This book starts off with a bang, pulling the reader into what promises to be a riveting, suspense-filled story involving interesting, dynamic characters. Unfortunately, for me personally, that really strong opening fizzled out by about 20% into the book. The pace of the story was bogged down by what I felt were unimportant details, and I found myself losing interest and skimming large chunks of text. Also, although the mystery aspect of the book is strong, the romance part takes more of a backseat; I would say this is more of a mystery with some romance sprinkled in rather than a romantic suspense book. Finally, this book is the second in the series, which I didn't realize going in. Although it became obvious that there had been a story prior to this one, at no point did I feel like I needed to have read the first book to understand what was going on in this one; this can definitely be read as a standalone. If you are looking for a good mystery with strong characters, give this one a try. If you're more interested in a romance with a suspenseful backdrop, you might want to look elsewhere.

Beyond Danger is the second exciting romantic suspense book in The Texas Trilogy series written by author Kat Martin. Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the advance copy. Looking forward to Josh's story.

It tend to enjoy Kat Martins book, I have been following her for years and as much as I was anxiously awaiting for this book it wasn't my favorite, not bad just not my favorite. So we met Beau in last book Beyond Reason, he was Linc's best friend and I was intrigued by him. Poor Beau found his father murdered and even though they had a difficult relationship he still wanted to know who killed him. The Senator (Beau's dad) had felt that someone was following him so he hired a PI by the name of Cassidy, and she was is also now Beau's love interest. I got say this is why I wasn't crazy about Beau, I didn't like her, from the get go and even though I enjoyed the rest of the book, she just never did it for me. I was happy to read about previous characters but kind of hoped they had just a little more time in this book, juuuuust a little. Anyhoo, still a fan and now hoping to read Josh's story.

I am always anxious when I hear that Martin has a new book coming out. Beyond Danger, is all the hype said plus more.
Almost from the very beginning Cassidy trusted Beau, at times she might question him though. With everything stacked against him I would have had a hard time trusting him. Just shows how loyal she is. Beau has the looks, wealth and fame. He's adamant that he will never love again. So on top of helping Beau find his dad's killer, she also has to help heal his heart so he can love again. Sigh!
