Beau returns the next day, he finds his father on the floor with a letter opener sticking out of his heart. Without thinking (never remove a protruding object unless you are medically trained or touch a murder weapon), he pulls the letter opener out and tries to do compression. Of course that's when Cassidy walks in. 911 is called, but of course he does not survive. Beau is now the main suspect and he hires Cassidy to help him find the murder. Beau has never gotten over losing his college sweetheart to cancer and has vowed never to put himself out there again. But he is so attracted to Cassidy and the feelings are reciprocated. Cassidy knows the Beau is still in love with Sarah and she is not a long-term kind of girl. But as they work together and the danger increases, so does their need for each other. Will they be able to walk away when the case is solved?

Another exciting book by Kat Martin. Her characters are always fascinating and well developed. Searching for the real killer leads into more danger and a tangled web with a surprise ending.

Beau and Cassidy definitely had to trust each other without good reason in order to find a killer. Or killers. This story was full of suspense and danger and romance and was so much fun to read! Family drama abounds.

This is the 2nd book in the Texas Trilogy, about 3 friends in high school who get in trouble but straighten out their lives. Beyond Danger is about Beau.
Beau and his father, the exSeanator, have a non existent relationship. But when Beau finds out his dad got a 19 yr old girl pregnant, he goes to confront him, only to find him dead.
Cassie was hiredbythe Ex-seanator to find out who is following him.
She and Beau team up to find out who murdered the Senator. In all the twist and turns Beau and Cassie turn to each other. The chemistry between them is off the charts.
As usual Kat Martin delivers again.

Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC of Beyond Danger via NetGalley for an honest review.
This is the second book in the trilogy and although I have not read the first book (yet!) I had no trouble following the storyline. Kat Martin is one of my favourite author's and never fails to deliver a story full of suspense and well-crafted romance that keeps the reader engaged. Beau and Cassidy meet at his father's home and he assume's she is his father's latest love interest. She is definitely not and when Beau's father killed in his own home, Beau is found standing over his body with the bloody knife in his hand. Were they at odds enough for Beau to kill him? Especially after Beau finds out that his father, a former state senator, has impregnated a very young woman.
I loved the chemistry between Beau and Cassidy and I will go back and read Linc's story in the first book. Beau reminds me a little of Thomas Magnum from the Magnum PI series of the 1980's. Lots of twists and turns that keep the reader involved and Martin's ability to keep the reader engaged and drawn to the characters prevails throughout. A great read!

Kat Martin knows how to write thrillers. First we meet a character we would love to hate, only to see him murdered. A rich hero and the undercover PI get together to find who did it.

Anyone buying a Kat Martin book knows they are in for a good story. This one is an interesting story filled with action.

A great action packed romantic suspense! Second in the trilogy, but completely standalone, Beau Reese stumbles upon his father’s body and becomes suspect one in his murder. Along with the investigator his father had hired before his murder, Cassidy, they race to find the killer before Beau ends up in jail.

The mystery and romance are perfectly blended where one does not take away from the other. Cassidy is a strong woman who works in a detective agency with characters I hope we see more of in the future. Beau has such a good heart which is evident in how he treats the mother of his baby sister. He struggles with his attraction to Cassidy because of a previous loss in his life and watching him come to terms with a new love was poignant.

The mystery kept me guessing until the end and takes a twist I did not see coming. I look forward to the final book in this trilogy.

Here's another action packed suspense novel by Kat Martin that will keep you up late at night to discover the identity of the bad guys!

Beau Reese didn't kill his father, retired Senator Stewart Reese, but he is anxious to find out who did. He enlists the aid of the lovely private investigator, Cassidy Jones, who was briefly employed by his father. They give into the fierce attraction between them while they continue to sift through information and clues about the late Senator's life. Cassidy gives all of her skills to the search and is also targeted for getting too close to the truth. I am glad that Beau was able to find some closure with his father's death and his actions near the end.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.

Beyond Danger enthralls readers with lots of suspense and a romance that begins with a very uneasy alliance.

First, let me just say that the romance between Beau and Cassidy is one that is a sizzling and heated one that keeps readers guessing throughout the story. Both characters are strong and appealing which draws readers into their story and the romance is a roller coaster ride of turbulence that keeps readers glued to the pages.

Anticipation steadily builds throughout the story, not only in regards to the romance but the danger and excitement that stems from nefarious characters that are dead set on keeping Cassidy and Beau from learning their secrets. The twists and thrills ensure that this fast paced story never has a dull moment and that readers aren’t sure just who the real enemy is nor what he is really up to.

