WOW!!!

I can't believe how much I loved this book. From page one to the last sentenced I was on the edge of my seat to see what happens next. Trust me, you really have no idea how this one will end. Even though she passed, my heart ached for Rose and also for Emily in a complicated way.

Great story line that progressed at the perfect speed. Interesting characters. Intriguing plot.

As a crime thriller and psychological thriller Claire Allan has certainly created a very engaging story with 'Her Name Was Rose'.

At first I thought it was going to be rather twee, However I was soon drawn in by the carefully crafted and well developed characters.

I really liked the twists and turns in the plot. There are certainly plenty of red herrings along the way.

Yes there is a twist at the end. It is worth waiting for.

I have not read any books by this author before, but on the strength of this I will certainly look out for future books and I will investigate her back-catalogue too.

I give my thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books for a copy in exchange for this review.

An enjoyable read, if a little far fetched at times! The plot is original and the characters are well developed. The story definitely kept my attention, mainly because it is well written and easy to read. Nice twist at the end and we'll worth a read.

This thriller was so well written! This one had me guessing the entire story line. Emily witnesses a hit and run accident and is determined to find out all about the victim's life. The characters were well written. I loved this one! Would definitely recommend this!

I can't make my mind up about this book. I found it quite unbelievable, who walks into a job they have to have these days. Also meets the man they have to meet almost immediately. Hard to believe . I know it's a story but I like book's that aren't too far fetched

Her Name was Rose is a very easy read that had me hooked from the first page. It tells the story of Emily who witnesses the hit and run fatality of Rose on a street one evening. Convinced it should have been her and that possibly Emily's ex had something to do with it, Emily is consumed with guilt and starts to find out more about the girl who lost her life. She stalks Rose's Facebook page which gives the appearance that Rose led a perfect life with a perfect husband.

Emily applies for and gets Rose's now vacant job, and ends up meeting Rose's grief stricken husband. However not all is as it seems. Was Rose meant to die that night, who is telling the truth? Emily is a great unreliable narrator with a history of pills, alcohol and an abusive ex that took chunks from her self confidence. At times she is naive and you can't help but feel for her as she searches for that "perfect life" and true love. However, Rose's Facebook page paints a very different reality to that of her everyday life.

This is a very good read with Emily and Rose being well drawn out characters. Even the character of Cian was believable in his duplicity and menace. I don't think Emily is meant to be that likeable and there is appeal in that as in the beginning you can't quite believe she is applying for Rose's job but yet as the book went on, I found myself rooting for her and cheering her on.

I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you to Claire Allan, NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an advance copy of this book.

Absolutely loved this story, it kept me intrigued until the last page. I couldn't put this book down - in fact I read it in two sittings and finished it at 3.30 a.m. this morning. What a great author, the writing was engaging, the character development superb and the story line held my interest with the twists and turns, and where nothing as it seems!
Highly Recommened, I really hope Her Name Was Rose will be a big success as it deserves to be. Claire Allan is a talented author and I'm really looking forward to reading her next book.

It was a good story but I struggled with the fact I didnt like either Emily or Cian. I found Emily really hard going and I know she was depressed but I found her constant whinging hard going. I had guessed who paid the money for Rose to be killed but I thought someone else was also involved. And I worked out about Cian. I did enjoy the idea of the story in this book, I just found some bits a bit boring. I would give this author another go.

Emily, a witness to a fatal accident is drawn to the life of the deceased Rose. She manages to get close to Rose’s family and friends in the hope of making her own life better and fixing in herself what she believes is broken. Her name was Rose is a tragic tale of what happens when you think the grass is greener on the other side, and covet others lives.

3.5
This book made me think back to The Girl on the Train. If you liked that then I think you’ll enjoy this as well. I did like it, and this one too, but I didn’t love them. I finished them and was surprised by some of the twists. The writing was good and it sucks you in quickly.

But the characters, ugh, especially our narrator, were just so unlikable. I can read a book and enjoy it even when there isn’t a redeeming character but I think in those instances the characters are evil and smart. This is where I falter because I wanted to like Emily and I wanted her to stop making such foolish choices!

I didn’t guess the ending and I was happy with the way the story concluded. I would recommend this book.

I have just finished reading this book and towards the end just could not put it down. I thought I had the ending worked out but was a complete surprise how it ended.. It centres on Emily with a troubled past with her ex. When she witness a hit and run she blames herself and when the deceased's job beomes available she applies and gets it. Craving for love and security she slowly tries to take the dead woman's place, first her job then her husband. What happens next is riveting as not everything about her death is what it first appeared to me and soon she finds herself in danger.
It is a bit slow at the beginning so don't give up on it as it is a book worth reading

I really wanted to enjoy this book but sadly it wasn't for me.

I couldn't get on with the characters in the storyline and it just didn't 'grip' me, sorry.

Rose has it all -a beautiful son, handsome writer husband and a job she loves so when she dies in a car accident, Emily thinks she was the one really meant to die. Her name was Rose is full of twists and every time you think you've worked it all out you are right back at the beginning. Fantastic, gripping, enthralling.

Interesting story of Emily who suffers from anxiety attacks and is convinced that an ex boyfriend is seeking to harm her. She witnesses a road accident in which a young mum, Rose, is killed. Emily believes that she was the intended victim. She then seems to take the place of the other woman, getting a job at her place of work and becoming involved with Rose's husband. I did guess the ending but the read was enjoyable.

Her Name Was Rose by Claire Allan was psychological thriller that keep me engaged all the way through. Emily witnesses a hit and run accident and it leaves her very shaken. She then becomes obsessed with the victim of the accident Rose and wants to find out everything about her life. This has far reaching consequences that means Emily becomes more and more involved with Rose's work colleagues and family. Quite a few twists and turns in this story and an ending I didn't see coming.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Avon Books UK for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

I had read at least a third of this book and wanted to give up because it was slow and ploddy and read like the first book of an inexperienced writer. I'm surprised that it got this far without some serious edits. At times I thought I was reading the descriptions in a fluffy women's fiction novel and at others I thought the writer was trying too hard to copy a very popular genre.
I knew what was coming and I think I only finished this book to see if I was right. I was.
Characters were like caricatures, dialogue left me cold and because I don't want to give spoilers, all I can say is how on earth could what happened to Rose have happened without any harm coming to her son?
That said, I strongly feel that if this writer continues in this genre the next book will be good because I can tell she has passion and loves her craft. Sadly, she didn't do it for me this time round.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. It was entertaining with a good storyline, interesting characters and lots of twists and turns especially in the final pages. The ending was surprising and unexpected.
