I recommend the book. A good story to read during the weekend at the cottage. Interesting story.

Oh-so-not what I expected. Readers of romance novel that also involve lowly girl who becomes a great chef, will love this book. I mean the story seems to be well written. Just not my style. Really wrong genre for me.
I am giving it 4 star for the explained reason I thought it well written for a romance.

Could not get into this book. Much to much foul language.

Sadly, I could not get into this book. I felt the heroine was entirely to annoying and could not push past 27% after trying to pick it back up a few times. I will not be leaving a review on my Goodreads since I do not like to review books that I have not completed. Thank you for the opportunity to read Sugar and Spice and All Those Lies.

This book I would totally buy from the cover, it's beautiful.
The synopsis also caught my attention, explaining itself, showing a woman who had a talent, to cook, and knew to take the chance to go to work in one of the most prestigious restaurants.
But when it comes to love life, Gina is a big knot.

What could be a good romance, between her and Leon, the spoiled millionaire, ends up having no chemistry (at least, not for me). From there comes Detective Brent, also handsome and perhaps a little more suitable for Gina, but she seems to be lost as to what would be best for her in this matter.

I love cookery-themed books, even better when they bring tips on how to cook better (recipes are welcome too). But the story of Gina-Leon-Brent did not captivate me.
3 stars

There are some good points about this book- the writing was decent and it was a fast, easy read. I also liked the ties to cooking. Food does have such strong ties to memories, family, and special occasions and I liked how that was incorporated into the story. However, there were a few negative points that outweighed the good. The story was too simple with some weird, confusing parts included I'm guessing in an attempt to add depth to the story. They didn't work for me. I couldn't connect with the too beautiful main character that has won guys attention at first glance her whole life- even her best friend's boyfriends. She seems to shun those that judge her on her appearances, but then she does the same thing with the two guys she is in a love triangle with. And I could not get behind liking either guy- the excessively rich spoiled guy who she says has a sweet, kinder side but its not really shown to us and the tormented cop with the "sad eyes". There is talk of love and commitment, but its all based on attraction and first impressions, not on anything solid or worthwhile, despite her abhorrence for those that judge by those standards. Confusing book and then you get to the ending and I kept thinking, "What!?! Where did that come from?" It was weird. Sorry
