The Road to Magnolia Glen is the second book in this series. I haven't read the first book, so I wasn't sure if that would impact my enjoyment of this book....I don't think it did. I was able to easily follow along and keep track of the characters.

The characters were fine. I liked how protective Quinn was and would probably say he was my favorite character.

All in all, The Road to Magnolia Glen was a good read and one I think historical romance fans will enjoy.

I love this authors stories. I very much enjoyed all of the characters and their abilities to make me smile and yes even laugh out loud at times.
I think the best part of this book was the way it made hold my breath waiting to see what would happen in certain scenes.
Pam has done an excellent job in taking me back to Mississippi and I also enjoyed how she slipped some Faith in there as well.
I'm just enjoying this series immensely!
I'm thankful I was able to grab an early copy from Netgalley. NO compensations were received. All opinions are my own

I enjoyed this book which was just as enjoyable as the first one. I was initially saddened upon discovering that Quinn blamed his brother for their separation over the years but despite all that he still decided to take his younger brothers across and deliver them safely to their older brother before going out to explore life. While trying to empty his plate of responsibilities he accidentally adds more responsibility to his plate in the form of three sister Keira, Amelia and Megan and time and time again finds himself coming to their rescue, from breaking them out of a brothel to the smaller things like making life more comfortable for them. I was glad his relationship with his brother was repaired and also glad that he was never outwardly rude, despite his initial bitter feelings towards him.

A slight observation, wherever there seem to be 3 sisters... the first one is always the responsible one trying to watch out for her younger sisters. The second one tends to be the pretty one who turns the heads of all the boys (it more often than not leads to a bigger situation) and the youngest is always the baby everybody dotes on. I'm just observing as this is the third book I've seen like this.

It was good to see old and new characters. I liked the banter between the two main characters and their interactions in general, even the more serious ones. The men who worked there were always interesting, the only slight disappointment I had was when they interacted with the Native Americans, perceiving them as a threat and treating them as such even when they were together with a native american who lived among them and could easily talk to them and straighten out any misunderstandings. All in all an interesting read and I look forward to any other books in the series.

Having not read the first of this series, I was surprised by the swift start! No sooner had I been introduced to our lead characters than they were in dire straits, being rescued and off to Breeze Hill Plantation! The whirlwind start lead onto more quick-paced adventure, Quinn and Kiera have quite the arrival to America! Beautifully written, The Road To Magnolia Glen narrates the journey from bitterness to healing in several characters and, for our main two, the meaning of home and importance of family. Despite having read several frontier orientated novels recently, the brutality of the time still sobers me and I’m grateful for the progress we’ve made since the 1700s! If you are looking for action, romance, history and Christianity all in one book this is your go-to! I look forward to reading the rest of the series! Highly recommended and five out of five!

Wonderful book! One of my favorites released this year!

From the details of plantation life all the way to the major plotline of human trafficking, this story was riveting. I so enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching them fall in love as they faced the challenges of survival, keeping their siblings out of trouble, and searching for a place to truly belong. I have also added this book to a Goodreads List of Christian Romance with Swoon-Worthy Kisses! Such a sweet romance. I love how protective the hero is of his lady, even when he denies his attraction for her and knows their goals in life are far different. The game-changer characters blew me away, and I loved how volatile things became when these characters were on the page. Seeing Connor and Julia again brought back sweet reader-memories of their love story, while following their current realistic set of life challenges. Pam Hillman has produced another Southern classic! Can't wait until the third book in the series!

I recommend reading The Promise of Breeze Hill, the first in the Natchez Trace series before reading this book for all the background information. Lots of action in the historical story about three girls immigrating to Natchez during the time people were indentured in payment for passage. The girls did not know that they're brother-in-law had in fact indentured them to fulfill his own debts. Kiera, the oldest believed she getting married but finds out things aren't as she believed. Quinn O'Shea, also an immigrant befriends the girls aboard the ship during the voyage. History comes alive during this story. Recommended!

The Road to Magnolia Glen by Pam Hillman is book 2 in her Natchez Trace series. This book can definitely be read as a standalone novel, which is what I did. The characters in this book were well developed and had a lot to grapple with through the course of this book. I love how the author wrote authentically in the time period while still delivering a story full of action that kept you reading. I think readers that love historical fiction will be please with this book. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I am reviewing a copy of The Road to Magnolia Glen through Tyndale House Publishers and Netgalley:
This book transports us first to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean in 1792 and then to Natchez Mississippi where we meet Quinn O'Shea who has traveled all the way from Ireland bitter because his older brother Connor took off leaving him with the responsibilities now it's time for Quinn to go on an adventure of his own.
When Kierra arrives in the colonies she realizes the marriage that she was made to believe was not to take place, that in fact her brother in law had something far worse planned for her sisters.
Quinn cannot let Kierra or her sister go through the plans his brother Connor has for them so he indentures himself to his brother in order to save Kierra from that kind of life and pain.
I give The Road To Magnolia Glen five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

An intriguing, suspenseful love story with compelling characters. I did not realize until I finished the story that this was a second book in a series, so this book does great as a stand-alone story. Highly recommend this one!