I have read lots of great books by Kat Martin, but this is the first one in the Texas Trilogy that I have read and I have to tell you that I can’t believe that I haven’t read the first one yet, because as usual Kat Martin paints vivid pictures of her stories that make the readers feel as if they are part of the unfolding story. Beyond Danger was a very exciting read that kept me glued to the pages and not only am I going back and reading Beyond Reason, but I can’t wait to read Beyond Control, which is due to be released in May.

Beau is such a sweetheart. My heart just broke for him in Beyond Reason. How tragic to lose the love of your live to cancer at such a young age. If he makes a muck of his chance for true love with Cassidy because of that I'm going to be really, really disappointed. I am no a fan of the "I can't love you because the love of my life died, but I can bang your brains out" Troup. Of course, having to find his father's killer and taking care of Missy, a barely legal teenager who is very pregnant with his half-sister, is going to take some time. On top of all that Beau is the prime suspect in his father's murder and uncovering Daddy Dearest's Deep Dark Secrets is really painful, but not at all surprising. Just which one of those secrets got him killed is what Beau and Cassidy will need to discover.

Cassidy is a PI with Maximum Security in Dallas, TX. Former Texas State Senator, Stewart Reese, has hired her to do some investigating. Shortly after she starts the job, he is stabbed to death and the only suspect is his son, Beau. At first Cassidy didn't know if Beau was guilty or not. All she knew was that he was one very hot, sexy, handsome, billionaire and, in order to prove his innocence, he desperately needs her help. What she doesn't need is to fall in love with him.

In this second book of The Texas Trilogy, Beyond Danger is jam packed with suspense, action, and romance. It's a definite winner and you will just love Beau and Cassidy. These are two very strong characters and you can feel the chemistry between them. From their very first awkward meeting these two have reason not to trust the other yet something tells each of them they should. Eventually they decide working together to get to the bottom of the Senator's murder is the only way to go.

If you are a fan of romantic suspense this is one you don't want to miss. I highly recommend it.

Kat Martin has the ability to draw a vivid picture that readers will feel as if they are in the story. Beyond Danger is a well crafted romance story that will keep readers glued to the pages. The author has the ability to keep a steady pace as the story moves forward as she fills in the details of the people and the world she created. The romance is front and center with the suspense taking a back to seat many times.

I just LOVED this book! Beau and Cassidy were great characters that kept things interesting all the way through the novel! Beau was dreamy. Lol, the way he cared about Cassidy and his huge heart. This book was part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. The different books of the series have different characters. I would categorize this more as a romantic suspense novel because I felt the romance was a big aspect of this story but still had a highly enjoyable mystery. From the beginning, there is a lot of page turning suspense going on that keeps you hooked throughout this fun and thrilling novel. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great romantic suspense with some nice twists and turns!

I enjoy reading Kat Martin’s books. Part of the reason is I know what to expect from her books. Characters that I like, bad guys that I don’t, danger, suspense and romance that ends with an HEA. Beyond Danger had all that. I wondered if the changed of setting to Texas would, but it did not at all. Beyond Danger is the second book in this Texas Trilogy.

Some might wonder about a former race car driver being part of such a dangerous story, but recently in the news, one did just that. He shot as people trying to break into his home. Big news for Nascar Country in which I live. So from that viewpoint, the story mirrors real time. As for this story I like Beau more than his love interest, Cassidy. Still they made a great team.

All in all, an entertaining story in which you know the good guys will win in the end. I do wish real time could always mirror this.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

Book Two of the Texas Trilogy by Kat Martin, Beyond Danger is just a good as the first book. Martin remains true to what she does best and the action and mystery is wonderfully done letting you in on the POV of the antagonists. The hot romance does try to take a backseat to the mystery, and it makes sense both of the are professionals who want to keep working together in a professional manner, until the were-still-alive affirmation sex, then they manage to keep a professional relationship outside the bedroom until the whole situation becomes life threatening then it gets personal.

I loved the characters, Beau and Cassidy. Beau we met in the first book, each book is a stand-alone you don't have to read it, he is a retired race car driver who prefers his sports cars to the company SUV, unless it's necessary. He also has a horrible relationship with his father and hasn't been back home in the last five years the only thing that brought him back this time is the fact that his uncaring father got a barely legal girl pregnant. Beau being a better man than his father tells her he'll take care of everything. including having his father sign over the parental rights to the unborn child.

