and better. DI Hillary Greene is one of my favorite characters. She's feisty, but fair, and has overcome a lot to get where she is now. I really enjoy the mix of professional life with her personal life.

This is a well-written crime thriller and features what I have come to expect from this author's books .... an excellent story premise with suspense, characters that are credible, secondary characters that lend so much to the story, multiple suspects that are not easy to ferret out and an exciting, surprising ending.

Many thanks to the author / Joffe Books / Netgalley for the advance digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This book has come out previously with a different title, it is part of a series featuring DI Hillary Green and set in Oxfordshire. An elderly woman is murdered with a paperknife in her armchair. She was expected to die in the near future anyway, who could possibly want to kill her? DI Hillary Green has faced numerous tribulations and is all at sea when it comes to this case. There is no evidence or clues to go and no-one who appears to have sufficient motive. Supported by her superior and friend, DCI Philip Mallow aka Mellow, Hillary has to dig deep to get anywhere. This mystery is set in the Oxfordshire town of Bicester this time. An entertaining and absorbing novel. Many thanks to Joffe Books for an ARC.