Quinn finds himself with a big change in plans . He plans to come to Mississippi and make a way on his own, but soon finds himself helping the Young sisters as they too are on their way to Mississippi as well. The Young sisters have come over from Ireland planning to start a new life, but soon find that the life that was planned for them is not the life they were actually coming to. Soon The sisters and Quinn find a new overlapping direction than what was planned.
I liked how Quinn gave in and took responsibility even though he did not have to and was trying to have a more carefree life. This became even more relevant when it became apparent what was really going on . I liked seeing the relationship grow between Quinn and Kiera and the seeing what life was like on the Breeze Hill Plantation.

Pam Hillman has weaved together an intriguing story of hope and mystery. It's a fast-paced novel about longing for both freedom and belonging, with plenty of action in the fight for it. Each character faced unexpected hurdles upon their arrival at Natchez. Quinn was expecting to hand off his younger brothers to their eldest brother Connor so that he'd be able to have his own adventures. Kiera was expecting her journey to lead her to a respectable man and his hand in marriage. Neither one of them got what they expected, but God was certainly with them.

I love that this story really had two main characters. This wasn't your typical "prince rides in on a white horse to save the day" type of a romance. Both Quinn and Kiera had their mountains that they were facing, and the author did an amazing job of developing each of them as they matured both personally and relationally (and not only with each other). It gave the story a whole different level of depth and really made it come to life even more.

This is definitely one of those stories I would recommend starting earlier in the day. It certainly wasn't one that was easy to put down. It's no easy feat for an author to create a story with just enough action and suspense for it to be believable without going over the top. It's also not easy to create a believable romance without being to sappy or cheesy. Pam Hillman was able to successfully achieve the perfect level of action, suspense, and romance to keep readers engrossed and captivated until the very last page.

I absolutely loved this story! My only regret is that I didn't look enough into reading the first book first because I was told they were stand-alones in a series. While I was easily able to read this story as it was, I was also wishing I could know more about the eldest O'Shea brother Connor and his bride Isabella. Now that I've finished the book, I looked and saw that their story is what book #1 is about. So allow me to personally recommend starting at the beginning!

This was my first time reading a book by Pam Hillman but I'm sure it won't be my last! As of right now I don't see another book set to release in the series, but the O'Shea brothers do have another brother who ran off and was talked about a few times throughout the book, so I'm curious of another will come out to follow him. I know right now I'm currently left wanting to go farther with the characters, so my hope is definitely that there will be more to come. This is a series I highly recommend.

This was a great second book in this series.

Kiera is a strong character, determined to do what is needed to keep her sisters safe.

Quinn is a wonderfully stubborn hero who has his plans while God has another.

I could easily see the Genesis 5020 stories in the character’s lives. What the enemy could have used for harm God uses for good.

I also enjoyed meeting up with characters from the first book…well, not all the characters. Some of them are truly evil.

I kept waiting for something bad to happen, you knew it was coming it was just a matter of time.

I did feel the first almost kiss was a bit rushed. I didn’t feel the moment at all. But when it came time for the actual kiss, that one I felt was the right timing.

Have no fear if you haven’t read the first book, you can still thoroughly enjoy this one.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley.com. All opinions are my own.

I was thrilled to travel back to the Natchez Trace in this second novel from Pam Hillman. With vivid details and engaging characters, I was transported into this exciting story of betrayal and learning to trust God when things seem their darkest.

After the death of her step-father, Kiera Young and her two younger sisters are sent to Natchez, Mississippi. Kiera was told that her brother-in-law arranged a marriage for her, but it was something else entirely that was arranged. Kiera’s faith in God is tested as she learns to wait on God’s perfect timing.

Quinn O’Shea carries a heavy burden of bitterness toward his older brother for leaving the family in Ireland and for having to take on the responsibility of his younger brothers. Quinn wants nothing more than to see his younger brothers safely to their older brother, before setting off on his own grand adventure. However, he didn’t foresee his hearts entanglement with a feisty blond Irish lass, nor the guilt at leaving his brother’s behind. Will Quinn be able to let go of the bitterness and hurt of the past to have a future filled with love and laughter?