Cassidy is a private investigator, her main job is finding facts, she's very good at what she does and she loves it too. She is tenacious and will not stop until she has the answers, she's even helped co-workers to capture a variety of bunch of bad people in the past so it's no wonder that former Senator, Stewart Reese, asked her to investigate the possibility that someone may be out to get him. Reese has had the feeling that someone has been watching him so Reese moves Cassidy on to the property, but before she can really start doing her job she walks in and finds Beau leaning over his dead father with a bloody letter opener in his hand. Beau had just came back from the lawyers in Dallas with the papers for his father to sign, Beau had prepared himself for another argument but instead just finds his father dying on the floor with a letter opener in his chest.

Beau knows the police can only go so far in their investigation and as the prime suspect to his father's murder he knows he has to dig deep in his father's dirty dealings to find the real person responsible, so he hires Cassidy to help. They begin to dig deep into the dark recesses of Stewart Reese's life stirring up trouble along the way, unfortunately the more they dig the volatile the antagonist becomes and the more dangerous it becomes for Beau and Cassidy. For Beau it was lust at first sight Cassidy trying to be more professional tried to keep her feeling separate from the facts of the case, but her instincts tell her to trust Beau. The more their lives are put in danger the more protective Beau feels over Cassidy and soon he realizes it's more that just lust but before they can proceed with any kind of relationship they need to clear Beau's name and find the real killer.

Overall, another Kat Martin book to love. I always enjoy Martin's writing style and while I loved the Brodies I'm glad that these, so far, have been separate from that series. I look forward to the next book.

I really like Kat Martin books and this is no exception. I like Beau and Cassidy. Beau's dad has just done one more thing to disappoint and Beau calls him on it. When Beau finds his father dead, everyone knows they have not had a good relationship and so he is the major suspect. Cassidy was hired to investigate some people that Beau's dad thought might be stalking him. When Cassidy sees Beau kneeling next to his dead father, she knows that Beau didn't kill him. There are many twists and turns to this story. Several people are trying to kill both Beau and Cassidy. They just have to figure out who and why.

If ever there were a perfect time for a story about a corrupt senator, now is it. In Kat Martin’s romantic suspense, Beyond Danger (out Jan. 30), not only do we get the second installment of the Texas Trilogy, we get a zinger of a dirtbag.

Sen. Stewart Beaumont Reece may have just retired, but he’s not letting that slow him down … in business, in politics or in knocking up a 19-year-old. There’s very little redeeming qualities about this 60-year-old, a fact that does not escape his estranged son, Beau. And like any great instigator, Stew whips life around him into a frenzy, then manages to get murdered. Leaving Beau and the people around him, as usual, to clean up the mess.

A week before his death, the senator hired Cassidy Jones as his personal assistant. But unlike most of the assistants in his past — and to Beau’s relief — “assistant” is not a euphemism this time. She’s actually a private investigator looking into Stewart’s concerns that he’s being followed. When Beau finds his dad with a letter opener sticking out of his heart, his instinct is to help. And that’s how Cassidy finds them: Beau holding the bloody letter opener in one hand and using the other to press on the wound. It did not look good. But since she wants his cooperation in continuing to investigate the Senator’s stalker, she has to rely on her instinct.

Death is never an easy business, particularly when murder is the cause. Too many unanswered questions. Too many unresolved feelings. And when you’re the senator’s only son and the prime suspect in your father’s murder, too much red tape to mire through to find any resolution. People on Cassidy’s list of suspects are dropping like flies … and don’t even get me started on the race to find the real killer before Beau goes down for good.

Martin is always a safe bet for me, because she consistently develops such great characters and has great pacing. There are lots of twists and turns in this one, and a handful of car chases that would make Steve McQueen proud (albeit sorrowful, since both a Lamborghini AND a Ferrari are wrecked). There’s even a terrorist and an assassin. Hmm … who knew?

Review of Beyond Danger by Kat Martin. If you’ve been reading the series you may have read Linc’s story. This is Beau’s story who is a partner with Lincoln in business and they grew up together. They have a strong bond as a result of several incidents during their adolescent years. The book starts out with a very interesting opening scene which leads into a confrontation between Beau and his father.
Beau and his father are both mega rich. Beau used to be a racecar driver but now makes his money with Linc. Beau is found in the study with his father who is dead and he becomes the number one suspect. Cassidy had been hired as a private investigator by his father. So she helps him try to figure out who really killed his father. The sparks fly between the two of them from the first page to the very last page. Cassidy is a great strong female character. I loved how they used her strengths and her role as a private investigator. Since the characters are over-the-top rich it’s interesting to see how the other half lives. I didn’t recognize half of the brands that they were wearing and mentioning. Beau has four cars which are all expensive.
Sexual content: There are physical scenes throughout the entire book.
Language would be a 3.
F 7, Bast 2, Sob 3, Shit 3, Damn 16
Violence will be a three or four.
Alcohol use – casual drinking