This spellbinding story is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I was kept up late into the night, turning pages eager to find out what would transpire in the lives of these charming characters. I give this story 4.5 stars and would encourage you to pick up a copy to enjoy!

Readers of The Promise of Breeze Hill will enjoy revisiting the plantation. But those who haven’t won’t be left out. Author Pam Hillman balances details of the previous book while weaving an entirely new and unique story for Quinn and Keira with precision (though I do suggest you start with the first book because Connor and Isabella’s story is totally worth the read).

There is a bitter seed planted in Quinn O’Shea’s heart. He’s the one who stayed to care for his two younger brothers while the other two sowed their wild oats. Now his plan is to deposit the boys with Connor in Mississippi and, once he’s certain they’re settled, explore the world.

Kiera Young has no say in her journey to America. Her brother-in-law arranged a marriage for her and sent her and her two little sisters across the ocean. Now, Kiera simply wants to be useful, find a home, and protect her sisters from the sinister plot she is unwittingly embroiled in. But is Breeze Hill the place that will offer that?

In addition to the brisk-paced action scenes that had me turning pages as fast as I could, Hillman weaves a picture of daily life on a plantation that is in a rebuilding stage in the 18th century. There are challenges, dangers (both from man and from nature), and more work than bodies to do it. There is also fierce determination. Friendships are formed, walls are broken down, and people discover skills and courage they didn’t realize they had in them.

And I have to mention those O’Shea accents! Those tough but kind-hearted Irish brothers and their Irish brogue can make a girl swoon!
The Road to Magnolia Glen is engaging with a storyline that hooked me in from the get-go and slowly reeled me into the heart-pumping, adrenaline-inducing ending. Now, my only question is, how long do I have to wait from more of the O’Shea clan?

This is the second book in the Natchez Trace series. You don't necessarily have to read the first book in the series, but it definitely helps fill in the gaps with this sequel. From the very beginning, there is a lot of action going on. As Kiera and Quinn cross the Atlantic with their siblings, tension builds as Kiera knows that she is on her way to her intended in America. When they arrive, the tension doesn't stop but keeps building up as there is evil in their midst. While they manage to escape for the moment, the evil lurks throughout the novel, which helps maintain the suspense even as the story transitions to Breeze Hill Plantation.

Pam Hillman continues to write strong characters in this sequel, just as there were in the first novel. The previous characters do reappear and contribute to the plot and suspense. There was a good amount of clean romantic tension as well, which is always my favorite ; ). Quinn and Kiera both go on a journey of self-discovery, each having a need to let go of past hurts. As they face many hardships, they also take a spiritual journey that builds their faith.

My only personal pet peeve in the story were some terrible choices that some of the minor characters made that were almost unbelievable. It did help bring about a building of suspense, but it was one of those moments for me that made me think, "Why would they think that's a good idea?!" I guess that's why it's fiction ; ).

Personal takeaway: God is sovereign over our past, present, and future.

I have to admit that I got this book from Netgalley on a bit of a whim. I am so glad that Pam Hillman did not disappoint!

Keira Young and her sisters are heading to Natchez, Mississippi to settle their family debts. She meets on fellow Irish man Quinn O'Shea heading the same direction but to drop off his younger brothers before travelling the world. Due to some unexpected turns, their fates are interlocked forever...

The Road to Magnolia Glen was unputdownable. I was constantly on edge on what was going to happen next. There was never been a dull moment. Readers can read it as a standalone like I did without having to pick up the prequel as Hillman was able to smoothly fill in the details.

If you are looking for a summer read or want to get out of a reading slump, then this is it. I am honestly looking forward to reading more in this series and from Pam Hillman.

I was excited to return to the dangerous Natchez Trace and haven of Breeze Hill. This book can be read on its own, but I loved the first book The Promise of Breeze Hill, so I recommend reading it as well. Quinn has a lot of the same qualities as his older brother Connor- hard working, dedicated to his brothers, and protective of those who need help. His resentment over being left behind and carrying the burden of raising his younger brothers creates a rift in his relationship Connor which they work to overcome throughout the story. Kiera is strong and willing to sacrifice with a marriage of convenience to ensure a good future for her sisters, but the dangerous situation she finds herself in brings out Quinn's protective nature. I liked how with each kindness he (however reluctantly) does for her, she softens toward him and their friendship grows as they begin to rely on each other for support. Various complications and dangers arise one after the other which gave the story a steady pace, and we see the point of view of the villain pursuing Kiera and her sisters, bringing heightened tension. A well-rounded addition to the series and I am looking forward to more, hopefully from another of the O'Shea brothers.
